This study investigated what judges looked for in an experimental science fair project and how the judges conducted a judging conversation. Audio-recordings of three judges' conversations with the same student and an in depth interview with each judge provided the data base for this study. <p> With rapid growth of transportation demands in urban cities, one major challenge is to provide efficient and effective door-to-door service to passengers using the public transportation system. This is commonly known as the Last Mile problem. In this thesis, we consider a dynamic and demand responsive mechanism for Ridesharing on a non-dedicated commercial fleet (such as taxis). This problem is addressed as two sub problems, the first of which is a special type of vehicle routing problems (VRP). The second sub-problem, which is more challenging, is to allocate the cost (i.e. total fare)

We study the problem of distributing a single global task between a group ofheterogeneous robots. We view this problem as a fair division game. In this setting, every robot defines a preference function over parts of the task according to its sens-ing and motion capabilities. These preferences are described by density functionsover the task. We want to find an allocation of the global task that maximizes theprobability of task completion. We first formulate the task distribution problem as afair subdivision problem and provide a centralized algorithm to compute the alloca-tions for each robot.

How should we divide a good or set of goods among a set of agents? There are various constraints that we can consider. We consider two particular constraints. What if these valuations need to be elicited, and agents will misreport their valuations if it is beneficial? Can we design procedures that elicit agents' true valuations while preserving the quality of the allocation? We consider truthful and fair resource allocation procedures th
