Abstract:
Traffic accidents are a health problem in both developed and developing countries including Indonesia. Number of traffic accidents each year has increased and traffic accidents in Indonesia is considered by WHO as the third biggest killer after coronary heart disease and tuberculosis. Most traffic accidents involving motorcyclists and the current junior high school students are also involved as a perpetrator of the accident. This study was conducted to determine the relationship of knowledge, the use of traffic lane and the driving speed with the incidence of traffic accidents in junior high school students motorcyclists. Type of research is analytic observational cross-sectional study design. The study population was all junior high school students in Wonokromo Surabaya in 2015. The number of respondents in this study of 100 respondents drawn from the population by using two stage cluster random sampling. The variables studied were knowledge, the use of traffic lane and the driving speed. Results of analysis using chi square test (α = 5%) indicate that knowledge (p = 0,027; RR = 1,966), the use of traffic lane (p = 0,005; RR = 1,894) and the driving speed (p = 0,017; RR = 1,941) has a significantly relationship to the incidence of traffic accidents to junior high school students motorcyclists in Wonokromo sub-district Surabaya 2015. Especially under age children of junior high school student are encouraged to not ride a motorcycle before age sufficient and have a driver’s licence. Beside that, the role of parents to prevent underage motorcyclists is needed to support the efforts of the police and schools in minimizing the number of accident to reduce the number of junir high school student involved in a motorcycle accident. Keywords: traffic accident, risk factors, knowledge, traffic lane, speed

Abstract:
In recent years, the outbreak of many school sports injury accidents aroused widespread public concern about liability determination of accident. Previous studies have examined the legal application of the liability principles from a law perspective, but few kinds of research attempted to analyze the progress of liability determination from the perspective of “law economics”. To fill this research gap, we introduce the evolutionary game model, as an important theoretical tool of “law economics”, to investigate how various factors influence the strategy selection of the parties, as well as examine what liability principle can effectively treat school sports injury accidents. The results indicate that the strategic selection of the subject of liability is significantly related to the accident compensation cost and the prevention cost of both parties. Moreover, we also find that both strict and proportional liability rules can play key roles in dealing with the issue of liability determination of school sports injury accidents, but the two liability rules have different effects on the strategic selection of parties. More specifically, compared to the strict liability principle, the proportional liability principle can motivate both the school and the students to adopt the active strategy of “appropriate caution” to prevent occurring sports injury accidents in schools.

Abstract:
Road safety has become a major concern to both developed and developing countries due to its negative economic impacts. Although, numerous approaches of accident analysis have been conducted, there seem to be an increase in road crashes every year. The main aim of this study is to analyse a driving school accident using a system-based accident analysis approach. The data for the study was collected using an interview. A Swiss Cheese Accident Causation Model was used to identify the factors that contributed to the accident. The study identified four weaknesses in the system defences of the driving school that created a possible accident trajectory. It is concluded that adopting system-based accident analysis approach in analysing road transport accidents, could lead to a greater understanding of latent conditions and road user error, which in turn could inform the development of intervention strategies within a road transport domain as suggested by other studies. Finally, the short falls of using only person approach of accident analysis in road transport domain are also highlighted.

Abstract:
Many schools refer children who have sustained an injury, directly to the local Accident & Emergency (A&E) department. This prospective study monitored these referrals for one school term (08.01.96 – 31.03.96). During this time 200 children under the age of14 years presented from school to the A&E department of the Royal Aberdeen Childrens Hospital (RACH). The majority presented with trivial or mild injuries and 45% of parents felt that attending A&E was inappropriate. Half the accidents happened to unsupervised children. Rural children and children of working parents were less likely to attend A&E. In Grampian Region school referrals to A&E generate a significant workload for the A&E department with resultant cost implications. It would appear that a large number of these attendances are medically unnecessary and result from a desire by the school to avoid any complaint or litigation.

