Abstract:
The article examines two views on the terms as parts of speech. One of them suggests that a term can be expressed only by a noun or a substantial word combination, i. e. by a phrase which has a noun as syntactically most principal word. This point of view is based, first, on the fact that it is the noun that has broad semantic capabilities and isable to convey the essence of terminological names, and, second, on the analysis of real terminological dictionaries, in which noun is the most often input unit. Another point of view is that the term can be expressed not only by a noun or substantial word combination, and modern lexicographic practice seems to confirms this. The authors consistently provide examples confirming that linguistic specificity of the term cannot be limited by its expression only by nouns. For example, the adjectives technogenic, cerebral, juvenile, etc. are not derived from any substantive, which theoretically could have been the case, but so far there are no such nouns either in dictionaries or in any relevant texts (technogenic — technogenicity* or technogeny*, cerebral — cerebrality*, cerebral*, juvenile — juvenality* or juvenile*). Such adjectives act as independent terms and express certain concepts in the relevant science. Thus, the authors argue that the term can be expressed not only by a noun, but also by an adjective and a verb.

Abstract:
Dictionary usage is one of the potential English as a foreign language learning strategy. The research paper investigates current tendencies in electronic dictionaries use for EFL learning at Ukrainian universities and the attitudes of Ukrainian students toward them. The scholars attempt to answer the following question: What are Ukrainian EFL learners’ use and views of electronic dictionaries? The current study aims to fill a gap in existing literature regarding Ukrainian EFL learners’ preferences and the use of different electronic dictionaries for language learning. The significance of this research lies in understanding the learners’ preferences and support of the electronic dictionaries will help to find effective teaching practices fostering student-centered approaches. We used a quantitative method to collect research data through online tools (Google forms). It was achieved due to analyzing responses to the survey-based questionnaire of 32 learners of Vinnytsia Institute of Trade and Economics of the State University of Trade and Economics, Ukraine. The findings suggest that students usually use various types of electronic dictionaries because they help them to develop four basic language skills. The participants preferred using electronic dictionaries as effective and motivating aids. We concluded that Ukrainian learners had a positive attitude toward electronic dictionaries implementation as they can improve both the teaching and learning process in educational institutions.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of the lexicographic work of the Department of Linguistics of the Institute of History, Language and Literature of the Ufa Federal Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences over the past century. From the moment of the creation of the Institute, the lexicographic work has become one of the main in its activities. The efforts of the Institute staff have created and are still creating numerous dictionaries related to various lexicographic types. Among them are spelling dictionaries that codify the literary norms of the language, terminological dictionaries that cover various branches of science, technology and production, they laid the foundations of a new scientific terminology and scientific style of the Bashkir language. Today, there are more than sixty Bashkir terminological dictionaries. Bilingual and multilingual dictionaries are designed to meet the needs of bilingual and multilingual readers, educational dictionaries meet the didactic objectives. The dialectological dictionaries contain especially valuable information on the peculiarities of dialects of the Bashkir language. A lot of semasiological and word-formation dictionaries help to establish roots and semantic features of the Bashkir language. Creating onomastic dictionaries is one of the priorities in the activities of the Institute. Among the dictionaries on ethnolinguistics, dictionaries of mythological vocabulary stand out, where for the first time in Turkology lexemes on the mythology of the people are presented. In the Department of Linguistics, there is a card file of standard and dialect vocabulary of the Bashkir language. Its volume is over 3 million units. The card file was accumulated as a result of linguistic expeditions of different years. The card file is replenished to this day. Based on its materials, full explanatory dictionaries were published, first a monolingual two-volume dictionary (1993), then a multilingual ten-volume Academic Dictionary of the Bashkir Language (2011–2018). The dictionaries are designed to help comprehend the secrets of the native language. An important role is played by modern electronic dictionaries. It was the Department of Linguistics (with its dictionary, dialectology and toponymy sectors in different years) that predominantly prepared and published these lexicographic works. In recent years, the Department’s staff have been compiling an etymological dictionary of the Bashkir language. The article also describes the lexicographic publications in terms of their significance in the spiritual culture of the Bashkir people. The article notes outstanding Bashkir lexicographers, whose dedicated work allowed the Institute of History, Language and Literature to become one of the recognized centers forTurkic lexicography.

