Abstract:

This paper describes the viscous behaviour of St-Roch-de-l'Achigan clay, a Champlain Sea clay from Quebec, Canada. The general geotechnical profile of the soil deposit was first established with static cone penetration tests, vane tests, and some laboratory tests performed at different depths. For the study of the viscous behaviour of the clay, a special laboratory test program was established for specimens taken at depths from 4.8 to 5.8 m. This program included special incremental loading oedometer tests, constant rate of strain (CRS) oedometer tests performed at different strain rates, isotropic and anisotropic triaxial compression tests, and undrained shear tests. All these tests were performed under a constant temperature, varying from 10 to 50 °C. The test results show that the vertical yield stresses and the entire limit state curve depend on strain rate and temperature. The critical state line is also temperature dependent in the void ratio (e) log principal effective stress (p′) diagram but not in the deviator stress (q) principal effective stress (p′) diagram. The results also show that microstructuring may develop when the temperature is high or the strain rate small.Key words: viscosity, strain rate, temperature, laboratory tests.

Abstract:

The aim of the paper is to present the cult of St. Roch in the context of the role of a patron protecting against diseases, traditionally assigned to him. First the person of St. Roch is characterized, then the qualities of folk medicine are presented, and finally, the traditional ways of preventing and treating some illnesses are shown. Nowadays, knowledge about that seems very important in upbringing and should be transmitted and cherished not only as the testimony of life and struggle with problems of previous generations, but first of all because of the values inherent to folk culture and traditional medicine, such as unlimited patient care, serving the suffering and staying at the margin of social life

Abstract:

Depuis 2015, la métropole de Montpellier finance des actions de recherche et développement au travers de contrats de délégation de service public de l’assainissement. Un des projets a porté sur l’évaluation des actions de réduction à la source des micropolluants d’un établissement de soin, la Polyclinique Saint-Roch, engagé depuis 2013 dans une politique de développement durable, de réduction de ses impacts sur l’environnement, qui a fait l’objet d’un transfert dans un nouvel établissement en 2016. Veolia a lancé, dans ce contexte, une étude multipartenaire (Polyclinique Saint-Roch, UMR HydroSciences Montpellier, métropole de Montpellier et Veolia Eau), afin de caractériser les rejets d’assainissement de l’ancien et du nouvel établissement, ce dernier ayant mis en oeuvre de nouvelles pratiques pour diminuer ses rejets. Cette étude se décline en plusieurs actions : sélectionner au préalable des molécules susceptibles d’être représentatives de l’activité de soins, les quantifier dans les eaux usées, prédire les concentrations de molécules médicamenteuses représentatives (calcul d’un PEC : concentration prédite dans l’environnement) et les comparer aux valeurs mesurées. Le changement des pratiques a une répercussion significative sur la réduction des flux de micropolluants rejetés au réseau par la Polyclinique Saint-Roch, qui est suffisante pour ne pas engager de prétraitements sur leur site. La démarche est transposable aux autres établissements de soins de la métropole. La méthode de calcul des PEC dans les eaux usées est acceptable et intéressante pour un diagnostic préalable et/ou une approche globale des émissions.

Il a été précédemment établi que les communautés locales constituent des « communautés identitaires » intégrées dans un système comprenant des identités territoriales et en réseaux. Cette définition existentialiste de la communauté rejoint la tradition d'étude des relations sociales par l'entremise du processus de développement. Le développement local est situé ici en tant que facteur principal agissant sur l'identité communautaire en stimulant des relations sociales organisées autour de projets de développement. À partir de cette grille d'analyse, le présent article élabore une démarche empirique centrée sur l'étude de projets de développement dans le quartier Saint-Roch à Québec. Plus précisément, on tente d'établir une corrélation entre la participation des intervenants locaux et leur niveau d'appropriation de quatre projets réalisés dans le cadre d'une démarche planifiée de revitalisation urbaine.

Après avoir passé en revue les différentes charges publiques qui se retrouvaient dans cette paroisse rurale au début du XIXe siècle, le texte considère les personnes qui les ont occupées. Cette démarche permet de jumeler un profil socio-économique à chaque fonction publique et, à travers cette exploration de l’origine des acteurs, de faire émerger une définition d’une élite institutionnelle.

Or, ces quartiers qui montrent habituellement des signes de déclin font aussi généralement l’objet d’opérations de revitalisation qui visent à y attirer de nouveaux résidants et à y promouvoir de nouvelles activités économiques. Les populations marginalisées représentent alors des « nuisances » à la fois pour les autorités publiques, les investisseurs privés et les résidants. Les espaces qu’elles investissent font ainsi l’objet de conflits d’appropriation. Ces conflits sont analysés à partir d’une recherche menée dans deux quartiers centraux, à savoir Centre-Sud à Montréal et Saint-Roch à Québec.

S’il est indéniable que l’Église catholique a joué un rôle politique au Québec, on connaît encore peu le rôle joué par le bas clergé au XXe siècle. Les interventions du clergé, souvent non autorisées par les évêques, ont compliqué les relations entre l’Église et l’État. Dans quelles limites était-il permis à des prêtres de se mêler de politique et comment était administrée la discipline ecclésiastique dans ce cas précis ? L’article explore l’implication politique du clergé et ses ramifications en examinant le cas de deux prêtres de Québec, le curé Édouard-Valmore Lavergne de Notre-Dame de Grâce et l’abbé Pierre Gravel de Saint-Roch.

Parmi les termes récurrents dans les discours des acteurs impliqués dans le processus de revitalisation du quartier Saint-Roch à Québec, nous trouvons celui de mixité. Ces acteurs souhaitent une revitalisation urbaine préservant la mixité. L’examen de leurs discours révèle la variété des représentations de la mixité, les stratégies mises en place par les uns et par les autres pour vivre avec ou malgré la mixité du quartier ainsi que les conflits visibles ou sous-jacents découlant du partage de l’espace public. Pour effectuer cette recherche, nous avons eu recours à des mémoires et des rapports de consultations publiques, à des entretiens semi-dirigés et à l’observation directe.

Abstract:

Background: Pain, fear, depression often accompany patients as complications after stroke. They can usually take the shape of patients’ defensive reaction, who must struggle with physical and psychical consequences of stroke. Degree of those feelings’ intensity and the reactions related to them are indi-vidual for every patient.Aim of the study: The aim of the research was to determine the effect of post-stroke pain on the daily functioning of the patient and determine whether anxiety and depression determine the effects of treatment and return to activities of daily living after stroke.Material and methods: Research instruments were: an author’s questionnaire and the research scales (SOPL, Lawton’s IADL Scale, Katz Index and Doloplus Pain Scale). The study sample consisted of 31 patients from the Rehabilitation Department in Saint Roch Hospital in Ozimek. The research was carried out from October 2013 to March 2014. Results: The feeling of the fear and depressed appeared among 41.93% (13) patients and it was in the limit of normality. Symptoms of depression appeared among 6% (2) of respondents. The pain occurred among 90% (28) of patients, however, in the opinion of the patients did not constitute a serious obstacle to the continuation of the rehabilitation and daily functioning. The Katz Index revealed that 58% (18) of the patients did not need help with basic activities of daily life.Conclusions: Pain, anxiety, and depression had no significant effect on the course of the rehabilitation of patients in the study group. The pain did not decrease significantly physical activity. Potential problems with the daily functioning of patients through the process of rehabilitation, have been largely eliminated.
