Abstract:
The article analyzes the construction of wheeled roads in Balkarian societies in the second half of the 19th century, based on the attracted archival material, which were extremely necessary for the residents of high-mountainous villages and the Russian administration. The construction of roads required colossal efforts of all residents of Balkaria, support of the district and regional authorities – gunpowder, sappers, engineering solutions. The material on the financial, material and labor costs of the entire population of Balkar societies is generalized, which gave reason to call them folk. The roads connected the highlanders with the flat part of the Kabardian district, helped to draw them into the system of commodity-money and socio-cultural relations of the Russian Empire. The facts indicate that the inhabitants of Balkar societies have certain financial savings spent on vital communication routes for them, which created the best conditions for the annual transportation of livestock to the plane – in spring and autumn, the delivery of bread, household goods, products of factories and plants, and the sale of manufactured products. The constructed roads contributed to the transformation of the traditional organization of work and life, ensuring the penetration of new social relations into the environment of Balkar society.

Abstract:
The union of these collections and the addition of the models of St. Paul’s and various classical buildings, betoken what an Architectural Museum may become, if the individuals and the State will act together. Every foreigner who has seen this commencement sees in it the germ of the finest Architectural Museum in Europe, if the public support the attempt. From the first years of its establishment in June 1857, to the end of the nineteenth century, the South Kensington Museum had amongst its collections over a hundred architectural models. First they were acquired through a policy of encouraged loans and gifts, followed by pro-actively commissioning model makers; other models, however, were at South Kensington through default, having remained on site where they had been made by ‘sappers’. The models, which included examples of Western, Asian and Far Eastern buildings and monuments, were first shown in displays under the headings of Ornamental, Architectural, Economics, and Educational. To give an indication of their initial importance to the museum, the early guidebooks feature architectural models amongst the ‘principle objects in the gallery’. Twenty years later most models had been transferred from what were essentially style galleries to the more utilitarian displays concerned with architectural and engineering practices, and within them they were merely included as part of the broader contextual themes. By the turn of the century, with the exception of the 1901 handbook to the models of Italian Renaissance painted interiors, they were rarely referred to at all in museum publications. By 1912 (soon after the Science and Art collections had been divided on either side of the Exhibition Road) most of the models were no longer on display and were thought by senior keepers to be of little use to museum collections. Many had been de-accessioned by the 1970s, when their position in the doldrums was reversed and models were once again included in the museum displays and exhibitions. This article explores the changes in attitude towards architectural models during the first 120 years of the V&A, focusing on the models of Western buildings.

Abstract:
Object of research: comparative assessment and selection of an unmanned aerial vehicle for mine reconnaissance sample. Investigated problem: substantiation of the methodological apparatus for comparative assessment and selection of an unmanned aerial vehicle for mine reconnaissance sample, taking into consideration the presence of both quantitative and qualitative indicators. Main scientific results: the methods of comparative assessment and selection of an unmanned aerial vehicle for mine reconnaissance sample is developed. The technique is based on an expert method, which allows a drone sample to be evaluated and selected objectively, taking into consideration the presence of both quantitative and qualitative indicators. At the same time, group interaction and discussion of experts are realized. When the judgments do not coincide, an artificial consensus is not imposed. The number of experts is not limited. The experts are not linked in any way. The need to ensure transitive consistency (10–12 %) makes it possible to record attempts by an expert (experts) to artificially overestimate the indicators of one of the drone samples (or the one being evaluated), therefore, the indicators of another sample will automatically deteriorate. The principle of impartiality and fairness is maintained. A well-trained objective coordinator is not required, and the reality is that the absence of the disrupting the problem solution possibility is due to a change in the psychological situation among the experts. Area of practical use of research results: humanitarian demining in the interests of ensuring the detection of mines for various purposes by sappers from a safe distance. At the same time, an increase within the probability of mines detecting is ensured due to special equipment installed onboard the drone. Innovative technological product: a technique has been developed that allows not only assessing the drone samples for mine reconnaissance objectively, but making an objective choice of a sample for specific requirements also. Scope of application of the innovative technological product: clearance of the terrain remaining after the end of hostilities. With the help of unmanned aerial vehicles, a significant acceleration of the demining process is possible, especially in those territories where mines are installed and being for a sufficiently long time.

Abstract: The characterization of clients is an important step in the evaluation of services offered by campus counseling and mental health centers and in their further planning and development. The objectives of the present study were to describe reported demographics, academic and complaint of students (undergraduate and graduate) who sought counseling/mental health care at a Brazilian campus (Unicamp) mental health service (Serviço de Asssistência Psicológica e Psiquiátrica ao Estudante - Sappe) over 17 years (march/1987 - march/2004). Compare such characteristics to those of the overall university student body. Methods: Participants were all 2.496 students who sought counseling/mental health care at SAPPE. Information was obtained from client's clinical chart. Unicamp's data base was consulted for information about overall university students. Results: Findings indicated an overrepresentation, among clients, of undergraduates, female students, students from Brazilian states other than Sao Paulo, students living in the campus residence hall and those whose main source of income was a scholarship grant. We also found an overrepresentation of Humanities and Arts student-clients. The most frequently reported complaints were: difficulties in interpersonal relationships, family conflicts and poor academic performance. Conclusion: Course level (undergraduate or graduate), study field, living in a university residential facility and reliance on a scholarship grant were found to influence the mental health seeking behavior of Brazilian university students in this study. Course level was found to influence the pattern of complaints reported at first contact with the mental health service.

Abstract:
AbstractThe global tourism industry has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic due to strict travel restrictions imposed by most countries. In order to achieve a swift post-pandemic recovery, it is important to understand what psychological obstacles people would face when making travel decisions. Building upon the dual-route theory of information processing, this study examined and compared how the perceived risk of COVID-19 would affect people’s travel intentions in the Japanese city of Sapporo and the Chinese city of Wuhan through two rounds of data collection. While both cities were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic at an early stage, the cumulative numbers of confirmed human cases and the levels of intervention adopted were largely different. Results from the present study showed that risk perception of COVID-19 had a negative effect on people’s travel intentions in Sapporo. However, no significant effect of COVID-19 perception could be observed in post-lockdown Wuhan. Meanwhile, although the dual-route structure of information processing was obtained in Sapporo and post-lockdown Wuhan, neither routes seemed to predict the perceived risk of COVID-19 in Wuhan when lockdown restrictions were still in place. Several theoretical and practical implications concerning the results are discussed in this study.

Abstract:
Combined heat and power (CHP) systems are widely used to prevent global warming and reduce energy costs. Both high efficiency of the elements and good coordination of the systems are considered as the points to solve. A microturbine CHP with a latent heat storage system was demonstrated at Sapporo City University. The heat exchanger of the CHP and an economizer were located in parallel downstream a bypass-dumper of the exhaust gas. The latent heat storage tank was located downstream the economizer. The bypass-dumper released exhaust gas when the boiler water in the heat exchanger exceeded 90°C. It is very important to use the heat supply of hot water as much as possible. At Sapporo City University, the winter term heat demand from 6pm to 7pm was somewhat smaller than that from 8am to 6pm. We tested a partial load from 6pm to 7pm to observe how it would respond to the heat demand. The heat supply from the microturbine CHP from 6pm to 7pm was shown to be controllable with heat storage. The heat supply from the microturbine CHP at the lowest power was larger than the heat demand so without the heat storage it was uncontrollable.
