Abstract:
The article discusses the features of the manifestation of volitional qualities in high school students when performing tasks in the form of test exercises of a different nature. Based on the analysis of scientific and research work on the formation and development of volitional qualities, studies of the mid-education school, studies have been conducted by studies to identify the level of evidence in the performance of test exercises in the lessons of physical education. As test exercises, the researcher took and carried out: holding a dumbbell in front of him (for a while) with an outstretched arm (static mode of operation), work with a dumbbell for biceps with a strong arm for the number of times (dynamic mode of operation), breath holding test (for time). Tables of measurements of volitional component indices were compiled for students with different levels of motor activity (LMA) when performing tasks of a different nature. Indicators of the level of manifestation of volitional qualities of senior pupils in the experiment were assessed by the method of E.P. Shcherbakov.

Abstract:
School students need clear boundaries: boundaries that adults - parents as well as teachers - must set. We cannot abdicate our responsibility when students move outside those boundaries. To do that is to betray children, because the consequences of bad behaviour are so damaging It is the duty of the parents and teachers to create disciplinary awareness. The study aimed to examine the disciplinary awareness among secondary school students. The investigator adopted survey method to study the disciplinary awareness among school students. For this study a sample of 300 school students from 5 Govt and Private schools which are situated in and around Udumalpet town of Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu were selected by the investigator using simple random sampling technique. The findings reveal that 28.33% of the school students belong to low level of disciplinary awareness, 43.66% of school students the belong to moderate level of disciplinary awareness, 28% of school students belong to high level of disciplinary awareness. Also it is found that there is a significant difference in attitude towards disciplinary awareness between male and female among school students. Females possess better disciplinary awareness than male students.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to determining the structure of information competence of high school students. The development and application of modern information and communication technologies in all spheres of science, technology, education and industry at the present stage of integration development has influenced changes in the education system. The process of informatization of education is largely determined by the level of competence of students in the field of information and communication technologies. In this regard, teaching students who are able to use their knowledge in production with the use of new information technologies is a top priority for secondary schools. Comparing different approaches to this phenomenon, the authors try to find common elements in different classifications in order to propose a structure of information competence of high school students.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the level of development of learning strategies in high school students with respect to the age of students and type of high school they attend. We tried to answer the question of whether the years spent in school educate students to strategic approach to learning. The study sample consisted of students of the first and third grade students from three high schools in Tuzla, which are: Gymnasium "Mesa Selimović”, Secondary Commercial School and students of apprenticeships from the Mixed Secondary Technical School, a total of 731 students. Instruments used in this research are Scaler Learning Strategies (SUS) from 2009, by Nenad Suzić. The results showed that 85% of students while learning do not to use any strategy, and that first-grade students had a significantly higher level of development of learning strategies in relation to students of the third grade. This data is not encouraging and tells us that schools put little work into educating students to strategic approach to learning. The study found that answers of students with regard to the type of high school differ significantly on the general score of the SUS-scaler and all its subtests. Based on the arithmetic mean heights, it was found that students of apprenticeships achieved significantly lower values on the general score of the SUS-scaler compared to students of Gymnasium and Secondary Commercial School. Key words: learning strategies, high school students, learning to learn, type of high school.

Abstract:
Reading habits are an essential aspect for creating a functionally literate society and for its positioning at the global level. In this regard, the aim of this paper is to examine quantities and contents that high school students read, including compulsory reading and other books that do not belong to this corpus. We also tried to examine students? opinions about ways that could contribute to their motivation to read books, to consider their reading habits keeping in mind the family context and the use of library services, as well as to determine whether reading books is related to gender, academic achievement, the type of school that the students attend, the class and the education of their parents. Students (N=1378) from high schools and secondary vocational schools from several cities in Serbia participated in the research. A questionnaire was used, constructed for the purposes of this study. The results show that adolescents are reluctant to read reading materials contained in the curriculum. The majority of students read books outside of this corpus, and they most often read comics, science fiction, crime and romance novels. More than one fifth of students do not recognise any way that would motivate them to read books. Since there has been no visible improvement in this area in teaching practice over the last decade, it would be desirable to introduce and affirm optional subjects that would contribute to improving the reading habits of high school students (especially in secondary vocational schools).

