The focus of this article is on the quality safety in Schools. Although safety in schools is a worldwide problem, in South Africa this seems to be getting worse for they are broken into, vandalized and set alight in vast majority. Taking a heed to around 1600 number of schools robbed, vandalized and torched during this frustrating and terrifying period of COVID -19, one would agree that schools are not protected. People seemed to have lost ethics and ownership towards schools. Schools appeared to be the safest place as well as conducive for study in the previous decades. Safety school promotes

A policy and legal framework for school libraries is a guiding framework for the provision, development and management of school libraries. Similarly, it is a lever that standardises school library development, management and practice. Although the existence of a policy does not guarantee the development of efficient and functional school libraries, its inherent value cannot be overemphasised. It is widely documented that in South Africa, only 7.2 per cent of public schools have functional school libraries, which are crucial to enrich the quality of teaching and learning and support learners a

Most governments, particularly in poor and developing African countries, are hesitant to pledge themselves through a legislated school library policy to roll out an active and sustainable library and information service for their schools to improve the quality of education. In South Africa, providing schools with a well-resourced and well-staffed library and information service is even more challenging because of the inheritance of the apartheid education system prior to 1994. Abstract:
Underscoring the immense educational policy reform which accompanied the emergence of a democratic South Africa is an emphasis of the (re)alignment of rights, justice, and equitable access. It soon became apparent that, although educational reform aligned itself with notions of democratic citizenship education, inadequate attention was being given to, on the one hand, the capacity of teachers, and on the other hand, the willingness of teachers to assume responsibility for their roles as facilitators of citizenship education. The concern of this chapter is to consider the role of “the teacher” in relation to educational policy. Secondly, attention is given to the types of interventions availed to teachers in their roles as the facilitators of democratic citizenship education. The chapter concludes by showing that not only has educational policy reform been remiss of “the teacher,” but it is also this inattention that continues to undermine the democratic agenda within schools and beyond.

Abstract:
Teenage pregnancy in South African schools poses a serious management and leadership challenge. This chapter is based on the findings of a study that was conducted in South Africa, Limpopo Province. The aim of the study was to examine causes and factors responsible for teenage pregnancy in secondary schools in the Vhembe district of Limpopo Province, South Africa. This chapter explores the consequences of teenage pregnancy. Findings reveal that poverty, lack of parental guidance, and peer pressure could be some of the causes of teenage pregnancy. The study also suggests that pregnant learners are victims of expulsion or school dropout. The study further recommends that intervention programs be developed that include training of school management teams, school governing bodies, and educators to effectively educate and manage learners who are pregnant.

Abstract:
This chapter is framed within the broader context of the transformative agenda of higher education sector in post-apartheid South Africa. The #FeesMustFall campaign started late October 2015 and the entire 2016 and has grown to become one of the biggest movements ever witnessed in the history of South African student politics. Similarly to the struggle waged by 1976 youth against the dominance of Afrikaans as the medium of instruction, FMF challenges the current government and universities to provide free, quality, and decolonized higher education. The slow pace of transformation, inaccessibility institutions due to fee increment, and Eurocentric curriculum, among others prompted the students to demand accessible financial inclusion and education relevant to their needs and reality. The chapter makes use of qualitative approach with both secondary and primary data extracted from books, accredited articles, and empirical data from selected participants.

Abstract:
The purpose of this literature study was to investigate the impact of the knowledge and attitude of School Governing Board (SGB) members towards adoption of social justice and democratic practices for quality education in South African public schools with special reference to the language policy. Findings indicated that that bias is still a challenge in the institutions of learning in South Africa in terms of the implementation of the language policy by the members of the SGB. It was also found that increasing the level knowledge of the members; SGB members regarding social justice and democratic principles and practices with special reference to the South African language policy will change their attitude and behavior geared towards improved implementation of the same policy. It is also concluded that effective implementation of change management models can also coordinate the link between knowledge development, change of attitude and behavior towards effective implementation strategies of the language policy.
