Il 20 settembre 1918, un giovane cappuccino della provincia foggiana, padre Pio da Pietrelcina, riceveva sul proprio corpo, dopo aver recitato la messa mattutina, le stimmate della Passione di Cristo. Poco meno di un secolo piů tardi, il 16 giugno 2002, Giovanni Paolo II ne avrebbe proclamata la santitŕ, in una piazza San Pietro affollata da centinaia di migliaia di fedeli accorsi per l'affermazione della «santitŕ vissuta» piů invocata del Novecento cattolico italiano. «Alter Christus», «mistico da clinica psichiatrica», «piccolo chimico», santo e «idolo di stoppa»: l'articolo si propone, sulla scia del recente libro di Sergio Luzzatto, Padre Pio. Miracoli e politica nell'Italia del Novecento (Einaudi, Torino, 2007) di ripercorrere i momenti essenziali della biografia del frate con le stimmate nel contesto dell'Italia del XX secolo, approfondendo in particolare - anche a partire da materiali inediti - ''interazione tra l'esperienza mistica di padre Pio e l'immaginario, politico e religioso, degli italiani del suo tempo.

Abstract:
INTRODUZIONE: La crisi della professione infermieristica, in Italia, è reale sul piano sociale, professionale, economico ed istituzionale. Sotto molti aspetti, sembra che i problemi attuali rispecchino in buona parte quelli che erano presenti in Italia più di cent’anni fa. METODI: Dal 23 Dicembre 2022 al 23 Gennaio 2023 è stata condotta un’indagine trasversale online. Per rispondere al questionario è stato chiesto agli infermieri di valutare su scala likert da 1 (minimo) a 10 (massimo) il loro accordo con le 20 affermazioni presenti nel questionario, riferite al contesto infermieristico generale italiano. Il contenuto delle affermazioni corrispondeva ad alcune problematiche presenti nel contesto infermieristico italiano nel passaggio di secolo fra il 1800 ed il 1900. RISULTATI: Hanno partecipato all’indagine n.477 infermieri. Lo strumento utilizzato si è dimostrato valido e affidabile: l’analisi fattoriale esplorativa ha mostrato carichi sempre superiori al cutoff di Stevens e al cutoff convenzionale di 0.30, evidenziando l’esistenza dei 7 domini previsti in fase di costruzione dello strumento. La consistenza interna è risultata soddisfacente (omega globale=0.894). DISCUSSIONE/CONCLUSIONI: Dopo cent’anni, gli interventi istituzionali in direzione di una modernizzazione europea e globale della professione si fanno ancora attendere. É pur vero che l’autonomia professionale, delineata in diversi Stati europei già agli albori del 1900, nel nostro Paese è stata festeggiata solo nell’ultima decade del secolo scorso ma non siamo ora nelle condizioni di protrarre di un secolo l’attesa di un intervento concreto. L’abbandono professionale ha già mietuto ampiamente le sue vittime e, senza infermieri, è a rischio il sistema sanitario nella sua globalità.

Abstract:
Viene criticata la cornice teorica utilizzata da Griffin Hansbury (2017) nel trattamento del caso clinico da lui descritto. Nonostante la critica mossa al binarismo di genere, Hansbury di fatto amplia la teoria di Freud (1922, pp. 488-490) dell'«Io-corpo» introducendo un nuovo concetto binario, il «Vaginale con la V maiuscola» come «controparte simbolica del Fallico» [con la F maiuscola] (Hansbury, 2017 p. 20, p. 1010 ediz. orig.). Hansbury cerca di trascinare nel XXI secolo una teoria del XIX secolo radicata in presupposti antiquati riguardo alla identità di genere. Greenberg & Mitchell (1983, p. 61 trad. it.) chiamarono questo approccio teorico «strategia di accomodamento», per riferirsi ad autori che non mettono in discussione gli assunti di una determinata teoria ma la ampliano aggiungendo nuovi concetti. Viene discusso un esempio di strategia di accomodamento utilizzata nella riformulazione della teoria dell'omosessualità. A parte queste considerazioni, la capacità di Hansbury di accogliere le fantasie dei suoi pazienti su parti e funzioni sessuali del corpo crea uno spazio che permette di parlare anche di altri argomenti difficili. Facendo questo, mostra una mescolanza di tendenze sia conservatrici sia radicali nella teoria e nella clinica della psicoanalisi.

