W artykule ukazano kabalistyczne (tj. z obrębu średniowiecznego i późniejszego mistycyzmu żydowskiego) ujęcie idei poznania, mianowicie poznania określanego i warunkowanego przez seksualną unię mężczyzny i kobiety. Ponieważ kabała bazuje na tekstach Tanachu, przeto elementem kluczowym jest tu werset z Księgi Rodzaju (4,1). Pojawiające się w nim słowo jād‛a (ידע) (‘obcował’/’poznał’) [Adam z Ewą/Ewę] zestawiane jest kolejno, na podstawie jego leksyki, z kategorią da‘at (דעת) – ‘wiedzą’, ‘poznaniem’ oraz nazwą kabalistycznej sefiry. W związku z rolą odgrywaną w mistycznej teologii judaizmu przez tę ostatnią, ukazane zostały zależności seksualne zachodzące w dominium sefirotycznym, które stanowią de facto wzorzec dla relacji ludzkich. Ideałem owych relacji na planie ziemskim jest osiągnięcie między mężczyzną i kobietą pełnego (skutkiem wydarzającego się seksualnego ziwwuga kadisza, zespolenia przeciwnych, ale komplementarnych, pierwiastków) poznania drugiej osoby, a także pewnego typu duchowe poznanie Boga, który w kabale jest coincidentia oppositorum oraz sefirotyczną strukturą.

Abstract:
Interleukin 17 (IL-17) cytokines play a crucial role in mediating inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. A unique intracellular signaling domain termed SEFIR is found within all IL-17 receptors (IL-17Rs) as well as the key adaptor protein Act1. SEFIR-mediated protein–protein interaction is a crucial step in IL-17 cytokine signaling. Here, the 2.3 Å resolution crystal structure of the SEFIR domain of IL-17RA, the most commonly shared receptor for IL-17 cytokine signaling, is reported. The structure includes the complete SEFIR domain and an additional α-helical C-terminal extension, which pack tightly together to form a compact unit. Structural comparison between the SEFIR domains of IL-17RA and IL-17RB reveals substantial differences in protein topology and folding. The uniquely long insertion between strand βC and helix αC in IL-17RA SEFIR is mostly well ordered, displaying a helix (αCC′ins) and a flexible loop (CC′). The DD′ loop in the IL-17RA SEFIR structure is much shorter; it rotates nearly 90° with respect to the counterpart in the IL-17RB SEFIR structure and shifts about 12 Å to accommodate the αCC′inshelix without forming any knots. Helix αC was identified as critical for its interaction with Act1 and IL-17-stimulated gene expression. The data suggest that the heterotypic SEFIR–SEFIR associationviahelix αC is a conserved and signature mechanism specific for IL-17 signaling. The structure also suggests that the downstream motif of IL-17RA SEFIR together with helix αC could provide a composite ligand-binding surface for recruiting Act1 during IL-17 signaling.

Abstract Based on palaeography and the supposed relative chronology of the three Aramaic steles from Sefire, various dates in the first half of the 8th century BCE have been proposed for the stele Sefire I. In this article, I propose a new reading in the inscription of part of the name of Aššur-dān III, one of the kings of Assyria from the first half of the 8th century BCE. This new reading, together with other available data, especially those gleaned from Neo-Assyrian written sources, provides the basis for a more precise dating of the inscription on stele Sefire I.

AbstractThe medieval expression of Jewish esotericism known as Kabbalah is distinguished by its imaging of the divine as ten hypostatic sefirot that structure the Godhead and generate the cosmos. Since Gershom Scholem, the preeminent twentieth-century scholar of Kabbalah, declared the term sefirah (sg.) as deriving from “sapphire”—pointedly rejecting its connection to the Greek σφαῖρα—scholars have paid scant attention to the profound indebtedness of the visual and verbal lexicon of the kabbalists to the Greco-Arabic scientific tradition. The present paper seeks to redress this neglect through an examination of the appropriation of the diagrammatic-iconographical and rhetorical languages of astronomy and natural philosophy in medieval and early modern kabbalistic discourse. This study will place particular emphasis on the adoption-adaptation and ontologization of the dominant schemata of these most prestigious fields of medieval science by classical kabbalists, what it reveals about their self-understanding, and how it contributed to the perception of Kabbalah as a “divine science” well into the early modern period.

