Full textThis research appraises the efficiency level of three components of compensation on both motivation and job satisfaction. These three components, e. G. Salary, merit-pay incentives, and benefits, have been outlined after conducting three different studies (studies 1,2, and 3) among employees in both private and public sectors. Discrepancy theory for job satisfaction, and expectancy theory for motivation, provided the theoretical background of the research. Three different questionnaires were used: the compensation satisfaction questionnaire (csq), the work motivation & compensation questionnaire (wmc), as well as the Minnesota satisfaction questionnaire (msq). The first two questionnaires are original constructions. Causal analysis was conducted following structural equation modelling (lisrel VII), and using results obtained in studies 1 and 3 (n =579). Main results suggest that salary is positively associated to both motivation and satisfaction. On the contrary, merit-pay incentives are of no influence on motivation or satisfaction. Employee benefits have a positive influence on job satisfaction and a negative one on motivation. These latter results, however, owe their ambivalence to inconclusive statistical figures

Full textAs from the end of 1970's, China's small and medium entreprises (SMES) developed very quickly. China had 23 million SMES at the end of 2006. To maintain the sustainable development of the SME, the strategy must constantly be reinvented to continuously improve the company's management. An effective strategy must be implemented to improve the human resource management in order to improve job satisfaction. The analysis and the measurement of job satisfaction in China's SMES will be our topic of research. This topic will be studied in a zone z of high and new technology development in Beijing. This research will be done in two stages. The first will consist in the acquisition of data, the second will consist in the analysis of these data. In order to do this research, the unidimentional overall job satisfaction Y, the multidimentional overall job satisfaction A and MA will be different and by no means insignificant. We will need to adopt several approaches. Our research will establish that a model of multidimensional measurement is an important task in creating a research questionnaire. The process of construction of a model of multidimentional measurement is pratical and valid, with an approach in three stages. Some assumptions of research will be accepted and others rejected

Full textThis research proposes to study the dimensions that compose the wellbeing at work from the worker perspective. It aims also to propose a measure scale of wellbeing at work specific to the French context. For this purpose, an analysis of the literature related to the concepts of wellbeing in general and wellbeing at work specifically is carried out. It allowed to identify the variables considered by researchers as antecedents or consequences of wellbeing at work. Also, an analysis of the measures of wellbeing at work proposed by academics and professionals in HR consulting is realized. It put forwards two main established measure scales of wellbeing at work, those of Dagenais-Desmarais (2010) and Bietry & Creusier (2013). This theoretical work is followed by an empirical study that consisted in a qualitative and a quantitative researches. The qualitative study, which is part of an exploratory approach, consisted of 29 individual interviews and 5 focus groups conducted within the same service company. This study brings out the representations of well-being at work among employees that are summarized in six main dimensions : (1) the role clarity, (2) the working environment, (3) the working atmosphere, (4) the recognition at work, (5) the corporate benevolence and (6) the professional fulfilment. The validity of content of the resulting conceptualizations of wellbeing at work is tested using the method of card-sorting. This exploratory approach, which allowed to propose a conceptual model that highlights the six dimensions of BET presented above, is followed by a quantitative study. This study consisted in the proposal and the testing of a measure scale of wellbeing at work. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis of the structure of the measure scale is done. Their results confirm the reliability of the considered six-dimensions of wellbeing at work. Also, the analysis of the reliability and the different aspects of validity - convergent, discriminant and nomological - of the scale using the method of structural equations modeling asserts the satisfying psychometric properties of the proposed scale of wellbeing at work. The results of the test of the scale are then discussed in regard to the literature background related to the considered dimensions. Their managerial implications are also presented, their limits as well as the opportunities of improvement presented and discussed

