Comparative anatomical studies of Salvadora oleoides Decne. and Salvadora persica L. belonging to the family Salvadoraceae were performed for their better adaptations and survival. The results showed that hairs were only present on the outer surface of epidermis in S. oleoides Decne. due to its xerophytic conditions. In S. oleoides Decne. vascular bundles were arranged in circle while in S. persica, they were arranged in rays. In transverse section of stem, length and width of parenchyma were greater in S. oleoides Decne. while other tissues were greater in S. persica L. In T.S. of petiole, th

Abstract The corrosion-inhibitive properties of Salvadora Persica water and ethanol extracts as a novel green inhibitor for dental amalgam in artificial saliva were studied by using potentiodynamic polarization measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements (EIS). The electrochemical results revealed that the Salvadora Persica extracts demonstrated strong inhibitory effects at 0.66 g/L and implied that the water extract was more effective than the ethanol extract. The inhibition efficiency (IE%) increases with increasing concentrations of both Salvadora Persica extracts a

Karyomorphological details have been investigated in the two species of the genus Salvadora - an important medicinal and multipurpose tree of Rajasthan. The somatic chromosome number in both the species S. persica and S. oleoides has been observed as 2n= 24, with distinct interspecific variation in the arm ratio of the twelve homologous pairs of chromosomes. Nucleolar chromosomes are reported in the S. persica (BSJO 19573) and the karyotypes in both the species were of symmetrical type. The role of karyotypic nature in speciation and evolution of the genus Salvadora has been discussed in detai
