Hlavaty, Antoine.
Full textThe Ville-Guay carbonate breccia is a member of the Lauzon Formation (Quebec City area, upper Cambrian). It reaches a maximum thickness of 10 meters and a lateral extension of several kilometers. Until recently, this breccia has been interpreted as having been triggered by tectonic instability which resulted in submarine landslides from the continental slope. However, this interpretation does not explain the field relationships and the heterogeneous composition of the Ville-Guay carbonate breccia. The objective of this research is to document and interpret this lithostratigraphic set contemporary with the spreading of the Iapetus Ocean during the Cambrian. Four main localities (stratotype Ville-Guay, three locations on the Orleans Island) and seven secondary localities were identified, characterized and sampled. A total of 60 meters of stratigraphic sections was measured with a centimeter resolution and 100 samples were collected. 60 of these samples were selected for petrographic analysis (thin sections). The Ville-Guay carbonate breccia is a polymict and polymodal breccia. The clasts are in point contact and reach a maximum diameter of 2 meters (the average diameter is 10 cm). The matrix is argillaceous-silty, calcareous and dolomitic. Some clasts are exposed at the top of the breccia and sometimes covered by a layer of turbidite. There is no significant internal organization of the clasts in the bench. The breccia is formed of a stack of hectometric width channels. The components have highly variable facies: sponge-spicule wackestone, mudstone, bio-lithoclastic packstone, packstone (trilobites), reef debris grainstone and rudstone, calcimicrobes-rich reef boundstone (Renalcis, Epiphyton, Girvanella, Hedstroemia), ooids grainstone, lithoclastic grainstone. These facies can be integrated in a distal-proximal direction and cover all the different stages of a Cambrian carbonate platform model. These elements suggest that the formation of Ville-Guay carbonate breccia is associated with the development of tilted blocks during the opening of the Iapetus Ocean, with oblique listric faults deeply cutting into the platform. The inclination of the blocks created the space to focus the debris flow and enhance clasts mixing. The deposit center of these mass flows migrates over time indicating a widening of the basin.

Full textThe urban tourism is an important factor for the economic and spatial development of many cities in the contemporary world. However, new destinations and new tourists practices emerges continually. The offers of destinations and activities are rapidly growth and diversify, making also much more competitive the urban tourism market. These changes are stimulated, for a big part, by tourist behaviour which is looking for new experiences, more quickly and more personalised choices. The tourist behaviour becomes more complex and less predicable. The Quebec City and area constitute a typical urban destination, combining culture, history and nature activities. Its tourism infrastructures respond to new tourist’s practices and are in accord with the best international standards. But, in despite of good performances the region is confronted with the competition of new destinations as well as with the necessity to have a better equilibration between its different geographical areas and activities practiced. This equilibration will increase it’s competitively in the Canadian market by projecting a more attractive image to its potential tourists and visitors. In the aim to better understand the relation between City and tourism we have analyse the spatiotemporal behaviour of Canadian and international tourists who had visits the region during 1998-2003 period. The data used provide from the Canadian and International Travel Surveys, carried out from 1998 to 2002 by Statistic Canada, as well as from a survey on tourist’s behaviour, carried out in 2003, by Quebec City and Area office of Tourism. The results obtained show that contrary to our starting assumption, the tourism attractivity of the region does not result so much from the triad “history/culture - business/congress - outdoor” but it is especially on “history/culture - shopping - outdoor” activities. The inner city remains always very attractive for the visitors but it is also complemented by a new tourist area, increasingly attended, which is the “green crown” surrounding the city. Lastly, the results obtained make it possible to raise our knowledge in particular with regard to the destination choice and its determinants factors; the importance of intra-regional heterogeneity in the choice of place of stay and the lodging mode; as well as the relation between the tourist’s socio-economic profile and the spatio-temporal factors influencing the choice of activities practised during the stay.