Abstract:
It is reasonable that the traffic accident increased because of the massive motor vehicle accident. WHO recorded that the traffic accident was the third most enormous killer after tuberculosis and coronary heart disease. The majority of motorcyclist is teenager that causes the increase of traffic accident. This research was conducted to acknowledge the relation between the type of personality and the violation of motorcyclist toward the traffic accident occurred to senior high school student. This research was analytical observation using two stage random sampling method. The population of the research was all student in Sampang regency in 2017. It was involving 127 respondents. The variables applied were the type of personality and the violation of motorcyclist (including traffic sign and road markings). The data was analysed by Chi Square and suggested that (α = 0.05) the type of personality (p = 0.537; RR 1.457), and the violation of the motorcyclist (p = 1; RR 0.930) have no significant relation to the traffic accident among senior high school student. The conclusion of this research is there is no relationship between p ersonality type, violation by motorcycle with the incident of traffic accident. It is suggested to high school students not to drive a motor vehicle if they do not have a driver’s license, in order to minimize the occurrence of traffic accidents.

Abstract:
Every year we lose many young road users in road traffic accidents. Based on traffic accident data issued by the Indonesian National Police in 2017, the number of casualties was highest in the age group 15-19, with 3,496 minor injuries, 400 seriously injured and 535 deaths. This condition is very alarming considering that student as the nation's next generation lose their future due to the accidents. This figure does not include other traffic violations, not having a driver license, not wearing a helmet, driving opposite the direction, those given ticket and verbal reprimand. To reduce traffic accident for young road user, road safety campaigns were organized in many schools in Jakarta. This activity aims to socialize the road safety program to increase road safety awareness among young road users/students including the dissemination of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. Another purpose of this program is to accompany school administrators to set up a School Safe Zone (ZoSS), a location on particular roads in the school environment that are time-based speed zone to set the speed of the vehicle. The purpose of this paper is to promote the road safety campaigns strategies by considering various campaign tools.

Abstract:
Previous studies based on a variety of behaviour, temperament, and personality measures identified a pattern of over‐activity, impulsiveness, emotional instability, and aggressiveness in children who are prone to accidents. The present study is the first to study accident‐prone children by means of a comprehensive test for the assessment of the Five Factor model (Hierarchical Personality Inventory for Children (HiPIC) (Mervielde & De Fruyt, 1999). 118 children, aged 6–15 years, who were hospitalized due to an accident‐related injury, were contrasted with 184 school‐children of the same age. Lower socio‐economic status was under‐represented in both groups. Children who were exposed to accidents had higher scores on the facets of energy, optimism, and non‐shyness (Extraversion domain), and lower scores on the facets of concentration and achievement striving (Conscientiousness domain). There was no indication of higher aggressiveness, impulsiveness, or emotional instability in the group exposed to accidents, and there were no gender‐by‐accident interactions. Results suggest that there is a relatively benign pattern of personality traits that is related to greater accident hazard in children. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:
A study based on the Danish Road Directorates accident statistics shows that there are different gender patterns in how we behave in traffic and our involvement in traffic accidents. Overall men drive more by car and take longer trips. Women take more trips, but they are shorter, and travel more by bicycle or walking. Although men and women spend the same amount of time in traffic, twice as many men as women are involved in traffic accidents. Men constitute 62% of all persons killed and injured in road accidents, and are involved in 66% of the accidents. Not only gender, but education, income and age are also important factors in the accident patterns of men and women in Denmark. People with primary/lower secondary school as the highest education level are over represented in accident statistics in proportion to other educational groups. Young people aged 18–24 constitute about 20% (the largest group) of persons killed and injured in traffic accidents, although they only constitute approximately 8% of the population. In this group, there are about twice as many men killed or injured as women. The overall pattern is that, the older you become, the higher educated you are and the higher income you have—the smaller is your risk of involvement in accidents in Denmark. This knowledge is of importance when planning communication strategies with different segments of the population and when reaching out to young people in schools, who are at the highest risk of getting killed or injured in accidents.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze occupational accidents with exposure of nursing technicians to biological material in a school hospital. Method: nursing technicians were invited to answer a questionnaire related to occupational accidents with biological material. Results: 275 professionals from 9 hospital units participated. 76% reported having suffered an accident and the variables “age group” and “employment regime” showed a significant association for accidents (p<0.05). Those hired by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT - Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho) employment regime were 3.5 times more likely to suffer accidents (p=0.04) and institutional capacity building did not show statistical significance (p>0.05). Conclusion: the increase in the number of training did not ensure the reduction of occupational accidents with biological material; and nursing technicians under the age of 30 were more vulnerable. Professionals with a CLT labor contract were more affected than the statutory employees.

