Full textBlastocystis sp. is an organism described as enteroparasite protozoan, commonly found in stool samples from humans. Several subtypes have been described in humans, but pathogenic potential and aspects epidemiological are still controversial. The aim of the present study was to investigate Blastocystis subtypes (STs) from patients of Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (HC/FMUSP), Brazil. Blastocystis sp. positive stool samples diagnosed in Section of Parasitology of Central Laboratory (HC/FMUSP) were used for DNA isolation. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed using specific primers targeting the small subunit of rRNA gene. Direct DNA sequencing of PCR products was performed, and the DNA sequences were aligned and compared to other sequences present in GenBank and MLST database. Four STs were identified (ST1, ST2, ST3 and ST6), where the ST3 was the most prevalent ST among human isolates followed by ST1. Allele nos. 34 and 36 were the most frequent. Another important finding is the presence of ST6, rarely detected in human isolates. In conclusion, our results contribute to the molecular characterization and distribution of Blastocystis sp. STs in human stool specimens in Brazil.

Full textDue to the constant evolution of technology and the lack of time parents have to spend with their children, parents are more demanding regarding the information offered by school. Additionally, 40% of teachers’ time is spent in documentation processes. Thus, schools constantly and increasingly use new technologies, aiming for new customer relationship models and quality of service, efficacy and efficiency of processes and operations. This is the context in which mychild was founded. mychild is a web-based service focused on private daycares and preschools, providing teachers to communicate with parents in a very personalized, automatized and easy way. In addition to this, mychild also provides other fundamental tools for teacher organization and school administration. Present in Portugal and USA, mychild’s first strategic objective is to launch the platform in the second semester of 2014 in São Paulo, with the vision of becoming “the top 5 of the classroom SaaS solution for private daycares and preschools in São Paulo in the next 5 years”. After environmental context analysis, based on demographic, technologic, economic and educational factors, the São Paulo Municipality was found to be the one with the most potential to invest because of its 2691 private schools for childhood education, high internet access, computers and because of its constantly economic growth. Thus, mychild’s second strategic objective is to acquire 20% of the target market by 2017, which translates to 538 schools in the São Paulo Municipality and around 1,5M€ in revenues. With these objectives in mind, the most efficient way to enter in Brazil is through the establishment of a Brazilian subsidiary in São Paulo with the help of Establish Brazil, a Commercial Representative Company and a partnership with SIEEESP. Also, an implementation and a contingency plan, as well as recommendations were elaborated to support activities, processes and operations. The implementation plan was developed through Marketing Mix analysis, 4M’s methodology, risk analysis and the recommendations were fashioned with the successful internationalization.

Full textA cross-sectional study was undertaken in November-Decemberl1993 in \"Casa de Detenção\", São Paulo main prison, to evaluate risk factors and transmission of HIV and Mycobacterium tuberculosis infections and corresponding diseases. Six hundred and thirty-one male prisoners, selected by simple random sampling, agreed to participate. They were interviewed, had medical examination and laboratory tests. The HIV seroprevalence was 16,0%. The results obtained after correction for the effect of mortality from AIDS and HIV prevalence on admission suggest ocurrence of infection transmission within the prison. Seropositivity to hepatitis C vírus was the best predictive of HIV infection and injecting drug use the main risk factor. A ramdom1y selected nested case-control study, conducted in the HIV seropositive and equal number of HIV seronegative prisoners, indicated a potential transmission of infection within the prison, by drug use, sexual intercourse with same sex partners and intimate visitors. It was found that 84,3% of the individuaIs had a reaction of 10 mm or more and 93,0% had a reaction of 5mm or more to PPD test. The force and annual risk of tuberculosis infection were high in individuaIs with short permanence, decreasing and reaching zero in approximate1y five years, suggesting saturation of the infection. PPD induration of 5 mm or greater was shown to be the appropriate criterion for definition of tuberculin positivity for the HIV seronegative individuaIs. Tuberculosis prevalence in the sample was 2,4% whereas the incidence rate, according to institution records, was 2,65/100 person-years. The impact of HIV infection on increasing tuberculosis occurrence was estimated to be 40-124%. The high infection prevalence and concentration of injecting drug users make the prisional system a basic place in order to set up a programme of treatment, prevention and awareness about risks of transmission. The relative1y small number of prisoners annualy infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis indicate that disease control will not be obtained with infection on1y. In addition to chemopriphylaxis for HIV positive individuaIs there is a need to set up a programme for tuberculosis control in the whole prison system.

With the objective of analyzing the resonance of a continuous training course of teachers in a public school in the city of São Paulo in relation to teaching practice and interpersonal relations in the perspective of Education for ethnic-racial relations, the research focused on the presence of Bolivian students in this school and sought to understand the migratory phenomenon Bolivia-Brazil and its consequences in the inclusion of them. The importance of approaching the theme is justified by the diversity of ethnicities and cultures present in our country. In this school unit, there was a need to increase the knowledge of the different Latin cultures, due to the great immigration (mainly Bolivian) and the insertion of these immigrants and / or their descendants into the school community. To do so, the data collection procedures of this qualitative research were questionnaires with teachers involved in the training developed in 2015 or in project practices with immigrant students in the school unit and questionnaires applied to Bolivian immigrant students or descendants of the seventh, eighth and ninety years. The questions that surrounded the problematic of this research were: "What are the resonances of this formation about ethnic-racial relations in the teaching practice? Have there been changes? In what aspects? " Thus, the objective was to analyze the effects of this training on ethnic-racial relations between the different members of the school community in the period from 2015 to 2018, as well as the view of the students involved and the establishment of their ethnic-racial relations. Understanding these phenomena through the view of teachers and students is an exercise of listening in the dialogical and horizontal perspective of the relations founded in Paulo Freire. The results of the research point to resonances from teacher education, promoting projects related to diversity and interculturality, as well as increasing the participation of immigrant students in these projects, improving communication and school climate

São Paulo has received in their official territories the Holy Office in the year of 1628 as according to relatory obtained in the Portugal\'s Arquivo Nacional da Torre do Tombo (IAN/TT). It will be our aim analyses, between the XVI to the XVIII centuries, how was inserted the marranos, jews converted to the Catholicism in the year of 1497, in the domination group (whites, iberics, old-christians, and read and write people) in the São Paulo territory. We will analyses with the processes of judaizing paulistas induced into the Holy Office \"cárcere\", especially the burned one\'s and the accused who received the hardest penalties and returned to São Paulo. As the processes of Holy Office, we will apply the processes of genere et moribus of brazilian ecclesiastic archives, and many others of portuguese and brazilian archives. Once formed the leading circles of São Paulo - \"Elites Paulistas\" -, the new-christian population eliminated their jewish roots or maintained their original culture? Passed with a discriminated and conservative class, to a most influential and distinguishing part of the society?

Abstract: This study attempts to analyze the characteristics of the African immigrant labor in the city of Sao Paulo. Through a qualitative methodological approach, the research aims to shed light on the connections between the local and global dimensions of the African immigrant labor in the context of globalization. It investigates the role of the working class in globalization and poses question concerning the articulation between archaic and modern aspects of informal economic niches, in which African immigrants are employed where they come to Brazil in search of opportunities for social inclusion, academic education or a job so that they can sustain their families back home. In order to analyze the characteristics of this migration, this study focused on investigating mechanisms through which the international division of labor and the restructuring of production generate social inequalities worldwide. It concluded that understanding these mechanisms is essential to demonstrate that the emergence of the substantial equality is a primordial factor for the equilibrium of humanity
