Šiame magistro baigiamajame darbe, remiantis Lietuvos Respublikos Konstitucinio Teismo jurispurdencija, nagrinėjama Lietuvos Respublikos Konstitucijoje, Seimo statute ir kituose įstatymuose įtvirtinta Seimo įgaliojimų apimtis ir principai pačiam nusistatyti savo struktūrą ir darbo tvarką; atskleidžiama Seimo struktūros samprata pagal 1992 m. spalio 25 d. Lietuvos Respublikos Konstituciją; analizuojama konstitucinės formuluotės, kad Seimo statutas turi įstatymo galią, jos samprata ir turinys; nagrinėjamas Seimo politinių ir organizacinių struktūrinių vienetų teisinis statusas ir funkcionavimo teisiniai aspektai bei su tuo susijusios praktikoje kylančios teisinės problemos.
Pirmoje šio darbo dalyje yra aptariami svarbesni Lietuvos Respublikos 1918–1940 metų konstituciniai parlamento raidos ir organizavimo teisiniai aspektai. Kalbama apie Lietuvos Valstybės Tarybą (laikinąją Lietuvos parlamentinę instituciją), Steigiamojo Seimo bei pirmųjų Lietuvos Respublikos Seimų raidą ir organizacinės struktūros teisinius aspektus. Ne mažiau svarbus Lietuvos parlamentarizmo istorijoje yra ir 1990–1992 metų Lietuvos Respublikos Aukščiausiosios Tarybos-Atkuriamojo Seimo laikotarpis, todėl šiame darbe taip pat aptariami ir šios išskirtinės parlamentinės institucijos statuso ir struktūros organizavimo teisiniai aspektai.

[toliau žr. visą tekstą]In this master's thesis on the basis of the Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, there is considered the extent of Parliament‘s authority legitimated in the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, the Seimas‘ Statute and other laws and the code to set its own structure and procedure. Here is also discovered the concept of Seimas structure in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania of the 25th of October, 1992. Here are analyzed the constitutional formulation that the Seimas’ Statute has a force of the law; as well as the concept and content; there is analyzed the legal status and functioning of the legal aspects and the related legal problems arising in practice. At the first part of this work there are discussed the most important aspects of development and organizational law aspects in the Republic of Lithuania during the period of the year 1918–1940. This is the Council of the State of Lithuania (provisional Lithuanian parliamentary authority), the evolution of Constituent Assembly and the first Lithuanian Parliaments and the legal aspects of their organizational structure. Disertacijoje siekiama išanalizuoti Lietuvos Respublikos Seimo narių informacinės elgsenos ypatumus priimant sprendimus ir nustatyti jų elgseną lemiančius veiksnius. Atsižvelgiant į išskirtinę parlamento narių galią ir autoritetą priimant reikšmingiausius valstybei ir jos žmonėms sprendimus, jų ypatingą statusą (kaip Tautos atstovai, savo priimamais įstatymais ir kitais sprendimais jie įprasmina Tautos valią), politikų, kaip vienų svarbiausių politinio proceso dalyvių ir sprendimų priėmėjų, informacinės elgsenos pažinimas yra itin svarbus, aktualus ir reikšmingas, nes informacija yra neatsiejama nuo politinių sprendimų ir yra pamatinė jų dalis. Siekiant disertacijoje išsikelto tikslo teoriškai apibrėžti esminiai parlamentarų informacinę elgseną lemiantys veiksniai ir sukonstruotas struktūrinis modelis, apimantis pagrindinius parlamentarų informacinės elgsenos komponentus ir jai įtaką darančius veiksnius; atliktas empirinis tyrimas, siekiant nustatyti Seimo narių elgsenos ypatumus ieškant informacijos ir naudojant ją sprendimų priėmimo kontekste bei ištirti, kaip individualūs ir organizaciniai veiksniai lemia jų elgseną. [toliau žr. visą tekstą]The thesis aims to analyse the peculiarities of information behaviour of members of the Lithuanian Seimas in decision-making processes, and identify factors conditioning that behaviour. With regard to the exclusive power and authority of the MPs in making decisions that are of utmost importance to the state and its people, their exceptional status (being representatives of the Nation and adopting laws and various resolutions they embody the will of the Nation), the cognition of information behaviour of politicians, i.e. decision-makers who are among the most important actors of the political process, is critical, relevant and ponderable, as information being the foundation of political decisions is their indispensable element. Pursuing the goal set up in the thesis, the author offers a theoretical definition of the key determinants of MPs’ information behaviour and frames a structural model encompassing the basic elements of MPs’ information behaviour and factors influential of it; presents an empiric research that was conducted with a view to establish the peculiarities in the Seimas members’ behaviour when searching for information and utilizing it in the context of decision-making, as well as investigates in what way individual and organizational factors determine their behaviour. L'objectif de ce travail est de réaliser des substrats pour l’effet SEIRA (surface enhanced IR absorption) pour mesurer de faibles volumes de gaz ambiants possédant une signature moléculaire de 3,3 μm à 5,1 μm en exploitant la forte amplification de champ électrique due à la résonance plasmon de surface localisés. A cette fin, nous avons démontré la modulation des résonances de plasmon de surface localisées MIR (LSPR) dans les nanocristaux de ZnO dopés (NCs) dopés à Ga ou Al ainsi que dans des nanofils (NWs) de ZnO dopés Ga (GZO) et dans des nanofils coeur/coquille de ZnO/GZO. En ce qui concerne l’accordabilité de MIR LSPR dans les NC, nous avons modulé la résonance plasmon de surface dans des NC de ZnO dopés Ga et Al, de 3 à 5 μm en faisant varier la teneur en Al et en Ga de 3 à 9 at.