<em>The ripe fruits of Citrullus colocynthis (L.) Schrad was collected in 12 different localities in Morocco to evaluate the variability of seed and oil yields. The measured traits are: seed weight (SW), seed number (SN), the weight of 100 seeds (W 100), seed oil content (OC), seeds yield (SY) and oil yield (OY). The seed oil content is ranging between 17 and 24 % of seed weight. The extrapolated seed yield among the accessions ranged from 156 to 816 Kg ha-1, with an overall mean of 413 Kg ha-1. Seed moisture content is a well-recognised index of safe storage. However, when in equilibrium with the storage environment it is merely an indicator of the relative humidity of the air, which is the primary regulator of the growth of moulds and insects. The relationship is influenced by the profile of the seed components. During the 1990s, significant increases in the seed oil content of evening primrose were achieved through plant breeding. This paper shows that the equilibrium moisture content of evening primrose seeds declines significantly with increasing oil content. Hence, the moisture

Abstract In refineries and oil and gas plants, air-cooled heat exchangers, so-called fin fan coolers, are fabricated from 22% Cr duplex stainless steels where type 300 series stainless steels would have problems with chloride pitting and chloride stress corrosion cracking (CSCC). Depending on application, limits are often specified for ferrite content and hardness (typically 35-65% for ferrite content and 320 HV maximum) during welding procedure qualification. Recent several cases of failures in hydroprocessing reactor effluent air cooler (REAC) system in refineries are now attracting worldwid

Abstract Corrosion inhibitors injected into production fluids can be an extremely effective method of mitigating corrosion in pipelines. In many cases, the use of expensive alloys can be avoided if the appropriate corrosion inhibitor is utilized, saving significant capital expenditure. In some cases however, corrosion control in the infrastructure may deteriorate over time. This is often the case when significant quantities of oily solids accumulate in the pipeline. This material, which is affectionately termed ‘schmoo’, has the potential to adsorb a significant quantity of inhibitor and forms

Abstract Hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) is seen as a promising thermochemical approach to convert wet and waste biomass feedstocks into biocrude oils and other valuable chemicals. One of the critical technical barriers that must be addressed for the industrial deployment of HTL technology is the corrosion of process core equipment, especially the refining reactors, due to the presence of the hot-compressed water medium, applied alkali catalyst, and aggressive intermediate and final products (such as aggressive sulfur and/or chlorinated compounds, organic acids) generated during the conversion

There is a demand in the food industry for natural solid vegetable oils. The use of sunflower oil with a high content of stearic acid prevents its hydrogenation in the manufacture of food products. The development of new lines of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) with an increased content of stearic acid may increase the demand for sunflower oil, a useful analogue of solid vegetable oils for special food purposes. We identified two inbred lines with a high content of stearic and oleic acids from a source with a high content of these acids, one of which, I5HSHO-1, is one-headed, the other, I5HSH

This is particularly true for peanut (Arachishypogaea), wherein pods are developed underground and are directly affected by the water condition.