Abstract:
L’articolo si propone di delineare lo stato degli studi imagologici di frontiera analizzando due sistemi letterari che nascono e si sviluppano nello stesso luogo, ma in due lingue diverse: la letteratura italiana e quella slovena in una città che è l’emblema dell’incontro tra le due etnie, cioè Trieste. Dopo un’introduttiva riflessione metodologica sulle letterature comparate e sul metodo imagologico, verranno presi in considerazione soprattutto quegli autori triestini lungo tutto l’arco del 20° secolo che riflettono nelle loro opere letterarie l’incontro con il vicino, concittadino nella stessa città, ma di lingua e cultura diversa. Saranno messe in risalto alcune considerazioni di tipo storico-letterario che rispecchiano l’ambiente multiculturale di Trieste e il dialogo tra le sue due identità.

Abstract:
Storicamente, i primi casi di nidificazione di Cigno reale (<em>Cygnus olor)</em> in Italia sono stati accertati in Lombardia e Piemonte negli anni ‘60-’70 del secolo scorso, in seguito ad introduzioni iniziate negli anni ‘30-’40 nelle parti svizzere di alcuni laghi lombardi e continuate nei decenni successivi. La popolazione nidificante risulta attualmente concentrata nelle regioni settentrionali, dal Piemonte orientale alla fascia costiera alto-adriatica, dove si riproduce quasi il 90 % della popolazione nazionale; presenze più frammentate in Liguria, Trentino-Alto Adige, Toscana, Umbria, Lazio, Basilicata e Sardegna. All’inizio degli anni ‘80 del secolo scorso erano state stimate 20-35 coppie nidificanti in meno di 15 siti; di queste, l’80% si trovava in Piemonte e Lombardia. Le coppie sono aumentate a 25-45 nel 1987, poi a 300-500 nei primi anni del 2000, ed attualmente a 500-700 in oltre 150 siti, con un aumento di oltre il 900% rispetto ai valori iniziali. Questi dati confermano la fase di incremento ed espansione territoriale nota a livello europeo negli ultimi decenni. La colonizzazione di molti siti riproduttivi, localizzati in prevalenza nelle regioni settentrionali, è dovuta alla formazione di nuclei svernanti, cui fa seguito la formazione di coppie riproduttrici. Tale fenomeno ha interessato, seppur in misura più limitata, anche le regioni centro-meridionali, dove le osservazioni sono andate aumentando negli ultimi due decenni. Il Cigno reale nidifica a coppie isolate o localmente raggruppate in forma coloniale in zone umide naturali o artificiali, anche di modesta estensione, preferibilmente dal livello del mare fino a 300 m, con un’altitudine massima di 970 m s.l.m., rilevata in Trentino.

L'immagine letteraria di Napoli, "Capitale del Sud", che vede periodiche alternanze di crisi e splendore nelle arti, è sicuramente dicotomica: da un lato il locus amoenus in cui fiorisce l'inventiva e diverse tradizioni culturali si intersecano e convivono; dall'altro, il luogo simbolico di immense disparità sociali, uno scoppio di epidemie e la culla di una mentalità rilassata e reazionaria. L'immagine usata da Benedetto Croce per definire la città, "un paradiso abitato dai diavoli", risale al Medioevo, e viene negata di volta in volta dagli autori che intendono costruire un mito positivo di napoletanità, ma già agli inizi 20° secolo, e quindi soprattutto nel periodo dal 1943 (ai giorni nostri), ci sono accenti sempre più critici nei confronti di questa immagine, che risultano - più che nell'odio o nel disprezzo per la città e i suoi abitanti - nella tendenza ad allontanarsi da Napoli, per abbandonare una realtà contraddittoria che non risolve i suoi problemi, ma come una foresta vergine ricresce distruggendo ogni elemento del progresso. IntroduzioneIn questo lavoro discuterò un aspetto dell'opera di Stein Rokkan che ha prodotto un'ondata di recenti pubblicazioni e di cui io stesso mi sono occupato. Mi riferisco al ruolo deicleavagesnella politica dell'Europa occidentale contemporanea. Le principali argomentazioni del grande scienziato politico norvegese sulle strutture di conflitto nelle società dell'Europa occidentale e sulla loro trasposizione in sistemi partitici sono state proposte nel famoso saggioCleavage Structures, Party Systems, and Voting Alignmentsche Rokkan scrisse con Seymour M. Lipset (Lipset e Rokkan 1967). La sua idea consisteva nel collegare le configurazioni dei sistemi partitici europei contemporanei alle divisioni sociali e culturali che caratterizzavano le società europee all'epoca della formazione dei sistemi partitici, nella seconda metà del diciannovesimo secolo. Quando emerse la politica democratica, queste divisioni tradizionali opponevano principalmente gruppi sociali definiti in termini di religione, classe, unità territoriale ed etnia. Come è noto, Lipset e Rokkan sostennero che queste divisioni tradizionali erano state politicamente «congelate» e che, all'epoca in cui scrivevano (1967), i sistemi partitici europei riflettevano ancora la struttura delle divisioni della società che era esistita nei primi anni '20, quando le masse popolari avevano fatto il loro ingresso nella politica democratica.