Abstract:

Education and training in schools are essential elements in the development and socialization process of children from early childhood. The fact of considering health as a complete physical, mental and social wellbeing (World Health Organization (1848), WHO), and not only as the absence of illness, is closely related to the achievement of optimal levels of promotion and improvement in the quality of life and school performance in children. This research, carried out during the 2014-2015 academic year, attempts to analyze the ideas and attitudes of Compulsory Secondary Education (12 to 16 years old; compulsory) and High School (16 to 18 years; non-compulsory) students as regards health promotion in the school context. In order to perform this analysis, an ad hoc questionnaire was developed for 2337 students from the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain) and 15 follow-up interviews about the students’ answers to emergency situations in the school context were also carried out. Both questionnaire and interviews revealed the existence of unhealthy habits related to the level of education, gender and health training of the students’ parents. The results show that the “Questionnaire about attitudes and knowledge as regards health in the school context” (CACOSA) has been an adequate instrument to detect both important training needs and a lack of responsiveness to emergencies in secondary education schools as regards health education.

The article has critically assessed the information sent to the public, including teachers, on the results of external examinations contained in the Central Examination Board (CEB) reports. Basing on the analysis of two sources of information decoded from the CEB reports and the analysis of the database containing the results of examinations, 93% of lower secondary school students, it has been showed that about half of the population "failed" the lower secondary school exam in science and mathematics. Therefore they should not continue their high school education. The analysis of data decoded from the CEB report is in line with the results obtained from 93% of students. Therefore, it is advisable to conduct similar analyzes of contemporary CEB reports on students achievement after the new primary school which is operating in the new education system after liquidation of junior high schools.

Abstract:
Need for cognition (NFC) reflects a relatively stable trait regarding the degree to which one enjoys and engages in cognitive endeavors. We examined whether the previously demonstrated one-dimensional structure of the German NFC Scale could be replicated in three samples of undergraduates and secondary school students. Moreover, we investigated the test-retest reliability of the German NFC Scale, which has not yet been tested. Further, we investigated whether the scale would be valid in a sample of secondary school students. Multigroup confirmatory factor analyses established the one-dimensional factor structure of the long form as well as the short form of the German NFC Scale for undergraduates (N = 559), students of academic track secondary schools (German Gymnasium; N = 555), and students of vocational track secondary schools (German Realschule; N = 486). The scale proved to have a high test-retest reliability in a university student sample (N = 43). For secondary school students, we again found a high test-retest reliability (N = 157), and also found the scale to be valid (N = 181).

Abstract:
The development of healthy eating habits in adolescence is perceived as an effective strategy to avoid health problems in adulthood. The involvement of educational centres’ governing boards, as well as the Educational State and Regional Administrations’, may be necessary to create healthy food environments during the school day. The objective of this study is to identify the relationship between students’ eating habits during the school day and sociodemographic, family and physical activity variables, as well as the existence of a school cafeteria. For this, a cross-sectional study in a stratified random sample of 8068 students of Public Secondary Education High Schools of Andalusia (Spain) has been carried out. The results show that students who are 14 years old or older are more likely to skip breakfast at home (odds ratio (OR): 1.81, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.55–2.12) than those under this age. Students whose mothers do not have a university education are more likely to consume incomplete breakfasts (OR: 1.83, 95% CI: 1.26–2.65). Snacks with sweets (OR: 1.93, 95% CI: 1.67–2.23), candy in general (OR: 2.75, 95% CI: 2.38–3.19), and bagged crisps (OR: 3.06, 95% CI: 2.65–3.54) were more likely to be consumed in schools with a cafeteria. The factors that significantly influence the eating habits of secondary students in Andalusia include age, sex, parental level of education, physical activity and the existence of a cafeteria.

