Abstract:
This is an essay about love and gender representation in Håkan Hellström’s and Veronica Maggio’s lyrics. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how lyrics of indie-pop music represent gender, sexuality and love. The lyrics used is from love songs performed by Håkan Hellström and Veronica Maggio. The method for examining the lyrics of the love songs is discourse- theory and analysis. I analyzed the results using theories about performativity, heteronormativity and masculine hegemonyic masculinity. I found patterns which indicate that love songs in indie-pop music often represents an ideal relationship to be heteronomy, meaning a heterosexual and monogamous relationship between a man and a woman. Although, there were differences between how a masculinity was built; Hellström’s discourse built a masculinity that was fragile and vulnerable, but still loving and showing a lot of emotions. Maggios discourse built a masculinity that were more or less mirroring the society’s view of how a “man” is supposed to be. Also, the view of femininity differed from the two artists: Hellström’s discourse built a femininity of strong and controlling women, and Maggio’s built a more fragile and normative discourse about femininity. Another theme that was discovered was of all the disappointment that was found in love. Indie-pop’s love is always built around disappointment in the relationship – that you will always be disappointed either by yourself or by your partner.

Abstract:
Denna text är den skrivna delen av ett kontnärligt masterprojekt vid KMH, Kungliga Musikhögskolan, Stockholm. Arbetets syfte är att utforska perspektiv och ingångar för att främja en kompositionsprocess av text och ton i kreativt flöde och att ringa in dessa i ett slags metod. Perspektiven reorientering, härmning, lek och risk, genererade ur Csikszentmihalyis teorier om förutsättningar för flow-tillstånd, liksom improvisationsteaterns grepp bejakande, tillämpas på komposition och konstnärlig gestaltning. Ett annat mål med projektet är att framhäva texten i musikstyckena genom kompositoriska och gestaltande metoder, och att skapa förutsättningar för musikalisk improvisation som förhåller sig till texternas tema och dramaturgi och förstärker dem. I reflektioner över de konstnärliga resultaten- kompositionerna och deras gestaltning under en konsert- dras slutsatser om hur och när flowtillståndet uppstår och avtar under kompositionsprocesser, om vilka verktyg som kan få det kreativa flödet att återkomma när det upphört, och om vad som krävs för att undvika det absorberande flowtillståndets risker.
This text is the written part of an artistic master’s project at KMH, Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden. The purpose of this work is to explore perspectives and inputs to promote a composition process of text and tone in creative flow and to make them into some kind of method. The perspectives of reorientation, mimicry, play and risk, generated from Csikszentmihalyi's theories about conditions for the rise of flow state, as well as the improvisation theater's affirmative concept of Yes-and…, are applied to musical composition and artistic interpretation. Another objective of the project is to emphasize the role of the text in the pieces of music through compositional and interpretative methods, and to create conditions for musical improvisation that relate to the theme and drama of the texts reinforcing them. In reflections on the artistic results – the compositions and the performance of those in a concert - conclusions are drawn about how and when the flow state arises and decreases in composition processes, and about which tools can bring creative flow back after ceasing and about what is needed to avoid the risks of the absorbent flow state.

Abstract:
Denna studie handlar om vilken sorts matematiska begrepp som barnen i förskolan möter i sångtexter. Den har även analyserat vilken kunskap förskollärarna säger att de tror sångtexterna förmedlar och hur mycket de använder sig av sången i den dagligaverksamheten. I studien har tre kvalitativa intervjuer med pedagoger genomförts på olika förskolor, och analyser av nio sångtexter har gjorts.Frågeställningarna var: Vilka matematiska begrepp finns i de sångtexter barnen möter på förskolan? Vilka kunskaper säger pedagogerna i förskolan sig tro att sångtexterna ger barnen? Hur mycket använder sig pedagogerna av musik och sång i verksamheten? För att få reda på vilken sorts matematik och vilka begrepp som fanns i sångerna så analyserades sångtexterna och olika ”kategorier” undersöktes. De som hittades var: rumsuppfattning, tid, vikt och längd, form och räkneord. I intervjuerna framkom att barn lär sig väldigt mycket när de sjunger enligt pedagogerna. Alla pedagogerna var överens om att barnen lär sig språk och matematik genom att sjunga. Studien kom fram till att på avdelningarna där de intervjuade pedagogerna arbetar sjunger man varje dag, både spontant och inplanerat.
This study is about what kind of mathematics children in preschool encounter in song lyrics. The study has focused on what kind of knowledge preschool teachers think that the song lyrics conveys and how much they use music during the day. In the study three qualitative interviews were conducted with teachers at different preschools, and nine lyrics were analyzed. The research questions are: What mathematical concepts do children meet in song lyrics in preschool? What knowledge do teachers say they believe that the song lyrics convey to the children?How much do the teachers use music and song in their work? To find out what kind of mathematics there was in the music, lyrics were analyzed and different “categories” were found. These were: spatial perception, time, weight and length, shape and numbers. From the interviews it was concluded that teachers believe children learn very much when they sing. All teachers agreed that children can learn language and maths from song. The study concluded that in the preschool groups where the interviewed teachers work they sing every day, both spontaneously and according to schedule.

Abstract:

Sångtexter motsvarande 352 skivspår insjungna av den svenske sångaren och låtskrivaren Alf Robertson studeras med tonvikt på de 72 egna originaltexterna och 152 egna översättningarna av som regel amerikanska originaltexter. Robertson kännetecknas som en sångare vars repertoar domineras av översatta texter framförda av honom själv som om det var hans egna. De översatta texterna analyseras utifrån hur konflikter mellan originaltexternas innehåll och den egna artistpersonans konstruktion hanterats. Ett antal återkommande teman i Robertsons texter beskrivs och exemplifieras via närläsning av utvalda texter. Sångtexternas subjekt analyseras och kvantifieras bl a utifrån om textjaget är könsfixerat eller ej. Två olika översättningar av samma originaltext analyseras kvantitativt med avseende på hur väl de följer originalet.
