A new series of Mn (II), Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II), and Zn (II) complexes of the Schiff base ligand, 4-chloro-2-{(E)-[(4-fluorophenyl)imino]methyl}phenol (C13H9ClFNO), was synthesized in a methanolic medium. The Schiff base was derived from the condensation reaction of 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde and 4-fluoroaniline at room temperature. Elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-Vis, and NMR spectral data, molar conductance measurements, and melting points were used to characterize the Schiff base and the metal complexes. A mono-ligand neutral Mg (II) complex of a Schiff base ligand derived from 1-acetyl-2-naphthol and 4, 4’-diaminodiphenylmethane was prepared and characterized. The Schiff base acts as a double, negatively charged quadridentate ligand forming stable neutral Mg (II) complex. The luminescent characterizations of the Mg (II) complex material in solid and in organic solvents show that the Mg (II) complex has strong luminescent emission at ca. 452 nm when excited at 323 nm. The Mg (II) complex synthesized may be an excellent luminescent material.

Primary benzyl amines are highly important building blocks in the pharmaceutical and polymer industry. A new Schiff base ligand named (4-Methyl benzyl 2-Hydroxy 5-NitroAceto) imine was prepared through condensation reaction of 4-Methyl Benzyl amine and 2-hydroxy 5-Nitro Acetophenone in 1:2 molar ratios. The new ligand was characterized by spectral techniques. The coordination behaviour of a series of transition metal ions named Mn(II), Co(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) with the newly prepared Schiff base ligand is reported. From IR spectra, it was observed that the ligand is a neutral bidentate ligand

Abstract:
The process of deprotonation-protonation of the Schiff base 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(isonicotinoylhydrazone) in the coordination compounds of Co(II) was studied, as a method for the synthesis of new complexes. Five new coordination compounds were obtained, of which in three complexes the Schiff base coordinates in neutral form (H2L) - [Co(H2L)(H2O)2]X2 (X = ClO4- , Cl- , Br- ), and in two complexes the ligand is bis-protonated (H4L2+) - [Co(H4L)(H2O)2](HSO4)4 and [Co(H4L)(SO4)(H2O)]SO4·2,5H2O. The chemical and structural composition were determined by the methods of elemental analysis, IR spec