Abstract:
Bringing out the misconceptions is a primordial process in teaching and the learning of biology. This article aims to highlight Moroccan students' alternative conceptions, regarding animal and to elicit their ability to classify some animals. Data was collected using the Animal Classification Test (ACT) distributed at the Moroccan secondary school at the Tangier-Tetouan regional Academy of Education And Training. The results obtained showed that students have real obstacles to classify even most known animals (goose, butterfly, crocodile, etc.). These obstacles are often misconceptions and were poorly treated and reformulated by the teaching-learning process. In fact, many students used “non-taxonomic” criteria, such as habitat and locomotion to classify animals even after learning the categories of the biological taxonomy. In addition, this article finds that high school students have almost the same alternative conceptions about animal classification as the intermediate secondary school. This result confirmed that alternative conceptions are more resistant to change and persist anchored on student's mind even after teaching-learning sequences.

AbstractBully-victim problems at school may have negative effects on students' mental health. Adolescents (N = 845) attending schools in South Australia anonymously answered questionnaires that included a measure of suicidal ideation. Student involvement in bully-victim problems at school and the emotional reaction to being viaimised by peers were also examined. Self-report but not peer nomination indicated that high levels of peer victimisation and relatively ineffective coping responses were independently and significantly associated with suicidal ideation. Implications for school policies and practices to address the issue of youth suicide are discussed.

Abstract:
AbstractSchool satisfaction is a key indicator of education quality in addition to academic achievement and student’s coping efficacy, as well as an important factor to prevent school dropout. The primary aim of this study was to investigate how high-school students’ school identification and self-efficacy were associated with school satisfaction. The study included controls for gender, education programme and parental education level. A self-report questionnaire was administered to high-school students at three upper secondary schools in Norway. The sample included 794 first year students. No respondents refrained from participating in the study. Most of the students in the study were satisfied with school. The current study underscores the importance of school identification. School identification was found to be more important for the students’ school satisfaction than self-efficacy. Moreover, according to the results, teachers’ social identity leadership appears to play an important role in students’ school satisfaction. The findings imply that the teachers’ social identity leadership is imperative in classroom management.

The goal of this research is to investigate schools’ policy of using a mobile phone at schools from the perspective of secondary school students in Indonesia. It happens to be a long debate involving educators in Indonesia on whether or not the use of smartphone can be allowed in schools. So far, all we hear is the perspectives of teachers and schools’ administrators regarding the ban but never from the students, even though the students are the subject of these debates. This research is conducted in order to investigate, as well as to give the opportunity for students’ to voice their opinion, point of views, and perspectives toward the issue of banning smartphone use at schools. The data of this research was collected through online survey aimed at secondary schools’ students in Gorontalo, Indonesia. There are 250 students from 5 high schools have responded to the online surveys. The result shows that even though students mostly believe that the use of smartphone should be integrated into teaching and learning process, an appropriate policy of using it at school should be designed in order to get rid of the negative impact cause by it, and to maximize the use of it as a sophisticated resource to help students learn better at school.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the formation of interpretation skills in high-school students and teaching the notions of interpretation with the purpose of obtaining interpretation competence. There were presented didactic principles of translation teaching during English lessons. We emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of translation training, as well as highlighting effective principles that should be applied for methodical reasons. The main task of the teacher at the initial stage of studying translation can be defined − teaching students to distinguish and identify structured elements of translation, the reasons for their use and the ability to operate the components of interpretation. Particular attention is given to the formation and development of the interpreter's skills. The main task of the teacher was defined and a set of exercises was developed. The four stages for the formation a competent specialist lead to obtaining special interpreter's skills in accordance with international and economical needs in the contemporary labor market. The teacher has to teach student that interpreter has to be an active translator of the communication act between the sender of the message and its recipient. Interpreting competence implies the ability of the translator to use target-processing strategies that can be targeted. The results of the implementation of the proposed exercises involve the creation of a situation in the English lesson that would clearly reproduce the realities of a modern, competitive interpreter.