Full textNumerous immigrants of different origins, customs, religions and languages are welcomed every year in theQuebec City area, resulting in a growing diversification of the population. The emergence of prejudices andstereotypes towards them is becoming an increasingly worrisome subject and can have concreterepercussions on their reality. Although the second half of the 20th century was marked by the development ofnumerous policies aimed at facilitating the integration of newcomers and the sensitization and openness of thehost society, daily interactions and discriminatory public expressions relating to hateful gestures and words arestill very present in this 21st century Quebec. Although the establishment of cultural mediation spaces inintercultural contexts can lead to greater cultural sensitivity, little research has been done on the effects ofinteractions on the mutual perceptions of natives and immigrants. Considering these different findings, theobjective of this study is to explore how prejudices evolve within an intercultural group experience. Therefore, this research questions how the interactional dynamics within the group can positively transform perceptions ofeach other. From the perspective of symbolic interactionism and social representation theory, this qualitativeresearch is based on the use of MICAM, a model based on mutual accompaniment, cooperation andintercultural mediation, offering a space for interactive exchange, sharing and reflection. Data was collectedfrom five native Quebecers and five immigrant Quebecers, participating in seven group workshops (MICAM)and two semi-directed qualitative interviews (pre- and post-group). The results collected show that this methodoffers sustained contact between individuals, and that listening, testimonials, transmission of information andself-reflection contribute to greater mutual recognition and the development of positive attitudes among thenative-born towards immigrants who interact in the group. These findings demonstrate the relevance ofoffering spaces for cultural mediation in intercultural contexts in order to improve interactions betweennewcomers and members of the host society

Full textIn Quebec, the retention rate 5 years after entering practice is 25% lower for foreign trained nurses than it is for nurses that completed their studies locally (OIIQ, 2017a). The integration of foreign trained nurses into the health system helps to maintain a sufficient workforce and facilitate accessibility to health care for people of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds (Pearson et al., 2007; RNAO, 2007). Based on the Transition Theory of Meleis (2010), our qualitative study inspired by a phenomenology approach aimed at understanding the experience of professional transition as lived by foreign trained nurses in Quebec City. The data, collected for 6 participants was via semi-structured interview, has been analysed with theme identification (Pierre Paillé & Mucchielli, 2012). Three major themes around the experience of internationally educated nurses were found: living different transitions at the same time, experimenting a different practice and realising the contrast between one’s expectations and the reality. Then, conditions influencing transition emerged from the data: using inner resources and strengths to adapt, the influence of the work environment and being different. Finally, two last themes emerged for the analysis concerning the evaluation of the integration made by the nurse herself and an feeling of accomplishment. In accordance with our results and the literature, we conclude this study suggesting different

Full textIn the context of the internationalization of higher education in OECD countries, Canada welcomes a significant number of international students each year. Some of them have applied for permanent residence after graduation. They are based on Canada's immigration policies that facilitate the transition of international students to permanent residence. The results of this study show that the majority of participants did not intend to immigrate to Canada, but the immigration project has profiled during their studies due to several factors. Other participants put forward their study project in order to carry out their permanent immigration project. In this context, this exploratory study aims to understand the perception of former international students who become immigrants with respect to their career path. Analysis of the interviews shows that the majority of participants expressed a sense of satisfaction with their professional integration. An analysis of the speeches of some participants shows that this satisfaction cannot be explained by the quality of the jobs held. They have put forward the passion that drives them in their work even if they do not have jobs that match their skills. However, it is revealed that in this study other participants are very dissatisfied with their professional integration. Regarding the factors that contribute to their integration, all participants agreed that having a network of contacts in professional environments is a key element. For the factors that hinder professional integration, participants in this research from minority groups mention that discrimination and prejudice are challenges.

Full textBased mainly on industrial, specialized and increasingly concentrated agriculture, the food system of the industrialized countries is now highly criticized because of its negative externalities on the environment, land use and employment. In order to reconnect food and agriculture and to reduce the distances traveled by food, many initiatives seek to reduce the number of intermediaries in the food system and bring geographically closer production and consumption. In Canada, large cities have programs that promote local food. We developed a methodology and a model to answer these questions: Would we be able to meet all our needs through local production? If not, in which proportion? From available statistics, we evaluated the potential production of the regions under study (Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches) and then analyzed the adequacy between production and food consumption. Results show that the studied territory could produce up to 155% of the calories needed by its population, but livestock farming pulls the theoretical coverage of food needs down to 38%. The actual coverage rate of local needs by local products varies from less than 5% to more than 400%, depending on the food item. This percentage is unique to the region, but our model could be applied at different scales, and in any region. A field survey allowed us to seek the representation of agri-food stakeholders in the local food issue. All stakeholders are in favor of relocating food. On the other hand, they all believe that the price of local food is higher, which does not play in favor of local food. Key words: local food system, local food, food production capacity, food self-sufficiency, foodshed, calorie, Quebec.