Abstract:
Small leaks in water distribution networks have been a major problem both economically and environmentally, as they go undetected for years. We model the signature of small leaks as a unique Directed Acyclic Graph, called the Lean Graph, to find the best places for k sensors for detecting and locating small leaks. We use the sensors to develop dictionaries that map each leak signature to its location. We quantify leaks by matching out-of-normal flows detected by sensors against records in the selected dictionaries. The most similar records of the dictionaries are used to quantify the leaks. Finally, we investigate how much our approach can tolerate corrupted data due to sensor failures by introducing a subspace voting based quantification method. We tested our method on water distribution networks of literature and simulate small leaks ranging from [0.1, 1.0] liter per second. Our experimental results prove that our sensor placement strategy can effectively place k sensors to quantify single and multiple small leaks and can tolerate corrupted data up to some range while maintaining the performance of leak quantification. These outcomes indicate that our approach could be applied in real water distribution networks to minimize the loss caused by small leaks.

Abstract:
For all research data collected, data descriptions and information about the corresponding variables are essential for data analysis and reuse. To enable cross-study comparisons and analyses, semantic interoperability of metadata is one of the most important requirements. In the area of clinical and epidemiological studies, data collection instruments such as case report forms (CRFs), data dictionaries and questionnaires are critical for metadata collection. Even though data collection instruments are often created in a digital form, they are mostly not machine readable; i.e., they are not semantically coded. As a result, the comparison between data collection instruments is complex. The German project NFDI4Health is dedicated to the development of national research data infrastructure for personal health data, and as such searches for ways to enhance semantic interoperability. Retrospective integration of semantic codes into study metadata is important, as ongoing or completed studies contain valuable information. However, this is labor intensive and should be eased by software. To understand the market and find out what techniques and technologies support retrospective semantic annotation/enrichment of metadata, we conducted a literature review. In NFDI4Health, we identified basic requirements for semantic metadata annotation software in the biomedical field and in the context of the FAIR principles. Ten relevant software systems were summarized and aligned with those requirements. We concluded that despite active research on semantic annotation systems, no system meets all requirements. Consequently, further research and software development in this area is needed, as interoperability of data dictionaries, questionnaires and data collection tools is key to reusing and combining results from independent research studies.

Abstract:
The aim of the study is to determine the features of the presentation of linguistic terminology in 1960-2010 dictionaries and reference literature on the Russian language, identifying common and distinctive features in the inclusion of the metalanguage of linguistics in these publications, as well as morphological terms. In the course of the study, a range of such publications was established and the named terms, which had been interpreted in one or another way in the dictionaries and reference books in question, were identified. Statistical data on the volume of vocabulary in the publications under consideration were given in comparison with the number of morphological terms included in them. The ratio of independent and reference dictionary entries was determined, allowing the addressees of the dictionaries to establish the systemic, genus-species, relations between the morphological terms included in dictionaries and reference editions. Attention is drawn to the content and features of the construction of independent dictionary entries. The study is novel in that it is the first to analyse the morphological component of the main lexicographic publications on the terminology of the Russian language reflecting the classical and modern achievements of Russian grammatical thought. The obtained results showed that the terms of morphological science are not equally represented in the thesauruses of the main dictionaries on the terminology of the Russian language. This fact is explained by the total volume of terminological vocabulary of the publications examined, their genre features (encyclopaedia, reference book, educational dictionary, etc.), the purpose of creation, the nature of the addressee. One of the significant factors accounting for the difference between morphological terms in the main terminological dictionaries of the Russian language is the formation of new linguistic disciplines, new scientific schools and directions that develop their own metalanguage.

Abstract:
In the last twenty years the computer has become the main means of access to highly specialized knowledge and also a protected way of transmission of information in the field of science, technics, literature and arts. The process started by the computerization of librarian catalogues as well by linking of big publishers onto database as PASCAL. Publishers of specialized journals, of press, professional associations and publishing houses made their publications accessible on the computer network, they listed and created their own archives and also made possible the access to research centres, scientific and research workers, publishers and interested readers. In this research work we tried to look up the dictionaries of terms in the field of tourism industry, in French, in the electronic form. Nowadays, the dictionaries of terms can be found in Internet and they are accessible to a wide range of users because they are easily and quickly obtainable. We made a research of various dictionaries of terms in the field of tourism industry in French and the most interesting ones were described.

Abstract:
Juvenile hemochromatosis (JH), type 2A hemochromatosis, is a rare autosomal recessive disorder of systemic iron overload due to homozygous mutations of HJV (HFE2), which encodes hemojuvelin, an essential regulator of the hepcidin expression, causing liver fibrosis, diabetes, and heart failure before 30 years of age, often with fatal outcomes. We report two Japanese sisters of 37 and 52 years of age, with JH, who showed the same homozygous HJV I281T mutation and hepcidin deficiency and who both responded well to phlebotomy on an outpatient basis. When all reported cases of JH with homozygous HJV mutations in the relevant literature were reviewed, we found—for the first time—that JH developed in females and males at a ratio of 3:2, with no age difference in the two groups. Furthermore, we found that the age of onset of JH may depend on the types of HJV mutations. In comparison to patients with the most common G320V/G320V mutation, JH developed earlier in patients with L101P/L101P or R385X/R385X mutations and later in patients with I281T/I281T mutations.

