Full textThe construction industry has not undergone the same logistical development as the manufacturing industry; this, in combination with increased material price, leads to the fact that the construction industry must be improved. This master thesis is a part of the research cooperation Brains & Bricks goal of reducing production costs for the construction sector by 25 percent. Brains & Bricks is a cooperation between Linköping University, Peab and Katrineholms municipality. The master thesis aims to identify improvements in the flow of material, the Supply chain operation reference, SCOR, model has been used and the work has been carried out on one of Peab’s construction sites.
At present the business is characterized by bad communication both between the construction site and the office as well as between the construction site and suppliers. Material obtained from local suppliers contributes to unnecessarily long flows of material. The absence of quantitative data is palpable and makes an evaluation of the situation hard to achieve.
The result of the work shows that there exists a great potential of cost savings in a reduction of the material flow. A quantitative analysis of the metric "perfect order fulfillment" shows that no examined supplier meets the expectations. With the help of quantitative evaluations which is served to the supplier the possibility to overcome the problems is increased. In order to improve communication internally it is suggested that any major construction site dedicates a person to manage the logistics and act as a link between the construction site and the office.
Establishment of a terminal where products could be gathered allows Peab to use its size to obtain volume discounts. The terminal also allows more frequent deliveries of specific products at the same time as the total number of deliveries can be reduced. Moreover, the terminal serves as a natural consolidation point for gypsum waste, which allows for a profitable recycling of it.

The present study has as main object to find the relationship between the integrated phases of the grape producing companies located in Ica and the exportations to the United States. The first chapter shows the product to be analyzed related to the international arena. Subsequently, it shows previous research based on studies regarding the impact of integrated supply chain practices in different organizations. It also presents theoretical bases about the supply chain, export theories and international trade. In the second chapter, the research plan has been developed, where we will present the problem to be addressed, together with the research objectives and hypotheses, in addition to including the situation of the problem where we will touch more fully on the importance of the present study. The third chapter presents the research approach to be developed, in this quantitative case, as well as the descriptive and correlational non-experimental cross-sectional or transactional design, by collecting forms to carry out a factor analysis. In the development of the investigation, chapter four, the information from the surveys is processed, to validate the variables used. Finally, in the fifth and last chapter, the analysis of the results of the study must be presented, which indicate the most influential variables in exports according to industry experts. The most important finding of this research concludes that of all the practices that are an integral part of the supply chain of the 30 companies analyzed, only those related to sales and operations planning are related to their fresh grape exports to the United States during the period 2012 to 2018.

Full textThis dissertation presents a new automated tool to evaluate the processes of Supply Chain Management (SCM) based on the SCOR reference model, one of the most used models in the industry, according to the literature, but that still presents significant challenges for its adoption, notably in regards of its complexity and cost. To address these aspects, this work specified the functional requirements and a database with the whole SCORE structure, and implemented a prototype of the tool called Supply Performer, innovative because it helps SCOR deployment without the need of deep knowledge about the model, neither the hiring of a specialized consulting. To validate its applicability and generalization, the tool was used on a real case scenario and a 25 percent gain was observed in the diagnosis task of the clients and supplier registration process of a large multinational company. The tool also allowed the creation of a plan of action, and based on the identified gaps, to follow up the process improvement evolution. Its use enabled a quick delivery of results to the client, in a structured and organized way, turning SCORE into a more accessible model. On the basis of the promising results, the patent for the Supply Performer tool was registered on the INPI (Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial) BR 51 2018 000240-4.