Full textThis thesis focuses on job satisfaction processes and assessment. To date, imprecision persist in the job satisfaction assessment as well as in the understanding of the job satisfaction processes. Our aim is to analyse variations between assessment tools in order to question the validity of the job satisfaction models on which these tools are based. It follows a double issue. The first concerns the relation between global and facets satisfaction and the way in which facets satisfactions rise in a global attitude. We focused on composite scales (where the global level of satisfaction is inferred from the facets scores) putting into light their lack of validity. We tested two explanatory factors : the lack of facets exhaustiveness and weighting. These factors are not enough to explain the difficulty to predict global satisfaction from facets scores. Indeed, the complementary analyses we carried out highlight the existence of a moderator in the facets-global satisfaction relation. The second issue concerns the relation between satisfaction and person-job fit. We undertook to specify up to what point job satisfaction could be regarded as resulting from the fit between an individual and his environment. We showed thet the low empirical links observed in previous studies did not reflect really the satisfaction-fit relation but arise from operationalization choices, and highlighted that if indirect scales of fit did not make it possible to strongly predict job staisfaction it was possible when using a perceived fit scale on which individuals directly declare up to what point they consider their job as fulfilling their expectation

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to contribute to a better understanding of the diffusion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in firms and of its economic and social consequences. The first issue ot the thesis is to study strategic choices of firms concerning ICT adoption. To take advantage of ICT opportunities, firms can choose to implement an e-business strategy. Through a Website, the strategy can be directed towards either informing customers or selling online. Beyond the determinants highlighted in the literature, the originality of the first chapter lies in the introduction of factors hardly measurable such as reputation, competitive environment or mimetic behaviour. To deepen the analysis, the second chapter focuses on firms' motives for investing in a Website. Depending on the competitive pressure in the market structure, the firm may try to reach two objectives. The Website can be used either to enhance the competitive advantage on the market and/or to strategically eliminate rivals by creating artificial entry barriers. The second issue of the thesis is to analyse theimpact of firms' I CT choices on employees. The third chapter looks at the impact of ICT on the satisfaction and the stress of employees at work. We investigate whether ICT favour satisfaction by being associated with acknowledgement and enrichment, or conversely reinforce stress by increasing employers' pressure. The fourth chapter is devoted to the analysis of the impact of ICT use at work on the incentives and motivations a firm can use to get employees'optimal provision of effort

Full textDespite the growth of studies on the link between indoor work environment quality and employee productivity, the impacts of connectedness to nature within offices on employee well-being, satisfaction, and productivity remain less studied. The objective of the study is to conduct a scoping review of available research published between 2015 and 2020 on the impacts of biophilia and connectedness to nature on employee productivity and well-being as well as corporate strategies. The analysis of the studies shows that more and more companies are highlighting the integration of natural elements in the workspace as well as their benefits in terms of psychological connection and employee behaviors. In addition, there are differences in the spatial quality of the workspace, particularly between traditional green offices and coworking offices. This study highlights the need for companies to develop natural outdoor workspaces in addition to traditional green offices. This work also highlights the practical implications of the impacts of employee connection to nature for occupants, green office designers, and managers alike. The discussion also highlights the impact of the pandemic crisis on workspace design, ecology, and corporate budgets.

Full textIn this thesis, the various factors influencing life quality in the work place have been studied in three categories of civil servants from the Champagne-Ardenne Region (i.e. university, hospital and a series of agents in different territorial positions). Based on the DARES dimensions and on the study of social representations of wellbeing and unhappiness at work, a measuring tool was built. It allows a double interpretation, both in terms of situations and of emotions; it also allows understanding and measuring the degree of deterioration and/or of satisfaction at work. Different complementary methodological techniques were used. A specific wellbeing index was built. Overall, we offer a thorough tool for diagnosing the situation in terms of psychosocial risks for the studied civil servants