Abstract:
This paper aims at presenting some health maps of a historical population. The studies on the health status of past populations are usually focused on the causes of death. Our purpose is to present some descriptive analyses on non-deadly diseases. The present work focuses on the province of Friuli (north-eastern Italy) in the second half of the nineteenth century. The used sources are military call-up records. We collected about 300,000 records relative to military recruitment that took place between 1866 and 1909 (birth cohorts 1846-1890). Our main concern was the health status of the 20-year male population, and its association with environmental, socio economic and genetic factors. Generally speaking, we observe that the northern mountain area was the most advantaged, while young adults from the eastern and western parts of the province were the most disadvantaged. A lot of factors and causes contributed to determine the spatial distribution of specific diseases in Friuli, whilst others remain unknown because simple descriptive analyses are not sufficient to highlight them all. In particular, the distribution of the thyroidal hypertrophy was almost certainly due to the water quality, while the distribution of dental caries was probably related to genetic and dietary factors.

Abstract:
At the end of the nineteenth century many Western artists were fascinated and influenced by Oriental and, in particular, by Japanese art. That tendency, called Japonisme, began with the Universal Exposition of London in 1851, where Chinese and Japanese art was introduced with great success. Japonisme spread easily across West, charming it. It extended soon to literature, poetry and theatre. American and European artists found in Oriental art, culture and tradition a suitable means for the renewal of their artistic expression. Why Western art was not suitable to outline its expressions anymore? Why artists felt the need to find their renewal of the forms in Japan’s traditions? This is what my research is about. Through the literary, poetic and theatrical productions of Ernest Fenollosa, Ezra Pound and William Butler Yeats, I intend to draw a critical path paying attention to the cultural, theoretical and textual reasons. They devoted their artistic life to the search for a renewal of the contemporary poetic form by means of the discovery of Oriental and mainly Japanese culture

Abstract:
La ricerca si propone di indagare la figura di Mario Labò (1884-1961), architetto-progettista, attento mediatore culturale impegnato negli studi storiografici, nella critica dell’arte, nella politica e protagonista dell’avanguardia razionalista. Si intende definirne il profilo culturale eseguendo una lettura critica e consapevole delle numerose fonti scritte, dell’opera progettuale, studiando i rapporti intrapresi con i contesti nazionali e internazionali delle avanguardie culturali di inizio Novecento. La ricerca vuole raccontare, attraverso l’attenta analisi delle fonti di archivio e lo studio approfondito dell’opera culturale di Mario Labò, le prime sei decadi del XX secolo. Inoltre, l’obbiettivo di questa tesi è quello di fornire un primo contributo sugli elementi compositivi della sua architettura in rapporto agli anni della formazione e agli scritti da lui prodotti.
The research aims at exploring the activity of Mario Labò (1884-1961), architect, designer, cultural mediator, representative of the rationalist avant-garde, committed in historiographical studies, art criticism and politics. The objective is to define his cultural profile through a critical reading of the numerous written sources, to study his architectural works and the relationships established with the cultural national and international avant-garde of the beginning of the 20th century. The current bibliography and the limited number of studied carried on Mario Labò are insufficient to point out the importance of his architectural production and, above all, of Labò himself as “man of culture”, with his relationships and his active role in the dialogue with other representatives of modern architecture. The research wants to describe the first six decades of the 20th century through a detailed analysis of Labò’s archives and cultural works.

