BioMEMS (Biological Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) have been devised and used to investigate MSCs and the cell mechanics in a completely innovative way. Living cells in adhesion can be studied in a physiological condition; the mechanical stretch can be controlled and measured; the MSCs activity can be evaluate using different techniques from patch

2011/2012
In the last years, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) protected by an organic shell of ligands have received a large interest for applications in the biomedical field in particular for diagnosis, imaging and therapy. This class of nanomaterials is largely used because of the easy of synthesis with different core sizes and shapes and controlled dispersion. Moreover, NPs can be protected by a large variety of organic compounds, with different functionalities and to allow the linkage of drugs and biomolecules. The nature of the ligand is responsible of the solubility of the NPs and could be

2012/2013
Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) represent a promising alternative to silicon-based technology. From the first publications about DSSCs in the 90s, they are considered an important breakthrough for achieving high efficiency by using relatively inexpensive and abundant materials. Stability and efficiency are two crucial points in the development of this new class of hybrid photovoltaic devices. Most of the DSSC studies carried out over the past twenty years are based on the optimization of these two aspects. In particular, no particular efficiency improvement was obtained in the

This approach leads to the formation of recessed nanoelectrodes. NEAs have been characterized with cyclic voltammetry and have provided voltammetric signals controlled by pure radial diffusion.