Abstract:
Traffic accidents among students are one of the problems experienced in the Greater Jakarta area. World Health Organization (WHO) stated that younger drivers are the most vulnerable group to experiencing traffic accidents, including the students. According to Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), it was estimated that as many as 301,120 Jabodetabek commuters had experienced a traffic accident in 2019. Moreover, 13 to 14 out of the 100 commuters who had experienced traffic accidents are student commuters or commuters with the main activities going to school. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the factors that affect the accident status of Jabodetabek student commuters in 2019 and their odds ratios by using the 2019 Jabodetabek Commuter Survey data. The analytical method used is a binary logistic regression with the parameter estimation method using penalized maximum likelihood estimation (PMLE). And the results showed that the variables of age, gender, last education, mode of transportation, classification of the area of residence, distance traveled, and the area of the activity had a significant influence on the accident status of Jabodetabek student commuters. Furthermore, student commuters who live in rural areas have the highest tendency to experience a traffic accident.

Abstract:
Traffic accidents are still a global problem today. Traffic accidents are the main cause of death for all age groups dominated by adolescents. The number of traffic accident cases in Indonesia reached 108,871 incidents with details of which 25,511 people died. Accident data in Central Sulawesi during 2016 reached 1,889 incidents, with 420 dead, 1,076 serious injuries and 2,042 minor injuries. The city of Palu is in order no. 1 with traffic accidents 308 cases with losses of up to 616 million rupiah. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with safety riding behavior. This type of research is quantitative with a Cross Sectional Study approach, sampling using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling method. The number of samples in this study were 84 respondents. The data were collected using a questionnaire with a Guttman scale. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was no relationship between knowledge (p = 0.95), while there was a relationship between attitude (p = 0.008), SIM ownership (p = 0.003), and safety riding behavior. To prevent traffic accidents, it is necessary to provide an understanding of Safety Riding, guide traffic discipline, invite them to complete driving licenses, familiarize children with using PPE, and provide motivation to always prioritize safety in driving.

Abstract:
Learning outcomes This paper aims to sensitize learners to some of the ethical and public relation issues involved in decision-making with specific reference to the educational field. Case overview/synopsis This case brings out a dilemma faced by the school management of Vidyalaya School, Karnataka, India in responding to a notice issued by the State Government to pay a huge compensation and to re-absorb a teacher who was rendered physically challenged owing to an accident within the school premises. The case is set in the milieu of a self-financed, private education industry during the period 2013-2018. This is a case in “Strategy formulation” and “Ethical dilemma” involved in the field of education in India. A teacher was permanently injured and confined to a wheelchair in an attempt to rescue a child attempting to jump off the school building and end her life for having obtained low marks in a test paper. While the school management was initially sympathetic and paid her medical bills and full salary purely on humanitarian grounds, they discontinued this support-line after about two years. The teacher filed a complaint with the Disability Commission, a grievance redressal body of the Government of Karnataka, India. She demanded re-absorption into the job, payment of salary arrears and reimbursement of all the subsequent medical bills incurred abroad totaling Rs 15.5 million, which is unaffordable for a school of that size. The management is faced with a situation where they cannot accept such a huge financial liability as well as accept a wheelchair-bound teacher who would not be able to discharge her duties. The school was briefed by legal experts that there exists no law that specifies either compensation or re-absorption into the job in a situation like this. At the same time, to fight the case purely on legal grounds and deny her a decent livelihood would impact the image of the school as being inhuman to a lady who had actually tried to help the school in the name of humanity. The management is caught in a dilemma on the course of action they must take – to fight the case legally or to accept the demand on humanitarian grounds. Abstract:
The accident rate in Indonesia tends to be quite high when compared to other countries in Asean. Traffic accidents are one of the causes of death in the world (8th rank), and the main cause of death of young people aged 15 to 29 years. Accidents can be prevented by various technical countermeasures, this needs to be done so that unnecessary accident costs can be reduced. Against this background, it is necessary to conduct socialization early on about good and correct traffic procedures especially for young children at the elementary school level, so it is expected that our children already have the provision of information and techniques about traffic in our country.