Abstract:
La ricerca si propone di approfondire la formazione degli studenti di lingua greca provenienti dalle aree sotto il dominio ottomano e dalle aree sotto il vessillo di Venezia, che durante la prima metà del XVII secolo si recarono a Padova per seguire un percorso di studio universitario. In particolare, attraverso la ricostruzione delle vicende storiche di due collegi per studenti aperti nel periodo in esame a solo beneficio della Natio Graeca, il collegio Paleocapa (dal 1633) e il collegio Cottunio (dal 1653), si intende mettere a fuoco la presenza di tali giovani nel territorio padovano e analizzare da un lato l’apporto della loro attività negli ambienti intellettuali di inizio Seicento, e dall’altro il significato e l’importanza che la formazione ricevuta a Padova ebbero nel consolidamento della loro coscienza nazionale. Si propone inoltre, nel terzo capitolo, l’approfondimento della figura del fondatore di uno dei due collegi, Giovanni Cottunio (1572-1657), esponente intellettuale di spicco del movimento noto come “umanesimo greco”, sorto nell’ambito della diaspora ellenica durante gli anni del dominio turco. Attraverso la sistematica integrazione dei contributi di studiosi greci sull’argomento con altre opere di storia locale e letteraria si cerca di inserire effettivamente la figura di Giovanni Cottunio all’interno del contesto padovano, analizzando ad esempio la sua presenza nel carteggio galileiano e commentando per la prima volta il suo diario o “foglio di mano”. Infine, nell’ultimo capitolo, si propone un’analisi delle raccolte poetiche in onore di Giovanni Cottunio: Immortalitati Alcidi Philelleni e Palladys Lacrimae, parzialmente inedite. Mettendo in relazione tali raccolte con altri brevi testi relativi a Giovanni Cottunio e richiamandosi ai nomi presenti sul suo diario, è possibile rilevare il grado di apprezzamento di Cottunio come benefattore dei greci, come professore universitario e come collaboratore attivo alla causa della “Grecia” occupata.

La tesi di dottorato ha come obiettivo principale l'indagine sull'arrivo e sulla diffusione della miniatura nella regione di Cilicia a partire dal XII secolo attraverso un'analisi stilistica e comparativa delle principali opere artistiche di questo periodo, ovvero i manoscritti Erevan, Matenadaran 7347; Washington D.C., Freer Art Gallery 50,3; Venezia, San Lazzaro 1635; Baltimora, Walters Art Gallery 538; Varsavia, Biblioteka Narodowa, Akc. 17680. Questi cinque Vangeli sono i più lussuosi e caratteristici della seconda metà del XII secolo e talvolta hanno strette somiglianze con gli altri manoscritti meno importanti. L'analisi visiva diretta mi ha dato l'opportunità di raccogliere molti dettagli non visibili dalle riproduzioni fotografiche e di redigere schede tecniche complete. In generale, la storia dell'arte della Cilicia è una successione di molte scoperte che hanno migliorato la visione della gamma espressiva della miniatura armena. Le nuove opportunità hanno dato agli artisti occasioni di esaminare manoscritti occidentali, e questa influenza artistica ha trasformato l'arte manoscritta armena. Ad esempio, la scoperta che uccelli, pesci ed esseri umani possono essere usati per formare le lettere dell'alfabeto è un'influenza dall'Occidente. Sebbene gli armeni si siano trovati in un mondo cosmopolita, la base ideologica e iconografica rimane invariata e una continuità radicale attraverso i secoli è quindi verificabile ed innegabile. Tre indici fondamentali lo dimostrano con assoluta certezza: la mobilità degli artisti tra l'Armenia e la Cilicia (incluso il miniatore Kozma, autore di Matenadaran 7347); la presenza di manoscritti dell'undicesimo secolo in Cilicia e l'uso della stessa tecnica pittorica e della stessa tavolozza di colori. La storia degli studi sui Vangeli cilici del XII secolo si limita principalmente ad alcune pubblicazioni generali di alcuni grandi studiosi (come Sirarpie Der Nersessian, Helen Evans, Viktor Lazarev).
The doctoral thesis has for main objective the investigation on the arrival and the diffusion of the miniature in the Cilician region from the 12th century through a stylistic and comparative analysis of the main artistic works of this period, or the manuscripts Yerevan, Matenadaran 7347; Washington DC, Freer Art Gallery 50.3; Venice, St Lazarus 1635; Baltimore, Walters Art Gallery 538; Warsaw, Biblioteka Narodowa, Akc. 17680. These five Gospels are the most luxurious and characteristic of the second half of the Twelfth century and sometimes they have close similarities with the other less important manuscripts. Direct visual analysis gave me the opportunity to collect many details not visible by photographic reproductions, and to establish completes datasheets. In general, the art history of Cilicia is a succession of many discoveries that have improved the vision of the expressive range of the Armenian miniature. The new opportunities have given occasions to the artists to examine manuscripts from the West, and this artistic influence has transformed the Armenian manuscript art. For example, the discovery that birds, fish and humans can be used to form the letters of the alphabet is an Armenian debt to the West. Although Armenians have found themselves in a cosmopolitan world, the ideological and iconographic base remains unchanged, and a radical continuity through the centuries is therefore verifiable and undeniable. Three fundamental indices prove it with absolute certainty: the mobility of the artists between Armenia and Cilicia (including the miniaturist Kozma, author of Matenadaran 7347); the presence of eleventh century manuscripts in Cilicia and the use of the same pictorial technique and the same color palette. The history of studies about the Cilician Gospels of the twelfth century is mainly limited to some general publications of some great scholars (such as Sirarpie Der Nersessian, Helen Evans, Viktor Lazarev).