Full textPurpose – The purpose of this thesis is to develop an understanding on how a crucial process can be identified and how to make it more efficient in order to increase delivery reliability to customer using the SCOR-model. To fulfil the purpose it has been broken down into three parts:Part 1: To map the current order flow with material flow and information flowPart 2: To evaluate the order flow using the SCOR-model and identify a crucial process in order to increase delivery reliability to customerPart 3: To analyze the crucial process using the SCOR-model and identify areas of improvement in order to increase delivery reliability to customerMethod – In order to meet the purpose of thesis, a case study has been conducted on Expedit AB. Literature studies were performed to create a theoretical framework. To gather empirical data, interviews, document studies and observations was conducted. To analyze the empirical findings pattern matching was used and also analyze tools such as flow mapping and cause-and-effect-diagram. The supply chain operations reference model calculations methods were used to make calculations.Findings – The first part of the purpose was accomplished through interviews, observations and was illustrated in a flow map. As a result of the evaluation of the order flow the purchasing process was identified as the crucial process. This conclusion was made since 55% of the deviations was related to the purchasing process. Five areas of improvement were identified within the crucial process was lack of communication, variations, lack of standards, incorrect order registration and external deviations. In order to handle problems related to lack of communication, variations, incorrect order registration and external deviations the SCOR-models purchasing practices were used. In order to handle problems related to lack of standards additional theories where used and by doing so the purpose could be fulfilled.Implications – This study has shown how a crucial process in an order flow can be identified and how to make it more efficient in order to increase delivery reliability to customer. The study has contributed to strengthening existing theories.Limitations – This case study only consist one case instead of several which would have increased the generalizability of the study. A majority of the conducted interviews are mostly based on supplementaries, this lower the reliability of the study since these questions are based on the respondents answers.

Full textIn Peru, the growth of exports of dressing cloths has turned the sector of manufacturing cloths in a sector of relevant importance for the development of the country. The manufacture of dressing cloths represents 7,1 % of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). In trade terms our country has a surplus being the principal exported product the fabrics, specifically in cotton t-shirts, due to great experience in this item by local companies. Nowadays the market of exporting companies of manufacturing clothes develops its activity by increasing the degree of exigency in terms of variety of products, quality, price and level of service. In this context, logistics has turned into a key and strategic function to reach competitive advantages. In this respect, the management of the supply chain receives every time more importance to establish plans of improvement, to improve logistic processes and, in consequence, to raise the level of competitiveness of companies. So that, the model SCOR used by the present investigation, is a tool for the organizations to diagnose the current situation in which they find the processes of the supply chain and establish the improvements that allow them to raise its level of competitiveness. In order to validate the proposed tool there appeared a series of requirements that a company of the sector should fulfill with purpose of knowing and evaluating all its processes. These requirements are: to be integrated vertically, to destine 100 % of production, which must not be less than 400 000 pieces per month to the external market, to have a prepared teamwork, innovative and interactive that can be able to give a fast answer to the changeable and demanding market; to have definite processes of logistics of inside and outside; and finally, rely on one definite system of communication in order to allow us to plan the production considering the human and material resources that are needed, as well as to exchange information with the clients: about their requirements and the information of their orders. So the selected company was Textile San Cristobel S.A., company with more than 60 years of experience on the market. The evaluation of the tool allowed us to identify not only the relevancy of the good practices proposed by the model and the approximation of these good practices to the specific and relevant processes of the sector, but the incorporation of good practices that had not been considered in the initial that turn out to be indispensable of evaluating. This work as result, gives a validated tool that can be applied by any company of manufacture, so that it will allow them to measure the scope and current condition of the processes and to appear more improvements with the purpose of being more efficient and competitive.

Full textIn the last decade the complexity of the environment in which organizations are embedded increased dramatically, having on one side the increasingly demanding consumers in regard to the quality and value of the product and the other companies with the need to reduce operating costs in order to achieve greater profitability, without this there is a downturn in growth or market share powers. In this context the necessity of effectively structuring actions relating to the line with the operational work processes so that business objectives are achieved organizational strategic planning, ensuring the competitiveness of the organization. This study aims to analyze how you have made the management of the supply chain in a grocery retailer in the light of guidelines of Supply Chain Management by using the SCOR model. For realization of this study a survey was needed, classified according to their goals, exploratory and descriptive as to its procedure, document, field and case study. Thus, the processing of data will be qualitative merit, using the thematic categorical analysis of Bardin (1977). Thus, to obtain data interviews together the operational and strategic management of a company that was named Supermarket Omega were performed. After analyzing the information obtained is perceived that there is an effort of the organization enhance its management of the supply chain. However, there is a lack of alignment between the various areas that compose it. About their work processes, we stress that the focus of the company is still very directed on sailing than profitability, although it is undergoing a transformation in its organizational culture However, records the existence of many improvement projects in developing. Thus, it can be noticed that there is some consistency between the assumptions of the SCOR model and applied within the supply chain Omega Supermarket, although a greater effort to better align with the model still needs to be studied