Full textWhile many companies monitor very closely the absence level of their employees, few of them are concerned about presenteeism. This behavior characterizes the situation of an employee who goes to work even though his health status would justify a sick leave. A still young literature, whose approaches of presenteeism are very heterogeneous, highlights some explanatory factors of this phenomenon as well as its negative implications on employees’ health and productivity. So far, the only way to collect data on presenteeism was to ask directly employees about their own behavior. The first purpose of our thesis is to introduce a new statistical instrument to measure quantitatively presenteeism. This can be done by applying a zero-inflated negative binomial model to individual sickness absence records, an easily available data in firms. Several behaviors are entangled in this variable, including presenteeism, which mainly manifests itself by an overrepresentation of nil values. The second goal of our thesis is to explain how an operational diagnosis can be performed, based on this tool. Two empirical applications, one in a hospital (4300 employees), the other in a regional bank (2700 employees), show the ability of the model to compute an individual presenteeism probability and to identify major presenteeism factors on a corporate scale. Among these factors, age, team responsibility or job insecurity are, for example, of particular importance

Full textThis thesis deals with unemployment policies and focuses on the mutual influence of management accountants and counselors in the French one stop shop for job seekers, “Pôle emploi”. Our work tests the hypothesis that administration reforms have changed the role of statistics and accounting in policies. Based on observation of the counselors’ work and on interviews with executives of Pôle Emploi, this work sheds light on the mechanisms through which the central State measures its results on the labor market. Counselors undergo two different pressures: one derived from performance targets set by the State and the other from the increasing number of job seekers. The thesis analyzes the Arts and crafts developed by counselors to solve these tensions. From this perspective, the counselors’ work looks like a categorization activity enabling them to sort the 5.5 million unemployed in accordance with three separate scales: the labor law, the labor market, and the institutional solutions to improve employability. Counselors then experience contradictions between individualized activation policies and the macro-economic nature of the current number of unemployed. Thus, our work dissects the gap between great politicians’ addresses and civil servants’ feeling of powerlessness

Full textWhen wondering about the relationship between employment contract and general law, autonomist claim is usually immediately brought up. Yet, the point is not to claim, but to define the propensity to autonomy of labor law in regard of general contract law, many times asked, and always renewed. Precisely, this measurement essay reveals deeply nuanced results. Thus autonomy could not be definitely accepted due to many manifestations of the subservience of employment contract to general law. However it cannot be totally contradicted because of the incontestable emancipation of the employment contract from the general law. To understand this apparent contradiction, the subject must be divided. The approach cannot be global and the study must deal with distinct subjects. The employment contract system is indeed oscillating between two poles: autonomy and dependence. Emancipation towards general law is almost complete when considering some questions. Concerning some other questions, subservience can only be noted. Moreover, the results of this research are leading to affirm that autonomy and dependence are not two distinct areas, separated by a hermetic border. Hence, dependence must be admitted when general law is preserved, though autonomy already appears when general law is appropriate. It is more intense when general law is distorted, and reaches its ultimate degree when general law is ousted. A kind of continuum is observed between these two poles – subservience and autonomy – on which questions about employment contract are organized. Consequently, when measuring the relationship between employment contract and general contract law, everything is a matter of degrees, proximity and distance correlative to these two extremities of the spectrum

Full textPersonal Development is largely called upon in the Management Sciences, naming the man-agement practices, coaching and corporate training. Even so, scholarly works aiming at defin-ing Personal Development in an explicit an integrated way remain scarce if any at all. This endeavor seeks to fill into that void by offering a qualitative conceptualization and a quantita-tive operationalization of Personal Development. An in-depth review of literature about the concepts indirectly associated to Personal Development allows us to suggest a conceptualiza-tion that accounts for three main perspectives on Personal Development: Psychological, Soci-ological and Philosophical. This result is largely confirmed by a qualitative study undertaken with a sample of about thirty organizational actors. This same study also offers us instructive insights about the use of Personal Development at work. The overall data collected until then paves the way for a specific quantitative study on the psychological operationalization of Personal Development. It means, conceptualizing Personal Development as a second order multidimensional construct. After selecting several scales measuring different concepts generally connected to Personal Development, we created a questionnaire under the assumption that it would measure Personal Development as a second order factor. The data collected from the survey confirms the existence of a second order fac-tor, with 4 dimensions and a dozen items, after scale discrimination. From that perspective, we can define the second order factor as Personal Development, the dimensions of which are professional flourishing, private flourishing, positive emotions and the mastery sub dimension of Flow. This integrated psychological conceptualization of Personal Development accounts altogether for the professional as well as the private, the hedonic as much as the eudaimonic, the active as well as the more passive side of Personal Development. All this research brings about a whole set of tools usable for a qualitative as much as for a quantitative assessment of Personal Development, in the service of the betterment of Man in the organization, be it in management, for 360 evaluations, career counseling, training, coaching, preventing psychoso-cial risks