PurposeBreastfeeding education in the school setting offers the opportunity to improve knowledge base and positively influence beliefs and intentions for students. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of short education program among secondary school students on breastfeeding knowledge and intentions.Design/methodology/approachTotal of 106 female and 155 male students from four different high schools in Bjelovar were given online questionnaire about intentions to breastfeed and test of knowledge about breastfeeding, both before and shortly after education. The effect of education and school on breastfeeding intentions and knowledge was examined using mixed design ANOVA. Univariate tests were used to examine relation of several independent variables to breastfeeding intention and knowledge scores before and after education.FindingsResults showed statistically significant effect of education on both intentions and knowledge, whereas the effect of school was significant only for intentions. Students show more positive intentions and better knowledge about breastfeeding after education than before education.Research limitations/implicationsThis paper does not entail validation of breastfeeding questionnaire and knowledge test. Due to comprehensiveness and report length, study on validity and reliability of measures is the subject of another paper.Practical implicationsThe authors hope that results of the study will influence professional public in Croatia and encourage it to support implementation of breastfeeding education in curriculum.Originality/valueThis paper offers the first national intervention data in relation to breastfeeding intentions and knowledge among secondary school students. It provides an evidence for necessity of implementation of well-structured education module in regular curriculum of secondary education in Croatia.

Abstract:
Background Smart devices (SDs) are widely used among adolescents. Numerous studies have recommended further research on this topic to find out the prevalence of SD overuse among school students and to what extent this is associated with psychological distress. The present study aimed to investigate the pattern of SD use among secondary and high school students in the state of Kuwait, as well as the possible associations with psychological problems, weight, physical activity, and school performance. Materials and methods The correlational study design aimed to survey students from public schools by using a questionnaire and valid instruments, which included: Smartphone Addiction Scale–Short Version (SAS-SV) and Stress, Anxiety, and Depression Scale–(DASS-21). Pearson’s correlation coefficient, t-tests, one-way ANOVA were applied to find associations or significant differences between the categorical variables, in which p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results The study included 1,993 students from secondary schools (48.9%) and high schools (51.1%), of which 47.5% were male and 52.5% were female. There were significant statistical differences in the pattern of use of SDs, addiction to SD use, stress, anxiety, and depression according to gender, school type, school performance, and sport engagement. In addition, there were positive correlations between students’ addiction to SD use and stress, anxiety, and depression. Conclusions The findings suggest that excessive SD use is associated with addiction among secondary and high school students. In addition, levels of stress, anxiety, and depression differ according to the number of hours of SD use. Strategies should be developed at the community and school levels to avoid the overuse of SDs among school-aged students.

Abstract:
Science education research has recognized the potential of NanoScience and nanoTechnology (NST) due to its contribution to scientific literacy of future generations. Scholars have identified nine “Big Ideas” as important enough to teach in order to understand NST issues. Based on these “Big Ideas” a teaching learning sequence for lower secondary students has been developed focused on: Size and Scale, Tools and Instrumentation, Size-Dependent Properties and Science-Technology-Society. The teaching sequence was implemented in a class of 15 students of a lower secondary school (8th grade; aged 14-15). Seven meetings took place; each one lasting about ninety minutes. The course was structured as follows: 1. Introduction. 2. How small is a nanometer? 3. How can we “see” the nanoworld? 4. Size-dependent properties: Change of the surface area to volume ratio. 5. Explaining the behavior of different textiles (ranged from hydrophilic to hydrophobic) when absorbing water drops. 6. Explaining color changes in gold nanoparticles. 7. Risk assessment of nanotechnology. Data have been collected by questionnaires, interviews, students’ worksheets and field notes. The results seem to be encouraging for the teaching of NST issues even in lower levels of education.