Questo elaborato parte dalla volontà di approfondire i fattori non solo socioeconomici, ma più ampiamente umani, che si manifestano nei processi di trasmissione, ricezione e assimilazione di esperienze culturali e prodotti creativi stranieri. Il focus tematico è intorno al significato del processo di glocalizzazione della musica giapponese contemporanea, intesa come ri-assimilazione culturale di elementi globali – provenienti da ambienti esterni ad un dato sistema culturale – in specifici contesti locali. Al fine di realizzare l’obiettivo prefissato, è stato ritenuto opportuno selezionare due casi di studio su cui condurre delle indagini di tipo qualitativo. L’elaborato è composto da quattro capitoli. Il primo si prepone di definire l’oggetto in sé della ricerca, ossia la musica giapponese. Nel secondo capitolo si cerca di definire quali siano quei processi che entrano in gioco quando la musica, intesa come prodotti creativi e esperienze di consumo, varca i confini nazionali per approdare in mercati esteri. Il terzo capitolo è più propriamente volto a definire in maniera puntuale la metodologia di ricerca adottata e gli obiettivi prefissati, presentando la domanda di ricerca. Si cercherà di fare questo attraverso la presentazione di due casi di studio. Infine, il quarto capitolo chiude l’opera con l’elaborazione dei dati raccolti dalle interviste alla luce delle fonti teoriche utilizzate per costruire i primi due capitoli. Il fine ultimo è quello di trovare una propria personale risposta alla domanda di ricerca presentata, la quale verrà elaborata nelle Conclusioni.

Ιl libro traccia il percorso di una famiglia nobile veneta di origine greca, il suo avventuroso viaggio, passato e presente, verso i focolai dell'ellenismo, dalla Russia a Venezia. Per la diaspora greca, dopo la conquista ottomana di Costantinopoli e via via di tutti i domini veneziani nel mediterraneo, Venezia ha rappresentato un'altra patria. Prendendo spunto da queste vicende si delineano, nel primo capitolo della tesi, i motivi storici e geopolitici che mossero un flusso di intellettuali greci e non solo ad approdare in Italia, in particolare a Venezia. La comunità greca costituitasi man mano nel corso degli anni si è integrata nel tessuto sociale e culturale della città e ha contributo alla diffusione del pensiero umanista e della cultura classica, nonché al risveglio culturale dell’ellenismo soggiogato. Nel secondo capitolo viene svolta la traduzione dall'italiano al neogreco di alcuni capitoli del libro con testo a fronte, esattamente i capitoli 1, 2, e 3 con relativo commento delle maggiori difficoltà incontrate nel processo di traduzione. Il terzo capitolo, dopo una breve biografia dell’autore e delle sue opere, lascia spazio alla proposta editoriale vera e propria che comprende una rassegna delle recensioni e critiche del libro e i motivi della promozione e pubblicazione dell’opera nel mercato greco.

