Along with the classical approach, which is illustrated using various methods for determining the costs of making a purchase (travel by various modes of transport), the author’s approach is considered, which allows determining the corresponding sales zone based on the use of geographic information systems and elementary mathematical calculations based on geometric constructions. In particular, using the cosine theorem and a map obtained from any geographic information system,

The linear-quadratic flexible accelerator model has been a staple for empirical analysis within the inventories literature. A key assumption of the model is that sales are a proxy for demand, thus inventories are generated in instances where production does not equilibrate with demand. We seek to improve upon the benchmark linear-quadratic model by introducing firm orders, thus allowing for differentiation between realized and expected demand. Estimation results suggest that the omission of orders heavily biases the coefficient sign and magnitude associated with sales. Furthermore, the estimat

Abstract Black powder is a generic term used to describe entrained corrosion products that can accumulate in sales gas pipelines, potentially damaging process equipment. Black powder mitigation is a challenge in the gas industry. Many factors govern the formation of black powder, including gas composition (particularly CO2, H2S, and O2 impurities), condensation rate, relative humidity, and the existence of hygroscopic salts on the steel surface. The use of volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCIs) could constitute an economic and effective black powder mitigation method. However, little is known ab

Abstract Recent failure analyses of several modern pipelines in oil service have exhibited pin-hole leaks at the 6 o’clock position. The pits formed on the inside surface from a combination of pitting corrosion and under deposit corrosion. Two case studies involving an 8-inch and a 12-inch OD API 5L Grade X52M pipeline are discussed. The work scope for the pipeline failure analyses included visual examination, metallography, energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (EDS) of corrosion products, X-Ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Vickers hardness and tensile tests to determine the mechanism that led

Many agricultural and processing enterprises face the problem of timely sale of perishable products. Enterprises need to create a multifactorial digital technology with a number of consistent tools that contribute to creating a highly rated organization in a communication environment, monitoring retail sales and stimulating product sales. Digital tools for marketing analysis and control of marketing operations are proposed through the introduction of a Low-cod platform and a CRM system. Using the Philippines’ first-ever nationally representative survey designed for characterizing digital commercial and noncommercial engagements, including ICT use, digital economy, and technology-enabled incidents, we investigate the presence of gendered disparities in online marketplaces. Doing this is consistent with the spirit of a gender and development approach that aims for equal and equitable outcomes between men and women. We verify whether the observed participation of women in online marketplaces results in higher online sales. To establish the determinants of participation and incom

This paper evaluates the short-term impacts of a development project that aims to increase mango yields, sales of mango products, and the income of small mango farmers in rural Haiti. Robustness checks are conducted to investigate whether and to what extent the results are affected by the coexistence of other similar projects in the same sites. Similarly, the transportation sector in Indonesia consumed 45% of the total energy and contributed to 13.6% of CO2 emission in 2019. • Global EV development and utilization are increasing exponentially, especially in developed countries, and there were 10 million EVs in 2020 worldwide. • China has suc

In this paper we analyze changes in the export mix of Chilean firms, looking particularly at differences between large firms and SMEs. To do that, we use detailed information of exported products by firms during the period 1995-2005. Our econometric results, which look at the impact of export product churning on firm performance, are heterogeneous by type of change inexport mix and by firm size. In general, export mix changes are associated with improvements on productivity, although our results suggest that this positive effect is only for SMEs. In terms of employment and sales, we find that

We account for potential endogeneity of these processing times by exploiting the conditional random allocation of shipments to different verification channels associated with the use of riskbased control procedures. Black farmers in the United States lost nearly 90 percent of their farmland during the 20th century. Researchers and advocates have identified the legal tangle known as heirs’ property as a potential leading cause of this historical and ongoing loss of wealth. Heirs’ property is land passed down through generations to multiple heirs without a clear legal title, and Black landowners have been disproportionately affected due to systemic racism in the United States. As a result, landowners underutilize otherwise productive farmland, have difficulty accessing federal loans and grants, and lose lan

This paper studies whether supervisory actions, namely provisioning guidelines on non-performing loans (NPLs), affect banks’ NPL cleansing and lending behaviour, as well as the real economy. Using the supervisory intervention announced by the European Central Bank in the first quarter of 2018 as a quasi-natural experiment, we show that banks disposed of old NPLs at a higher rate after the policy shift. Banks that were more heavily exposed to the policy tightened their lending standards, especially for risky firms. Furthermore, banks with stronger fundamentals were more keen on disposing NPLs a
