AbstractThe shrew Crocidura thomensis is a little-known species endemic to São Tomé Island. We review its distribution, ecology and conservation status based on nine published and 23 new records. The species has a wide distribution across São Tomé, preferring rugged forested areas with high rainfall. The location of new records coincides with that of historical records but the proportion of records in plantations has declined, possibly as a result of agricultural intensification, increased use of pesticides, and presence of exotic species. The shrew is restricted to a single island, its extent

Abstract:
Here we report 59 new records of shore fishes for São Tomé and Príncipe islands (Gulf of Guinea), Eastern Atlantic Ocean. Ten of these are new species still to be described, including a new genus of a gobiid fish that lives in association with an axiid shrimp. A large proportion of the shore fishes of São Tomé and Principe occur on both sides of the Atlantic and many have their sister-species in the western Atlantic. To a lesser degree, there are also affinities to the western Indian Ocean.

The São Tomé white-toothed shrew Crocidura thomensis is endemic to the island of São Tomé in the Gulf of Guinea. This species was discovered in 1886 and since then has been recorded from fewer than 10 locations. This paper summarizes all published and unpublished information on C. thomensis. The species is currently listed by the IUCN as ‘Insufficiently Known’, but using the new IUCN Red List Categories is re-classified as ‘Vulnerable B1 + 2c’. Threats to the survival of C. thomensis include deforestation, plantation redevelopment and predation by introduced mammals.

Os resultados obtidos permitiram as seguintes conclusões: A cultivar Mysore mostrou maior período do plantio ao florescimento, e as cultivares Nanica e São Tomé, menores. As cultivares Ouro-da-Mata e Ourinho apresentaram menor ciclo do plantio à