Abstract:
Traffic accidents are one of the biggest causes of death in the world. WHO states that 90% of deaths that caused by traffic accident in the world occur in low and middle income countries. Indonesia is ranked first with the highest percentage of deaths that caused by traffic accident in Asia. Most t raffic accidents involve motorcyclist with an average age of 15–29 years old. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between ownership of driving license and participation in driving license tests with driving k nowledge and t raffic accidents in h igh school students of Xi grade in Kabupaten Sidoarjo in 2017. This research was an observational analytic with cross sectional study design. The population of this study was all senior h igh school students of XI grade in Kabupaten Sidoarjo in 2017. The number of respondents was 204 students that drawn from the population by using two stage cluster random sampling method. Results of analysis using chi square and fisher’s exact test (α = 5%) indicate that the ownership of driving license (p = 0.259; RR 1.533) and participation in driving license test (p = 1.00; RR 0.586) did not have correlation with t raffic accidents in h igh school students of XI grade in Kabupaten Sidoarjo in 2017 and the ownership of driving license (p = 1.00; RR 1.008) and participation in driving license test (p = 1,00; RR 0.983) did not have correlation too with driving k nowledge in h igh school students of XI grades in Kabupaten Sidoarjo in 2017.

Abstract:
AbstrakThe jurisdiction of Polrestabes Surabaya was ranked in the top 3 contributors to the number of traffic accidents of 39 Polres in the East Java Regional Police in 2017. KB Khadijah Kindergarten is in the middle of Surabaya and an area with heavy traffic, so there is a high risk of traffic accidents, but the school has never received material and information about first aid in an accident so that if there is an accident the teacher and staf are not ready and unable to provide help properly. The purpose of this community service is to provide knowledge and abilities to teachers, staff, and parents to be able to do first aid in an accident. The method used in this empowerment is lectures and demonstrations about first aid in accidents which include Basic Life Support (BLS), splinting & Bandaging, and ambulation/transportation and also using leaflet media. As many as 47 people consisting of teachers, staf and parents participated in this activity and also carried out an evaluation of knowledge and self efficacythrough pre-test and post-test. The results achieved through this activity is that there is an increase in knowledge and self-efficacy in conducting first aid in an accident. This is because the lecture, simulation, and also leaflet methods can provide a technically clear description so that participants know and can practice relief assistance in accidents. Subsequent community service activities are expected to achieve wider goals and diverse communities.

Abstract:
Despite growing media and public interest in recent years in the issue of fatal work accidents in the construction industry, there in fact has been an upswing in the number of fatalities. The construction industry is a dangerous industry for workers, and about half of the fatal work accidents in Israel take place there. This study was designed to examine how the law enforcement system handles cases of fatal work accidents, where most of the workers are foreign workers. The article examines whether there is a difference in the criminal procedures between work accidents and road accidents, which are not identified with a particular demographic sector. The study findings showed that there is a significant link between the type of fatal accident and the identity of the victim, and the decisions made during the criminal proceedings for a fatal work accident as compared to a fatal road accident. The findings partially correspond with the assumptions of the Marxist structural school of victimology, which sees a relationship between the victim's social status and the way the criminal justice system handles the case. Although based on a relatively small sample, these findings indicate that there is a need to substantially strengthen and regulate the investigative and criminal aspects of the treatment of fatal work accidents in the construction industry.

