Aim of the Study: Two main geologic terrains of basement complex and sedimentary areas were investigated for underground water production capacity by evaluating the aquifer properties. The assessment was done by evaluating 19 boreholes in the two terrains. TK1-TK10 constituted the boreholes from basement area, while AK1-9 constituted boreholes of sedimentary terrain. Methodology: Pumping rate of the boreholes were crucial to establish the water production capacity from the geologic terrains. Abstract Tesserae on Venus are locally the stratigraphically oldest units preserved on the planet. These regions are characterized by pervasive tectonic deformation including normal faults, grabens, thrust faults, and folds. In multiple tesserae, sets of (often highly) curved, parallel linear features are also present. These features strongly resemble terracing in layered volcanic or sedimentary sequences on Earth having arcuate or sinuous outcrop patterns that follow undulating topography. Should this analogy hold for Venus, then these outcrop patterns imply some erosion of the tessera units

In the past, the term “terra rossa” became quite a common indication for all limestone derived red soils in the Mediterranean region. Today, in some classification systems based on the Mediterranean climate as the major soil differentiating criterion, the term terra rossa is used as a name for the soil subclass “Modal Fersiallitic Red soil” when situated on limestones (DUCHAUFOUR, 1982). However, several national soil classifications (e.g. Croatian, Italian, Israeli) retained the term “terra rossa” for the hard limestone derived red soils. We have used high-resolution geophysical data to investigate depositional and erosional bedforms in two geomorphologic provinces of the deepwater central Gulf of Mexico Basin: (1) the Mad Dog and Atlantis areas in the Sigsbee Escarpment region and (2) the Holstein minibasin within the salt canopy in the slope. Multibeam bathymetry indicates that the seafloor relief in the study areas is highly irregular because it is influenced by the dynamic behavior of underlying salt bodies resulting in the development of diverse bathymetric features. Local Rayleigh wave group velocity dispersion curves were estimated using time-frequency analysis method and two-dimensional surface wave tomography method. Our results distinctly highlight prominent changes in velocity structure along both the northern and southern flanks of Daruneh fault, occurring at both the crustal and lithospheric scales. These two elements of the periglacial landscape serve as complementary paleoenvironmental archives that can be traced back to ∼ 14,000 cal yr BP. The slope se

Hydrochemical investigation of forty boreholes drilled on the basement and sedimentary rocks in Ibadan and Lagos metropolis southwestern Nigeria respectively were carried out in order to determine the portability of the groundwater in both areas and to highlight differences in their chemical characters and variations with seasons. Data obtained indicated that the groundwater in Ibadan area is mainly the Na + Ca – HCO3type, while that of Lagos is Na + Ca – C1 + SO4 type. The groundwater chemistry reflects weathering of sodic plagioclase feldspars in the basement rocks as well as arkosic sands