In fact, the objective was to cope with the confusion, existing in the literature, between wage equity and pay satisfaction. The implementation of equivalence test provides support for the independence of both constructs. Then, we set up the research model. The second part presents the empirical study integrating construction, validation and confirmation of wage equity, pay satisfaction and job satisfaction measurement scales using SPSS and AMOS. Then, the data collection was made within executives from private and public organizations in France. .
Bennabi, Zouaoui Sid-Ahmed Amine. "Facteurs de contingence dans la mesure de satisfaction clients." Thesis, Paris 10, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013PA100098/document.
Full textEven if during the last twenty years the practice of barometric measurement of customer satisfaction has developed significantly among companies, the reliability of performance indicators derived from these measures has not necessarily been mastered. Satisfaction as a performance indicator is now accepted by managers however, its everyday use poses some issues, including those affecting the ability of barometric indicators to accurately assess performance. The theoretical question we address in this thesis is the study of the representation and the sensitivity of indicators of satisfaction which are affected by the existence of certain exogenous sources (demographic and geographic factors), which we refer to as contingency factors. Our research is based on the review of indicators of satisfaction when they are used as instruments for comparing shops: on a transverse view (comparison between management units) and another longitudinal view (changes in time indicators). Through three proposals, we have looked for a series of contingency factors on operating satisfaction indicators to know if the indicators fulfill their roles. To achieve the results, an explanatory theoretical framework for action of contingency factors and statistical analysis based on the methods of calculating fiducial-Bayesian importance were established. Data analyses are based on two satisfaction surveys: accumulations in terms of individuals interviewed in each barometer with 175 000 individuals in the first one and 40 000 individuals for each quarter (16 quarters are available) in the second one. The conclusion of our work shows the failure of the barometric satisfaction indicator to match the requirements of theperformance monitoring tools. The most important of these being the geographical contingency factors

Full textEnvironmental satisfaction is a key concept in environmental psychology. Surprisingly however, it has been little explored in the French-speaking organisational framework. Our research defines environmental satisfaction at work as an individual’s overall assessment of the workplace, regardless of the spatial scale (workstation, office, organization, neighbourhood). We have constructed a scale in order to better understand this concept and its links with concepts from both environmental psychology and occupational psychology. Our study has three objectives. The first is based on Churchill’s paradigm (1979) and involves the construction (study 1), and exploratory (study 2) and confirmatory (study 3) validation of the Environmental Satisfaction at Work Scale. Our second objective involves examining environmental satisfaction at work in relation to variables from environmental psychology (study 1) and occupational psychology (study 2). Finally, we examine the ESET from an intercultural perspective by comparing the environmental satisfaction of French and Italian office workers taking an emic (study 1) and an etic (study 2) approach. The ESET possesses satisfying psychometric characteristics that can be used both by researchers in social sciences and by human resource managers. This scale can help improve the quality of life in work environments

Full textThe thesis renews the attention paid to measurement, by considering that it goes there from the possibility even of approaching work like activity. Measurements of the actors make it possible to penetrate their investigations, their active explorations of the world, by re-registering the direction of work in the activity even. From an ethnographic investigation, inventory of a literature of engineers and archivistic sources, we study the engineers of telecommunications to the catches since the end of the 19th century with the measurement of the telephone, then the agents of supervision today charged to measure the telephone traffic. By doing this, we follow the genesis of an techno-economic abstraction: telephone traffic. The approach is at the same time diachronic - the invention of a measurement of the traffic by the engineers is that of a telephone management - and ethnographic : how the concept of traffic come does to the agents of supervision, called as from the years 1990 "to put itself at the traffic" ?