The level of importance given to processes under Supply Chain responsibility has increased in the last few years. For many companies the Supply Chain has become a critical factor when it comes to achieving competitive advantage in the markets and a rather relevant target for strategy. This master’s dissertation had the objective to identify the strategy proposition and the outline of the structure of processes used to build a Supply Chain integrated model of management as well as to analyze the contributions of the SCOR model towards the context of the researched company. The research strategy used herewith was an exploratory case study within a company that would provide the means for evidence from its management model. A documentary research was firstly carried out so as to identify the organizational context, listing the events that took place, the organization of the processes that support the integrated management model and the organizational and strategic motivation that led to the setup of the Supply Chain footprint. It was possible to identify the strategies and Supply Chain initiatives alignment through the analysis of content in categories that covered issues such as strategy, performance and integrated supply chain model, performance propositions and the concept of business value, and the realignment of the functional structure within an integrated concept of processes supported by practices and an extended vision of performance. Based on the documentary research and content analysis some contributions were recommended having the SCOR model applied to the current supply chain management model of the company analyzed, with the intention of collaborating with the improvement of the current integrated supply chain management model. The SCOR model analysis of Supply Chain operations and integrated management model is justified because it would not be possible to defend a position and offer contributions to Supply Chain operations without using a conceptual model or processes as reference. This case study allowed for the observation that Supply Chain started to be viewed in a strategic way when the Supply Chain management and business objectives alignment took place and from the definition of Supply Chain as an essential competence to the company’s market competition, developing an organization of processes and structure to support the proposed strategy.

Full textIn the area of building logistics there are great possibilities for improvement since it is today very costly and entails many disruptions in the production. The logistics handled by the subcontractors are often not synchronized with the logistics of the main contractor which leads to more difficulties. Bad communication between the actors and a relationship characterized by mistrust hinders more integrated logistics. The purpose of this study is to examine an alternative solution where the material responsibility is changed from the subcontractor to the main contractor. Such a solution entails that the main contractor is responsible for all the logistics and that the subcontractor will perform the assembly. Through interviews with a main contractor and several subcontractors and suppliers this study aims to answer both how the building logistics and the relationship between main contractor and subcontractor will be affected. As an effect of the change of material responsibility the main contractor will get a higher level of control over the logistics which results in a bigger responsibility but also the possibility to improve deliverance certainty and that the main time schedule is followed. As a consequence of them handling all the logistics they can to a greater extent utilize resources such as joint loading via storage facilities or an internal third-party logistics provider. The main contractor can have an earlier and more direct communication with the supplier. The subcontractor will have less responsibility as a result of the change but also a lowered control over the logistics which leads to a stronger dependence on the main contractor. This implies an increased cooperation between the actors and thus a demand for an improved communication. The main contractor will become less dependent on the subcontractor and therefore the risk for the subcontractor to be replaced will increase. The main benefit with the change of material responsibility is according to the study that the on-site logistics will improve. Difficulties with the reorganization are partly in cultural norms as it will change the subcontractor’s role in the construction logistics and partly in the main contractor’s lack of knowledge about the subcontractor’s material. The study also shows that there is a worry among the actors about who is responsible when a material problem occurs and the change demands an investigation process to determine whether a construction error is caused by a material or assembly error. To conclude; this study shows a big potential in the material responsibility changing from the subcontractor to the main contractor but for such a reorganization to be successful the subcontractor should be included in the process of developing the reorganization. Furthermore, this demand a clear division of responsibilities, an improved communication and an understanding for the other actors’ perspective. If the actors succeed with this change of material responsibility it can lead to a more effective production.

