Abstract:
Finding similar images on a visual sample is a difficult AI task, to solve which many works are devoted. The problem is to determine the essential properties of images of low and higher semantic level. Based on them, a vector of features is built, which will be used in the future to compare pairs of images. Each pair always includes an image from the collection and a sample image that the user is looking for. The result of the comparison is a quantity called the visual relativity of the images. Image properties are called features and are evaluated by calculation algorithms. Image features can

This thesis reports the results of two pulsar survey projects conducted at the Parkes 64-m radio telescope in New South Wales, Australia. The first, the Swinburne Intermediate Latitude Pulsar Survey, covered a large region of the southern Galaxy flanking that of the ongoing Galactic plane survey. We used the 13-feed 20 cm 'multibeam' receiver package to achieve this broad sky coverage in a short observing campaign with 14 days total integration time. The survey proved remarkably successful, detecting 170 pulsars, 69 of which were new discoveries. Eight of the new discoveries possess small per

While there are a many different types of user tasks performed with computers we can specify common requirements for the IR needed in most ta

Abstract The incredible progress in computing power and availability has created a tremendous wealth of information available at the touch of a few buttons. However, such wealth can easily provoke what is commonly described as ‘information overload.’ The massive number of connections produced by a single search of the Web, for example, can greatly overwhelm users of this new technology. The rapidity of Web searches is due to the synergy between progress made in network connectivity protocols, intelligent search strategies and supporting hardware. This paper will attempt to define the basic ele