Nicolas, Caroline. "Suicide : santé mentale et environnement organisationnel : dans quelle mesure peut-on prévenir un suicide dans une organisation ?" Amiens, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014AMIE0014.
Full textSuicide is a multifactorial act, resulting from a number of risk factors over the life trajectory, within different domains of life and often have started during childhood. Representing 10500 deaths per year in France, and about 220 000 suicide attempts, suicide is a major public health problem (INSERM). Academic works in suicidology, report mental disorders as the most robust risk factor. Others are important risk factors, as personality traits and accumulation of difficulties in different life spheres. Several researchers have recently been interested in the link between suicide and work environment. Scientific literature is extensive concerning links between mental health and work, nevertheless rigorous researches on links between suicide and work environment are still needed, especially in France, where results from studies are sometimes incoherent with interpretations. The objective of the thesis is to explore differences observed between opinions and scientific conclusions in regards to the link between suicide and work environment. We formulated two research questions : can a negative work environment have a negative influence on mental health? Are work environment and/or work related-situations associated with a danger for mental health ? Three studies including two exploratory studies were conducted and based on semi-directive interviews. The first exploratory study consisted in an analysis of 23 salaries' discourses, from an industrial organization concerned by suicides and suicide attempts since 2010. The second exploratory study consisted in an analysis of 23 salaries' discourses, from a services organization, who were touched by two suicides in 2012. A third comparative study was conducted on the basis of semi-directive interviews, according to a psychological autopsy and life calendar methods. Semi-structured interview exploring love, family and professional spheres of life, past suicide attempts and mental health problems among 84 participants. A first group, 42 close relatives of people deceased by suicide, recounted the lives of the deceased person who was in employment at the time of death, was compared to a second group of 42 living participants, who also were in employment at the time of the study. Quantitatively (by ALCESTE) and qualitatively analyzed, data from both exploratory studies highlight common points shared by workers: a succession of reorganizations not well accepted, a high and growing workload, more and more urgencies interfering with daily- workload, the perceptions that the quality of their work is the best they could offer, the lack of autoncwiy, the lack of financial and symbolic gratitude, the perceptions of organisational injustice, a negative work climate (interpersonal conflicts, aggressions, threats, maybe moral harassment), the presence of work-family conflict, and the increase in psychological strain. Moreover, in the second study, physical or social isolations are described as associated with feelings of loneliness. Results of the comparative study, showed that significantly more mental health axis 1 disorders (especially mood and substances disorders) and an axis II disorder (especially Cluster C) are observed among participants deceased by suicide. As well, comorbidity and past suicide attempts are significantly more prevalent among participants deceased by suicide. No differences were observed between groups, concerning adversities in love relationships, family relations, social interactions and academic domain. However, living participants had significantly more adversities in professional domain over the life course and during the last five years. Conclusion According to our results, a work environment could have a negative impact on mental health. Some characteristics and work-related situations revealed in the two exploratory studies could be associated to a negative impact on mental health and psychological well-being. Nevertheless, concerning suicidal risk precisely, the comparative study shows that work adversities do not represent a robust or direct risk factor for suicide, but psychiatric disorders are. Furthermore, an analysis is proposed in conclusion to explore possible directions for a suicide prevention program in a work-related environment