%. L’incorporation des dopants s’est révélée homogène jusqu’à 6%. Au-delà (9%), l’incorporation était fortement hétérogène, révélant que la limite de solubilité était atteinte. Les NC présentent une faible activation des impuretés. L'activation était aussi faible que 8%. Les LSPR présentaient également un fort élargissement (largeur-à-mi-hauteur FWHM). Pour accroitre l'activation des dopants, nous avons synthétisés les NC dans des conditions pauvres en O et en passivant les NC synthétisés dans des conditions riches en O (en les isolant dans des matrices telles que Al2O3 et SiO2). Nous avons ainsi augmenté l'activation de 8% à 20% pour les deux stratégies. De plus, l'incorporation des NC dans les matrices a réduit l'élargissement spectral de moitié (de 2200 cm-1 pour les NC déposés à 1100 cm-1 pour les NC noyés en matrice). En correspondance, les effets d’auto-assemblage des nanocristaux sur leur LSPR ont été modélisés par simulation FDTD. Cela a fourni des indications quant aux mécanismes responsable de l’élargissement inhomogènes des LSPR de nanocristaux de GZO. Outre les nanoparticules, nous avons étudié des nanofils ZnO dopés Ga (GZO) et coeur/coquille (ZnO/GZO) synthétisés par CVD d’organométalliques . La première conclusion importante est que le gallium produit un fort effet surfacatnt lors de la croissance MOCVD de GZO. Au lieu de former des nanofils de section hexagonale, l’introduction de Ga modifie nettement l’énergie de surface des faces latérales et conduit à al formation de structures de type « sapins de Noël ». Ce constat est aussi valable pour les coquilles de GZO déposées sur coeur de ZnO. Dans ce cas, les coquilles démouillent et forment des structures hiérarchiques en branches. Concernant les propriétés optiques de ces objets, les mesures de FTIR-photo acoustiques ont démontré une signature d’absorption reliée à la présence de Ga et pouvant être accordée selon la teneur en Ga. Cette absorption reproduit le comportement d’une résonance plasmon de surface. Cette résonance a pu être accordée de 1600 à 1900 cm-1The scope of this thesis is about developing SEIRA (surface enhanced IR absorption) platform to probe low volumes of environmental gases that possess molecular signature from 3.3 μm to 5.1 μm leveraging the high field amplification of localised surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). To realise SEIRA, we demonstrated tuning MIR LSPR in Al or Ga doped ZnO nanocrystals (NCs) as well as in GZO or core-shell (ZnO/GZO) nanowires (NWs). Regarding tuning MIR LSPR in NCs, we demonstrated tunable MIR LSPR in Ga and Al doped ZnO NCs from 3 to 5 μm varying the Al or Ga content from 3 to 9 at.%. The incorporation of dopant was homogeneous up to 6%. At 9% dopant concentration, the incorporation was inhomogeneous, revealing the solubility limit has been reached. However, the NCs exhibited low activation of impurities. The activation was as low as 8%. The LSPR were characterised by large broadening as well. In order to enhance the dopant activation, we synthesized the NCs in O-poor conditions as well as passivated the NCs fabricated in O-rich condictions (by isolating and embedding them in matrices such as Al2O3 and SiO2 matrices). Both strategies improved the dopant activation from 8% up to 20%. Moreover, for assemblies of NCs dispersed in matrices, the broadening (FWHM) of the LSPR was reduced by half (from 2200 cm-1 in as-deposited NCs to 1100 cm-1 in embedded NCs). Correspondingly, the effect of the self-assembly of the nanocrystals on their LSPR was modeled by FDTD simulation and provided hindsight into the mechanisms responsible for the heterogeneous broadening of the LSPR. Finally, we have studied Ga-doped ZnO (GZO) and core-shell (ZnO/GZO) NW synthesized by MOCVD. The first important conclusion is that Ga plays a major surfactant role during the MOCVD growth of GZO. Instead of leading to hexagonal NWs, the introduction of Ga during the synthesis led to faceted “Christmas-tree” like architectures. The same observation held for core-shell ZnO-GZO nanowires; in the latter case, the GZO shell resulted in a dewetting branched architecture. Regarding their optical properties, photo-acoustic FTIR measurements revealed an absorption feature related to the Ga content, likely to be assigned to a plasmonic effect. Nagrinėjamos parlamentarizmo ištakos Lietuvoje, atskleidžiant, jog jau LDK laikais egzistavo parlamentarizmo užuomazgų. Aptariami Lietuvos tarpukario Seimai bei „Lietuvos TSR Aukščiausiosios Tarybos“, kodėl jos nėra ir negali būti laikomos Lietuvos valstybės parlamentais. Remiantis Konstitucinio Teismo jurisprudencija, nagrinėjami Lietuvos Respublikos Seimo teisiniai santykiai su vykdomąja ir teismine valdžiomis. Atskleidžiamas Seimo nario kaip Tautos atstovo teisinis statusas - parlamentaro mandato turinys, įgaliojimų įgijimo ir pasibaigimo teisiniai pagrindai, parlamentaro teisių ir pareigių visuma bei veiklos garantijos. Taip pat nagrinėjamos konstitucinės nuostatos, kuriomis remdamasis Seimas gali ir turi nustatyti savo struktūrą ir darbo tvarką.This work analyses the constitutional concept of the Seimas as representation of the Nation. Under the Constitution, only Members of the Seimas are representatives of the Nation and only the Seimas is the representation of the Nation. One of the most important features according to which a state institution is to be ascribed to the representation of the Nation is that it is a collegiate state institution, which is comprised from representatives of the Nation and which adopts decisions only after debates, only by majority of votes and by taking account of various opinions. Uncovering nation’s concept of sovereignty as the only holder, continues Nation which by delegating part of its sovereignty is legitimizing the power of parliament to act on behalf of the Nation. Examined is the outcomes of parliamentary in Lithuania, disclosing the fact that might of started forming as late as times of Great Lithuanian Kingdom. Also discussed is in-between war period the Seimas as well as Highest Council of Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, why it can’t be treated as true Lithuanian parliament. Considering Constitutional Court jurisprudence, analyzed is relationship between the Seimas and executive as well as judiciary powers. Esta dissertação apresenta uma leitura da produção artística do cantor e compositor Raul Seixas, levando em consideração os fragmentos mais significativos, nos seus diferentes cenários de atuação: composição de letras, apresentação em Shows, entrevistas e videoclipes. Exploramos os lugares comuns popularmente associados à personagem Seixas e suas canções, tais como “Metamorfose ambulante”, “Maluco beleza” e “Sociedade Alternativa” como sendo conceitos abertos à discussão de temas sociais, estéticos e existenciais. Com auxílio dos pensadores: Espinosa, Nietzsche e Deleuze, desenrolamos os efeitos expressivos desses conceitos criados por Raul e seus companheiros de composição, juntamente com a expressão performática do cantor. Além dos temas da ética, moral e existência, damos ênfase à ideia de “Metamorfose” que se relaciona, para nós, à noção de paradoxo ou paradoxias, no sentido de esvaziamento da doxa moralizadora. O “paradoxo”, como um pensamento e estilo, é também o motor gerador de escrita do seguinte trabalho.
