Abstract:
ABSTRACT Here, we report that the S-acyl-2-mercaptobenzamide thioester (SAMT) class of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) nucleocapsid protein (NCp7) inhibitors was able to prevent transmission of HIV-1 from infected cells, including primary cells. Furthermore, when SAMTs were introduced during an HIV-1 challenge of cervical explant tissue, inhibition of dissemination of infectious virus by cells emigrating from the tissue explants was observed. Preliminary studies using a rhesus macaque vaginal challenge model with mixed R5 and X4 simian-human immunodeficiency virus infection found that five of six monkeys were completely protected, with the remaining animal being partially protected, infected only by the R5 virus. These data suggest that SAMTs may be promising new drug candidates for further development in anti-HIV-1 topical microbicide applications.

Abstract:
In March 1997, we analyzed the water of all tubewells used for drinking in Samta village in the Jessore district, Bangladesh. It has been confirmed from the survey that the arsenic contamination in Samta was one of the worst in the Ganges basin including West Bengal, India. 90% of the tubewells had arsenic concentrations above the Bangladesh standard of 0.05 mg/l. Tubewells with higher arsenic concentrations of over 0.50 mg/l were distributed in the southern area with a belt-like shape from east to west, and the distribution of arsenic concentration showed gradual decreasing toward northern area of the village. In order to examine the characteristics of the arsenic distribution in Samta, we have performed investigations such as: 1) the characteristics of groundwater flow, 2) the distribution of arsenic in the ground, 3) the concentration of arsenic and the other dissolved materials in groundwater, and 4) the distribution of arsenic concentration of trivalence and pentavalence. This paper examines the mechanism of arsenic release to groundwater and explains the above-mentioned characteristics of the arsenic contamination in Samta through the investigations of the survey results for these years.

In September 2011, I visited two universities in Finland as part of Magellan faculty exchange: Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences in Pori (RAMK) and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in Pori and Rauma (SAMK). It was such a wonderful and rewarding trip that I decided to share my experience with students to encourage them to study abroad. to encourage them to study abroad. Arkansas State University is a member of Magellan Exchange Program (http://www.magellanexchange.org/). The mission of this program is “to provide opportunities for students and faculty to have an affordable educational and cultural immersion experience.” I decided to apply for this exchange to foster my professional development and to establish new contacts for cross-cultural collaboration in my area of research.

Abstract:
Background. Modeling architectural aspects of the system is an essential activity in software development. Inthis context, developers work in parallel, and collaborate to define application software models, such as classdiagrams. Problem. Although many software modeling tools have been proposed, there is a lack of distributed collaboration features. Solution. This study proposes C-SAMT, a web tool for collaborative modeling of UML class diagrams. Developers can benefit from using C-SAMT when performing modeling tasks, such as creating domain models in parallel, and collaboratively. Evaluation. We recruited 20 industry professionals to perform a qualitative evaluation of the tool through a questionnaire. Results. Majority of Industry professionals (85%, 17/20) reported that totally agree that the communication channel of the tool worked properly, they also (80%, 16/20) totally agreed the models generated collaboratively with C-SAMT had small numbers of conflicts, and they also (90%, 18/20) perceived improved productivity gains using the proposed tool. Conclusion. C-SAMT provided a collaborative environment, which were positively evaluated by developers, who reported that C-SAMT had a good communication channel between team members.

Abstract:
This research needs to be carried out to help improve the people’s economy. Stems from seeing the availability of chromium leather waste in Magetan that is not utilized properly. O n the other hand, there is a quality product that is processed products of agarwood in West Kalimantan, especially in the CV Global Agarwood Station but not selling because the packaging is not designed to be attractive. Agarwood can be processed into chips, oils that can be used for aromatherapy and parfume, and agarwood sculpture. Therefore, this research is expected to be able to realize the packaging of agarwood processed wood products by considering the composition of the design elements of the chrome tanned leather waste material in Magetan. This research method uses the flow or stages, namely predesign, design, embodiment, and presentation. Chrome leather packaging products produced apply the composition of design elements from two cultures in West Kalimantan, namely Dayak and Malay with hand sewing techniques, machine sewing, laser, and punching. Cultural elements of both, such as flora, specificity of the ornaments, and the specificity of colors appearing on the product packaging. This product packaging is expected to increase the selling value of agarwood processed wood products.Penelitian ini perlu dilaksanakan untuk membantu peningkatan perekonomian rakyat. Bermula dari melihat ketersediaan limbah kulit samak krom di Magetan yang tidak dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Di lain hal, ada suatu produk berkualitas yakni produk olahan kayu gaharu yang ada di Kalimantan Barat khususnya di CV Global Agarwood Station tetapi kurang menjual karena kemasannya tidak dirancang menarik. Kayu gaharu dapat diolah menjadi serpihan kayu (chip), minyak yang bisa dimanfaatkan untuk aromaterapi dan parfum, serta agarwood sculpture. Untuk itu, melalui penelitian ini diharapkan mampu mewujudkan kemasan produk olahan kayu gaharu dengan mempertimbangkan komposisi elemen desain dari bahan limbah kulit samak krom yang ada di Magetan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan alur atau tahapan, yakni: praperancangan, perancangan, perwujudan, dan penyajian. Produk kemasan berbahan kulit samak krom yang dihasilkan mengaplikasikan komposisi elemen desain dari dua budaya yang ada di Kalimantan Barat, yaitu Dayak dan Melayu dengan teknik jahit tangan, jahit mesin, laser, dan punching. Unsur-unsur budaya dari keduanya, seperti flora, kekhasan ornamen, dan kekhasan warna dimunculkan pada kemasan produknya. Dengan kemasan produk ini diharapkan menambah nilai jual produk olahan kayu gaharu.