Physician-patient communication is a central element in care and a good communication is linked to several health benefits for the patient. However, communication difficulties persist in medical encounters and these difficulties are more present in consultations with ethnic and ethnolinguistic minorities. Previous literature on physician-patient communication present some limitations that restrict our understanding of communication difficulties. In order to improve care, patients’ experiences of this communication must be understood. The first article inserted in this doctoral dissertation consists of a systematic review and meta-ethnography of qualitative studies exploring patients’ experiences of communication with primary care physicians. Three concepts emerged from analyses: negative experiences, positive experiences and outcomes of communication. Most studies in this review did not explore ethnic and ethnolinguistic aspects, but the few studies which did show that ethnic and ethnolinguistic minorities face additional barriers that exert mainly a negative influence on patients’ experiences of communication, namely, language barriers and discrimination. This review illustrates the pertinence of exploring patients’ experiences, with different ethnic and ethnolinguistic backgrounds, with qualitative methods, in order to gain a deep understanding of their perspective. Ensuing from this observation, the doctoral study was developed to explore in detail patients’ experiences of communication. During the interviews, it became apparent that patient participation was a central theme to describe patients’ experiences of communication with physicians. Since an inductive approach was chosen, the emerging objective of this study was to explore patients’ experiences of participation in the medical consultation with physicians. Moreover, we aimed to explore nuances in these experiences of participation according to patients’ ethnic and ethnolinguistic background. Findings show that patient participation is a central theme to describe experiences of communication. Five themes emerged in response to the first objective and these themes are organized in two key dimensions: a) participation in terms of information exchange and b) participation in terms of assertiveness. Across these themes, two types of participation emerged: proactive participation (i.e. patient initiated) and responsive participation (i.e. physician initiated). Patients also discussed experiences of non-participation; however, these were less common. Ethnolinguistic minorities discussed less participative experiences and attributed these difficulties to language barriers and to their ethnolinguistic identity. In conclusion, ethnic and ethnolinguistic minorities seem to face additional barriers which exert mostly a negative influence on their experiences of communication and participation. In turn, these difficulties may engender negative consequences for the patients’ health, thus partly explaining health inequities affecting these minority groups. A contextual model of patient participation is presented and discussed to contextualize patients’ experiences of communication and participation.

Educational achievement requires a clear delineation of the responsibilities of the stakeholders, monitoring of students’ learning and, if necessary, readjustments to pedagogical practices. The lack of accountability could jeopardize progress and entrench harmful practices in education systems (UNESCO, 2017). In this regard, in the province of Québec, Canada, the Public Education Act law (PEA) advocates using the results-based management approach (RBM). RBM requires the Ministry of Education, school boards and the schools themselves to set performance targets for graduation and perseverance of students. At the local level, pedagogical supervision is an essential process for the school principal in achieving these targets identified in the RBM tools (Brassard, Lusignan and Pelletier, 2013; Maroy et collab., 2016). Although a consensus has been reached regarding the purpose of the RBM policies – here being the improvement of educational effectiveness – the philosophy behind this method of regulation creates a considerable number of challenges for education stakeholders (Maroy, 2013). For example, because of the administrative burden of these policies, many school principals must devote more time to the execution of administrative tasks, to the detriment of educational tasks, including pedagogical supervision (Champoux-Lesage et al., 2014). In addition, traditional training methods only partially prepare school principals to meet their pedagogical supervision responsibilities (Bickmore, 2010). In this regard, the collaborative work between the worlds of research and practice is a promising avenue to be explored for training in the field of educational administration (Bernatchez, 2017; Bouchamma, April and Basque, 2018; CTREQ, 2018; MELS, 2008). This collaboration allows for both the development of practices and knowledge for the professional community as well as the advancement of knowledge for the scientific community (Bourassa et al., 2013). In this spirit of collaboration, this doctoral research project aspires to better understand and to improve the professional practices of school principals (n = 37) in pedagogical supervision in a context of RBM. This research project is based on three concepts: individual and collective pedagogical supervision, professional learning community (PLC) and professional development. In addition, we retain the theory of goal setting (Locke and Latham, 1990; 2002; 2013). This research is part of a Chantier 7 project In-service training program for school staff entitled “Améliorer les compétences des gestionnaires d’établissement scolaire en supervision pédagogique par la communauté d’apprentissage et de pratique professionnelle en présentiel et en ligne” (Bouchamma and Giguère, 2014-2017). School principals from the Découvreurs School Board (n = 21) and the Navigateurs School Board (n= 16) were recruited on a voluntary basis. The chosen design is mixed methods (Tashakkori and Teddlie, 2009). The corpus of qualitative data, produced from 21 focus group interviews in learning community was analysed thematically (Paillé and Mucchielli, 2012). Quantitative data collected from a questionnaire was analysed through Ttests, regression, and descriptive statistics. The results of the study indicate that individual supervision practices tend to be more numerous than the collective ones. Individual practices are mainly focused on the in-class observation and less on pre-observation or post-observation meetings. The least-used collective supervision practice is that of creating collaborative structures centered on teaching and learning. Moreover

