Full textThis thesis is a study of the representation of disease in the visual arts of the Renaissance. The principal question which guided this reflexion is to learn under what conditions there could have been a plastic expression of disease according to two essential given points : firstly, the fact that the artists of the renaissance tried to create an esthetics in conformity with the theories of art of their time in terms of balance, measurement and harmony, and secondly, the fact that disease constitues, by definition, an effect of force in perpetual transformation. Starting from the idea that the representation of the pathological states in Renaissance art serves an apologetic function which largely exceeds that of simple descritpion, the thesis aims at showing the displacement which produces this order of representation compared to the mimetic direction of the image. Our study of the images will be put in connection with both the theories and also the thought of Louis Marin

Full textThe aim of this study is to observe how speakers describe the space of the city, in face to face interactions. In accordance with discourse analysis purposes, it focuses on multiple levels : - meaning and syntax of spatial expressions, - verbal interaction mechanisms, - actualization phenomena, - construction of texts describing the city. The data under study consist of : - interviews where speakers describe how they are used to walking around in the city and in the neighbourhood where they live, and how they represent this; - pedestrian route communications. These strongly contextualized data allow the linguist to analyze the connection between language, subjects and environment (referent visibility or invisibility, speakers' orientation). They also allow to study how ordinary knowledge upon space builds up, and how this knowledge is told. This research stands within the scope of praxematic linguistics. The object of this theory is to show the links beween speech, the real and the subjects, through processes that lead from language virtuality to utterance, and that work towards the actualization of meaning. It permits to tackle the problem of the way reality degrees are represented in spatial scenes through deictic procedures, or phrases that describe a motion or a static localization. It focuses on the way human experience is expressed in language
