Full textThe problem described in this thesis is the high generation of waste in the process of making garments in Peruvian MYPES. The textile manufacturing sector generates 1.9% of total GDP and is responsible for 400,000 direct jobs and 2.8 million people indirectly. Considering the importance that this sector represents for the economic development of Peru, new models or methods that help to confront the problem of the high generation of waste presented by Peruvian MYPES are required. Therefore, a literature review was conducted to identify various models that provide a solution to the problem. Among them were studies where Value Stream Mapping, Lean manufacturing, REDUTEX, Linear programming is implemented. These models have provided improvements to the problem; however, they have not considered particular variables of the MYPES such as change management, economic, technological deficiencies and negative barriers in their implementation. This thesis proposes an agile and sustainable method that helps reduce production waste in textile MYPES. This method consists of 4 stages: create awareness and culture of NO waste, 6S implementation, maintain change and continuous improvement. Each stage consists of knowledge extracted from the literature review, which consists of the application of several tools together as change management, 6S and W-AMEF. The method was applied in a Peruvian made MYPE. This application had a duration of 3 months and the recorded results were a reduction of 52.13% in the generation of waste and 54.88% in the generation of unnecessary movements; also, labor productivity went from being 4.2 p / H to 4.8 poles per hour.

Full textThe apparel and textile industrial sector has a historical meaning for Colombia; driving the economy growth for about 100 years. Currently facing very important transformation because the access to new foreign markets, and because the domestic market flooded with low cost apparels from other producing countries. It is also worth to mention, that the sector generates lots of jobs, which makes it have a strategic importance for the government, in order to meet internal goals for social development as well to absorb the population is entering working age, either by the demographics, urban migration and the post-conflict. That's why this strategic planning paper plays a key role, redefine the industry and find new products and markets is critical to the future of this sector. Search new technologies, materials, processes or cutting edge designs that will enable the sector to position itself on the global market and to capture a significant market share, and thereby generate income, growth and employment for the country. The sector needs substantial investments in research and development, training for all human resources involved in the production chain and in infrastructure to improve the country's competitiveness. This is an enormous challenge and can only be achieved with the joint efforts of the government, private investors, associations, workers and academia. If Colombia wants a world class textile and apparel industry, it is imperative to take the actions described above and align the efforts of all stakeholders.

Full textThe top quality of the wool and cotton from peruvians camelids, the innovative designs and the hand-finished products are an ancient heritage that has placed the textile and clothing industry of Peru to a world-wide high quality recognition. Until 2008, its growth and its development placed them among the most important non-traditional industries in Perú. Nowadays, this industry is considered to be as one of the main generators of employment in the country and it represents 1.0% of the total peruvian PBI. Nonetheless, the market instability, the economic stagnation of many countries (such as the economy of the United States), the appearance of new competitors from central america, the internal political and economical problems, the high labor costs and the lack of aggressive policies to develop the sector has lead to a contraction of the exports, which year after year continue to fall. The textile and clothing industry faces big challenges: the investigation to improve the productivity and the performance of the fibers (camelid wool and cotton); the improvement in the production techniques; the originality and the innovation in the designs; the business management; the integration of the sectors involved in the chain value; and the creation of a specialized Cluster that combine both the private and public institutions to improve the competitiveness and profitability of the textile and clothing industry.

Full textIn Peru, the growth of exports of dressing cloths has turned the sector of manufacturing cloths in a sector of relevant importance for the development of the country. The manufacture of dressing cloths represents 7,1 % of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). In trade terms our country has a surplus being the principal exported product the fabrics, specifically in cotton t-shirts, due to great experience in this item by local companies. Nowadays the market of exporting companies of manufacturing clothes develops its activity by increasing the degree of exigency in terms of variety of products, quality, price and level of service. In this context, logistics has turned into a key and strategic function to reach competitive advantages. In this respect, the management of the supply chain receives every time more importance to establish plans of improvement, to improve logistic processes and, in consequence, to raise the level of competitiveness of companies. So that, the model SCOR used by the present investigation, is a tool for the organizations to diagnose the current situation in which they find the processes of the supply chain and establish the improvements that allow them to raise its level of competitiveness. In order to validate the proposed tool there appeared a series of requirements that a company of the sector should fulfill with purpose of knowing and evaluating all its processes. These requirements are: to be integrated vertically, to destine 100 % of production, which must not be less than 400 000 pieces per month to the external market, to have a prepared teamwork, innovative and interactive that can be able to give a fast answer to the changeable and demanding market; to have definite processes of logistics of inside and outside; and finally, rely on one definite system of communication in order to allow us to plan the production considering the human and material resources that are needed, as well as to exchange information with the clients: about their requirements and the information of their orders. So the selected company was Textile San Cristobel S.A., company with more than 60 years of experience on the market. The evaluation of the tool allowed us to identify not only the relevancy of the good practices proposed by the model and the approximation of these good practices to the specific and relevant processes of the sector, but the incorporation of good practices that had not been considered in the initial that turn out to be indispensable of evaluating. This work as result, gives a validated tool that can be applied by any company of manufacture, so that it will allow them to measure the scope and current condition of the processes and to appear more improvements with the purpose of being more efficient and competitive.

In the last years the export growth of Spanish Companies was really high, even if European Companies ( British, German, French, Italian) didn't achieve such a good result. This thesis pretends to compare Spanish export activities with the results achieved by Italian firms. The aim is to analyse the successful keys that make the difference between them. The thesis has five chapters. In the first one we study the results of our international investigation focused on the export performance of the firms. The second one focuses on the Italian and Spanish export figures, in terms of export probability and intensity. In the third one we present a model explaining the companies export results and we compare it with the two companies, a Spanish and a Italian one, from the textile-clothing sector. The fourth one describes the information collected on the field and identifies, through analytical techniques, the profile of such companies located in Catalonia and in Lombardìa. Moreover we identify the keys of major success of the Lombardian Companies face to the catalan ones. The fifth and last one examine the relationship between investigation in R+D and the export results of the Italian and Spanish firms.
The comparative analysis on the international performance of the Italian and Spanish companies of the textile-clothing sector focuses on three points: the exporting compromise, the company internal characteristics as a competitive advantage, (size, R&D, managerial entrepreneurship, marketing mix). The regression analysis allowed us to find and to differentiate the reasons of different export results between the companies themselves. The experience in the export field and an updated technology were pointed as the major keys of the success of Italian firms.
This analysis underlines the structural, organizational and strategic key factors to be improved to achieve the best export results.