Moreover
Full text$8373052\u$aMining in Canada is of undeniable economic and social importance. The mining industry produces tailings thatmay contaminate the soil and water ecosystems, causing long-term land degradation. This study focuses on the ecological restoration of gold mining wastes in the Canadian north, specifically in northern Quebec. The objective of this master thesis is to assess the potential of different implantation systems for the revegetation of a mine degraded land by assessing the survival of plants, the physicochemical parameters, and the microbial communities of the soil after four years. The field trials were established on gold post-mining sites on fine tailings, using a mixture of tree and herbaceous species, the amendment of symbiotic microorganisms, and biochar. This study has provided insight into the complexity of soil-plant-microorganism relationships. The results showed apositive effect of inoculation on the tree survival rate, especially for Alnus viridis ssp. Crispa and Picea glauca and their survival rate of over 90%. Moreover, the characterization of fungi and bacteria in the soil withthe Illumina Miseq technology made it possible to assess the diversity of microorganisms and their interactionin the environment. Also, the presence of bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas and ectomycorrhizal fungi of the genera Amphinema and Cadophora suggest that these beneficial soil microorganisms are well adapted to thisenvironment and can be used as inoculum. Biochar affects soil chemical parameters, especially pH, total carbon, and total nitrogen. These parameters ultimately affected the soil microbial communities. Thus, our results suggest that revegetation of degraded mine sites is possible with a combination of plants, amendments of biochar and, microsymbionts, adapted to edapho-climatic conditions.

In regions outside the Montreal metropolitan area, teachers are increasingly required to adapt to the presence of allophones in their schools and, in particular, within mainstream classrooms, which have traditionally been homogeneous. A number of these students are low-literate (De Koninck & Armand, 2012a). Research carried out on teachers' cognition, with respect to their ability to adapt, has shown that beliefs and perceptions are key to any changes that they are likely to make (Borg, 2006). In order to provide teachers with effective support, therefore, training programs must be designed to help them meet these new challenges, encouraging them to reflect on the situation and to implement new didactic and pedagogical practices in collaboration with other educators from the same school (Korthagen, 2010a). The objective of this study has been to determine whether a professional development program, "Alloscol", aimed at teachers and pedagogical advisors from the Quebec City area, would enable them to adapt their teaching to meet the needs of French-language learners. Alloscol focuses on providing support for the development of the language of schooling of educated or under-educated students by means of an integrated approach based on reflection and collaboration. Qualitative analysis was carried out on interviews conducted at the beginning and at the conclusion of the training program and on different adjusted versions of their course outlines. The results revealed: (1) that changes in the discourse and practices of teachers improved the integration of French-language learners into mainstream classrooms, thanks to a better understanding of the characteristics of the language of schooling along with associated sociocultural issues; and (2) that the design of the training program, which integrated reflection and collaboration among teachers with different areas of expertise, had a significant impact on these changes, although this varied from participant to participant. Respondents also indicated that factors related to working conditions, such as time constraints, hiring policies, and workload assignment, were barriers to deriving full benefit from the training program.

Full textThere is a lack of resources for nurses to work effectively with parents to increase physical activity of their preschooler. It is important to intervene given the problems of overweight and the low level of physical activity among young children. Based on the theory of planned behavior and other constructs, this study aims to identify the determining factors of parents’ intent to incite their children aged 3 to 5 years to be more active. A total of 282 parents, attending 35 child care centers in Quebec, completed a self-administered questionnaire in this descriptive correlational study. Results indicate that the perception of control, the social influence, the moral norm, the attitude, the regularity, and the amount of parents’ physical activity explained 75% of the variance of parents’ intention. These findings could be used to develop an intervention to improve or consolidate parents’ intent to increase their child’s physical activity.