Abstract:

In Turkish educational system, students’ secondary school grade point average (GPA) scores constitute the basic criteria in determining the high schools they will next attend. Students, who start their high school careers based on this grade, receive their education together with peers who have similar GPA scores. In these pivotal years which play a significant role in developing character, teenagers not only affect each other through interaction, but also shape their likes and dislikes collectively during this high school period. Music interest in students is also shaped during this process. This descriptive study has been conducted at nine high schools in central Konya. The sample group includes a total of 626 students, 195 of whom are from three high schools with high GPA scores, 193 from three high schools with average GPA scores, and 238 from three high schools with low GPA scores. The results of the study reveal not only certain similarities between the student groups, but also significant difference between the groups in terms of the will to play a musical instrument, the music genres the students prefer to listen, singers and bands the students follow, and whether or not to choose music as a career path.

Abstract:
The higher education diversity programs that Texas enacted after Hopwood v. University of Texas banned affirmative action had unexpected positive consequences for the state’s high schools. The Texas top 10% law, the Longhorn Opportunity Scholarship and Century Scholarship programs, and the Towards Excellence, Access and Success Grant program each explicitly linked postsecondary opportunities to high school performance and clearly articulated that link to students across the state. As a result, these programs worked as K–16 school reforms, using college opportunities as incentives to improve educational outcomes at the high school level. Using panel data describing Texas high schools between 1993 and 2002, the author demonstrates that Texas’s post- Hopwood higher education policies redistributed college-related activity at public high schools and boosted high school students’ academic engagement.

Abstract:
School organization is a key driver for meaningful inclusion for students with disabilities. While there are promising examples of how schools organize for inclusion with intensive technical assistance, little is known about how high schools organize without such supports. In a case study of two high schools, we compare school organization by looking at their formal design and teachers’ daily routines. While both schools incorporated models for supporting students into their formal design, their daily routines revealed practices that were at odds with the spirit of inclusion. Routines involved special educators helping students pass their classes, though often not through meaningful learning opportunities. We offer insight into the affordances and constraints of school organization, revealing implications for meaningful inclusion.

This article utilizes mixed methods—a lottery-based experimental design supplemented by qualitative data—to examine college readiness within an innovative high school setting: early college high schools. Early colleges are small schools that merge the high school and college experiences and are targeted at students underrepresented in college. Results show that early college students are more likely to have successfully completed the courses they need for entrance into college; early college students also graduated from high school at a higher rate. Interview and survey data show that early college students are generally considered similarly prepared to more traditional postsecondary students. The interview data also provide detailed descriptions of the kinds of strategies the schools use to support college readiness. The article concludes with lessons learned for secondary school principals.

Investigations carried out in late 2001 in primary and secondary schools of Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis comprised students, teachers and associates. The aim of investigations was to get insight into the state-of-the-arts problems and needs of our primary and secondary schools. The paper is a part of investigations, related to the results obtained for students' opinions of their interrelations with teachers as well as opinions of teachers themselves. The sample comprised 727 students of 4th grade of secondary vocational and high schools, 562 students of 8th grade of primary schools 168 secondary school and 107 primary school teachers. We investigated their interrelationships and within this framework the level of potential or current aggressive behavior. The majority of teachers (51%) estimated student-teacher relationships mediocre - neither good nor bad. The most frequent problem in students' behavior is, according to the teachers instruction disturbance. One-quarter of teachers find that students offend them, ridicule them, or mock at them in front of others, and 5 per cent complain of physical injury intimidation on the part of students. When a problem comes up, 18 per cent of teachers talk with a student, and nearly 10 per cent of teachers give lower grades in their subject, so as to punish a student for undisciplined behaviors. In teachers' opinion, society, school the least, is to be blamed for the situation.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to assess whether the way of evaluation in Physical Education (PE) classes (i.e. by a mark or being credited as ‘pass’ or ‘fail’) is associated with physical activity (PA) of high school students, and whether there are differences if students are of secondary or performing arts high school. The study involved 486 students of 9–12th grades from three secondary and three performing arts high schools in one of the biggest cities of Lithuania. Analyzing secondary high school students’ PA, estimated by modified International PA Questionnaire, in relation to assessment system in PE, statistically significant (p<0.01) differences were found only in vigorous PA (VPA), i.e. students, who are assessed by marks in PE, are involved in VPA more frequently than those who are being rated ‘pass’ or ‘fail’. A reverse situation was observed in performing arts high school students: more students, who are being rated ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ in PE, are involved in vigorous and moderate PA more frequently comparing to students who are assessed by a mark. We may conclude that the assessment mode in PE classes may influence PA of schoolchildren, but differently for secondary and performing arts high school students.