Full textWe study in our dissertation the mediator effect of the well-being at work on the relationship between satisfaction at work and commitment. Because there no satisfying explanation on this link we used Saari and Judge (2004) et Riggio (2008) to introduce well-being at work in this relation. First, we made a review of literature about Satisfaction and commitment to show the lack about this relation and to highlight the concept of well-being. Then we have defined and delimit the concept of well-being at work. No scale was found in France, so we had to build one (EPBET: échelle positive du bien-être au travail) in the first time. To do it correctly, we used the Churchill paradigm and two sample n=313 and n=865 were collected. This scale was used in the second time test our principal hypothesis: the mediator effect of the well-being at work on the relation between satisfaction at work and commitment. We used Baron and Kenny test and Preacher and Hayes to show it. Then we change our analysis level with a person-centered approach whereas a variable-centered approach. We found five profiles of well-being using the factor mixture models and especially latent profiles analysis and factor mixture analyses. Those profiles are qualitatively and quantitatively distinct from each other. There is a profile of complete well-being, a profile of collective well-being, a profile of non-time well-being, a profile of relational well-being and a profile of low well-being. All this results are discussed in the last part of our dissertation. We also describe our principal findings in this final part

To examine the independent and combined effect of DC and ERI on ABP 3. To examine the mediating effect of body mass index (BMI) in the association between ERI and ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) over 5 years. 4. To examine the association between psychosocial work factors from the DC model and masked hypertension prevalence. Methods: The study population was composed of 2,300 white-collar workers. They were assessed three times during a 5-year period (Year 1, 3 and 5). At each time, psychosocial work factors were measured using validated scales. ABP was measured every 15 minutes during a working day. Results: Men who were always exposed to an active job had higher systolic and diastolic ABP increases (+2.7/+2.5 mmHg) and a higher cumulative incidence of hypertension (RR = 2.20, 95% C.I. 1.50–3.23), compared to never exposed men. In women, ERI exposure onset was associated with higher increases in systolic (+2.8 mmHg) and diastolic (+1.6 mmHg) ABP, compared to never exposed women. Men exposed to psychosocial work factors from the DC model had higher ABP compared to unexposed men, using contemporaneous exposure. However, the high strain/ABP association was not significant after adjustment for ERI. Men (+1.4/+1.4 mmHg) and women (+1.6/+1.3 mmHg) exposed to ERI had higher ABP, after adjustment for DC exposure. In the prospective analyses using ERI exposure over 3 years, BMI mediated the effect of ERI exposure onset, ERI chronic exposure and ABP, in women with baseline BMI ≥25 kg/m2. For men, being active exposure was associated with masked hypertension (Adjusted OR: 2.07, 95% CI 1.30-3.31). Conclusion: In the present study, repeated exposure to psychosocial work factors from the DC and ERI models was associated with significant increases in ABP and hypertension. DC and ERI models had independent effect on ABP. In women, repeated exposure to psychosocial work factors from the ERI model was indirectly associated with BP increases, via BMI increases while exposure to psychosocial work factors from the DC model was associated with masked hypertension, in men.

Full textWe study in this thesis the subjective formation of job satisfaction and the impact of organization on employees satisfaction. First, we work on the modeling of psychological process of job satisfaction, defined as an attitude at work. Then, we propose a model to study the impact of work organization on work activity. Our research aims to study job satisfaction using an innovative methodological and theoretical approach in the domain of social simulation: based on major theories in the fields of organizational psychology and economy of well-being, our goal is to produce an agent-based model of the cognitive aspects of job satisfaction. Our purpose is to provide a theoretically as well as empirically grounded model of job satisfaction that fosters the understanding of organizational impact on employees' satisfaction. To do so, we tested our model on an ideal scenario of work conditions improvement policy. The results revealed that this policy do not systematically causes a global improvement on job satisfaction: agent's cognitive profil, that is a typical way to evaluate job satisfaction, have a great impact on policy outcomes. Next, we tested our model using a scenario based on a panel survey of work conditions conducted in a big french organization during 2013/14. We were able to reproduce declared individual levels of job satisfaction. Furthemore, in order to provide a more realistic representation of work improvement policy, we have also developed a work activity model. Firstly, we analyzed the impact of various work organizations on organizational performance, then we conducted an analysis of the impact of work activity on the formation of burnout episodes. This last study helped us to bring up the importance of work activity and organization on employees' well-being; the aim being eventually to propose a coupled model of work activity and job satisfaction