Full textThis report aims to encourage a better understanding of the role played by spirituality in recovery from a mental disorder. A phenomenological analysis of individual interviews was conducted with three people engaged in the recovery process. An analysis of a focus group interview with four social workers was also performed to describe and understand the consideration of spirituality in practice. The general structure of the participants’ experience in the recovery process is presented via two points to reveal that spirituality is the experience of union between “oneself” and the “other” as well as being an experience of self-transformation. Social workers understand the importance of spirituality when providing support for their clients but it also has its limits. The similarities and the differences between these two groups are discussed and recommendations are made. KEYWORDS: spirituality, recovery, mental disorder, phenomenology, social work, focus groups.

Full textThe general objective of this thesis is to study the forms of parental and teacher involvement in the school-family-community relationship and the impact of these forms on primary school achievement.. More specifically, it consists of three objectives, which correspond to the three articles of the thesis. The first objective, discussed in the first article, is the theoretical study of the links between the forms of parental involvement (IMPP), the socio-economic status of the family (SES), and the student's academic success. This objective is achieved through a metasynthesis based on the examination of meta-analyzes, the aim here being to identify the links that research has so far established between these three variables, parental involvement (IMPP), academic achievement and socio-economic status of the family (SES), taking into account the methodological difficulties of their study. In particular, the analysis found that different definitions of IMPP, SES, and success measurement tools contribute to differences in the outcomes of studies with respect to the impact of parental involvement on student achievement. The second objective of this thesis is to study the forms of IMPP from the SES of the family, the forms of teacher involvement (IMPE) and to identify the links with the achievements of primary school children. The reference frame is that of the bio-ecological model of Bronfenbrenner (1979) and the model of the shared influence of Epstein (2009). These two models allow the study of IMPP and IMPE from the activities of parents and teachers, the roles of parents and teachers, and interpersonal relationships. To do this, a quantitative approach was adopted. The study sample consisted of 239 students and parents, and 46 teachers. The results show that the forms of the IMPP, such as school-family communication and learning at home, are favored by the parents and at the same time that they do promote success. The study also confirms that the feeling of parental competence is an important vector in motivating parents to get involved in school and at home. Moreover, the results show that parents' education influences the success and the choice of the parents to get involved with their children more than family income. On the other hand, this study explores the forms of IMPE by asking the teachers what it actually put in place to solicit parental involvement at school and at home. For example, teachers promote family-school communication and information for home learning, which the goal of enabling parents to better help children at home. However, while the findings did not clearly reveal which forms of IMPE support success, this study helped to advance knowledge about the teachers’ role and actions in soliciting parent collaboration. The third objective aims at identifying the forms of IMPP and IMPE from the discourses of parents and teachers, and the strengths and weaknesses in the relationship between the actors. To do so, a qualitative approach was favored, using a sample of 14 primary teachers and 45 parents from 7 primary schools in the national capital, Québec. The results revealed the convergence in the forms of the IMPP and the IMPE as school-family communication and home studying. Moreover, by confronting the reasons, expectations and perceptions of the actors, the results revealed that the main reason for their motivation is the student's success. Generally, parents and teachers are sensitive to the same difficulties that surround their relationship: the distance between school and family, the lack of communication, the loss of parent's confidence in the teacher, lack of time etc. The partners recognized that the climate is generally conducive to collaboration. However, the strengths and weaknesses that emerged from the actors' discourse made it possible to nuance and better understand the tensions surrounding the relationship between parents and teachers.

Full textThis paper explores the enabling factors as well as challenges students may face in relation to the development of their personal sense of self-efficacy in the context of pedagogical supervision, as part of their initial training in social work at the baccalaureate level. A qualitative methodology was used through semi-structured interviews with six (6) participants. The results indicate that trust plays a decisive role in developing a sense of self-efficacy. The clarification of professional roles, the creation of a space for genuine dialogue, without judgment and shaped as a reflective practice between the supervisor and the supervised student, as well as a coaching approach, suited to the needs of this dyad, are elements that promote the development of a sense of self-efficacy.