La tesis doctoral aquí propuesta abarca los últimos treinta años de dramaturgia chilena, a partir del 11 de septiembre de 1973, inicio del golpe de estado encabezado por las fuerzas armadas del general Augusto Pinochet, hasta 2006. El estudio no se limita históricamente a los años de dictadura (1973-1990), ni se concluye con el período de transición democrática (1990-2000); más bien, termina con la muerte de Pinochet (10 de diciembre de 2006), en cuanto símbolo para la colectividad de una fin moral y física de la dictadura y de su victimario, y en cuanto pasaje ya no transitorio, sino efectivo a la democracia, con la nómina a Presidenta de Chile a Michelle Bachelet el 11 de marzo de 2006. Desde el punto de vista dramatúrgico, además, la tesis finaliza con la primera década del siglo XXI, evitando de tomar en consideración sólo a las generaciones de dramaturgos protagonistas bajo el régimen militar, del golpe a la transición, e incluyendo así a una nueva generación de dramaturgos, formados alrededor de los años noventa, quienes de la dictadura tal vez sólo habían oído hablar durante su infancia, y cuyas líneas de investigación van rumbo a la multimedialidad y a la post −tal vez ya ‘trans’− modernidad escénica, pero cuyas obras revelan una herencia muy sutil con las generaciones anteriores, basada no tanto en temáticas o estéticas dramáticas, sino en la constante alusión a la memoria. El fin de este trabajo, pues, es recorrer estos treinta años de producción dramática en Chile, enfocando la memoria como eje central del análisis, que resulta marcar febrilmente tanto la actividad dramática chilena desde los primeros años postgolpe como la más inminente actualidad. Una memoria que puede ser histórica, personal o colectiva, metaforizada o explícita, pero siempre reivindicada porque negada y olvidada; una memoria ofuscada por más de tres décadas, que no ha podido ser reelaborada ni comprendida porque no verbalizada ni expresada. Una memoria que hasta hoy en día sigue saliendo a la luz en las nuevas generaciones, tal vez de manera inconsciente e implícita, para reivindicar sí misma y el derecho a hablar.

Field or second quantization is carried through for electromagnetism, giving creation and annihilation operators for photons. Vacuum energy arises from field fluctuations, which causes the Casimir force and the Lamb shift of spectral lines. The connection between absorption, spontaneous emission and the stimulated emission of radiation is shown to emerge naturally. This yields Einstein’s equations for radiation in thermal equilibrium. The prerequisites for lasing, the operation and the properties of lasers are described. Fully coherent (Laser) states are expressed in terms of Fock states. The first and second order coherence of lasers and thermal sources are worked out. The Hanbury Brown and Twiss experiment is described and the application of the principle to determining stellar sizes and interaction regions in particle collisions from meson correlations are described.