Abstract:
Currently, juvenile literature is intended for entertainment and leisure of the reader, with remarkable characters and stories that awaken the imagination through fantasy resources. Juvenile works of success and popularity among young people show us that reading can be enjoyable when it is not mandatory. Taking into account the interest of young readers into fantasy and entertainment literature, based on the studies of researchers in this field and in our experience in the classroom, where we saw that relating some scientific issues with fantasy make the lessons more attractive and understandable for students we decided to explore the possibilities of application in teaching science. We have selected four juvenile series to explore their potential in teaching, they are: Lucky Starr by Isaac Asimov, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell and Percy Jackson & the Olympians by Rick Riordan. These series have the plot based on fantasy resources. The generative trajectory of the greimasian semiotics helped us as an analytical reference in the verification of how science is represented in fantasy books. Overall, we have seen that science is implicitly present in series, through technology and imaginary beings such as fairies, gods and dragons. Because it is more recent and known among the public, we have selected the book The Lightning Thief, the first book of Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, for development activities and application. The activities were implemented in a public school of São Paulo-SP, in a book club project called LUCIA (Portuguese acronym for Universal Readings and Investigative Science for Teenagers), organized by the research group in which this work is part. The target audience consisted of students from the 8th and 9th grade of elementary school, with participation of school teachers and undergraduates of the EACH-USP, who acted as monitors. We applied two activities with an hour and a half each, and our goals were to assess whether the students would realize how science would be represented in the book The Lightning Thief, by reading the book excerpts, discussion, preparation of drawings and questionnaires, to indicate the students\' understanding of the relationship between science and Greek mythology in this book. As a result, it seems that the chosen literary work was feasible to discuss scientific issues implicit in the story. Moreover, we believe that juvenile literature, specifically the books that are read and admired by students, can be used in the classroom, allowing science to be disseminated, exploited and questioned through fantasy.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter brings together five genres which gave the early modern reader access to pre-existing scientific literature, ancient and medieval sources, and contemporary texts. The first genre to be discussed is translations. The texts translated were mostly of Greek and Arabic origin in the beginning; from the seventeenth century, mainly vernacular texts were Latinized so that they could reach a pan-European readership. Secondly, many scientific texts had to be rendered understandable by commentaries. Classical works used for teaching at the universities were routinely commented upon, while contemporary works were equipped with commentaries mainly for the benefit of private readers. Thirdly, technical dictionaries helped readers to cope with terminological problems encountered in ancient authors and to keep up with the proliferation of new terms that accompanied the development of early modern science. Fourthly, as more and more scientific writings accumulated, readers drowning in an ocean of books were thankful for the orientation provided by bibliographies, which began to appear in the sixteenth century. Finally, reviews published in the new medium of the learned journal from the late seventeenth century collectively constituted a kind of topical bibliography.

Abstract:
Abstract Research has consistently indicated that serious and violent adult offenders often show histories of antisocial and aggressive behaviour dating back to early childhood (Marshall & Cooke, 1999). Similarly, within juvenile samples, serious and violent offenders often show a history of conduct problems that pre-date their illegal acts (Vermeiren, 2003). Thus, understanding serious and violent offending is intertwined with understanding broader patterns of antisocial and aggressive behaviour in children and adolescents. Given their link to violence, it is not surprising that there is rather extensive research literature investigating the development, assessment, prevention, and treatment of serious of conduct problems in youth (Loeber & Farrington, 2000; Raine, 2002; Dodge & Pettit, 2003; Vermeiren, 2003; Frick, 2006).

Abstract:
The history of English spelling is characterised by periods of discontinuity and a slow and relentless shift from a phonemic orthography to a morphophonemic system. There have been two periods when spelling reform of the English language has attracted particular interest: the first was from the middle of the 16th to the middle of the 17th century, when a number of publications and dictionaries outlining proposals for reform were published; the second was between the 18th and early 20th centuries and linked to the development of phonetics as a science. For example, Noah Webster’s dictionary included an essay on the oddities of modern orthography and his proposals for reform (some of which would become hallmarks of American English spelling). The purpose of this study is to review proposals for English-language spelling reform since the 1950s – New Spelling, Regularised English, Spelling Reform 1, Cut Spelling, Shavian, Interspel, and the Petersonian English Alphabet – to identify their main common traits by highlighting the underlying ideas of simplification. All the models under consideration show a preference for a phonemic spelling system as an ideal in the direction of linguistic simplicity.