This dissertation presents a reading of singer and songwriter Raul Seixas artistic production, taking in account the most significant fragments, in its different performance scenario: songwriting, shows performance, interviews and video clips. Stock phrases popularly associated to character Seixas and his songs, as such “Walking Metamorphose”; “Cool Crazy” e “Alternative Society” as concepts open to discussion of social, esthetic and existential themes are exploited. With the help of thinkers such Spinoza, Nietzsche and Deleuze, are unfold expressive effects these concepts created by Raul and his composition companions, in conjunction with singer’s performing expression. Besides ethical, moral and existential themes, is emphasized the idea of “metamorphosis”, that is related to idea of paradox or paradoxias as emptying of moralizer doxa. “Paradox” as thinking and style is the booster of this paper too.

The Randomized Gauss-Seidel Method (RGS) is an iterative algorithm that solves overdetermined systems of linear equations Ax = b. This paper studies an update on the RGS method, the Randomized Block Gauss-Seidel Method. At each step, the algorithm greedily minimizes the objective function L(x) = kAx bk2 with respect to a subset of coordinates. This paper describes a Randomized Block Gauss-Seidel Method (RBGS) which uses a randomized control method to choose a subset at each step. This algorithm is the first block RGS method with an expected linear convergence rate which can be described by the properties of the matrix A and its column submatrices. The analysis demonstrates that RBGS improves RGS more when given appropriate column-paving of the matrix, a partition of the columns into well-conditioned blocks. The main result yields a RBGS method that is more e cient than the simple RGS method.

Thesis (MSc)--Stellenbosch University, 2015.ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Soil is one of the most complex and understudied terrestrial habitats, and it comprises a wide range of organisms that affect the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems. Despite the importance of these below-ground fauna, our understanding of this diversity remains limited, especially in the Cape Floristic Region (CFR), where higher plants and other more conspicuous invertebrates have been better represented in the literatures. The main aim of this thesis is to provide the first insights into the taxonomic, cryptic and spatial diversity of one of the more diverse Collembola genera, Seira (Collembola: Entomobryidae: Seirinae), in the Fynbos and Southern Afrotemperate forest habitats of the CFR. Collembola constitute an important component of terrestrial biodiversity and are essential for ecosystem functioning. The thesis is divided into two data chapters. The first data chapter examines the mitochondrial barcoding COI (Cytochrome-c oxidase subunit I) gene of 496 Seira specimens from 41 Fynbos and forest sites. Discrete Molecular Operational Taxonomic Units (MOTUs) are identified within Seira. Furthermore, divergence times are estimated and tentatively used to propose historical triggers for the diversification of Seira. Habitat specificity of Seira is assessed through phylogenetic reconstruction using Parsimony and Bayesian analyses based on the nucleotide and amino acid sequences. Genetic divergence indicates that Seira is composed of at least 91 MOTUs, suggesting that morphological taxonomy has vastly under-estimated the richness of this genus by at least four folds. Most of the MOTUs are highly habitat specific and geographically localised. The reconstruction of an evolutionary time frame of these lineages reveals several deep diversifications in the Miocene and a spate of more recent radiations in the Pleistocene and Holocene. Palaeo-environmental fluctuations and vegetation composition shifts are hypothesised as having increased the environmental complexity of the region and this may have influenced the diversification patterns of Seira. In the second data chapter, the spatial variation of Seira diversity is examined and compared between and within two major habitat types, Fynbos and forest, across nine study sites. Abiotic variables were recorded and compared for the investigation of environmental differences among habitat types. The habitat specificity of Seira is assessed, as well as the relative effects of habitat types and study sites on assemblage structure. Species richness of Seira is higher in Fynbos than in forest, and this could be due to the high heterogeneity of niches and resources created by the steep environmental and floristic gradients in the Fynbos habitats. Perhaps one of the most striking results is the high levels of beta diversity exhibited by Seira. The spatial turnover of the Seira assemblage is complete or nearly complete among and within habitat types across study sites within the CFR. Low dispersal abilities and consequently isolated evolutionary histories may account for the strong assemblage differences within the same habitat type of different study sites. However, the substantial differences in assemblage composition between adjacent habitat types in the same site are likely to be the result of the contrasting abiotic conditions exhibited by the Fynbos and forest habitats, as found by this study. Overall, the results of this thesis suggest that Seira species richness is much greater than previously thought. It follows similar diversity patterns to the well-described and hyper-diverse plant communities of the CFR. Here, for both CFR plants and Seira, the spectacular regional diversity displayed is not the result of high alpha diversity, but rather of substantial beta diversity. Because of the high beta diversity and the fact that only two CFR vegetation types were sampled from a limited number of study sites, I predict that the Seira species richness presented here is but the tip of the iceberg.

