Abstract:
This article intends to take a deeper look at how the pattern of mun?sabah offered by Salwa, this is certainly to see how new ideas are carried out and what is a significant difference between the idea of textual relation carried by Salwa and the theory of mun?sabah initiated by his predecessors such as al-Zarkasy, as-Suy?ti and al-Qa???n who are considered the most authoritative figures in the field of 'ul?mu al-Qur?n. Based on research conducted by the authors concluded that the theory used by Salwa is to use a historical-linguistic approach. So it is not only the pattern textually that Salwa tries to analyze the interrelationship but Salwa also sees how the historical context of the decline revelation and in the analysis as a mixture of themes and events that are interconnected between text and context. That is, Salwa basically tried to see how the pattern of mun?sabah in surah al-Ahz?b in answering political, cultural and social context problems in the early higiers in the Arabian Peninsula.

Abstract:
This study aims to describe the identity crisis of Diaspora people (Arab -American) in "Laila Halaby's" novel "Once in A promise Land". Halaby tackles the issues of racism, exclusion, and instability of identity that affect the Arab American community after the terrorist event of eleventh of September. She sheds light on the experiences of her significant characters Salwa and Jassim in America, clarifying how this event weakened their social position and made their presence in America questionable. "Halaby" describes the bitterness of her characters who are induced into a dream of belonging to a land that dismisses their original culture and religious values as well as their language. "Halaby" explains the subsistence in America involving challenges to face the harassment and verbal transgression. She reveals the failure of Salwa and Jassim to transcend the policy of fear and aggressive acts of America which help in dispersing them.

Abstract:
Abstract The Arabian Gulf is considered a naturally stressed environment due to extremes of salinity and summer temperatures, and the Salwa Bay area is commonly considered to be the most hypersaline extension of this gulf. This study documents foraminiferal diversity, abundance and incidences of test deformities in Salwa Bay, near the Saudi Arabia−Qatar Border. The total time-averaged (live + dead) benthic foraminiferal assemblage was dominated by porcelaneous taxa (85%). The three most abundant species were Peneroplis pertusus (24%), P. planatus (15%), and Coscinospira hemprichii (9%), accounting for nearly half of the total assemblage. Other common taxa included Elphidium spp. (14%), Ammonia spp. (10%), and Quinqueloculina sp. (4%). About a quarter of the specimens picked were living (rose Bengal stained) at the time of collection, and 43% of the tests of the most common taxa were mildly to severely deformed. Types of deformities included fusion of two adults or double tests, protuberances on the spiral side, abnormal chamber arrangement, abnormal shape of the proloculus, dents, re-positioning of the aperture, and modification of the coiling plane. Two genera accounted for three quarters of the observed test deformities: Peneroplis (58%) and Coscinospira (17%). The combination of elevated temperatures, high salinities, and the ecology of the taxa encountered is likely responsible for the abundance, relatively low diversity, and high incidence of deformities in foraminiferal tests from Salwa Bay. We conclude that the percentage of test abnormalities is not a useful environmental proxy for pollution in such naturally stressed environments where high incidences of test deformities commonly occur.

Abstract:
Abstract Shrimp paste is very much needed in NTB culinary. Several Micro small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Lombok produce shrimp paste. This study aimed to determine the chemical and physical quality of shrimp paste produced by MSMEs on the island of Lombok. The method used in this study was an experimental method with a Randomized Block Design and a single factor experiment with sampling locations, namely Shrimp paste of Putri Nyale (Jerowaru), Jero Acan (Jerowaru), TelukJor (Jerowaru), Lakara Salwa (Pringgabaya), Udang Rebon (Lembar) and SasakMaiq (BatuLayar). Each treatment was repeated three times to obtain 21 experimental units. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance at a 5% significance level using Co-Stat software. Significant different data were further tested with HSD test. The results showed that the moisture content, pH, hardness (texture) and color (Hue o) of shrimp paste from all producers were significantly different. There was a tendency that the higher the moisture content, the lower the hardness value (shrimp texture). Shrimp paste of Sasaq Maiq has the highest hardness of 39631. 98 kg/cm2 with the lowest moisture content of 23.21 %. Shrimp paste of Putri Nyale has the lowest hardness with the highest moisture content of 37. 55 %. Moisture content of Lakara Salwa shrimp paste and SasakMaiq does not meet the quality standards of shrimp paste (SNI 01-2716.1-2009). The acidity level of shrimp paste produced by MSMEs in Lombok is significantly different with a range of 6.4 to 7.57 which is influenced by the length of fermentation applied. Based on Hue°, the Lakara Salwa shrimp paste produces a red color range due to the use of dyes and other shrimp paste has a yellow red color with the use of natural raw materials.