Abstract:
First Aid is a temporary relief and care effort against accident victims before getting more complete help from doctors or paramedics. This means that the help is not a perfect treatment or treatment, but only a temporary relief by the FIRST AID officer (medical officer or lay person) who first sees the victim. First Aid Purpose: 1 Prevent death, 2. Prevent more severe disability 3. Prevent infections, 4. Reduce pain and fear Correct FIRST AID action will reduce defects or suffering and even save the victim from death, but if FIRST AID action is done bad it can worsen due to accident and even kill the victim. In everyday life there is often an accident that befell someone or a group of people. Accidents can happen anywhere, at home, road, workplace or anywhere else. To anticipate the problem then the government launched the school health effort movement (UKS) which there is health education, health services and a healthy school environment. The purpose of this dedication is to train the students to be the first helpers to be able to perform first aid measures if necessary.

Abstract:
Indonesia on the fifth ranks in the world considering of accident number, after China, India, Afghanistan, and Nigeria, where East Java is the province that has the highest accident in Indonesia. The city of Surabaya as the Capital of East Java Province automatically became the centre of government activities, giving rise to transportation activities that indirectly had an impact on accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research to obtain the accident rate and the location of black site in the city of Surabaya. In addition, considering that productive age including junior high school (SMP) is the highest contributor on the accidents, the level of understanding of junior high school students on traffic regulations needs to be analysed. From the data obtained at IRSMS, it can be seen that five roads in Surabaya were the highest contributors to accidents in Surabaya, namely Mastrip, Diponegoro, A. Yani, Kenjeran, and Ir. Soekarno, where the five roads are inter-city connecting roads that blend with the road in the city. In addition, from the interview data, there was a relationship between awareness of traffic behaviour and willingness to protect themselves.

Abstract:
Road traffic accidents are increasing in alarming ways. During adolescence period driving for curiosity, careless driving, and peer pressure are most common resulting high road traffic accidents. The main objective of the study was to explore the knowledge and practice of road safety rules and regulations. A descriptive cross sectional study design was used to conduct the study. Non-probability quota sampling technique was used to select 240 respondents from 800 students of class 11 and 12 from Pokhara Secondary School. Self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the information from respondents. The obtained data was entered on SPSS 16 version program and analyzed and interpreted by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that more than half (59.2%) of the respondents had moderately adequate knowledge. Nearly three-forth (70.4%) of the respondents had average practice as a pedestrian and 75.7 percent of the respondents as a driver had average practice. Only 7.5 percent of the respondents were exposed to road traffic accident and high speed was the main cause of accident. More than three quarter (75.7%) had always driven vehicles without license. There was significant association (p=0.034) between the faculty of respondents (science and management) and level of knowledge of respondents on road safety rules and regulations. The study concluded that there was moderate level of knowledge and average level of practice of both drivers and pedestrians on road safety rules and regulations among secondary school students. It therefore suggests awareness programs on road safety rules and regulations are significant or school students to promote safety.

INTRODUCTION As a result of a single spinal injury seen at Frimley Park Hospital, we reviewed the injuries recorded at the Army School of Physical Training since December 1996. PATIENTS AND METHODS This was a retrospective review of all acute accidents and injuries recorded in the Accident Book since its inception. RESULTS Over 75% of the injuries that were serious enough to result in soldiers having their training terminated were as a direct result of gymnastic events such as vaulting, trampolining and somersaults. These events were also responsible for most of the small number of career-threatening injuries. CONCLUSIONS This raises questions about the inclusion of gymnastic events in course training programmes, especially when considering its relevance to army training in general.