Abstract:
Background: Two Healthy People 2020 goals are to increase physical activity (PA) and to reduce disparities in PA. We explored whether PA at the school level changed over time in Minnesota schools and whether differences existed by demographic and socioeconomic factors. Methods: We examine self-reported PA (n = 276,089 students; N = 276 schools) for 2001–2010 from the Minnesota Student Survey linked to school demographic data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the Rural–Urban Commuting Area Codes. We conducted analyses at the school level using multivariable linear regression with cluster-robust recommendation errors. Results: Overall, students who met PA recommendations increased from 59.8% in 2001 to 66.3% in 2010 (P < .001). Large gains in PA occurred at schools with fewer racial/ethnic minority students (0%–60.1% in 2001 to 67.5% in 2010, P < .001), whereas gains in PA were comparatively small at schools with a high proportion of racial/ethnic minority students in 2001 (30%–59.2% in 2001 to 62.7% in 2010). Conclusions: We found increasing inequalities in school-level PA by racial/ethnic characteristics of their schools and communities among secondary school students. Future research should monitor patterns of PA over time and explore mechanisms for patterns of inequality.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to analyze the dimensions of creativity in high-ability teenage students. Firstly, we reviewed the most relevant scientific contributions on creativity. Next, the dimensions of creativity in secondary school students who were previously identified as high-ability students were analyzed. The sample was obtained from 215 students, of which 31 were identified as high-ability students. The abilities associated with divergent thinking were assessed using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking The fluency, flexibility, and originality dimensions were assessed with the Scientific-Creative Thinking Test. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach. Tests were administered during school hours from March to June 2019. They were corrected considering the protocols established by the original authors themselves. Data were analyzed using SPSS, version 24.0. The results provide evidence that high-ability students achieve higher scores in both the figurative-creativity and scientific-creativity dimensions. A significant relationship between creativity and high ability was therefore established. Students with high abilities and qualities require the educational support necessary to develop their talent. This study was of an exploratory nature and the results obtained contribute to developing future studies applying its findings in teenagers’ teaching–learning process.

The purpose of this study was to reflect on the opinions of secondary school students about their effects on school management's decision-making processes. In this descriptive study, comparative survey method has been used according to sub-purposes which require difference tests. Population of the research was 2883 students who are having education at eight secondary schools in Beypazarı district. Purposive sampling method was used to determine the research group. This research group was 116 students who had been chosen as class representatives by their classmates. The questionnaires were taken to the schools mentioned above in 2008-2009 Academic Year's second term. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t test, Kruskal-Wallis H test and Mann-Whitney U tests are used to analyze data. According to the findings of the research, the general state levels are found noteworthy lower than the general demand levels on decision-making processes of school management's for students. In addition to this, students emphasize that they're more effective and willing on decision-making processes when school management takes instructional decisions rather than administrative decisions. It doesn't make any significant difference of the students' gender and the grade they are educated when the effectiveness and willingness are taken into the consideration. Students, who are having education at Anatolian High Schools, specify that they are unable to affect the school management's decision making processes. Also these students demand to affect decision-making processes much more than the other types of schools' students.