Lietuva, 1918 m. paskelbusi nepriklausomybę, pasuko demokratijos keliu. Lietuvos piliečiai galėjo tiesiogiai rinkti atstovus į Seimą, kurie atstovavo jų interesus. Istorikai daugiau tyrė Steigiamojo Seimo veiklą, nes šis Seimas padėjo pamatus tolesniam teisinės valstybės gyvavimui, nemažai tirtas III Seimas dėl savo darbų ir prezidento A. Smetonos įvykdyto valstybės perversmo. II Seimas mažai susilaukė dėmesio, todėl istorikams lieka aktualu užpildyti parlamentarizmo tyrimuose spragas. Šio darbo tikslas – išanalizuoti II Seimo veiklą, nuveiktus darbus. Tikslui pasiekti keliami uždaviniai: 1. pateikti politinės situacijos II Seimo išvakarėse apžvalgą, 2. išanalizuoti II Seimo rinkimų eigą ir rezultatus, 3. pristatyti Seimo kiekybinius ir kokybinius rodiklius, bei 4. aptarti atliktus Seimo darbus vidaus (politinėje, kultūrinėje, ekonominėje ir tautinėje sferoje) ir užsienio politikoje.
Pirmajame Seime (1922 – 1923 m.) iš 78 Seimo narių – 38 buvo krikščionys demokratai (pozicija), o kita dalis opozicinės frakcijos. Toks skaičius lėmė, kad opozicija ir pozicija negal���jo tinkamai dirbti. Opozicija ginčijo Respublikos prezidento, vyriausybės išrinkimo teisėtumą (legitimumą), nesutardavo svarbiais klausimais. Todėl prezidentas A. Stulginskis 1923 kovo 13 d. paleido I Seimą. 1923m. gegužės 12-13 d. įvyko rinkimai į Antrąjį Seimą, kurie parodė, kad šį kartą rinkėjai buvo aktyvesni. Lithuanians were able to elect representatives directly to Seimas, who represented their interests. Historians started studying more about Constituve Seimas work, because this Seimas put the base for the further life of the juridical state existence, the III Seimas was researched quite in an intensive way as well because of its works and the revolution carried out by the president A. Smetona. The II Seimas got quite little attention. Due to that, it is of present interest to historians to fill the gaps in the researches of parliamentarism. The aims of this work – to analyze the movement and achieved works of the II Seimas. These tasks are raised in order to reach the aim: 1) to produce the review of the II Seimas Eve political situation; 2) to analyze the II Seimas election course and results; 3) to present the quantitive and qualitive indexes of Seimas, and: 4) to discuss about Seimas achieved works in inner (political, cultural, economical and national sphere) and foreign policy. Carlos Seixas is a Portuguese composer with a multifaceted work, which can be a target of many surprising analyses and hypotheses. How is interpreted nowadays Carlos Seixas? In this work I meet some of the most important performers that approach its work and through a questionnaire their opinion on some performative aspects was auscultated. This study it intends to be a contribution for the spreading of the work of Carlos Seixas, pointing ways to its interpretation. A boarding of the modern performative movements and the work of Carlos Seixas will be made. After that I will approach the methodology that I used in the accomplishment and analysis of the questionnaire and finally a conclusion, that will relate the acquired data, not only with what today is knowned about Seixas, but also with the main trends of the modern interpretation movements.

This dissertation aims to rescue the importance of the singer and composer Raul Seixas (1945-1989) in the period between the military dictatorship and the promulgation of 1988 Constitution. It seeks, still, to verify his insertion into the Brazilian artistic scenario and in other segments during the 1970 decade, as the counterculture, the censorship, the repression and the torture of all considered subversive. Recognized as composer of many talents, the singer figures among the most renowned artists of the last years in the Brazilian popular music. Discloser of Alternative Society, that in full military regime had as slogan "do what you want, because it is everything within the law", he did of his music speeches having an innovative spirit to say old things with new characteristics, mixing differentiated rhythms that, according to the artist, "had the same malices", such as rock and roll and the baião (Brazilian folk music and dance), and, thus, constituting trends. This study is divided in three chapters: in the first - "If today I am a star, tomorrow it has already faded... of Raulzito to Raul Seixas" - they narrate the artist's path since the beginning of his career, the success and the last years of life. In the second "The monster SIST is gargantuan and crazy to have sex with me... Raul Seixas and the Censorship" - the censorship, the manifest comic book, main theoretical instrument for the implementing the Alternative Society in Brazil, and the dialogue between the censorship and the censured music, are studied. Esta dissertação busca resgatar a importância do cantor e compositor Raul Seixas (1945-1989) no período entre a ditadura militar e a promulgação da Constituição de 1988. Procura, ainda, verificar sua inserção no cenário artístico brasileiro e em outros segmentos durante a década de 1970, como a contracultura, a censura, a repressão e a tortura a todos os considerados subversivos. Reconhecido como compositor de muitos talentos, o cantor figurou entre os mais renomados artistas dos últimos anos na Música Popular Brasileira. Divulgador da Sociedade Alternativa, que em pleno regime militar tinha como lema faz o que tu queres, pois é tudo da lei , fez de suas músicas discursos dotados de um espírito inovador para dizer coisas velhas com características novas, misturando diferenciados ritmos que, segundo o artista, tinham as mesmas malícias , como o rock and roll e o baião, e, assim, constituindo tendências. La presente disertación tiene el objetivo de analizar como la obra de Raul Seixas se presenta en la forma fonográfica y simbólica. Para tanto, se hace necesario identificar que después del pasaje del dispositivo mediático (disco vinilo) para el CD, las canciones de Raul Seixas permanecen vinculadas a una nueva tecnología y vivas en el cotidiano urbano. De forma que, para analizar la inserción de esta obra en los parámetros de la industria fonográfica utilizamos como base dos autores: Patrick Charaudeau, como método de procedimiento del discurso de los medios de comunicación y Othon Jambeiro, que nos ofreció el soporte para que posamos entender cual es la función de la indústria fonográfica en la producción, edición y divulgación de una obra. A partir del método de investigación formista, con base en los escritos de Michel Maffesoli, percibimos algunas temáticas en la obra de Raul Seixas que contribuyen para que ella sea una realidad presente en el cotidiano urbano de la población brasileña, mismo después de 21 años de la muerte de su autor. Con lo cual, nuestra pesquisa fue estructurada en tres capítulos: en el primer capitulo hicimos una investigación bibliográfica del surgimiento de los movimientos pop, como también de la sociedad brasileña de la década de los 60, tomando en consideración los aspectos culturales y políticos de dicho período. En el segundo momento de nuestra pesquisa hablamos del pasaje de las canciones del compositor por la industria fonográfica, en la década de los 70, como también de algunos elementos que contribuyeron para Raul Seixas se tornar un ídolo de la canción en Brasil. Finalmente, verificamos como la canción de Raul Seixas está inserta en una nueva cultura de difusión en la actualidad y analizamos cinco canciones del compositor que nos dio la base para identificar temas como: religión, rutina, ruptura, política, razón, siendo éstos actuales, contribuyendo de forma significativa a la permanencia de esta obra.

