Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract In order to take into account the territorial differences of natural and economic conditions, to identify biological and ecological patterns, the agro-landscape and ecological zoning of natural forage lands (NFL) of the North-Western natural and economic region of the Russian Federation has been developed. The Karelian province occupies 23% of the area in the north of the Leningrad region, bordering Karelia and Finland. The Karelian province is located in the western part of the Middle Taiga zone, which is characterized by Eastern European Middle Taiga plains. Most of the area of the province (65%) is covered by forests. Agricultural land occupies only 4% of the total area of the province. Including arable land – 2%, hayfields and pastures – 1% each. The territory of the province is significantly moistened and swampy. Swamps occupy 11% of the area, under water – about 11%. Shrubs occupy 3% of the area of the province, other land – about 6%. The structure of NFL is dominated (53%) by normally moistened dry-grass grasslands on sod-podzolic soils. Fine-grained sweet-scented and finegrained grasslands with a large participation of various grasses are common. The yield of hay is 9–13 c/ha, feed is 70 c/ha. Grass-mixed grass and grass-sedge-mixed grass lowland and swampy meadows on swamp-podzolic soils occupy 44%. Grass stands with the dominance of the sod pike are common. Swampy depressions are occupied by large-seeded grass stands. The yield of hay is 10–15 c/ha, feed is 9–11 c/ha. The ecological state of the province’s landscapes is satisfactory-tense.

Abstract:
This material contains the introductory article and the first publication of all previously unpublished letters from Boris Asafyev to Sergey Prokofiev and several letters from Prokofiev to Asafyev dated 1925–1935. These letters are kept in The Serge Prokofiev Archive at Columbia University, New York. These documentary sources provide updated information about the range of interests and activities of Boris Asafyev—a Russian scholar, composer, writer and music critic. Previously unknown life circumstances are investigated, and creative aspects are rendered in a new light. In his letters, Asafyev writes about the most significant musicians and artists of the 20th century. These documents reveal new information about the lost battle for the staging of Prokofiev’s “The Gambler” in Leningrad, the struggle for authentic “Boris Godunov,” and Asafyev’s productive and insightful trip to Europe. One of the correspondence topics is a book about Prokofiev, which Asafyev was planning to write. Tragic twists and turns of Soviet history and severe political censorship in the USSR can be read between the lines of these letters. The scholar’s response to Prokofiev’s new works intertwines with the profound observations of a professional

Volkova, E. A., and V. N. Khramtsov. "Vegetation map of the “Osinovaya Roshcha” monument of garden art (St. Petersburg)." Geobotanical mapping, no. 2022 (2022): 23–35. http://dx.doi.org/10.31111/geobotmap/2022.23.

Abstract:
This article continues a series of publications devoted to vegetation mapping of existing and prospective specially protected natural areas of St. Petersburg. The “Osinovaya Roshcha” is a monument of garden art of the late XVIII–early XIX centuries. It is located on the northern border of St. Petersburg in a picturesque kame landscape, where sandy hills alternate with small bogged depressions and lakes. The landscape park of the Levashov-Vyazemsky estate was created in the forested area dominated by spruce, pine and birch. Since the 1780s oak, linden, ash, larch, fir, Siberian, Weymouth and other pines were planted there (Isachenko, 2004). A large-scale map of the actual vegetation of the “Osinovaya Roshcha” park and the adjacent territory was compiled for the first time. The natural forest, bog and meadow plant communities are characteristic features of the northern part of the area. The broad-leaved and coniferous trees, planted in the central part more than 200 years ago, have formed various plant communities, including mixed stands of local flora species and introduced trees. The southern part of the park is occupied mainly by broad-leaved introduced forest stands. Vegetation is divided into three sections in the map legend — natural, introduced, and formed by both native and introduced species. Each section represents vegetation types (or groups of types) (forest vegetation, mire vegetation, etc.); then forest communities are subdivided into classes of formations and formations, bog communities — according to the types of water-mineral nutrition. The mapped units are associations, subassociations and their variants, identified according the ecological-phytocoenotic classification. Territorial units — ecological series and combinations of plant communities — were also used in the map legend. Short-term secondary communities formed under various ecological (mainly anthropogenic) factors are subordinate to conventionally primary ones. They are indicated by indices at the legend numbers. Various types of shading were used on the map to distinguish natural and introduced vegetation. The vegetation map of the “Osinovaya Roshcha” represents a diversity of plant communities: they are forest (spruce, pine, birch) and bog (lowland, transitional, upland) communities typical of the region, as well as old-growth larch (Larix sibirica) and broad-leaved (oak, linden, elm, mixed composition) forests formed by introduced trees. Last ones are rare for the region. The plant community of Carex brizoides, found in the park, is of great interest among the communities of herbaceous plant introducers. This sedge is a rare species for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, which probably like the Poa chaixii was used for sodding the park soils.

"A clinical case of atypical complicated miliary tuberculosis in a patient without HIV or medicinal immunosupression." Медицинский Альянс 10, no. 1 (2022): 27–32. http://dx.doi.org/10.36422/23076348-2022-10-1-27-32.

Abstract:
The aim of the study is to analyze a clinical case of atypical complicated miliary tuberculosis in a young man without HIV-infection or medicinal immunosuppression. Mate-rials and methods. The article presents a clinical case of atypical miliary tuberculosis, complicated by spontaneous pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema of the neck and chest, in a 24-year-old young man, a citizen of Uzbekistan, a 4th year university student in St. Peters-burg, who does not have HIV-infection and did not re-ceive immunosuppressive therapy. Results. The disease developed in a patient in the time of peace on the back-ground of a long-term inadequate unbalanced diet, pro-tein insufficiency and alimentary dystrophia with a loss of about 30% of the initial body weight. It was characterized by unusual clinical manifestations in the form of exudative and caseous-necrotic inflammatory reactions, destruction of lung tissue, tissue of intrathoracic lymph node and dis-ruption of the bronchus wall, development of complica-tions — spontaneous pneumomediastinum and subcu-taneous emphysema of the neck and chest. Usually, the atypical miliary tuberculosis may occur in the conditions of immunodeficiency (HIV-infection or medi cinal immu-nosuppression), cases have also been observed in wartime and under extreme famine conditions during the seige of Leningrad during WWII. Conclusion. In this patient, in peaceful times, prolonged inadequate unbalanced nutri-tion, protein insufficiency and alimentary dystrophia with a loss of about 30% of the initial body weight led to de-crease in the body’s resistance to infectious diseases, the development of miliary tuberculosis, and also to change in its clinical manifestations in the form of exudative and caseous-necrotic inflammatory reactions, destruction of respiratory tissues and the development of complica-tions — spontaneous pneumomediastinum and subcuta-neous emphysema.