Abstract:
The education system in Geneva, Switzerland, offers two organisationally contrasting modes of grouping students in secondary 1 education. Students either belong to schools which run a segmented system (students are grouped into two streams based on their academic level) or a more integrated system, with heterogeneous classes made up of ability groups for some subjects. Using longitudinal data, this article examines the impact of these two modes of grouping students and of within-school segregation on the way students are oriented in secondary 2 education. The results of a multilevel logistic regression analysis show that students attending the segmented system are less likely to be oriented towards a baccalaureate school, the most selective path of secondary 2 education. They also show that the effects of within-school segregation contribute to reinforcing inequalities between students: the likelihood of attending a baccalaureate school is much lower in classes with a high percentage of students from a disadvantaged background. Finally, they show that the negative effects of school segregation tend to be stronger in the segmented system.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution of immorality in attitudes of students towards school misbehaviour (codes of behaviour at school) and whether the intensity of agreement with school misbehaviour is relative to student age. The research was conducted on the territory of Serbia and included 11 primary schools, 12 secondary schools and 2 faculties. The sample consisted of 1847 students (the gender was almost evenly distributed), who were administered the School Misbehaviour Scale. The scale showed a high reliability. We examined the following misbehaviours at school: attitudes towards exam cheating, truancy, answer whispering, falsifying school documents, rationalising violence towards teachers, bribery and corruption, school nepotism and general attitudes towards misbehaviour. The results showed that a great number of students agreed with school misbehaviour; exam cheating and answer whispering are the most common misbehaviours agreed with by students. Significant age differences in the agreement with school misbehaviour were established; the development line of approval of school misbehaviour is fairly equal for all types of school misbehaviour and shows that fourth grade students in primary school least approve of school misbehaviour, followed by sixth grade students. Seventh grade figures as the period when agreement with almost all types of school misbehaviour starts to increase. This is an upward and continuous trend during the eighth grade, as well as in the first and second grade of secondary school. In the third grade, agreement with misbehaviour starts to decrease and this trend continues through the fourth grade of secondary school and at the faculty.

Abstract:
In our paper we sought for the answer to the question: based on which motives do students from various types of high schools (in our case, denominational or non- denominational school) make their choice of educational institution? The target group of our research consists of the 9th and 11th grade students of Harghita County’s denominational (Roman Catholic, Reformed, Unitarian) schools and the non-denominational ones added to them. All in all, eight high schools got into our sample. We conducted a survey by questionnaire, the sample including 1,064 people. We analyzed the decision criteria formed based on motives behind the decision (primary and secondary effects) on the one hand, and followed the decision making process on the other. The non-denominational sector is often chosen by the elite- and institution-oriented student group, who has great expectations of the institution, e.g. - top of the line standards of education, outstanding achievement indicators, prestige of the institution, local reputation. According to the clusters created from the motives, the value- and community-oriented student group, as well as the one following the orientation of the peer group, can be found in significantly higher proportion in denominational schools.

Abstract:
Central exams which are reflection of structure of education systems determine many schooling processes. Especially, scores coming from these exams are indicators for student performance. Transition to upper-secondary school from lower-secondary school is based on “System of Transition to Upper-Secondary Schools” (LGS). The current study aimed to examine the relationship between scores on System of Transition to High Schools (LGS) and student, classroom, and school level variables. The design of the study is a correlational research. The random sample consisted of 731 students from 47 classrooms in the 15 lower-secondary schools. Secondary data coming from educational institutions via school information form were analyzed by Hierarchical Linear Modelling (HLM). Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to identify how secondary education students define the concept of justice, based on which criteria they define their experiences as just/unjust, what they see as the source of injustice, how they feel and how they behave when they face injustice. This study was designed as a qualitative research study. Open-ended questions were asked to the students and they were asked to give detailed answers. Descriptive analysis was used in analysing the collected data. The study group consisted of students studying at 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades in different types of high schools (Anatolian High School, Vocational School for Girls, Science High School). A total number of 268 high school students participated in the study. We used convenience sampling to choose the study group. The results of the study indicated that students defined the concept of justice with the “equality, equity non-discrimination, respect, rights and freedoms, conscience, rights, deciding the right, being fair and needs” concepts. The students see grades, school rules and non-communication they experience with their teachers and principals as unjust, so they point the school principals as the source of injustice. Besides, the students indicated that they had negative feelings when they experienced something that is not just but preferred to stay silent.