Full textExposure to some chlorination by-products has been linked to adverse effects on fetal devel-opment. A population-based case-control study was conducted in a population of 1,430 women residing in the Quebec City region in order to assess the association between haloa-cetaldehydes and haloacetonitriles exposure during third trimester of pregnancy and intra-uterine growth retardation. Statistical interaction between these emerging by-products and those already subjected to regulatory control (trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs)) was also estimated. Known risk factors and individual multiroute exposure were included in our analyses, which aimed to compare the fourth quartile of exposure to the first three quartiles combined. No clear evidence of association was observed between exposure to haloacetaldehydes, haloacetonitriles, and intra-uterine growth retardation. However, a nega-tive interaction was observed between chloral hydrate and the compounds currently subjected to regulatory control (THMs and HAAs).

Full text@This study evaluates the effect of local employment policies in the province of Quebec, with the aim of assessing how an active employment policy and a local development policy are reconciled. The employment policies of the OECD countries initially favoured unified interventions at the national level. The trend towards decentralisation in the 1980s supported targeted local actions within a process of regionalisation in the area of active employment policies. In Quebec, the decentralisation of employment policies, developed as a result of a transfer of powers from the federal Canadian level to the provincial level of Quebec in 1997-1998, has been directed towards the local authority, the regional county municipalities (MCR). This geogrpahical analysis focuses on the social aspects of development :. The first part considers approaches to employment and unemployment, to job insecurity and to its social consequences. The second part considers the historical context of decentralisation in Quebec and evaluates the effects of the measures taken upon the unemployed. The final part, based on interviews with local individuals concerned, assesses the dynamism of local activity in the Greater Quebec Area. It examines the new theme of a social, solidarity-based economy aimed at integration, social justice and balanced local development. The thesis adopts both a local approach and a comparative approach : for the local approach, we compare the impact of decentralised measures for employment taken in the Quebec area community (the central urban district, Quebec being the provincial administrative capital)and in the Charlevoix-Est region, a rural and touristic peripheral zone. The comparative approach contrasts the opportunities offered to the local participants by decentralisation in a federal state with a liberal economy to those offered by the decentralisation of the unitary French state since 1982

Full textHundreds of people with a severe mental health disorder live in intermediate and family-type resources in the Quebec region. The main purpose of these structures is to integrate vulnerable people into the community. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of intermediate and family-type resources owners’ as well as their employees’ interventions on the community integration of their residents. This study uses Segal and Aviram’s (1978) community integration model as a conceptual framework. Their model proposes to divide the community integration into two concepts: internal and external integration. Internal integration refers to the evolution of residents in the housing environment, whereas external integration concerns the engagement of residents outside the residence. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with residents, owners, and employees of intermediate and family-type resources in the Quebec region. The sample was comprised of 12 actors involved in the field of mental health housing resources including five residents, four owners, and three employees. The data collected were analyzed using a thematic content analysis. The main interventions carried out by owners and employees to ensure the residents’ community integration are grouped into six categories: the establishment of rules, group activities, management of the consumption of goods and services, the formation of a residents’ committee, support for family relationships, and the sustainment of activities independently carried out by residents. It was shown that owners’ and employees’ interventions focus on two objectives: developing residents’ autonomy and ensuring their protection. Owners’ and employees’ authority status is used as one of the main tools to intervene with their customers. Results from this research confirm, but also contradict, previous findings regarding the tension between residents’ need for protection and autonomy, owners’ and employees’ authority status, and the impact of these individuals on the community integration of residents. Keywords: intermediate resource, family-type resource, community integration, mental health, mental illness, resident, autonomy, protection, authority.

Full textThe Bourlamaque pluto contains about ten post-metamorphic load gold deposits, formed by quartz-tourmaline-carbonate-sulphide veins in association with reverse mylonitic shear zones. The mineralization corresponds to a Riedel type shear zones network evolving from steeply dipping structures. Several north-dipping barren structures have been also recognized and interpreted as being related to a post-mineralization structural event. Interpretation of the ⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar data set suggests that the first fluids related to the mineralization are recorded by the amphibole of the Bourlamaque plutonic rock at ca. . 2605 Ma, synchronously with a regional exhumation phase. Geometry of age spectra from mylonitic shear zones is typical of dynamic recrstallization and consistent with indications of hydrothermal circulations possibly extending until ca. 2505 Ma in the gold veins themselves. The cyclicity of the plateau ages frequency peaks from white micas and the delay between quartz veins and mylonitic shear zones spectra are consistent with a fault-valve hydrothermal activity. Finally, ⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar dating of the Bourlamaque plutonic rock together with auriferous quartz veins and related mylonitic shear zones provides renewed perspective and elements for a better understanding of the global context of load gold deposits in the Val d'Or area
