Investment in human capital is as important for growth as physical capital. The objective of this paper is to establish the importance of some factors, that affect the decision of a household to send their children who are of school going age, between 5-14 years, to school in urban areas. This paper is divided into five sections, Section 2 reviews the relevant schooling literature for Pakistan. Section 3 points some theoretical hypotheses describing the data and Section 4 presents the analysis, and finally Section 5 presents some conclusions.

A numerical model was developed for predicting the bead geometry and microstructure in laser beam welding of 2 mm thickness Inconel 718 sheets. The experiments were carried out with a 1 kW maximum power fiber laser coupled with a galvanometric scanner. Wobble strategy was employed for sweeping 1 mm wide circular areas for creating the weld seams, and a specific tooling was manufactured for supplying protective argon gas during the welding process. The numerical model takes into account both the laser beam absorption and the melt-pool fluid movement along the bead section, resulting in a weld g

Abstract. Knowledge of molecular photolysis cross sections is important for determining atmospheric lifetimes and fates of many species. A method and laser apparatus for measurement of these cross sections in the near-ultraviolet (UV) region is described. The technique is based on action spectroscopy, where the yield of a photodissociation product (in this case OH) is measured as a function of excitation energy. For compounds yielding OH, this method can be used to measure near-UV photodissociation cross section as low as 10−23 cm2 molecule−1. The method is applied to determine the photodissoc

The latter depends significantly on the provisions of the former when interpreting the scope and application of certain of its provisions, notably in the context of mergers.
