Abstract:
A private study commission is urging "the wholesale closing" of US medical schools during the next decade to avert a glut of doctors. The Pew Health Professions Commission on Thursday urged a similar retrenchment ent in pharmacy schools and elimination of at least 10% of nurse training programs. It called for constricting the pipeline of foreign doctors who come to this country to train and usually wind up practicing here. . . . The provocative study, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts, a private philanthropy, did not sit well with leaders of academic medicine.

AbstractThis paper examines how the decision-making process and its consequences affect medical technology transfer in major Chinese medical schools. Data are from a 1987 survey of 13 key medical universities, directly supervised by the Ministry of Public Health in the People's Republic of China. This paper limits itself to four types of laboratory equipment — electron microscopes, UV/VIS spectrophotometers, high-performance liquid chromatographs, and polygraphs. Decisions on the transfer of medical technology have been more decentralized in China since the economic reform in 1978. The major r

In educational work, schools should pay attention to the social cognitive skills of medical students, and at the same time pay attention to the cultivation of students’ basic qualities. Schools need to find problems in time, and schools need to take corresponding measures to deal with these problems. Medical colleges need to strengthen the training of medical students’ com

Introduction Technical standards document US medical school's nonacademic criteria necessary for admission, persistence, and graduation and communicate the school's commitment to disability inclusion and accommodation but are considered one of the largest barriers for students with disabilities. Calls for more inclusive technical standards have increased in recent years, yet the impact of this work on changing technical standards has not been measured. Competency of graduates 3-7 years after graduation and health indicators of the provinces of both medical schools were examined. Gezira had a more community-oriented curriculum although it was deficient in other aspects. The degree of partnership of both schools with the Ministry of Health and the community was weak and the schools’ research programmes had no community orientation. Graduates had similar profiles of job satisfaction, community service,
