Abstract We give a proof of the Thom–Sebastiani type theorem for holonomic filtered D-modules satisfying certain good conditions (including Hodge modules) by using algebraic partial microlocalization. By a well-known relation between multiplier ideals and V-filtrations of Kashiwara and Malgrange, the argument in the proof implies also a Thom–Sebastiani type theorem for multiplier ideals, which cannot be deduced from an already known proof of the Thom–Sebastiani theorem for mixed Hodge modules (since the latter gives only the information of graded pieces of multiplier ideals). The study of some large specimens of E. sebastiani, collected at the type locality, shows that there are several relevant morphological differences between the two species and thus both species names must be re

AbstractThanks to the work of Hrushovski and Loeser on motivic Milnor fibers, we give a model-theoretic proof for the motivic Thom–Sebastiani theorem in the case of regular functions. Moreover, slightly extending Hrushovski–Loeser’s construction adjusted to Sebag, Loeser and Nicaise’s motivic integration for formal schemes and rigid varieties, we formulate and prove an analogous result for formal functions. The latter is meaningful as it has been a crucial element of constructing Kontsevich–Soibelman’s theory of motivic Donaldson–Thomas invariants.

Abstract:
Aleksander Ścibor-Rylski was one of the greatest Polish scriptwriters, who in addition to numerous films based on his texts, left behind a trove of abandoned scripts. This article introduces Ścibor-Rylski as a highly versatile author, as exemplified by three scripts he wrote: Wczasy pod lipą [Lime Tree Holiday], Zaułek św. Sebastiana [Saint Sebastian Alley] and Stara baśń [An Ancient Tale]. A mentally healthy human being can go insane if suddenly diagnosed with leprosy. Eugen Ionescu finds out that even the “Ionescu” name, an indisputable Romanian father, and the fact of being born Christian can do nothing, nothing, nothing to cover the curse of having Jewish blood in his veins. With resignation and sometimes with I don't know what sad and discouraged pride, we got used to this dear leprosy a long time ago. With these words, the Romanian–Jewish writer Mihail Sebastian expresses within his private diary some of the darkest moments of a World War II “transfigured” Romania, populated