Abstract:
Background:Traffic accidents, hazardous behaviors, and caretakers’ opinions have a strong effect on students’ safety during the drop-off and pick-up period. The present research about student drop-off and pick-up behaviors and spatial analysis will be helpful for better understanding school traffic incidents and related risk factors. Objective:To examine the risk factors associated with school drop-off and pick-up in three dimensions: 1) risk zones, 2) risk behaviors, and 3) risk periods.Method:A mixed method approach was employed using 4 sets of data, consisting of 1) the statistics of accidents occurring around primary schools, 2) the student drop-off and pick-up behaviors, 3) the opinions toward risk zones and risk periods, and 4) the data obtained from the survey and interview. The spatial analysis was conducted using kernel density estimation technique. The statistical data analysis was carried out to analyze and compare the questionnaire responses given by the teachers and parents from the primary schools with the highest accident rate in 5 regions of Thailand. Results:Pedestrian crossing points in front of the school gates and blind spots behind the school buildings were considered the risk zones. In the morning, the parents usually dropped the students off at the pavements in front of the school gate. Some of them walked the students to the classrooms. After school, the parents parked their cars and then walked to wait for the students at the meeting points scattered inside or outside the school. The opinions of the teachers and parents regarding the risk periods were found to be significantly different (p< 0.01), which affected the way the teachers and parents looked out for the students’ safety in the morning and after school period. Conclusion:The areas around pedestrian crossing points and school gates require effective transport planning in order to specifically prevent and monitor hazardous incidents. A scattering of drop-off and pick-up points are risk behaviors. Therefore, each school should clearly set up safe drop-off and pick-up points and pay close attention to the safety of students both in the morning and after school. Creating safety for students should start with improving the school environment in order to reduce anxiety and facilitate behavior change.

Abstract:
In this study, road traffic injury (RTI) was defined as any injury resulting from a road traffic accident irrespective of severity and outcome. Road traffic accident (RTA) was defined as any crash on the road involving at least one moving vehicle, irrespective of it resulting in an injury. This could include collision with a vehicle or any non`moving object while driving/riding a vehicle, collision with a moving vehicle while walking/running/standing/ sitting on the road, or fall from a moving vehicle. The burden of road traffic accidents (RTA) is a leading cause of all trauma admissions in hospitals worldwide. Road traffic injuries cause considerable economic losses to victims, their families, and to nations as a whole. These losses arise from the cost of treatment (including rehabilitation and incident investigation) as well as reduced/lost productivity (e.g. in wages) for those killed or disabled by their injuries and for family members who need to take time off work (or school) to care for the injured. Road traffic fatality in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is the highest, accounts for 4.7% of all mortalities. Road injuries also are reported to be the most serious in this country, with an accident to injury ratio of 8:6. In this study, we try to focus on some causes of the accidents in KSA, so we can implement the prevention plan.

Abstract:
The SAFE (Safe Accident Free Environment) Schools Project is an innovative injury prevention project which focuses on health and safety issues relevant to the City of Onkaparinga catchment area. Specifically, this project was relevant for the education of school students as it linked with the nationally developed school curriculum, Health and Physical Education Statement and Profile (Curriculum Coorporation, 1994), in particular the components relating to 'Safety, Community Practices and Health of Populations' (Curriculum Coorporation, 1994). The project used a collaborative approach to involve students at primary school level in learning how to identify and respond to safety hazards that affect their everyday lives. Local primary schooI staff, a community health team from Noarlunga Health Services (NHS), community members and key people from local service agencies worked together to involve the students in a creative and practical way in learning about safety hazards. Students developed skills in identifying and reporting safety hazards in their school and local community with opportunities to develop and work with a process that provides positive action in regard to safety hazards.

Abstract:
Research conducted at the Navy Postgraduate School, over the past 10 years, has focused on key organizational factors that may influence the likelihood of an accident or organizational failure. The concept of “high-reliability-organizations”, originated by Dr. Karlene Roberts and her colleagues at UC Berkeley, California, and was used as a point of departure for understanding how different organizations manage the risk of accidents and other organizational failures. High-reliability organizations are those that are very successful at reducing the risks of operational hazards that typically underlie accidents and organizational disasters, such as the Challenger and Columbia Shuttle accidents. Included in the concept of high-reliability organizations are factors related to the safety culture of the organization. The author and his colleagues at the Naval Postgraduate School and UC Berkeley have developed and validated a web-based safety climate assessment and feedback system now in use in Naval Aviation and in other aviation, aerospace, and medical applications. This paper reviews recent findings in the application of safety climate and culture assessments conducted in naval aviation and US hospitals.