Abstract:
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still a health problem in Indonesia, including in West Kalimantan Province. The Integrated Model of Community-Based Total Vector Control (PVTBM) and Sticky Autocidal Mosquito Trap (SAMT) is expected to reduce the density of larvae, so that the incidence of dengue can be reduced to the lowest point in the endemic area of Pontianak. This study analyzed the effects of the PVTBM-SAMT integrated model in controlling dengue vectors in endemic areas of Pontianak City. This type of research is Interrupted time series with a nonequivalent no-treatment control group time series. The sample of this study was 200 houses, consisting of 100 houses in the intervention area and 100 houses in the control area. The results showed a decrease in the mean larval density index in the intervention area, namely; HI was 25%, CI was 11.17%, BI was 38%. Statistical analysis showed that the PVTBM-SAMT integration model had a significant effect on the density of larvae: HI, CI, and BI with p values: 0.049, 0.047, and 0.042. It is recommended that the health office and primary health care be able to apply the PVTBM-SAMT method in controlling DHF vector activities and also in the implementation of surveillance and control of Aedes aegypti vector. Abstrak Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) masih menjadi masalah kesehatan di Indonesia, termasuk di Provinsi Kalimantan Barat. Aplikasi Model Terpadu Pengendalian Vektor Total Berbasis Masyarakat (PVTBM) dan Sticky Autocidal Mosquito Trap (SAMT) bertujuan menurunkan densitas Larva. Penelitian ini menganalisis efek model terintegrasi PVTBM-SAMT dalam pengendalian vektor DBD di wilayah endemis Kota Pontianak. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen murni dengan rancangan Interrupted time series with a nonequivalent no-treatment control group time series. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 200 rumah, terdiri dari 100 rumah di wilayah intervensi dan 100 rumah di wilayah pembanding. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terjadi penurunan rerata indeks kepadatan larva pada wilayah intervensi yaitu; HI sebesar 25%, CI sebesar 11,17%, BI sebesar 38% dan wilayah pembanding. Analisis statistik terdapat perbedaan densitas larva: HI, CI, dan BI sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan secara signifikan dengan nilai p: 0,049, 0,047, dan 0,042. Dinas kesehatan dan puskesmasisarankan dapat menerapkan metode PVTBM-SAMT dalam kegiatan pengendalian vektor DBD dan juga dalam pelaksanaan surveilans serta pengendalian vektor Aedes aegypti.

