Abstract:
This paper explores the language learning history and motivational dynamics of Gholam Najafi Fusaro, who came to Italy as an unaccompanied minor in 2006 and has spent eighteen years in Venice, where he attended school and university. Research on motivation and persistence has been mainly conducted in EFL/ESL contexts. Far fewer studies investigate these topics in LOTE contexts and in respect to first generation multilingual teenagers with a migration journey. For this reason, this study uses Participative Narrative Inquiry to capture the complexities of the lived experience of Gholam. Data wer

This study is an art history of Santa Maria dei Carmini, Venice, from its foundation in c. 1286 to the present day, with a special focus on the late Renaissance period (c. 1500-1560). It explores a relatively overlooked corner of Renaissance Venice and provides an opportunity to study the Carmelite Order's relationship to art. It seeks to answer outstanding questions of attribution, dating, patronage, architectural arrangements and locations of works of art in the church. Additionally it has attempted to have a diverse approach to problems of interpretation and has examined the visual imagery'

Since its establishment on the eve of the inauguration of the Suez Canal (1869) opening up the route for a privileged sea passage towards the Orient – as it was then called – the Royal Superior School of Commerce of Venice adopted the ambitious and farsighted policy of making it ‘unique in its genre’ by promoting the teaching of foreign languages, particularly the teaching of Oriental languages. The launching of a Japanese language course taught by a native speaker five years after the School’s creation inaugurated a season of relations between Ca’ Foscari and Japan. Abstract:
In 1885 Marco Antonio Canini was the first teacher of Spanish at the ‘Scuola Superiore di Commercio’ of Venice. He was a very well-known Risorgimento politician and a polyglot who taught Spanish for six years until his death in 1891. Between 1891 and 1910 there was no possibility to study Spanish at ‘Venice Business School’, the first name originally given to Ca’ Foscari University. Daniele Riccoboni taught Spanish for three years, long after Canini, even though he had no specialization in the Spanish language or literature. Antonio Ovio took over the courses of Spanish in 1914: Ovio was prima
