Les écorces de sapin de Douglas sont utilisées comme biosorbant. Les isothermes d'adsorption et leur traduction par le modèle de Langmuir conduisent pour des écorces brutes à des valeurs de capacité d'adsorption maximale (qmax) de 0,242 et 0,199 méq. G-1 et d'affinité (b) de 4,8 et 2,6 L. Méq-1 pour les cations PbII et CdII respectivement. SaPI1 encodes a small terminase protein that belongs to the phage small terminase subunit family. The process wastewater from three blue crab processing plants in Virginia was characterized. Most of these effluent streams were highly concentrated. For example, the retort water from the cookers exhibited the following concentrations: BOD<sub>5</sub> = 14,000-29,000 mg/L, TSS = 650-6,200 mg/L, TKN-N = 2,500-4,000 mg/L, NH3-N = 70-160 mg/L and Total Phosphorus= 100-185 mg/L. The present research examined respiratory responses of blue crabs to long term (4, 13, and 21 days) hypercapnic hypoxia in freshwater at 23 C. Hypoxic conditions (50-60 & 75-85 mmHg O2) were induced by allowing the crabs to consume their oxygen supply, resulting in a hypercapnic induced decrease in pH that remained through the exposure. Postbranchial hemolymph responses to hypoxia/hypercapnia in freshwater demonstrate decreases in PO2, increases in PCO2, and decreases in pH. The blue crab, Callinectes sapidus, represents an ecologically and economically important component of marine and estuarine ecosystems. In Florida, blue crab landings accounted for $9.6 million dollars during the 2010 fishing season. Accurate stock assessments for this valuable fishery are essential. Age is a critical biological component of accurate stock assessments; however, blue crabs and other crustaceans are especially difficult to age because of the complex nature of discrete growth.