A lattice gas with equal numbers of oppositely charged particles, diffusing under the influence of a uniform electric field and an excluded volume condition undergoes an order-disorder phase transition, controlled by the particle density and the field strength. This transition may be continuous (second order) or continuous (first order). Results from previous discrete simulations are shown, and a theoretical continuum model is developed. As this is a nonequilibrium system, there is no associated free energy to determine the location of a first order transition. Instead, the model equations for this system are evolved in time numerically, and the locus of this transition is determined via the presence of a stable state with coexisting regions of order and disorder. The Crank-Nicholson, nonlinear Gauss-Seidel, and GMRES algorithms used to solve the model equations are discussed. Performance enhancements and limits on convergence are considered.Master of Science

Dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura, com a especialização em Arquitetura apresentada na Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade de Lisboa para obtenção do grau de Mestre.Num reconhecimento histórico e físico do Seixal, cujo traçado do centro matriz se caracteriza por uma específica relação dual de cotas, o presente estudo propõe uma reflexão sobre a referida paisagem ribeirinha situada na margem sul do Tejo. Identificando a necessidade de um programa de hospedagem para a cidade do Seixal, é selecionada a área do Alto D. Ana pela sua condição geomorfológica particular – lugar elevado sobre o centro matriz do Seixal, associado à antiga fábrica de cortiça Mundet & C.ª, Lda. (memória coletiva e património industrial local). Reconhecendo este contexto, o estudo propõe também lançar as bases para a restituição de espaço público qualificado, resolvendo a cisão que se instalou entre área da fábrica e centro da cidade logo a partir do início do séc. XX. O hóspede, elemento representativo da arquitetura e instituição do lazer, nasce como figura central do projeto que resulta de um factor social e económico recente - o crescimento do turismo que visa e procura as cidades bem como a sua identidade. O projeto ganha forma através da implementação de um programa de Hotel, utilizando o desenho como pano de fundo desde a leitura de atmosfera do lugar à conceptualização de uma imagem de arquitectura. Partindo desta premissa, pretende-se alcançar um público em constante busca de um valor acrescentado à sua experiência única e singular na vivência do espaço.
ABSTRACT: Through a historical and physical study of Seixal, we conclude that its city centre is characterized by a specific and accentuated dual relation of heights in its geomorphology. Our research shows a whole reflection about the riverside landscape located in the south bank of the Tagus river. Alto D. Ana was, therefore, not only selected for its geomorphological characteristics – elevated site over the city centre of Seixal, but also for its association with the old cork factory Mundet & C. ª, Lda. (collective memory and local heritage). The present study also suggests the restitution of a qualified public space, through solving the scission installed between the factory area and the city centre since the beginning of the 20th century. The “guest” is a representative element of the institution and architecture of leisure, it was originated as the central figure of the project which motivation results from a recent social and economic factor - the growth of tourism that aims at and looks for cities with a strong identity. The project takes shape by the implementation of an Hotel program, using drawing as a way of interpreting the place atmosphere and as a way of reaching the conceptualization of an image of architecture. Taking this premise as a point of start, the research focuses on a costumer in constant search for an added value to his experience – a unique and singular experience of space.

This research aims to understand the initial trajectory of Raul Seixas in the musical field, especially in the period of 1967 to 1974. Understand what were the positions taken by Raul Seixas in this field, its relations with the music industry and with the works and positioning of other artists constitute the objective of the work. Through theoretical and methodological framework of Pierre Bourdieu it was possible to analyze the musical creations of Raul Seixas and his extra-musical proposals (such as the Alternative Society) without resorting to explanations that reduce his work to the context or that justify his production as a result of ownership of special abilities, like the figure of a genius.

