Abstract:
This article presents a partial reconstruction of a ninth-century sacramentary-lectionary whose leaves were used as binding material for manuscripts of the library of Saint-Victor of Paris. While most of these fragments remain in situ, some have been detached; in all twelve Saint-Victor codices that served as host volumes are identified. A presentation of the fragments, including three not reported in Bischoff’s catalogue, presents the current condition of the fragments. An investigation on their content leads to a conjecture about their original order and to a hypothesis linking their origin to the monastery of Saint-Denis, according to the liturgical use and to the comparison with other sacramentaries.

Abstract:
Two new formations, the Frontière and Etchemin formations, have been found to lie below the Beauceville and Saint-Victor formations, the two known formations of the Magog Group. The Frontière Formation, at the base of the group, is made up of centimeter-thick beds of medium- to coarse-grained litharenite and of greyish green mudstone; the sandstone, greyish green, contains abundant felsic volcanic rock fragments and chromite grains. The Etchemin Formation is composed mostly of centimeter-thick dusky yellow green siliceous mudstone; at the base, there is also a purple mudstone, and meter-thick beds of dusky green volcaniclastic rocks rich in intermediate to felsic volcanic rock fragments and crystals of feldspar and quartz occur near its top. The Beauceville Formation consists of interbedded centimeter-thick beds of black clayslate and centimeter- to meter-thick beds of black volcaniclastic rocks. The Saint-Victor Formation consists of classic turbidite beds with few meter-thick yellowish volcaniclastic rock beds similar to those of the Beauceville Formation; the sandstone is a litharenite rich in quartz grains and sedimentary rock fragments. Most rocks of the Frontière and Etchemin formations as well as the volcaniclastic rocks of the Beauceville and Saint-Victor formations were derived from a magmatic arc located to the southeast. However, the shale of the Beauceville Formation and the turbidites of the Saint-Victor Formation were derived from an orogenic source located to the northwest. The Magog Group is located between the Saint-Daniel Mélange and the Ascot Complex interpreted as remnants of an accretionary prism and a magmatic arc, respectively. The sediments of this group were thus deposited in a fore-arc basin active during the Taconian orogeny of the Middle to Late Ordovician.

Abstract:
The present study has as its purpose to study within in three major parts the life and the writings, the exegetical method, and the relationship between exegesis and theology according to Andrew of St. Victor. His scriptural commentaries, most of them still inedited, cover all parts of the Old Testament. They show the strong influence of contemporaneous rabbinical exegesis on a Christian author. This is true not only with regard to the great number of Jewish authors known to Andrew, but also with regard to his exegetical method, and by consequence, to his theology. Andrew of St. Victor is one of the first witnesses of the separation of exegesis and theology in the twelfth century. This will enable, furthermore, the dialogue between Jews and Christians, whose common source and background are the Hebrew Scriptures, the Christian Old Testament

Abstract:
The basis for this study of the memoriale historiarum is the codicological examination of the manuscripts. It underscores the existence of two versions, successively established between 1302 and the end of the 1320s. The scope of the enterprise shows that the author has benefited from the assistance of a team and the constant support of the community of saint victor that has made this historiographical project its own. The author presents a genuine analysis of history that becomes all the stronger and the clearer in the second version. He highlights the significance of the descriptio orbis terrarum, the framework of men's actions and of the history of salvation. Thus the universal vocation of the church is emphasised. But history is also animated by the principle of the divisio regnorum, more specifically developed by the canon of Saint Victor in the tractatus, which introduces the chronicle that covers the period from Caesar to 1322 (the text is included in an annex of the thesis). John of Saint Victor, whose precise identity remains unknown but whose university education is certain, nurtured his thought at the sources of the intellectual debate of the years 1280-1320