Abstract:
Written in a style inspired by Hawaiian language newspapers of the 19th century, this moʻolelo (history) seeks to tell the story of Hawaiian patriotism at the Kamehameha Schools, a school for Indigenous children founded and funded by a princess of the Hawaiian Kingdom. With Raphael Lemkin’s phases of genocide in our pocket and Lomawaima and McCarty’s Safety Zone Theory as our guide, readers will journey through the school’s correspondence, teacher meeting minutes, and Hawaiian language newspapers documenting the celebration of the holiday Lā Kūʻokoʻa, the events surrounding the 1895 Kaua Kūloko, and the experiences of the first Indigenous teacher hired by the school.

Abstract:
A dance floor is often the only support of movements in dance. A dance floor surface that shows deficiencies, can result in acute injuries and chronic problems. Although the significance of an adequate dance floor is well known, there is still a lack of differentiated analyses of dance floor-related acute injuries. OBJECTIVE: This study presents data on acute injuries exclusively caused by the dance floor. METHODS: The data were obtained from standardized work accident reports from consultants (F 1000), documentary accident records from all Berlin theatres, a state ballet school (n=2,281), and case records from the Berlin State Accident Insurance (UKB) covering a period of 17 years. All analyses and descriptive statistics were conducted with Excel 2007 and SPSS 18. RESULTS: Dance floor surfaces were the causative factor in 12.8% of all accidents (n=291, female 183, male 108). Almost two thirds (62.6%) of all accidents in professional dancers happened on stage, and almost half (49.5%) occurred during performances. As for causative factors, 53.1% of the professional dancers (P) and 42.5% of the dance students (S) claimed that the floor had been “too slippery,” with “getting stuck” or “tripping” as the second most common problem (P 18.4%, S 11.3%). Of the injured dancers, 41.8% were older than 30 years and can therefore be categorized as experienced. CONCLUSION: Dance floors play a significant role in the occurrence of acute injuries, even in experienced dancers. Performances on stage seem to be a particular risk. However, injury prevention measures should include all work locations (P) as well as non-dance-specific locations (S).

Abstract:
The Traffic Education is currently a reality to be considered, considering that traffic accident is the main cause of death among children and adolescents, surpassing even homicides and any other “natural” cause of death, where it aims to preserve the life and physical integrity of humans beings in traffic situations. Thus, this article aims to present the contextualization of public policies for the reduction of accidents suffered by children from Early Childhood Education to Elementary School in Latin America and Brazil in the last decade. In conclusion, Traffic Education can contribute to the formation of adequate behaviors of children and adolescents, changing, in the medium and long term, the behavior of adults, where the school, family and government should be involved, emphasizing that this work should begin from an early age and extend to higher education.

Abstract:
Aim. The main objective of this article is to contribute to the research in the area of accident incident rates among school children. Methods. A non-standardized, 12-item questionnaire based on independent compilation was used for data collection. The questionnaire contained closed questions which monitor the nature of school-related injuries, gender and age of respondents. Results. 100 students with diagnosed ADHD and 100 children without ADHD diagnosis participated in the research. The accident and incident data were collected between September 2016 and June 2017. Out of 100 given questionnaires filled by ADHD children, the result shows that 49% of them experienced an injury in school and children without ADHD diagnosis reported injury in only 26% of cases, which means that roughly every second child with a Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder experienced an injury some time during the school year during class, whereas among neurotypical children this ratio would refer to every fourth child. Conclusions. The results of the analysts pointed at the possible need of informing all staff involved in the education system of ADHD children about the risks of injury in school environment and thus support the prevention of injuries, support the prevention programs which would be focused on children with attention disorders.