Full textThe issue of mental suffering is ubiquitous at work as evidenced by the recent controversies related to suicides int the workplace. Physical suffering is moving towards a psychological suffering. In this thesis we ask the question: how is mental suffering, and how does it appear ? Our hypothesis is: Organizational changes generate mental suffering manifested by particular reactions in Morocco and France. There are many difference in how to experiment that, according to the personality and its impact on the self-image. Our research focuses on the administrative staff of two universities in France and Morroco. Analysis of the data to a questionnaire, interviews and NEO PI-R shows that suffering is little expressed at work in Morocco, also there is individual and personal problems related to intimate situation of each one next to the dissatisfaction, whereas mental suffering is manifested by the devaluation of the self-image in France

Full textThe balance between personal and professional life is a recurring theme in our societies as well as the spillover phenomena, as well work on the personal life and the personal life on work, were seized by HR managers. As such, operational solutions have been proposed through, the researchers admit that family-friendly practices auch as flexible hours, childcare services on site, company conciergeries etc. However, these practices being relatively undeveloped in France so we can ask on which basis can they be implemented, and especially what their real role on employees’ work-life balance? This question requires an examination of perceptions of work-life balance and its possible effects on job satisfaction. A research model integrating perceptions of work-life balance, intentions to use harmonization practices, and job satisfaction, we. proposed. ln support of an empirical study on two samples of 210 and 224 French employees in the private sector, we have shown that these practices are considered as a real measure supporting work-life balance, and may be, in this sense, a lever for job satisfaction. It also appears that these practices and balance itself are subject to different assessments according to employees' profiles, and finally, while the these practices are in favor of work-life balance, the work-life balance may be a determinant of job satisfaction

Full textOur main preoccupations were to study the relationship between work and live satisfaction from the intercultural point of view and determine work values maintained in France and Zaïre. First, work values seem to be affected by culture as well as intra-cultural and inter-cultural variations of live satisfaction. However, these two effects are not systematic. Rather, they occur according to the method used and or socio-professional category. As for the relationship between work and outside work satisfaction, the operationalization of Iris and Barrett of the spillover appeared to be more general than that of the compensation. However, that verification depends on the socio-professional category, uni-dimensional criteria (consideration of the median of distribution of raw scores) and or multi-dimensional criteria (the utilization of scores for the first and second factors) for the identification of workers who are satisfied or dissatisfied at work, also our psychological explanation of spillover and compensation reveals itself as cultural. In other words, whatever the socio-professional category, the spillover and the compensation are explained either by passivity in France or by activity in Zaire. Finally, methodological implications are discussed

Full textThe aim of this research is focused on describing the construction of a collective awareness environment within virtual teams. We have sought to measure the intensity of collective awareness over time, as well as to determine the set of factors that encourage its emergence. More precisely, our guiding line of inquiry can be stated as follows : in virtual teams, how is collective awareness crated, and how does it evolve over time ? In order to test our theoretical construct, we have adhered to a methodology combining semi-experimental quantitative studies with two qualitative case studies. The quantitative section enabled the quantification of collective awareness levels within virtual teams via the elaboration of a measurement scale. This part equally allowed for testing the dynamic nature of collective awareness levels, as well as the mechanisms leading to its emergence. The qualitative portion seeks to expand our understanding of collective awareness and to deepen the interpretation of the quantitative study’s results. Through these two approaches, we hope to contribute to a better understanding of collective awareness building and dynamics within virtual teams. Collective awareness is a bidimensional construct based on two dual, dynamic processes –activity awareness vs. Social awareness. Finally, our results emphasize the joint effects of trust (cognitive vs. Affective) and group cohesiveness (tasks vs. Social) on collective awareness building