Previous issue date: 2007Suicide, the decision to take one’s own life has historically been the object of profound reflections of man. The multi factor etiology of such behavior has growingly been acknowledged, being a lethal and fatal act, in most cases, resulting from a reciprocal action of biological, psychological, psychiatric, socio economical and religious factors, among others. Therefore, the theme suicide needs to be understood from all these standpoints regarding a more complete and integrated intervention in the scope of its treatment and prevention. On September 11, 2001, suicide became notorious as never before imagined; the destruction power of the human being proved unlimited and words such as fundamentalism, suicide bombers and religious suicide became commonplace in the Eastern minds. The present Ph. D. dissertation aims at working out a psychoanalytical understanding of the relations between suicide and Islamism. The paper emphasizes the important role played by religion concerning the suicidal behavior as a coercive or facilitating element to it, as depending on how such religion is employed by the individual. This work is made up by three sections, one theoretical and two empirical. The first section, theoretical, is called The Freudian pulsion and attempts to portrait the importance of the pulsion-based Freudian model with a focus on the expressions of destructivity that, according to Freud, are derived from death thrills. This section seeks to provide the theoretical framework to the two empirical sections. The second section of the dissertation lays out the findings of the research work of five participants: individuals raised within Islamic religious who filled out a personal and socio demographical data file and answered a semi-structures interview. The analysis of the interviews allowed for the identification of contents that were coded into response categories by means of Bardin´s Content Analysis, as proposed by Moraes.For data interpreting, the psychoanalytical approach based on Freud enhanced by the specific literature on the Islamic religion was used. This empirical section, called Suicide and Islamism: a psychoanalytical look, seeks to look into the relations between the Islamic religion and the fatal self-destructive act, studying the different sources of Islamism (traditional and fundamentalist) and their antagonistic conceptions regarding suicide; the former inhibiting it in a coercive fashion and the latter, encouraging the free tanatic pulsional expression. The third section of the paper, entitled Fundamentalist Suicide: a psychoanalytic understanding via the ego cleavage mechanism proposes a hypothesis for the grasping of the fundamentalist mind in the deployment of the ego splitting mechanism. Fragments of an interview with the Islamic sympathizing individual illustrate the hypothesis raised. In general, the results obtained in this dissertation allow for demonstrating how much a religion, depending on how it is used, may lead the individual to disintegration, harmony or conflict and ultimately, suicide or, on the other way round, to the preservation of life.
O suicídio, decisão de dar fim a própria vida, historicamente, tem sido objeto de profundas reflexões por parte do homem. A etiologia multifatorial desse comportamento tem sido cada vez mais reconhecida, sendo este ato letal fatal, via de regra, resultante de uma ação recíproca de fatores biológicos, psicológicos, psiquiátricos e sócioeconômicos, religiosos entre outros. Dessa forma, a temática do suicídio necessita ser compreendida a partir de todos estes olhares com vistas a uma intervenção mais completa e integrada no âmbito do seu tratamento e prevenção. No dia 11 de setembro de 2001, o suicídio ganhou uma notoriedade talvez nunca antes imaginada; a destrutividade do ser humano se mostrou ilimitada, e palavras como fundamentalismo, homens-bomba e suicídio religioso passaram a ser lugares-comuns nas mentes ocidentais. O presente trabalho de doutorado tem por objetivo elaborar um entendimento psicanalítico das relações entre suicídio e Islamismo. A tese enfatiza a importância do papel da religião em relação ao comportamento suicida como elemento coercitivo ou facilitador do mesmo, na dependência de como essa religião é utilizada pelo indivíduo. Esta tese é composta de três seções, uma teórica e duas empíricas. A primeira seção, teórica, denomina-se A pulsão de morte freudiana e procura retratar a importância do modelo pulsional freudiano com ênfase nas expressões de destrutividade, segundo Freud, advindas das pulsões de morte. Esta seção procura oferecer sustentação teórica às duas seções empíricas. A segunda seção da tese apresenta os achados de pesquisa junto a cinco participantes, indivíduos educados dentro dos princípios religiosos islâmicos, que responderam a uma ficha de dados pessoais e sociodemográficos e a uma entrevista semi-estruturada.A análise das entrevistas permitiu a identificação de conteúdos que foram codificados em categorias de respostas por meio da técnica de Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin, na proposta de Moraes. Para a interpretação dos dados, lançou-se mão do instrumental psicanalítico fundamentado nos referenciais freudianos acrescido de literatura especifica acerca da religião islâmica. Esta seção empírica, denominada Suicídio e Islamismo: um olhar psicanalítico, procura examinar as relações da religião islâmica com o ato autodestrutivo fatal, estudando as diferentes vertentes do Islamismo (tradicional e fundamentalista) com suas concepções antagônicas em relação ao suicídio, a primeira, inibindo-o de forma coercitiva, e a segunda, estimulando a livre expressão pulsional tanática. A terceira seção da tese, intitulada Suicídio Fundamentalista: uma compreensão psicanalítica via mecanismo de clivagem do ego, propõe uma hipótese de entendimento acerca da mente do suicida fundamentalista baseada no emprego do mecanismo da clivagem do ego. Fragmentos de uma entrevista com um indivíduo islâmico simpatizante do Islã fundamentalista ilustra a hipótese aventada. De maneira geral, os resultados obtidos nesta tese permitem demonstrar o quanto uma religião, na dependência de como é utilizada, pode conduzir um indivíduo tanto à coesão quanto à desintegração, à harmonia ou ao conflito e, em última instância, ao suicídio ou, ao contrário, à preservação da vida.

Esta tese aborda alguns aspectos da vida e da atuação política e religiosa de D. Romualdo Antônio de Seixas, arcebispo da Bahia entre os anos de 1828 e 1860. Foi nesse período de formação e consolidação da nação brasileira que esse paraense de Cametá se destacou nacionalmente como uma das principais figuras da Igreja Católica no país, atuando, inclusive, como combativo parlamentar na Câmara imperial, bem como na Assembleia Provincial. A partir da análise da atuação política de D. Romualdo, o presente trabalho também busca lançar luz sobre as diferentes formas de compreensão das relações entre a Igreja Católica e o Estado imperial brasileiro, defendidas por leigos e homens de religião. Este estudo se interessa igualmente pelo papel de D. Romualdo Antônio de Seixas como pastor e prelado da arquidiocese da Bahia, em particular sobre o modo como, ao longo de seus 32 anos de arcebispado, lançou as bases para a formação de um novo clero e lutou em prol de um novo modelo de religiosidade inspirado nos padrões romanos.

