Abstract:
The special quantum oscillations of the kinetic coefficients in magnetic field ("high-temperature" oscillations - HTO) discovered by the author in 1974 have been considered. The oscillations are periodic in the reciprocal magnetic field and are characterized by a frequency higher then that of Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations. The results of joint studies of SdH oscillations and HTO of the magnetoresistance for pure Bi and alloy BiSb in magnetic field up to 33 T are presented. The oscillations are measured for different magnetic field directions at temperature 4 – 30 K. It was found that Sd

It is established that the spectrum of SdH oscillations in this compound agrees well with theoretical calculations and qualitatively coincides with the analogous spectrum of (ET)_4HgBr_4(C_6H_4Cl_2) isostructural organic metal. The fractional substitution of sulfur by selenium in the cationic layer strongly decreases the values of cyclotron masses. In the quantum limit, we find that conventional 2D dHvA sawtooth behavior is unattainable: in the limit near half-filling, where the magnetic energy dominates, one has square wave dHvA behavior with reduced amplitude; far from half-filling one finds a mixed square wave-sawtooth regime. A crack, or cracks, in a material is perhaps one of the most studied problems in solid mechanics. This is due to the fact that many structural failures are related to the presence of a crack in the material. The knowledge of stress distribution near a crack tip is indispensable in a fracture mechanics analysis (Rice, 1968; Sih and Liebowitz, 1968; Sih and Chen, 1981; Kanninen and Popelar, 1985; K. C.
