Cranberry seed oil is a fine quality oil which can be marketed for its many beneficial functions to human health due to the presence of a unique combination of omega- 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids and the high concentration of antioxidants. Although there is no available clear data about the oil percentage of cranberry seeds in literature, an experiment was done to analyze the oil yields obtained through different processes such as heat reflux, microwave and ultrasound, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Four insecticides were evaluated for their effect on onion seed production in Yuma County where two species on thrips (western flower and onion) were present in seed fields. Visual differences between treatments resultant from onion thrips damage was evident within 10 days after treatments were applied at flower opening. Lorsban, Ammo and Capture treatments provided control of onion thrips based on condition of seed heads. Six different seed treatments and one in furrow granular treatment were used in a field with a history of black root rot, caused by Thielaviopsis basicola. The treatment was a follow-up on the study done the previous year (1). Stand counts, root lengths and seed cotton yields were taken to see if any of the treatments increased stand counts or stimulated root growth. Thielaviopsis was not isolated in the plants this year, so the effect of the fungicides on this pathogen were not evaluated. Stand counts were, however, significantly influenced by the seed treatments.

A test was conducted to evaluate the effect of two seed treatments on seven varieties of alfalfa. The treatments included Rhizocote, Rhizocote plus Apron plus Rovral and untreated seed. Significantly fewer seedlings emerged for the coated than the uncoated seed when planted on a pound for pound basis. First cutting alfalfa yields were neither increased nor decreased as a result of the seed treatments.

Thirty six lines selected from Composite Cross XXXII material were planted in a randomized block design with four replications.