İzmir Haçlı Seferi, Haçlıların 1291'de Akka'yı kaybetmesinden sonra düzenlediği Haçlı harekâtları arasında en etkilisidir. Bu sefer sayesinde Aşağı İzmir adı verilen Liman Kale 1402'ye kadar Hristiyanların elinde kalmıştır. XIV. yüzyılda Türk denizci Ghazileri Ege Denizi'ndeki pek çok yerde akınlarda bulunmuştu. Önce Menteşe Beyliği'yle başlayan bu faaliyetler XIV. yüzyılın ikinci çeyreğinde Aydın Beyliği'yle devam etmiştir. Bu beylikte en kuvvetli lider olarak ön plana çıkan Aydınoğlu Umur Bey'in etkinlikleri Papalık dâhil Akdeniz'de bulunan Katolik güçlerinin tepkisi çekmiştir. Bu nedenle ona karşı harekete geçmekte gecikmediler. Avignon Papaları İzmir'de Haçlı egemenliği için özel bir çaba harcamışlardır. Kıbrıs Krallığı, Venedik ve Papalık donanmaları hep birlikte Umur Bey'e karşı mücadele ettiler. İki aşamalı olan İzmir Haçlı Seferi'nin birinci aşaması başarıyla sonuçlansa da ikinci aşaması sonuçsuz neticelenmiştir. Bu tarihten sonra Hospitalye şövalyeleri ile Kıbrıs Krallığı başarıyla sonuçlanan 1365 tarihli İskenderiye Haçlı Seferine katıldılar. Pek çok girişime rağmen ilerleyen yıllarda bütün Hristiyan âlemi doğuda yükselen yeni Osmanlı tehdidiyle baş başa kalacaktır.

W artykule niniejszym twierdzę, że idea współmierności, czy też odpowiedniości, dziesięciu wymiarów przestrzennych teorii strun z dziesięcioma sefirot kabały zaproponowana przez Nathana Aviezera w jego artykule "Kabała, nauka i stworzenie Wszechświata" nie posiada podstaw w samych naukach kabalistycznych. Wydaje się, że pomysł Aviezera (posiłkującego się na kabałą luriańską), by utożsamić trzy górne sefirot z trzema zwykłymi wymiarami — wymiarami przez nas doświadczanymi (góra-dół, wschód-zachód, północ-południe) — a siedem dolnych sefirot z siedmioma wymiarami przestrzennymi, które — zgodnie z teorią strun — zwinęły się w procesie stworzenia, w rezultacie czego nie są przez nas postrzegane, jest odwróceniem doktryny kabalistycznej. Kabała utrzymuje bowiem, że trzy górne sefirot są transcendentne, ukryte i niepoznawalne, podczas gdy to w istocie siedem niższych sefirot jest poznawalnych i dostępnych ludzkiemu doświadczeniu.

ABSTRACT Our study aimed to perform the face and content validity of Self-Estimated Functional Inability because of Pain (SEFIP) for workers, here called the SEFIP-work questionnaire. This is a questionnaire validity study. Our group previously translated and adapted the original version of the SEFIP, which was developed to investigate musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction to be applied to dancers (SEFIP-dance). However, due to the broad scope of the SEFIP-dance, we made changes and adaptations in the Brazilian Portuguese version of the SEFIP-dance to allow its use in workers. Therefore, face and content validity were performed for the development of the SEFIP-work based on opinions of committee of occupational disease and rehabilitation experts. After face and content validity, this SEFIP-work version was applied to 30 working individuals with musculoskeletal pain. The participants were native Brazilian Portuguese speakers aged 18 years and older. Thus, three changes were made to the questionnaire. All participants understood the SEFIP-work items and alternatives. The average total SEFIP-work score was 6.59 (SD=3.66), with the item “parte inferior das costas” (lower back) being the most marked (n=28; 93.33%), with an average score of 1.18 (SD=0.73). In conclusion, the Brazilian Portuguese version of SEFIP-work presents an acceptable level of understanding by workers in the investigation of musculoskeletal pain or discomfort.