Dissertação para obtenção do Grau de Mestre em Conservação e Restauro, Especialização em Cerâmica e VidroNo presente trabalho estudou-se um painel de azulejos do século XVII pertencente ao acervo do Ecomuseu do Seixal (Seixal, Portugal), de composição figurativa e produzido pela técnica da majólica. O painel apresenta uma cena marítima pintada a azul, com alguns detalhes a púrpura, delineada a púrpura acastanhado, sobre vidrado branco de tonalidade esverdeada. A obra foi submetida no passado a duas intervenções de conservação, tendo sido levantado da parede na última intervenção. Os principais objectivos deste trabalho foram a caracterização técnica e material dos azulejos do painel, a identificação dos materiais aplicados nas intervenções efectuadas no passado e a execução de um tratamento adequado de conservação, a fim de preparar o painel para exposição. Uma parte importante deste trabalho consistiu na discussão das diferentes hipóteses de restauro, tendo em conta as extensas lacunas existentes no painel, com base na Ética e nas Teorias da Conservação e Restauro. O tratamento consistiu nas seguintes etapas: registo fotográfico; mapeamento das patologias existentes; remoção do facing; limpeza dos vidrados e chacotas; união de fragmentos;remarcação dos azulejos no tardoz; integração volumétrica, integração cromática e produção de réplicas para as falhas de suporte. Foi ainda feita uma proposta para o acondicionamento e a exposição do painel. Com recurso a diferentes técnicas analíticas, nomeadamente à espectrometria de fluorescência de raio X dispersiva de energias (μ-EDXRF), à espectroscopia de infravermelho por transformada de Fourier (FTIR), à microscopia de Raman, à colorimetria e à microscopia óptica foi possível determinar a composição do vidrado, caracterizar os pigmentos utilizados na camada pictórica e identificar os produtos utilizados nas intervenções anteriores. Verificou-se que o vidrado é plúmbico e branco opaco devido à presença de cristais de cassiterite (óxido de estanho). Na cor azul da camada pictórica foi identificado cobalto, nas aguadas a púrpura manganês e nos contornos a púrpura manganês e óxido de ferro na forma de hematite. Nos tratamentos anteriores foram utilizados Paraloid B-72® e silicato de etilo.

Universidade de LisboaO surgimento dos Parques Urbanos acontece desde a segunda metade do século XIX e são, atualmente, grandes apostas ambientais e políticas nos mais diversos locais do mundo. A busca por uma zona de escapatória do ambiente citadino tornou-se um ponto fulcral para a população e estes espaços começaram a ganhar o seu lugar no planeamento urbano. Enquanto arquitetos paisagistas é essencial compreender como projetar e delinear as fases inerentes à elaboração de um projeto de um parque urbano, tal como estas dependem entre si. Desta forma, a metodologia de trabalho incidiu sobre: a origem de um parque urbano, o que o define e as suas fases de elaboração. A minha dissertação iniciou-se com uma análise ao projeto do Parque Urbano D. Ana, realizado pela Câmara Municipal do Seixal, e com o estudo à execução e à fiscalização do mesmo e da sua possível manutenção, com base na metodologia. O objetivo é promover a compreensão do processo de execução de um parque urbano, bem como da sua fiscalização. A elaboração de um parque urbano inicia-se com a composição do projeto, à qual se segue a execução da obra que exige uma correta fiscalização, devendo obedecer às leis que lhe são impostas, de forma a assegurar a melhor concretização e segurança. Com a execução do Parque Urbano D. Ana realizou-se o acompanhamento e a fiscalização da obra, apresentando as funções de uma correta fiscalização e os documentos que esta deve verificar e realizar. Após a execução e fiscalização, a fase seguinte é a manutenção e, dada a sua importância, elaborei um Caderno de Técnico de Manutenção em que estabeleci medidas e diretrizes para a correta conservação e manutenção do Parque. Por fim, dada a natureza dinâmica dos parques urbanos, estes podem sofrer alterações devido a vários motivos. Sendo assim, apresentam-se ideias para a criação de novas oportunidades no parque urbano

The study object of this work is the musical and media mixes produced by Raul Seixas in his work, in dialog with the hybrid culture tradition. The research problem is to investigate Raul Seixas as a musical mix producer that acts between the media and the mediatic ambient and as a translator of the book culture to the popular language. The research was made in São Paulo city, São Paulo state, for being the where he lived in his carrier mature phases and for concentrate his biggest audience. The research period includes from beginning 2008 until beginning 2012. The research emphasis is on his carrier length period, from 1962 to 1989. The general objective is to analyze Raul Seixas discography production texts, as the lyrics and melodies were are proved his musical and mediatic mixes. The thesis justifies because there are no works of this kind that includes the mix and the cultural translate in Raul Seixas work. The hypothesis are: 1- the Raul Seixas work uses baroque procedure and 2-The verbal and body elements of Raul Seixas texts are traduced on media and mediatics ambient through mix procedure. Method : I have done a study of Raul Seixas medias action (on radio, television, shows, video clips, interviews and discs); for that are done research with his friends, parents and fans, and collected information in digital and printed media, like LPs, CDs, DVDs, photography, books, magazines and internet. The theoretic base counts with the culture Semiotic studies, mix and baroque theories developed by authors: Severo Sarduy with Baroque, Iuri Lotman with The Semiosphere I, Serge Gruzinsky with The Mestizo Thought, Paul Zumthor with The Letter and the Voice and Oral Poetry: An introduction, Alexis Nouss and François La Plantine with Mestizajes, Jesús-Martín Barbero with From the Media to Mediations, Eduardo Viveiros de Castro with The Inconstancy of the Indian Soul, Amálio Pinheiro with The Means is The Mestizaje and From this Side of Identity and Opposition and Octávio Paz with Convergences