Abstract:
This paper deals with “Thirty-one Beautiful Green Trees”, a short story written in Arabic by Salwa Bakr, the Egyptian critic, novelist and author. The reading I propose is extracted from deep ecology, namely the ecological self. It highlights the self’s identification with nature; opening one’s self up to the multifarious surrounding life forms, even when one lives in an urban setting. I hope to demonstrate that Kareema Fahmi, the protagonist, embodies the ecological self and tries to promote environmental ethics in the various settings in which the events unfold—her neighborhood, her work place, and the asylum she is admitted to. The events of the story also bring to the fore her experience of a marginalized woman in conservative patriarchal Egyptian society. I hope to illustrate how her concern for the quality of life, her love of nature, her love of her city Cairo and her feelings of oneness with the ecosystem, paradoxically, lead to tragic consequences of greater marginalization, and isolation, thus underscoring the cultural specificity of the story at hand. “Thirty-one Beautiful Green Trees” is unique in its representation of an Egyptian ecological self, that of a sensitive and environmentally conscious but ostracized young woman who desperately struggles to promote environmental ethics, free herself from bondage and assert her individuality in a society where women are silenced.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Magistro darbe "Sala šiuolaikinėje moterų prozoje" analizuojama salos tema pasirinktuose trijuose mterų romanuose - Birutės jonuškaitės "Didžioji sala", Sue Monk Kidd "Undinės krėslas", Victoria Hislop "Sala". Remiantis feministinės kritikos, hermeneutiniu ir lyginamuoju metodu buvo siektina atskleisti salos erdves - geografinę, dvasinę ir mitinę, bei jos funkcijas, prasmes moterų gyvenime. Klasikiniuose vyrų romanuose sala atsiskleidžia kaip veikėjų prieglobstis, kalėjimas, išbandymų vieta ar idealusis pasaulis.Darbo analizė atskleidžia gilesnį salos kontekstą - jos geografinė erdvė ir laikas susilieja su moters pasąmone, atveria moteriai vidinio pasaulio erdves. aiškinamasi, kokiu būdu moterų proza per įvairius mitinius simbolius analizuoja moters tapatybės, saviidentifikacijos problemą, kuri išsprendžiama tik salos kontekste.
In the Master’s degree work called „An Island in Women’s Contemporary Prose” it is analyzed the theme of an island. To analyze the following theme there were chosen three novels written by women―writers, i. e. Birutė Jonuškaitė „The Great Island”, Sue Monk Kidd „The Mermaid Chair” and Victoria Hislop „The Island”. The aim of the work is to reveal spiritual, mythological and geographical spaces of the island, as well as its funkctions and meanings in women’s life. The aim of revealing spaces was reached with the help of feminist criticism, as well as hermeneutic and comparative methods. In classical novels written by men―writers the island is show as the main character’s shelter, prison, challenge place or perfect world. Whereas, work analysis presents us another island’s concept in the novels written by women―writers. The island’s geographical space and time merge together with woman’s subconsciousness revealing spaces of inner world for the woman. In the work it is analyzed in which way women’s prose with the help of various mythological symbols analizes woman’s identity and self―identity problem which is solved only in the context of the island.

Full text
Abstract:
Despite the historical absence of women in "Entre que caben cien" and of their directing roles in the scene, an interesting aspect of the ethnography is that when they assume a certain visibility within the scene they appear to be more permissible than men regarding the selection of other salsa songs and of other music styles that distance themselves from the so-called "salsa brava", questioning at this point whether the latter really exists, or does it perhaps ceases to be such when it begins to be called like this? This lends us to other significant questions such as to what extent the more one insists on otherness the more one tries to legitimate what he doesn't want to be? While bigger gets the desire for authenticity and alternative, more massive and hegemonic it becomes? While the bigger the quest for own manifestations derived from subaltern and marginalized culture gets, more extended get the petit bourgeois practices that end up disguising or adapting the first to the taste of the second?