Abstract:
IL-17 is the founding member of a novel family of proinflammatory cytokines that defines a new class of CD4+ effector T cells, termed “Th17.” Mounting evidence suggests that IL-17 and Th17 cells cause pathology in autoimmunity, but little is known about mechanisms of IL-17RA signaling. IL-17 through its receptor (IL-17RA) activates genes typical of innate immune cytokines, such as TNFα and IL-1β, despite minimal sequence similarity in their respective receptors. A previous bioinformatics study predicted a subdomain in IL-17-family receptors with homology to a Toll/IL-1R (TIR) domain, termed the “SEFIR domain.” However, the SEFIR domain lacks motifs critical for bona fide TIR domains, and its functionality was never verified. Here, we used a reconstitution system in IL-17RA-null fibroblasts to map functional domains within IL-17RA. We demonstrate that the SEFIR domain mediates IL-17RA signaling independently of classic TIR adaptors, such as MyD88 and TRIF. Moreover, we identified a previously undescribed“TIR-like loop” (TILL) required for activation of NF-κB, MAPK, and up-regulation of C/EBPβ and C/EBPδ. Mutagenesis of the TILL domain revealed a site analogous to the LPSd mutation in TLR4, which renders mice insensitive to LPS. However, a putative salt bridge typically found in TIR domains appears to be dispensable. We further identified a C-terminal domain required for activation of C/EBPβ and induction of a subset IL-17 target genes. This structure-function analysis of a IL-17 superfamily receptor reveals important differences in IL-17RA compared with IL-1/TLR receptors.

Artykuł podejmuje problem stworzenia Wszechświata z punktu widzenia nauczania kabały (gałęzi judaizmu mistycznego) i argumentuje za podobieństwami pomiędzy tym ujęciem a współczesną hipotezą naukową — teorią strun. Pomysł ten bazuje na założonym przez autora paralelizmie pomiędzy dziesięcioma wymiarami przestrzennymi teorii strun i dziesięcioma sefirot kabały. Rolę centralną odgrywa tu kabalistyczna (z kabały luriańskiej) koncepcja szewirat ha-kelim („rozbicie naczyń”). Autor twierdzi, że trzy górne, „nienaruszone” podczas procesu stworzenia, sefirot (to jest kelim) są odpowiednikami trzech percypowanych wymiarów przestrzennych (góra-dół, wschód-zachód, północ-południe), a siedem dolnych, „rozbitych”, sefirot (kelim) to odpowiedniki zwiniętych w procesie stworzenia siedmiu wymiarów przestrzeni (niedoświadczanych przez ludzi), o których mówi teoria strun.

En este artículo se analizan siete poemas de Todas las piedras del muro, del costarricense Laureano Albán. Se fundamenta teóricamente cómo este poemario sería el resultado de las interpretaciones-escrituras-revelaciones de la Tanaj, actualización de la Cábala Zohárica y, por tanto, reflejo de las sefirot. Metodológicamente se clasifican los poemas según las sefirot y se interpretan según la significación cabalística de estas emanaciones. Los poemas estudiados son aquellos en los cuales el sujeto lírico trasvasa específicamente la luz de las sefirot maljut, iesod, hod, tiferet y biná, mediante las figuras femeninas de las tejedoras, la Torá, la amada o hermana espiritual, la peregrina y la madre. Estas materializan los arquetipos de la madre y el anima; al tiempo que evocan los mitos judaicos de la Šejiná, el Génesis, el paraíso y el Mesías.

