Sediments are particles derived from the dismantling of rocks from the land and pieces of shell and remains of marine organisms that contain organic matter, included carbonate sediment. The total carbonate sediment content was influenced by many factors, such as sediment grain type. This study aimed to determine the carbonate content in sediments and to determine their relationship to the sediment grain characteristic on the Cilacap coast. The sediment's carbonate content used the titration method, while the sediment grain test used a dry filter. Statistical analysis was used to determine the

The characteristics and behavior of rivers depend on numerous factors which are highly variable and complex. Sediment characteritics and sediment-transport capacity of rivers are important factors that influence river characteristics. Significant amounts of ground-water inflowing to or outflowing from a river reach affect flow characteristics of that reach, which in turn alter the capability of the reach for transporting sediment and result in changed river characteristics. Abstract:
A number of sites around the United States have used activated carbon (AC) amendments to remedy contaminated sediments. Variation in site-specific characteristics likely influences the long-term fate and efficacy of AC treatment. The long-term effectiveness of an AC amendment to sediment is largely unknown, as the field performance has not been monitored for more than three years. As a consequence, the focus of this research effort was to evaluate AC’s long-term (6–10 yr) performance. These assessments were performed at two pilot-scale demonstration sites, Grasse River, Massena, New York and C

Abstract:
Channel maintenance in most major rivers throughout the United States requires ongoing dredging to maintain navigability. The US Army Corps of Engineers explores several options for placement based on sediment characteristics, material quantity, cost, operational constraints, and minimization of potential adverse effects to existing resources and habitat. It is a priority to beneficially reuse dredged sediments to create habitat and retain sediments within the river system whenever possible. Nonetheless, there can be discrepancies among state and federal resource agencies, landowners, tribes,

Abstract:
Offshore wind farms typically host tens to hundreds of turbines that are individually sited on foundations or anchored if floating. These are connected by inter-farm cables which feed into one or more marine-based substations, further feeding one or more shore-connected high-voltage cables - all infrastructure that requires knowledge of water depth, metocean conditions, and seabed/subsurface geology. With this industry set to establish itself on the continental shelf of Atlantic Canada, knowledge of the geological conditions from the seabed to tens of metres below will be essential for farm la