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
This doctoral thesis proposes a critical edition of the thirty-two Sermones of Godfrey of Saint Victor (almost entirely unpublished until today) with an apparatus of biblical and liturgical, classical, patristic and medieval sources, and a broad philosophical and theological commentary. A preliminary reconstruction of the author’s biography is followed by a detailed analysis of the entire corpus of his works, examined both from a codicological and a speculative point of view, in order to provide an overall and systematic view of his thinking. General assumptions and characteristics of the victorine preaching are also examined, from the question of Sermones’ audience to the role of armarius held by Godfrey, from the reasons for the extensive use of Augustinian and Gregorian sources (essential in the method and content of the victorine preaching’s consideration) to the ecclesiastical or pastoral themes, always debated in Godfrey’s writings, from his reception of a central theme in Saint Victor as is the platonic-Agostinian regio dissimilitudinis to his consideration of liberal arts and, more generally, of philosophy and theology. The critical edition is also preceded by a section presenting manuscript codices, reasons for our reconstitution of the text and ecdotic principles adopted. Sermons are proposed in the chronological order provided by the scan of the victorine liturgical year, with some introductory pages that highlight the peculiar features of Godfrey’s preaching, ranging from allegorical and tropological exegesis to a skilful use of sources, and aim to show an eclectic portrait of the Godfrey preacher. The analysis of this texts shows the figure of a multifaceted intellectual of the 12th century, active in the musical, liturgical, poetic, philosophical and pastoral spheres, who uses and fuses all his skills with edificatory and parenetic purposes. Godfrey proves to be worthy to continue his teaching and preaching in the wake of those great magistri that were Hugh, Richard, Andrew and Achard, exponents of a first and a second generation of authors who helped to give luster and fame to the school of Saint Victor. The thesis is completed by some summary tables of the complex reconstruction of Godfrey’s life and thought, together with his two illuminated self-portraits

Abstract:
The writers’ village of Komarovo holds a significant place in poetry series of Joseph Brodsky and Victor Sosnora. Komarovo represents an integral part of the literary myth of Saint Petersburg’s role as a “cultural capital city” of Russia. Brodsky’s “Kellomäki” poem tells a story of an artistic resurrection of love with by the will of memory. Victor Sosnora’s “Anno Iva” poetry series contains a reference to Anna Akhmatova. Akhmatova was and remains an idiomatic “genius of the place”, “genius loci” of Komarovo village and the city of Saint Petersburg. Depending on the level of poetical comprehension, literary semantics of the area changes.

Abstract:
Water accidents require intuitive decisions and training for such decisions because of the short time between involvement and death. The goal is to use engineering techniques to train and prevent accidents that require split-second decisions or are caused by human actions or scenarios that are difficult to anticipate. In recent years, the number of fatalities in traffic accidents and disasters has decreased significantly due to the development of technology and new technologies. However, water-related accidents, especially those caused by currents, involve human factors, and the ratio of fatalities to the number of accidents is still high. It is difficult to cover and solve such human-caused accidents with engineering technology alone. Therefore, it is necessary to solve the fundamental problem. The most important solution is to train people. By training people, the fundamental awareness of human factors can be trained, which will reduce accidents. The most effective way to learn these factors is through hands-on education and training. Among these, VR can be performed regardless of the location. It is expected to be much more effective than those obtained from videos or books. Many studies on VR training and Evangelos Markopoulo et al. have conducted a study on maintenance and safety education of ship engine systems using VR. In another study, Victor Saint-Martin et al. studied fire VR training for hospital personnel who have difficulty participating in regular on-the-job training. While there are studies on VR training that focus mainly on visual training, few studies on VR training focus on water accidents and aim to reduce accidents by tactilely displaying the strength of underwater currents. In addition, many underwater VR studies have been conducted for entertainment purposes, and few studies evaluate the perception of danger. In this study, we propose a VR system and a multimodal interface to post the flow of water hazards caused by the flow. Here, we validated the experience of flow using multiple senses, including VR and tactile sensation, to confirm the validity of the risk assessment. We found that the degree of risk perceived by a person can be combined in an additive manner with the risk postings given to each sensory organ, resulting in a higher risk rating. We also found that force postings produced higher danger ratings than tactile postings. These results indicate that using multiple senses to assess the danger of water currents increases the danger rating, and combining it with force instead of tactile sensation further increases the danger rating. In the future, we plan to discuss the effectiveness of this training in developing intuitive judgment. Furthermore, we would like to utilize this training for water accidents and other intuitive accidents to develop the ability to grasp the situation and make a judgment instantly.

Abstract:
There are many talented artists in modern fi ne art whose work is unknown among theoretical researchers.