La Ciudad Vieja, ha rappresentato per secoli il centro funzionale, abitativo e commerciale della città di Montevideo, eppure nel corso dell’ultimo secolo ha subito molte trasformazioni che ne hanno mutato sia il volto urbano che la composizione sociale. Risulta infatti essere il barrio Montevideano con il maggior calo di abitanti (circa il 20%) e la causa principale di tale fenomeno è imputabile alla localizzazione del porto commerciale nella baia e al conseguente svilupparsi in loco dei servizi legati all’attività di quest'ultimo, che hanno trasformato l'antico centro storico in un “barrio portuale”. Lentamente la Ciudad Vieja si svuota e si classifica come luogo pericoloso e degradato agli occhi dei suoi abitanti, che se ne allontanano attratti da abitazioni più comode e tranquille sul bordo dell'oceano. A questo flusso di popolazione in fuga, se ne affianca uno contrario, invisibile, composto dal ceto più povero, il quale in cerca di un rifugio, è attratto dallo stock abitativo disponibile e abbandonato che occupa illegalmente e dalle possibilità di lavoro offerte dal vicino porto. Il volto della Ciudad Vieja cambia ancora, e il degrado urbano delle vie, corrisponde al peggioramento delle condizioni di vita dei suoi nuovi abitanti, i quali vivono in totale assenza di regole igieniche, in condizioni di sovraffollamento, privi di acqua e luce. Nonostante negli ultimi anni le amministrazioni si siano occupate del degrado urbano e sociale presente nella zona, le proposte di rilancio pensate, limitate al recupero di alcune facciate o alla pedonalizzazione di alcune vie, son fallite miseramente e il fenomeno non è stato arginato, mentre l'auspicata partecipazione di investitori privati non ha mai avuto seguito. For centuries the Ciudad Vieja was the functional, residential and commercial centre of the city of Montevideo, however over the past century it has undergone many transformations, which have changed its urban essence and its social composition. It has been shown to be the barrio in Montevideo with the highest population decline (about 20 %). Such phenomenon may be attributed to the position of the commercial port in the bay and to the consequent development of activities linked to the port, which have transformed the old town centre into a "port barrio". The Ciudad Vieja slowly emptied and it was seen as dangerous and degraded by its inhabitants, who went away from it attracted by more comfortable and quiet homes by the ocean. Another flow contrasted that of the fleeding population: it was made up of the lower class in search for refuge, attracted by the vacant and abandoned homes, which it occupied illegally, and by work opportunities offered by the nearby port. The essence of the Ciudad Vieja changed once again and the urban decay of the streets was equivalent to the worstening of the living conditions of its new inhabitants, who live without sanitation rules, in overcrowded conditions and without running water and electricity. Although in recent years administrations have dealt with the area's urban and social decay, the proposed solutions, limited to the reclamation of a few facades and to the pedestrianisation of some streets, have failed miserably and the phenomenon hasn't been contained, while private investors have never participated.

The financial losses caused by COVID-19 are extraordinary in scope and have affected every facet of the small business ecosystem. For entrepreneurs, recovery from the pandemic has similarly required extraordinary levels of assistance. We assess the connection between COVID-19 grant and loan emergency interventions with a variety of positive community economic development impacts. Our analysis draws from a survey of aid recipients across ten COVID-19 relief programs offered or administered by Carolina Small Business Development Fund between February 2020 and February 2022. The data highlight three main findings. First, while the pandemic’s economic damage was high across all underprivileged communities, in many cases the harms disproportionately accrued to Black-owned firms. Second, the results show that grant initiatives are better for short-term financial stability and are likely to position recipients for future financing opportunities. Finally, disaster loans are favored for outcomes related to higher employment retention and a creating a more favorable business sentiment outlook.

The 2019 report presents trends and current information on selected measures of morbidity, mortality, health care utilization and access, health risk factors, prevention, health insurance, and personal health care expenditures in a 20-figure chartbook. The Health, United States, 2019 Chartbook is supplemented by several other products including Trend Tables, an At-a-Glance table, and Appendixes available for download on the Health, United States website at: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/hus/ index.htm. The Health, United States, 2019 Chartbook contains 20 figures and 20 tables on health and health care in the United States. Examining trends in health informs the development, implementation, and evaluation of health policies and programs. The first section (Figures 1–13) focuses on health status and determinants: life expectancy, infant mortality, selected causes of death, overdose deaths, suicide, maternal mortality, teen births, preterm births, use of tobacco products, asthma, hypertension, heart disease and cancer, and functional limitations. The second section (Figures 14–15) presents trends in health care utilization: use of mammography and colorectal tests and unmet medical needs. The third section (Figures 16–17) focuses on health care resources: availability of physicians and dentists. The fourth section (Figures 18–20) describes trends in personal health care expenditures, health insurance coverage, and supplemental insurance coverage among Medicare beneficiaries. In response to COVID-19, the Government of Zimbabwe enforced a nationwide lockdown on 30 March 2020, closing most sectors of the economy, including informal markets. However, with limited cases, lockdown movement restrictions were eased and supermarkets, restaurants and vegetable markets allowed to reopen. Between 3-13 October 2020, a second-round (R2) of surveys was conducted, targeting farming communities in Mvurwi and Concession Areas of Mazowe District, to assess COVID-19 impacts on food production systems, supply chains and general livelihoods. This report summarises insights obtained from the phone-based survey, covering 102 respondents (20 female and 82 male-headed households), and 5 local key informants (councillors and extension officers). Results are compared to the earlier R1 survey carried out in late June/early July.