The Virtual Enterprise (VE) subject has been growing in importance in the recent years; however it is still regarded with some suspicion by more pragmatic industry leaders. The lack of business cases using the VE paradigm is due to the inexistence of proved methodologies and standards from the VE creation to the operation phase. One of these phases is the partner's search and selection, which involves several areas, from engineering to business, going through logistics, purchasing and strategic planning. Many factors can be considered when selecting the candidate partners to compose a VE. To assure that fairness will exist between the set of enterprises, a methodology must be created, leading later to some kind of standardization to select partners to compose a Virtual Enterprise. This work presents an approach to help VE managers in the selection of the most suitable enterprises to compose a VE. Applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method having as basis some of the metrics presented in the SCOR model, the VE manager can have a more robust view upon the partners' importance and bill of material's criticality in a given business opportunity. Moreover, a Breeding Environment historical database is proposed to increase the level of trust between its members. Finally, in order to simulate the proposed systematic approach, a multi agent system prototype was designed, implemented and tested against hypothetical scenarios.

Full textThe Supply Chain Management has been showed up as an increasing model adopt in the business world, being ahead of the organizations necessities to rethink their strategies toward the organizations frontiers. Improvement on the proceedings involved on the network links of supllies has the sinergetic effect on the global network performance. This research describes the management performance of the supllies network of drugstore industry from Goiás pole, from the business process: to plan, to suplly, to produce, to distribute and to come back sanctioned by the SCOR model (Supply Chain Operations Reference) The work method consisted of a literature review, covered the contributions about the reference model, allowing that we tested five hypothesis linked on the studied process. To test the hypothesis, a survey was conducted, sent to the all eighteen drugstore industries of the pole, and had an answer tax of fifty six per cent. The results gained, treated by describes statistics techniques suggest that the drugstore industry, don t matter the charge, mainly have the supllies network based in system produced pushed, with little integration between the inter-industries process (links of the network), as the provision side as the demand side.

Full textThe object of this project is to generate a proposal to improve the inbound logistics process under the best practices of the SCOR model for a technology consultancy in Lima in order to optimize the development of strategic information generated by this process. As part of this proposal, a Data Mart will be developed to expedite the collection of this data. Inbound logistics is made up of purchasing and inventory management. This process generates strategic information that is relevant to business areas such as commercial, projects and general management. Today this process is affected by high times and poor planning of the area to carry out its activities of registration and control of information, which generates that later it can’t be consulted quickly and integrated. This directly affects decision-making. The application of SCOR model good practices to the logistics process, showed that the current percentage of time for entering information can be reduced by 35%. Also, through the implementation of the Data Mart, the percentages of operating costs and times to generate strategic information are reduced by 97% and 96% respectively. In this way the proposal demonstrates its effectiveness allowing to optimize the elaboration of strategic information of the area in order to be able to take better decisions in benefit of the business.

Full textLot sizing and scheduling problem has been extensively studied by Operations Research scientists and there is a tendency of incorporating more production processes real aspects in these researches. However, it can be noticed that studies conducted in some industrial sectors neglect important production process technological constraints and it keeps the Operations Research works away from an effective application, as happens with the glass containers industry. In this context, a mixed integer programming model and a solution method were proposed for glass containers industry lot sizing and scheduling problem, the main difference between this work and the others in literature is the inclusion of process specific technological constraints. The proposed model, named CLSD-GCST, was widely validated by a set of tests performed with 40 instances from a large company real problem using the commercial package IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio Version 12.5. The model validation also included a potential business earnings analysis based on SCOR framework. About the proposed solution method, it consists of a Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) metaheuristic and it proved to be promising for the studied problem solution, providing good quality results in low computational time. Moreover, VNS overcame the CPLEX Branch-and-Cut for large instances, in which the commercial package found difficulties. Lastly, the proposed VNS was validated by means of computational tests analysis and its main characteristics were systematically evaluated, generating an information set that may direct this method application and even its evolution in future researches.

Full textThis paper presents and discusses a proposal based on the theory of fuzzy sets to predict performance of focus company in a supply chain modeled according to causal relationships among performance metrics proposed by SCOR (version 8.0). The use of performance measurement systems to manage performance of supply chains presents some limitations such as difficulty of interpretation of results of qualitative nature as well as the complexity of having a conventional performance measuring system that can adequately handle cause-and-effect relationships of metrics of performance of different business processes of a supply chain. On the other hand, fuzzy logic, a technique suitable for dealing with uncertainty and subjectivity, becomes an interesting alternative approach. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, the research was based on the assumption that a quantitative simulation model can be built that explain (at least in part) the behavior of operational processes. Results of simulation were very much in line with those of the SCORmark methodology (SCC). Statistical analysis of the simulation results based on surface response method also confirmed the relevance of the causal relationships embedded in the model. In general, the findings reinforces the proposition that adoption of a simulation model based on fuzzy-logic and on metrics of the SCOR model seems to be a feasible approach to help managers in the decision making process of managing performance of supply chains.

