Abstract:
This thesis presents Web Utility Kit (WUT): a platform that helps to simplify the process of creating modern web applications. It addresses the need to simplify the web development process through the creation of a hosted service that provides access to a unified set of resources. The resources are made available through a variety of protocols and formats to help simplify their consumption. It also provides a uniform model across all of its resources making multi-resource development an easier and more familiar task. WUT saves the time and cost associated with deployment, maintenance, and host

Abstract:
The evolution of the web has outpaced itself: The growing wealth of informa- tion and the increasing sophistication of interfaces necessitate automated pro- cessing. Web automation and extraction technologies have been overwhelmed by this very growth. To a'ddress this trend, we identify four key requirements of web extraction: (1) Interact with sophisticated web application interfaces, (2) Precisely capture the relevant data for most web extraction tasks, (3) Scale with the number of visited pages, and (4) Readily embed into existing web technologies. Abstract:
The usage of cloud computing in order to move away from local servers and infrastructure have grown enormously the last decade. The ability to quickly scale capacity of servers and their resources at once when needed is something that can both be a price saver for companies and help them deliver high end products that will function correctly at all times even under heavy load to their customers. To meet todays challenges, one of the strategic directions of Attentec, a software company located in Linköping, is to examine the world of cloud computing in order to deliver robust and scalable appli

Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) have been widely used in the web over the last decade as they were found to be responsive and user-friendly compared to traditional web applications. RIAs use client-side scripting such as JavaScript which allows for asynchronous updates on the server-side using AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML). Due to the large size of RIAs and therefore the long time required for crawling, distributed RIA crawling has been introduced with the aim to decrease the crawling time. However, the current RIA crawling systems are not scalable, i.e. they are limited to a rel

Abstract:
This report presents design and implementation of a protoype application using server side javascript programming language, node.JS and couchDB as backend database. It scales and evaluates the developed prototype application and the couchDB for their scalability and performance. The report concludes that node.JS is a suitable framework for development of scalable web servers and couchDB as a backend database, though natively not distributed and scalable, can be scaled and distributed across multiple nodes using clustering and replication mechanism.

Abstract:
This diploma thesis focuses on graph database data visualization, where data is stored in RDF format. Standard visualisation of RDF data in tables does not offer sufficiently usable user view. One of the goals of this work is to show RDF data in interactive graph, which is ideal form of viewing data considering lucidity and information value. The graph gives good view of not only the data itself but also relationships between the data. Another goal is to test ability of browsers to visualize large amounts of data.

Abstract:
In recent years, the scalability of web applications has become crit- ical. Web sites get more dynamic and customized. This increases servers' workload. Furthermore, the future increase of load is dif- cult to predict. Thus, the industry seeks for solutions that scale well. With current technology, almost all items of system architec- tures can be multiplied when necessary. There are, however, prob- lems with databases in this respect. The traditional approach with a single relational database has become insu cient. In order to achieve scalability, architects add a number of di erent kinds of

Universities want to go where the learners are to share their rich scientific and intellectual knowledge beyond the walls of the academy and to expand the boundaries of the classroom. This desire has become a critical need, as the worldwide economy adjusts to globalization and the need for advanced education and training becomes ever more critical. Unfortunately, the work of creating, processing, distributing and using quality multimedia learning content is expensive and technically challenging.