Abstract:
Not much is written about communication in the languages of natural sciences and hunting. Only a few authors explore literature and the language of forestry or hunting (Dynak 1988, 1991a, 1991b, 1993, 1994, 2004, 2012; Jóźwiak Z. 2004; Jóźwiak J. 2013; Kloc 2019; Kościelniak-Marszał 2013; Pajewska 2003; Przybecki 2008). At the same time, these languages, both in Poland and abroad, have not been researched into so far from a broader comparative perspective in the field of intercultural communication. First of all, monolingual dictionaries are available on the market (e.g. Hoppe 1970; Gawin 2016; Jóźwiak; Biały 1994; Kozłowski 1996; Krzemień 1986; Szałapak 2004). In addition, you can find several bilingual dictionaries of the forestry or hunting language in Polish-English (Kloc 2013, 2015; Witkowska 2010), Polish-German (Niedbał 1917; Żeromski 1990; Klin et al. 2006) pairs and vice versa, but there are no dictionaries for other language pairs, e.g. Polish-French. There are also no papers devoted to communication problems, despite the fact that books on nature sciences and hunting are translated from various languages into Polish, and there is a market demand for translators ensuring effective interlingual communication during hunting trips. The aim of the work is to present the problems of intercultural communication in the field of natural sciences and hunting language. The results presented in the work were obtained by analyzing the work of students participating in a specialist translation course. A qualitative analysis of the mistakes made by students has been made and conclusions have been drawn as to how well a student of philological studies is prepared to translate natural science texts, including hunting texts.

Abstract:
Focusing on the African American poet and playwright Amiri Baraka (LeRoi Jones), the Introduction explores links between 1950s and 1960s process literature and the Community Action Program. Baraka’s Black Arts Repertory Theatre and School (BARTS) was funded through the War on Poverty, and his version of process art fulfilled the participatory requirements of the Community Action Program. Both Baraka and many welfare activists allied with the Community Action Program also drew on a binary conception of class culture popularized by the post–World War II counterculture and liberal social science. This binary conception produced two figures that alternately incited and frustrated literary and social work efforts to bridge the gap between the middle class and the poor: the juvenile delinquent and the welfare mother.

Abstract:
The rare book section appeared in the library named after M.V. Lomonosov 8 years ago. This fund is small - only a couple of hundred books. However, its value is measured not by size, but by uniqueness. The basis of the fund is made up of editions of the XIX–XX centuries. In terms of its content, the fund is universal. Most of it is fiction. In addition, there is popular science literature of past centuries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, newspapers. The collection of rare books includes: the collection “Poems and Prose Articles” by Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov, published in 1886 and donated in 1984 by the poet Ion Odobescu; A. Glazunov, 1895 edition; I. Turgenev –1898; M. Gorky – 1901; Emilian Bukov – 1938; V. Zhukovsky – 1902; N. Leskov – 1903; P. Tchaikovsky – 1908; I. Brahms – 1873; M. Yu. Lermonotov – 1940; H. Wells – 1909 “Otechestvennye zapiski” – 1840; “Bulletin of Europe” – 1879; “Course of Geography of NonEuropean Countries” – 1905; “Niva” – 1899; K. Marx’s “Capital” – published in 1950 and much more. Our books are not museum pieces. They form part of the actively used collection of the library. Any interested reader can get acquainted with the collection of rare books on the website of the library M. V. Lomonosov in the “Rare Books” section.

Abstract:
Developing multiagent systems theory and application in recent years has led to a veritable revolution in modeling complex systems. Commonly used modeling style is the one based on equations. With the help of this type of modeling, the researchers have made many calculations in order to determine equations of projectiles, and missiles motions in the air, some corrections that apply at the time of the adverse conditions to achieve the final goal of hittng the targetThe domain of the agents and the multiagent systems is a new one and dynamic and has associated a technology on maturization. It is clear that this technology will be predominant in the informational applications of the future, in the digital common environment, in the future corporations and in the creation of the intelligent services. Agents are and will be used in a great variety of applications, from the small dimension systems, as personalised e-mail filters or agents for shoppings to great systems, complex, as organisations and virtual economical systems. The agent concept has became since the XX th century, a central element in a few scientifical disciplines which have e a high development rank. The artificial intelligence, cybernetics, computer science, computational economy frequently use the concept of agent and the abducted methods from this. In this moment there exists a rich literature from this domain, which contains a lot of definitions, but from the gained knowledges I will try to describe this concept as simple. In dictionaries, the agent is defined as "someone who, or whereby power is exerted or creates an effect", but this definition is too basic