At falde fra et universitetsstudium sker i en proces mellem individuelle egenskaber og mødet med uddannelsesinstitutionen. Tidligere forskning har peget på betydningen af at komme fra ikke-uddannelsesvante hjem. Dette studie undersøger, i et frafaldsperspektiv, hvad forældres uddannelsesbaggrund samt adgangsgivende karaktergennemsnit betyder for mødet med det faglige niveau og studiemiljøet – og yderligere betydningen af individuelle baggrundskarakteristika for frafaldsrisikoen generelt. På baggrund af en kombination af spørgeskemadata fra 420 frafaldne studerende samt studieadministrativt data fra 10.226 studerende, begge dele fra fakultetet Arts på Aarhus Universitet, finder vi, at der blandt frafaldne studerende er et lavere adgangsgivende karaktergennemsnit forbundet med mere negative oplevelser af det faglige niveau, samt at studerende med forældre uden længere videregående uddannelser oplever at få mindre støtte og feedback fra undervisere. ABSTRAK Usaha penyamakan kulit ikan Pari umumnya dilakukan oleh usaha kecil menengah dan hanya menggunakan metode aldehid dengan bahan samak formalin, Selain itu juga belum diketahui kualitas kulit ikan Pari Mondol tersamak yang menggunakan bahan samak krom. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan penggunaan jenis bahan penyamak terhadap kualitas fisik dan kimiawi kulit ikan Pari Mondol tersamak. Materi penelitian berupa kulit ikan Pari Mondol (Himantura gerrardi) dan bahan samak. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental laboratoris. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan perlakuan bahan samak yang berbeda, yaitu formalin, krom, dan kombinasi. Masing-masing perlakuan diulang tiga kali. Variabel mutu yang diamati adalah kekuatan tarik, kemuluran, kekuatan sobek, ketebalan, suhu kerut, ketahanan bengkuk (bengkok), pH dan kadar air. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dan perbedaan diantara perlakuan diuji dengan Uji Tukey. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan bahan penyamak menyebabkan pengaruh nyata terhadap nilai kekuatan tarik, kekuatan sobek dan ketebalan tetapi tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap nilai pH, kadar air dan ketahanan bengkuk. Produk yang terbaik yaitu kulit ikan Pari Mondol yang disamak dengan bahan samak kombinasi antara krom dan mimosa, yang sebagian persyaratan mutunya sudah memenuhi persyaratan mutu kulit ikan Pari tersamak menurut SNI 06-6121-1999. Kata kunci: Kualitas, kulit Ikan Pari, penyamak ABSTRACT Meanwhile the quality of Stingray tanned leather which using chrome tannin materials was not yet known. This research aims to determine the effect of different types used tannin materials towards physical and chemical quality of Stingray leather quality. The materials used in this research isStingray (Himantura gerrardi) skin and tannin materials. The study was conducted with laboratory experimental method. The experiments was designed according to the Randomized Block Design with different tanning materials (formalin, chrome, and chrome-combination). Each treatment was done with in triplicate. The quality variables that measured were tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, thickness, shrinkage temperature, bent resistance, pH and moisture content. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance. To find the difference between treatments, the data were tested with Honestly Significant Difference Test . The results showed that various of tannin materials gave significant effects to the values of tensile strength, tear strength and thickness however there was not any significant effect on bent resistance, moisture content and pH value. The best product were Stingray tanned leather with chrome-combination tannin material, which partially quality requirements has been comply with Stingray tanned leather quality requirements according to SNI. Jeg har igennem en årrække – og med succes – brugt CL i min undervisning på Danmarks Tekniske Universitet. I denne artikel vil jeg beskrive det udviklingsarbejde, jeg har gjort med indførelse af CL, så der er en mere klar sammenhæng mellem læringsmål og undervisningsform, samt hvordan de studerende i denne sammenhæng bliver bedømt. Bedømmelsen gælder både deres faglige niveau, samt mere generelle ingeniørkompetencer.

Gruppebaserede læringsrum er karakteriseret ved stor variation i design og aktiviteter, hvilket kan give anledning til uensartet forståelse af rummene. Vi undersøger, hvordan studerende oplever tre læringsrum samt deres betydning for læringsudbyttet. Samtidig undersøges en konkret model; Group Learning Activity Instructional Design Model (GLAID-modellen) som analyseredskab ved design og evaluering af gruppebaserede læringsrum. Studenterevalueringer samt fokusgruppeinterviews, vedrørende læringsrummene Workshop, Digital Arbejdsportfolio og Opsamling, analyseres og diskuteres under inddragelse af teori om gruppebaseret læring og design af gruppebaserede lærings-aktiviteter. Overordnet set oplever de studerende de gruppebaserede læringsrum som væsentlige for deres læringsudbytte. Samtidigt ses, at ikke alle studerende anvender rummene som intenderet. GLAID-modellen guider til fokus på aktuelle design-komponenter. De planlagte læringsrum understøtter potentielt forskellige dele af læreprocessen, men vi når ikke altid i mål med vores intentioner. Facilitering samt tydeliggørelse af intentionen med læringsrummene skal styrkes. GLAID-modellen bidrager til skærpet opmærksomhed og struktureret refleksion og vurderes relevant på flere uddannelsesniveauer.

En 65-årig comorbid mand med flere dages anamnese af diarré samt nedsat muskelkraft, blev efter en faldepisode indlagt på akutmodtagelsen. Han var i forvejen kendt med blandt andet kronisk nefropati og i behandling med medicin, der vides at kunne påvirke nyrefunktionen samt medføre hyperkaliæmi.På baggrund af kombinationen af polyfarmaci, bestående nyresygdom og diarré udviklede patienten akut nyresvigt med svær hyperkaliæmi og hjertepåvirkning til følge.Casen illustrerer, hvordan polyfarmaceutisk behandling af comorbide patienter nemt kan tage en uheldig drejning, og hvor vigtigt det er, at der passes ekstra godt på disse patienter.

Forfatteren efterlyser analyser, der overskrider de partielle analysers begrænsninger, feks. ved at sammenholde finansiering og dimensionering af beskæftigelseindsatsen med resultater for de ledige og kommunekassen, samt med sagsbehandlernes arbejdsmiljø. De etniske minoriteter har en højere ledighed end den øvrige befolkning. Forskerne er enige om, at dette til en vis grad skyldes etnisk betinget diskrimination. Artiklen forsøger at indkredse denne diskrimination, dens former og årsager samt hvad man kan gøre for at afskaffe den. Det er et udgangspunkt for artiklens diskussion, at hvis man undgår diskrimination samt opnår ligebehandling og reel ligestilling på arbejdsmarkedet, er dette et stort skridt i retning af de etniske minoritetsgruppers integration på arbejdsmarkedet, hvilket vil være stærkt fremmende for yderligere integration både på arbejdsmarkedet og i resten af samfundslivet.
