Abstract:
The paper examines two key novels by Sandro Veronesi, the modern Italian writer, Calm Chaos (2006) and Colibri (2020). Both novels were awarded Italy’s main literary prize, the Premio Strega, which is a unique precedent. The relevance of the article comes from the high demand for research on contemporary Italian literature on the one hand and from the novelty of the proposed interpretation for the novel Calm Chaos on the other hand. For the first time, the protagonist of Calm Chaos, Pietro Palladini, is presented not as a preacher of eternal values, returning the reader to the theme of knowing

The utopian myth of the new man is a concept present in all eras. Religion, philosophy, politics, literature, art, science perceive the new man as a perfect individual, a hero or a charismatic leader of a new humanity, liberated from all evil. In the second half of the 19th century, the revolutionary concept of individual freedom is transformed into a collective vision, the vision of a dominant race composed of "ordinary" people united by a common experience. The issue of subjectivity regains fundamental importance for humanistic thought in the second half of the 20th century, among others, th

The article is concerned with the perception of Pasolini’s works and ideas in the contemporary Italian literature. Many modern writers mention or refer to Pasolini in their works. For some of them he is a brilliant rebel of the 1970s (Elena Ferrante), others are still shocked by his death (Andrea Baiani), some turn to his literary heritage, borrowing individual ideas and images (the idea of Post-history cited by Antonio Scurati, the theme of duplicity by Sandro Veronesi, the theme of consumerism in modern society by Walter City) or echo by the very structure of their works (Giuseppe Genna). Abstract:
Veronesi buduje system wartości swego bohatera poprzez przeciwstawienie postawy cierpliwego trwania na przekór przeciwnościom losu rozpowszechnionemu modelowi etycznemu, promującemu zmienność i labilność postaw i przekonań.