Full textSupply chain performance prediction systems are composed by indicators that aim to estimate the performance of a focal company considering also indicators related to their suppliers. There are two quantitative models in the literature (GANGA; CARPINETTI, 2011; AGAMI; SALEH; RASMY, 2014) that enable to predict the supply chain performance using the indicators proposed by the SCOR® model (Supply Chain Operations Reference). Nevertheless, there is a drawback of both models that refers to the difficulty in adapting to the environment of use, since implementation and updating of these models require parameterization of many decision rules that must be done by an expert. The application of artificial neural networks as well as neuro-fuzzy systems can overcome this drawback by using a learning mechanism that enables the adaptation to the environment of use using numerical data on supply chain performance. However, there are neither studies in the literature that propose the use of these techniques in order to support supply chain performance prediction nor studies that discuss which of these techniques seem to be more appropriate to deal with this problem. Thus, the objective of this study is to propose and evaluate the adequability of the two types of performance prediction systems based on the performance indicators of the SCOR® model, and both using alternatively artificial neural networks and neuro-fuzzy systems to support performance management of a focal company and their supply chain. The implementation of this research involved the use of computer simulation and statistical tests. The results show that although both techniques present a satisfactory predictive capacity, neural networks are more appropriate in relation to the complexity of defining the topological configuration, whereas the neuro-fuzzy systems are more adequate regarding the predictive capacity, complexity of the training, amount of input variables, support to decision-making under uncertainty and interpretability of data. Other results of this research refer to the identification of characteristics of the modeling process of the evaluated techniques, as well as to the review on the use of quantitative techniques for supply chain performance evaluation and to the identification of some research opportunities.

Full textIntroduction. Febrile neutropenic patients, particularly those with haematological diseases, may have abdominal and anorectal conditions as a cause of their clinical decompensation. The follow-up of the infectious condition is a cause of distress for the colorectal surgeon, because the literature on the subject is restricted and oligosymptomatic conditions can lead to death within a short period of time.Goals. To describe, stratify and compare with the literature the casuistry of febrile neutropenic haematological patients with abdominal or anorectal focus identified. To study the absolute and relative risk of mortality of some variables associated with the condition. To propose a severity score of abdominal and anorectal conditions in neutropenic hematologic febrile patients. Materials and Methods. This is a study based on the analysis of 897 medical records of inpatients for hematology and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) teams at the Hospital de Clínicas of the University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto-SP, between the years of 2008-2013. A total of 74 episodes of febrile neutropenia with infectious abdominal or anorectal conditions occurred in 69 patients. After collecting the characteristics regarding the sample, the data were stratified, compared to the literature on the subject, the calculations of effect measures and statistical analysis were performed. Finally, considering the results obtained, the author\'s clinical experience and criteria of common biological plausibility, five aspects were selected as the main predictors of hospital mortality in febrile neutropenic haematological patients with abdominal or anorectal disease. Results. The proposed score showed an increasing mortality rate as the condition worsens and the score rises (Fischer\'s exact test: 0.001). When considering the logistic model of death probability by level of the score, the AUC value found was 0.82 (0.72-0.925) and the Hosmer-Lemeshow statistic value was 2.3, with p = 0.806. Discussion. The scores contribute to daily clinical practice for objective decision making. Similar to the APACHE score and its refinements, the proposed prognostic system has easily accessible variables and satisfactorily translates the behavior and reliability of the results obtained through AUC> 0.8 and Hormer-Lemeshow statistics with p> 0,05. Conclusion. The proposed score system allows predicting the chance of death during hospitalization in febrile neutropenic patients with abdominal or anorectal disease. New studies on the subject are necessary and the proposed score needs and must be validated in a larger and different sample of patients.
