[597]-643.<br>The primary aims of this research were to delimit and define Opistophthalmus and its component species, determine their geographical distributions, ecological predilections and conservation status, and infer a phylogenetic hyothesis for their relationships, using organismal (morphological and behavioural) and molecular (DNA sequence) data. Futher aims were to test the monophyly of Opistophthalmus and of the family Scorpionidae, and to determine their phylogenetic positions with respect to other scorpionoid families and genera.

Methods: A chart review analysis of documented treatment of scorpion envenomations at a university hospital was conducted to compile demographic, drug use, and resource utilization information. Patients were selected based on an ICD-9 code diagnosis of scorpion envenomation within the years 1993 to 2001. Results: 103 patient charts were reviewed. The average length of stay was 1.21 days

Coexistence is common in nature. Two fundamental conditions must meet for competitive species to coexist. First, at least one environmental dimension must be heterogeneous enough for various species to exploit it. The thesis describes the design, testing and flight results from two Skylark rocket experiments which were primarily intended to make high-resolution searches for line emission in the X-ray spectrum of Scorpius X-1. The observations of Sco X-1, up to the end of 1968, over all frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum, are summarised, together with the astrophysical models of the object and their implications for the X-ray spectrum. Uma hipótese de relacionamento e proposta para o gênero Rhopalurus Thorell, 1876 (Scorpiones: Buthidae). O gênero possui 19 espécies e duas subespécies validas, e e diagnosticado principalmente pela presença de aparelho estridulatorio e dilatação dos segmentos do metassoma. O monofiletismo de Rhopalurus nunca foi testado com uma analise filogenetica, e nem a validade desses caracteres para suportar o gênero.