The necropolies of the ancient town of sala (marocco) lie on the southern and western outskirts of the "merinid ribat" of chellah, near rabat. 362 tombs were dug up in 1966-67, following the finds of 1917-1925. They are divided into 274 incinerations and 88 inhumations grouped together in grants. Incinerations were placed in terra-cotta urns, laid in some hewn stone low structureen sometimes in the hearthpit, and in most casesin a depot-pit, the cremation having taken place in ustrina. Funeral (ornaments, jewels, balsampots, coins, charms, etc. ) and food offering were leftin the piys. Incinerations cover the period from the ist century e. C. To the 2nd century. Inhumations were laid in tile or slab boxes, or more often, in the open ground; in the case of small children which did not undergo cremation, in cut amphoras. Few offering went to buried corpses. The practice of inhumation is more difficultto date because of the poverty of the graves, and seems to go back to the ist century, but tombs from the 2nd and 3rd centuries were mainly identified. The catalogue of the tombs, in the second part of the work, gives an analysis of every piece of the funeral furniture, and tries to date it

Abstract:
This chapter explores literary engagements with Coptic Christianity in works by Baha’ Tahir, Idwar al-Kharrat, Salwa Bakr and Yusuf Zaydan. It explores Baha’ Tahir’s Khalati Safiyya wa’l-Dayr (1991) as a complex allegory of religious tolerance and reads Idwar al-Kharrat’s Turabuha Zaʿfaran (1986) as an example of Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of minor discourse whilst paying attention to Christian scriptural reference and themes of religious tolerance and Coptic identity. It then examines how Salwa Bakr’s Al-Bashmuri (1998) and Yusuf Zaydan’s ‘Azazil (2008) rewrite history from a Coptic perspective in order to redress the historical marginalisation of Egypt’s Christians and to destabilise certain myths of history and nation. Religious tolerance, religious violence and religious criticism as represented in these works are also examined.

Abstract:
This chapter explores feminist engagements with religion in works by Nawal Sa’dawi and Salwa Bakr. It reads Sa’dawi’s Suqut al-Imam (1987) and Jannat wa Iblis (1992) as feminist dystopias which employ unconventional narrative techniques to augment the dystopic effect and take issue with the founding texts of monotheism as historic vehicles for female oppression. It discusses Salwa Bakr’s rehabilitation of Zulaykha in Wasf al-Bulbul (1993) and explores Al-ʿAraba al-Dhahibiyya la Tasʿad ila al-Samaʾ (1991) by the same author as a critique of religion via the trope of madness, paying attention to how religion, as belief, custom, institution and law, is implicated in the plight of women in the text. The discussion also takes in the Alifa Rifʿat’s stories as a rare example of Islamic literature admitted to the canon. Each of these four chapters begins with a contextual introduction.

Abstract:

The Launch of the National Rollout of the Municipal Innovation Maturity Index (MIMI) (A tool to measure innovation in municipalities). Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.17159/assaf.2021/0076.

Full text
Abstract:
The MIMI project was initiated by the DSI in partnership with the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the HSRC and UKZN. The purpose of this initiative was to develop an innovative tool capable of assessing and measuring the innovation landscape in municipalities, thus enabling municipalities to adopt innovative practices to improve service delivery. The outcome of the implementation testing, based on the participation of 22 municipalities, demonstrated the value and the capacity of MIMI to produce innovation maturity scores for municipalities. The digital assessment tool looked at how a municipality, as an organisation, responds to science, technology and innovation (STI) linked to service delivery, and the innovation capabilities and readiness of the municipality and the officials themselves. The tool is also designed to recommend areas of improvements in adopting innovative practices and nurturing an innovation mindset for impactful municipal service delivery. The plan going forward is to conduct learning forums to train municipal officials on how to use the MIMI digital platform, inform them about the nationwide implementation rollout plan and support municipal officials to engage in interactive and shared learnings to allow them to move to higher innovation maturity levels. The virtual launch featured a keynote address by the DSI Director-General, Dr Phil Mjwara; Prof Mehmet Akif Demircioglu from the National University of Singapore gave an international perspective on innovation measurements in the public sector; and messages of support were received from MIMI partners, delivered by Prof Mosa Moshabela, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Research at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and Prof Leickness Simbayi, Acting CEO of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). It attracted over 200 attendees from municipalities, government, business and private sector stakeholders, academics, policymakers and the international audience. @ASSAf_Official; @dsigovza; #MIMI_Launch; #IID