Full textThe present research is aimed at studying different dimensions of job satisfaction in Brazilien and French workers. In each country, subjects were randomly sampled out from similar domains of activity. In addition, the percepion that foremen have about the worker's satisfaction was explored. The job descriptive index, designed by Smith, Kendall and Hulin (French adaptation by J. -L. Mogenet, university Paris X) was used in the study. The foremen received a modified version of the questionnaire. When interpreting the results, the respective socio-economical situation in each country was taken into account, in order to control for actual conditions of living of the workers. The general hypotheses bear on the comparison of the different satisfaction dimensions in each sub-sample. They were tested at a descriptive and correlational level. A principal components factor analysis permitted to elicit the structure of the relationships between dimensions of satisfaction. A structural variance-covariance model (Lisrel) was applied to test for causal relationships between latent variables extracted from the factor analysis

Full textThe moderating role of career stages has never ceased to attract the attention of researchers in this time when a career concept is the subject of much debate in the middle of scientists. Our goal in this study is to investigate the moderating role of career stages in relationships of a group of variables, with a view to clarifying these relationships and to identify variables that may contribute to the improvement of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. To achieve our goal, we developed a research model with four variables levels. The first is related to stress factors at work, the second is job satisfaction, the third deals with the organizational commitment and the last level deals with the stages of career. This model is tested on a sample of 242 university teachers in Angola. After various analyzes (Multi-Group Analysis, and others), our results indicate that career stages play a moderating role in the overall relations between our variables. This moderation is manifested specifically in direct and indirect relationships of our variables in career steps included in our study. These results have allowed us to present the contributions and recommendations of managerial types in line to help professionals and institutional managers to improve their policies on the well-being of employees

Full textThis thesis is devoted to analyse and to explain the effects that can have, on one hand, organizational justice, recognition and trust in the work on the relationship between discriminatory perceptions and work stress. On the other hand, the effects that organisational valuation can have on the same relationship. These effects were analysed using a sample of 208 respondents Tunisians and French. This research highlighted a set of results at the same time on theoretical, methodological and managerial points of view. These results allowed to verify that there is a triple interactive effect between organisational justice, recognition and trust in the work, which constitute the organizational valuation. The latter plays an essential mediating role in the relationship between discriminatory perceptions and work stress.Key words : organizational justice, discriminatory perceptions, recognition, trust in the work, organizational valuation, work stress

Full textIn june 1992, at Rio de Janerio in Bresil, should take place the united nations world conference on environment and development. It was devoted on the urgency of the planet awareness on environmental problems. But beyond this struggle of protecting the planet is a big political, diplomatic, economic and social games at stakes. The francophones countries having been aware of this new games at stakes, took advantage of the world mobilisation to formulate a principle of cooperation in the domain of environment. This should have double objectives. For them it is a question of taking an active part in the international community leadership role in favour of environment all in assuring their political, economical and cultural interests. It is also a question of defining a common strategy to fight against environmental problems that are daily confronted with by francophone countries, the most urgent of which are deforestation, water, pollution, desertification and industrial pollution. In the last analysis, it is a question of offering a frame of life environmentally healthy for their population that are more and more becoming numerous, in creating the term of a durable development linking the objectives of ecological economics in francophone states
Parent, Mark, and Mark Parent.
Mental workload stands out as a key concept as soon as human work and human performance is discussed. Mental workload is often measured using subjective questionnaires or behavioral cues. Peripheral physiological measures (e.g. heart rate) can also be used to measure workload. However, it is particularly difficult to determine the source of workload using peripheral physiological measures. Sub-divisions of mental workload, such as task load, mental effort, stress and fatigue, often trigger similar physiological reactions, blurring the diagnostic potential of physiological measures. Furthermore, physiological measures are too often investigated in laboratory settings, making it hazardous to determine their performance in real world settings. This thesis aims at investigating the diagnostic potential of peripheral physiological measures. A mixed methodology, combining traditional cognitive approach as well as machine learning techniques, is used. This thesis presents results of both a laboratory setting experimental as well as an ecological command and control simulation. Results show that peripheral measures can be used to predict, with high accuracy, the source of workload in laboratory settings. While not as accurate, results also show that it is possible to perform a diagnostic measure of workload in an ecological work simulation. This thesis contribute to improve the potential of peripheral physiological measures in real work settings.