Abstract:
In 2015, the Natural Sounds and Night Skies Division (NSNSD) received a request to collect baseline acoustical data at Mesa Verde National Park (MEVE). Between July and August 2015, as well as February and March 2016, three acoustical monitoring systems were deployed throughout the park, however one site (MEVE002) stopped recording after a couple days during the summer due to wildlife interference. The goal of the study was to establish a baseline soundscape inventory of backcountry and frontcountry sites within the park. This inventory will be used to establish indicators and thresholds of soundscape quality that will support the park and NSNSD in developing a comprehensive approach to protecting the acoustic environment through soundscape management planning. Additionally, results of this study will help the park identify major sources of noise within the park, as well as provide a baseline understanding of the acoustical environment as a whole for use in potential future comparative studies. In this deployment, sound pressure level (SPL) was measured continuously every second by a calibrated sound level meter. Other equipment included an anemometer to collect wind speed and a digital audio recorder collecting continuous recordings to document sound sources. In this document, “sound pressure level” refers to broadband (12.5 Hz–20 kHz), A-weighted, 1-second time averaged sound level (LAeq, 1s), and hereafter referred to as “sound level.” Sound levels are measured on a logarithmic scale relative to the reference sound pressure for atmospheric sources, 20 μPa. The logarithmic scale is a useful way to express the wide range of sound pressures perceived by the human ear. Sound levels are reported in decibels (dB). A-weighting is applied to sound levels in order to account for the response of the human ear (Harris, 1998). To approximate human hearing sensitivity, A-weighting discounts sounds below 1 kHz and above 6 kHz. Trained technicians calculated time audible metrics after monitoring was complete. See Methods section for protocol details, equipment specifications, and metric calculations. Median existing (LA50) and natural ambient (LAnat) metrics are also reported for daytime (7:00–19:00) and nighttime (19:00–7:00). Prominent noise sources at the two backcountry sites (MEVE001 and MEVE002) included vehicles and aircraft, while building and vehicle predominated at the frontcountry site (MEVE003). Table 1 displays time audible values for each of these noise sources during the monitoring period, as well as ambient sound levels. In determining the current conditions of an acoustical environment, it is informative to examine how often sound levels exceed certain values. Table 2 reports the percent of time that measured levels at the three monitoring locations were above four key values.

Abstract:
The paper is tended to investigate the gamification activities use in educational electronic environment of maritime higher education institutions. Gamification methods with examples are described (gamification testing, QR Code quest, storytelling and escape room). Comparative characteristic of traditional learning and learning using gamification in educational electronic environment is given in the article according to different criteria: the place and role of teacher or students in the learning process; type of information communication; methods of training; equipment; level of freedom of the actions; presence of the problems in educational process; level of its control and learning outcomes. The paper also presents examples of gamification activities based on escape room quest to form communicative competency of future maritime professionals. Escape room activity presented in the article contains storytelling element, crossword and electronic testing questions of different types. Question types listed in the paper are Drag and drop to the text, Short answer and Multiple choice. Escape room activity was done by second year cadets of Kherson State Maritime Academy. According to the received results, knowledge quality increased by 10% and success by 20%. Further investigation of gamification activities can also be done for learning system of maritime higher education institutions using simulation technologies of virtual, augmented and mixed realities.

Abstract:
Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant Peoples, and local communities produce up to 70 percent of the world’s food with lower climate change and environmental impact than agribusinesses, but many remain under the poverty threshold. They are the de facto owners and managers of massive carbon stocks in forested and non–forested ecosystems, but markets fail to fairly reward this. This is all achieved with these communities having legal rights over only 20 percent of their land and receiving only 1.7 percent of global climate finance for self–determined investment and nature conservation. Clarifying their rights and establishing solid tenure security and capital to invest in exercising those rights are a must. The need for Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant Peoples, and local communities to acquire secure tenure over land and resources to achieve conservation and production goals is twofold. First, these groups need to establish a tenure safety network over their claimed lands and resources to prevent unintended consequences, like spillovers and leakages from other global responses to climate change, environmental rehabilitation, and food systems transformation. Second, they want secure tenure as part of a more enabling environment to fully unlock the potential of delivering their own solutions to current systems, threats, and opportunities.