O objeto de estudo deste trabalho são as mestiçagens musicais e midiáticas produzidas por Raul Seixas em sua obra, em diálogo com a tradição híbrida da cultura. O Problema de Pesquisa é investigar Raul Seixas como um produtor de mestiçagens musicais que atua entre as mídias e os ambientes midiáticos, e como um tradutor da cultura livresca para a linguagem popular. A pesquisa foi realizada na cidade de São Paulo, estado de São Paulo, por ser onde ele morou na fase madura de sua carreira e por concentrar seu maior público. O período de pesquisa abrange do início de 2008 ao início de 2012. A ênfase da pesquisa está no intervalo de duração de sua carreira, de 1962 a 1989. O objetivo geral é analisar as obras de Raul Seixas como formas de construção entre as mídias e os ambientes midiáticos. O objetivo específico é analisar textos da produção discográfica de Raul Seixas, tais como letras de músicas e melodias, onde se comprovam suas mestiçagens musicais e midiáticas. A tese se justifica porque não há trabalhos do gênero que abordem a mestiçagem e a tradução cultural na obra de Raul Seixas. As hipóteses são: 1 - A obra de Raul Seixas se utiliza de procedimentos comunicativos barrocos e 2 - Os elementos verbais e corporais dos textos de Raul são traduzidos, na mídia e nos ambientes midiáticos, por meio de procedimentos de mestiçagem. Metodologia: Realizei estudos sobre a atuação de Raul Seixas na mídia (nas rádios, televisão, shows, videoclipes, entrevistas e discos); para tanto, fiz pesquisas de campo com alguns de seus amigos, parentes e fãs, e coletei informações em mídias digitais e impressas, como: LPs, CDs, DVDs, fotografias, livros, revistas e internet. Previous issue date: 2009-08-20O assunto que nos convida e reúne a pensar é a concepção de Novo Aeon apresentada pelo compositor Raul Seixas, refletindo sobre sua constituição histórica, seus valores e conseqüências para a sociedade pós-moderna. Elaborada pelo escritor inglês Aleister Crowley no início do século XX, esta doutrina impulsionou trajetórias existenciais de grande força contestatória, influenciando a contracultura das décadas de 1960 e 1970. Raul Seixas, que acompanhou o movimento, fez de sua criação poética o espírito de seu tempo. Nesse sentido, nosso objetivo geral é compreender o que é o Novo Aeon, revelando sua interseção com o pósmodernismo, tal como pensado por Fredric Jameson. Como objetivos específicos, propomos compreender as concepções de Velho Aeon e modernidade em suas relações com os conceitos supracitados. Nesse diálogo com Seixas, nos dedicamos a ver em sua obra ressonâncias das questões que animaram seu tempo: ocultismo, desbunde, indústria cultural, autoritarismo, censura, niilismo e melancolia.

Collembola is one of the most abundant and diverse group of terrestrial arthropods, being at the base of the food chain operating in the decomposition process. They have a wide distribution in the world and can be found in practically all habitats. The knowledge of this distinctive fauna is still deficient in brazilian territory, especially in semi-arid region. The aim of this study was to investigate which climatic variables may act as predictors of species richness, abundance of individuals and compositional structure of the taxocenose of Collembola over 12 months in an area dominated by semi-arid Caatinga vegetation, northeastern Brazil and describe new species of the genus Seira found, more diverse taxon of Collembola in Brazil. Samples were collected in Jo?o C?mara, Rio Grande do Norte. Ten plots of 20 x 20 meters were established and the specimens were collected with collection effort of one hour/people using entomological aspirator. The identification and description of the species was carried out by studying the morphology and chaetotaxy. Was performed a multiple regression analysis between species richness and abundance of individuals with climatic variables. A total of 1231 individuals belonging to 15 species, 12 genera and nine families. The greatest richness and abundance of Collembola were found during the rainy season. The genus Seira was the most abundant. Rainfall explained the temporal variation in species richness and abundance of Collembola in the semi-arid region, which is consistent with the biology of these animals. The populations of Collembola showed grouped distribution. Three new species of Seira were described and illustrated and all show similarities with species already registered in the national territory
Collembola constitui um dos grupos mais abundantes e diversos de artr?podes terrestres, estando na base da cadeia alimentar e atuando no processo de decomposi??o. Possuem ampla distribui??o no mundo e podem ser encontrados em praticamente todos os habitats. O conhecimento desta distinta fauna ainda ? deficiente em territ?rio brasileiro, especialmente no semi?rido. O objetivo desse estudo foi investigar quais as vari?veis clim?ticas podem atuar como preditoras da riqueza de esp?cies, abund?ncia de indiv?duos e da estrutura composicional da taxocenose de Collembola ao longo de 12 meses em uma ?rea semi?rido dominada por vegeta??o de Caatinga, Nordeste brasileiro; e descrever novas esp?cies encontradas do g?nero Seira, t?xon mais diverso de Collembola no Brasil. As coletas foram realizadas em Jo?o C?mara, Rio Grande do Norte. Dez parcelas de 20 x 20 metros foram estabelecidas e os esp?cimes foram coletados com esfor?o de coleta de uma hora por pessoa utilizando um aspirador entomol?gico. A identifica??o e descri??o das esp?cies foram realizadas atrav?s do estudo da morfologia e quetotaxia dos exemplares. Foi realizada uma an?lise de regress?o m?ltipla entre a riqueza de esp?cies e a abund?ncia de indiv?duos com as vari?veis clim?ticas. Foi coletado um total de 1231 indiv?duos, distribu?dos em 15 esp?cies, 12 g?neros e nove fam?lias. As maiores riqueza e abund?ncia de Collembola foram encontradas durante a esta??o chuvosa. O g?nero Seira foi o mais abundante. A precipita??o explicou varia??o temporal da riqueza de esp?cies e abund?ncia de Collembola no semi?rido, o que condiz com a biologia desses animais. As popula??es de Collembola apresentaram distribui??o agrupada.