OBJECTIVES: To provide an overview of measurement properties of the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center Questionnaire (OSTRCQ), pain visual analogue scale (VAS-pain) and Self-Estimated Functional Inability Because of Pain (SEFIP) scale in dance populations, and to investigate the relationship between these questionnaires in pre-professional contemporary dancers. METHODS: A search of PubMed was conducted and studies were included if they 1) used one of the three questionnaires within a dance population and 2) assessed the reliability, validity, or responsiveness of the questionnaire(s). 134 dance students (67.5% female; 19.4±1.5 yrs) were prospectively followed during 1 academic year. The OSTRCQ, VAS-pain, SEFIP, and injuries were self-assessed on a monthly basis. Pearson correlation analyses and repeated measures correlation analyses were performed to identify possible associations. RESULTS: The literature overview resulted in two studies describing measurement properties of the SEFIP (n=1) and OSTRCQ (n=1). Prevalence of injuries ranged from 23.1 to 42.6%. Weak monthly correlations (r=0.14–0.50) were found between OSTRCQ and SEFIP. Moderate monthly correlations (r=0.54–0.71) were found between OSTRCQ and VAS-pain, and weak/moderate monthly correlations (r=0.30–0.62) were found between SEFIP and VAS-pain. Repeated measures correlation demonstrated a moderate overall correlation between ORSTCQ and VAS-pain (r=0.57), with weak overall correlations between ORSTCQ and SEFIP (r=0.26) and SEFIP and VAS-pain (r=0.34). CONCLUSIONS: Studies on measurement properties of questionnaires in dance are scarce. Weak/moderate associations were found between the OSTRCQ, SEFIP, and the VAS-pain questionnaires. The attractiveness of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is increasing worldwide among producers and consumers. Depending on its characteristics, the pomegranate may be intended for fresh consumption, for industrial processing, or for medical purposes. This study aims to assess the variability in terms of mineral content and biochemical properties of ten selected pomegranate cultivars grown in the center of Morocco to better know their fruit potential. Mineral composition, organic acids, total polyphenols, anthocyanins content, individual phenolic compounds, and antioxidant activity were determined in pomegranate juices. Results showed significant differences between cultivars. The sour cultivar “Lhamdha” is rich in organic acids, gallagyl esters, and ellagitannins and showed high antioxidant activity. It could therefore be used as a source for nutraceutical substances. The cultivar “Sefri” of Lalla Takerkoust showed important content of mineral elements, especially iodine (I), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), and silver (Ag). The cultivars “Sefri” of Ouled Abdellah, “Sefri” of Beni Meskine, “Lahmer,” and “Marrakchia” are suitable for production of fresh pomegranate juice with high potential of health benefits. In fact, they are rich in anthocyanins, polyphenols, and oxalic and ascorbic acids and they presented high antioxidant activity. While the cultivars “Sefri” of Sour Laaz, “Sefri” of Tmassine, “Sefri” of Sidi Abdellah, and “Bzeq Tir” could be intended for fresh fruit consumption. Cluster analysis has revealed the divergence of cultivars with the same appellation “Sefri” confirming the problem of homonymy or synonymy in the pomegranate cultivars appellation. This study clearly demonstrates the nutritional and functional potential of the studied cultivars and the importance of their valorisation, especially for food and pharmaceutical industries.

SEFRE (Shoulder-Elbow-Forearm Robotics Economic) rehabilitation system is presented in this paper. SEFRE Rehab System is composed of a robotic manipulator and an exoskeleton, so-called Forearm Supportive Mechanism (FSM). The controller of the system is developed as the Master PC consisting of five modules, that is, Intelligent Control (IC), Patient Communication (PC), Training with Game (TG), Progress Monitoring (PM), and Patient Supervision (PS). These modules support a patient to exercise with SEFRE in six modes, that is, Passive, Passive Stretching, Passive Guiding, Initiating Active, Active Assisted, and Active Resisted. To validate the advantages of the system, the preclinical trial was carried out at a national rehabilitation center. Here, the implement of the system and the preclinical results are presented as the verifications of SEFRE.

The Self-Estimated Functional Inability because of Pain (SEFIP) questionnaire is a simple tool used to define the pain status in different body regions of performers in aesthetic sports. In this study we revalidated the SEFIP in a sample of nonprofessional female university dancers (n = 45; mean age, 22.3 yrs). The dancers were divided into two groups according to their previous experience in dance and aesthetic-based sports: experienced (n = 24) and nonexperienced (n = 21). SEFIP was measured before and after the 6-week dance and aesthetic-based training program. Morphologic variables were measured at study entry and included body weight, height, body mass index (BMI), calf circumference, sum of two skinfolds, and percent body fat. We analyzed 1) the differences between experienced and nonexperienced dancers in all variables, 2) pre- and post-training differences in SEFIP, 3) pre- and post-training differences in pain sensation for each body region, and 4) the prediction of the SEFIP score from morphologic variables in the experienced and nonexperienced subjects. Statistical analysis using the t-test found no significant differences between the groups but identified significant pre- vs. post-training differences in SEFIP in the sample taken as a whole. The nonparametric sign test showed a significant pre- to post-training decrease in pain sensation in the calf region. Multiple regression analysis revealed BMI as a significant predictor of the SEFIP, but only for the nonexperienced dancers. In order to avoid pain occurrence in university dancers, previous training of the calf, thigh, and back muscles is suggested, especially in those subjects with BMI > 21 kg/m2.

Bu uygulamalar, devrin teknolojik ve askerî şartları kadar toplumsal ve ekonomik kaynaklardan da etkilenmiştir. Osmanlı Devleti de uzun tarihi boyunca dirlik dağıtımı, devşirme, paralı askerlik, zorunlu askerlik gibi çeşitli usullerde asker alma yöntemi uygulamıştır. Osmanlılar normal asker alma yöntemlerinin yetersiz kaldığı olağan dışı durumlarda nefîr-i âmm uygulamasıyla ahali içerisinden savaşa elverişli kişileri sefere sürmüştür. Normal şartlarda Osmanlı toplum düzeninde ahalinin asker olarak sefere sürülmesine sıcak bakılmamaktadır. Ancak böylesi bir durum, büyük bir düşman saldırısı ile karşı karşıya kalındığında ve muvazzaf birliklerin bu düşmana cevap vermesinin mümkün görülmediği zamanlarda uygulanmak zorunda kalınmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti, erken dönemlerden yıkılışına kadarki süreçte önemli birçok savaşta bu yöntemle ahaliyi sefere sürmüştür. İlki 1396 Niğbolu Savaşında, sonuncusu 1915 I. Dünya Harbinde olmak üzere defalarca nefîr-i âmm ilan edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada Osmanlı'nın zorunluluk sebebiyle sistem dışı olarak uyguladığı bu yöntemin erken dönem örneklerine bakılacaktır. Bu yapılırken konunun fıkhi boyutu ve teorik çerçevesi ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır. Ayrıca ahalinin böylesi bir davete ne şekilde karşılık verdiği bu çalışmanın cevabını bulmayı hedeflediği sorulardandır. Son olarak toplumsal statüsü reaya olan ahalinin bu yolla statü atlama imkânına sahip olup olamadığı incelenecektir.

Abstract This article explores the complex interweaving of kabbalistic and Christological concepts within the kabbalistic “teaching panel” (Lehrtafel) of Princess Antonia of Württemberg. The essay discusses the artwork in the context of visual representations of the ten sefirot, the divine attributes or vessels in Jewish mysticism. Executed as an altarpiece for the church in Bad Teinach in Southern Germany, the work integrates the sefirot into a pansophic concept that served devotional and educational purposes with a salvific goal. The article argues that, with the Lehrtafel, Antonia and her teachers created a devotional object that could be accessed by both regular Christian laity and experts who possessed deeper knowledge of Kabbalah.

Czyni to w oparciu o fundamentalną ideę mistyki judaizmu – kategorię dziesięciu sefirot, które w tutejszym systemie etycznym zostały, każda z osobna, skorelowane z pożądanymi i zalecanymi ludzkimi sposobami postępowania, zachowania się wobec bliźniego. Rezultatem zalecenia wehalachta bederachaw, tj. idei naśladowania Boga (imitatio dei) – wyrażającej się tu w regule naśladowania sefirot, tj. uwewnętrz¬niania, „zaszczepiania” w sobie cnót, cech moralnych immanentnych poszczególnym sefirotycznym atrybutom (których istotą pozostaje przymiot miłosierdzia) – jest człowiek doskonały etycznie, ergo podobający się Bogu, co stanowi wartość najwyższą religijnego Żyda.
