Petróleo, término que viene desde el siglo XVIII, nace del latín petroleum ‘aceite de roca’, compuesto de petra ‘piedra’ y oleum ‘aceite’, y del griego bizantino petrélaion que significa “líquido oleoso de las rocas”. Sin embargo, mucho antes, ya los chinos y los japoneses, lo conocían como Shi-You y Sekiyu, respectivamente, que en ambos casos significa “aceite de roca”, con lo cual se unifican las etimologías.

Abstract:
Este artigo trata da questão da internacionalização das empresas da indústria de petróleo no Brasil. O tema analisado ganha maiores dimensões nas discussões desta indústria, quando do advento das descobertas nas áreas de fronteiras exploratórias do pré-sal. Como será exposto neste artigo, em futuro breve, as referidas descobertas colocarão a indústria de petróleo brasileira e o seu maior representante, a Petrobrás, em uma posição de grande exportador líquido de óleo cru, o energético na forma de matéria prima bruta. A questão que se quer levantar é se este modelo exportador de matérias primas bruta ou semiacabadas, predominante na história do Brasil desde o seu descobrimento, será benéfico para o país ou mesmo para o maior ícone da indústria nacional de petróleo, a Petrobras. Também será feita uma análise de outras empresas, suas estratégias e forma de operação, empresas de outras nacionalidades, de capital estatal e privado, internacionalizadas desde o seu nascimento ou em francos processos de internacionalização, onde a atuação em países diferentes das suas sedes era, ou passou a ser, objetivo a ser perseguido por suas organizações. Finalmente será analisado uma iniciativa de internacionalização, que foi a aquisição de 87,5% de participação da ExxonMobil na empresa japonesa, NSS Nansei Sekiyu KK, pela Petrobras em 2008. A empresa adquirida tem em seu portfólio de ativos, uma refinaria, um terminal de armazenagem e um porto composto por três atracadouros e uma monobóia para barcos do tipo VLCC (Very Large Crude Carriers). A aquisição de empresa com operação no Japão por empresa de capital Latino Americano foi inédita na história daquele país.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study are to determine the independence, accountability, time pressure and due professional care on the audit quality of the Inspektorat Musi Banyuasin in Sekayu. While the population used in this study were all auditors in the Inspectorate of Musi Banyuasin Sekayu to 67 people. The sample that used is 67 people using a census is all the populations sampled. Technique to analyze data are multiple regression analysis with SPSS 20 software tools. The results of the study partially indicate that: (1) independence has a negative effect and not significant towords the audit qualitry of Inspectorate of Musi Banyuasin Sekayu, (2) accountability has a positive effect and not significant towords the audit qualitry of Inspectorate of Musi Banyuasin Sekayu, (3) time pressure has a positive effect and significant towords the audit qualitry of Inspectorate of Musi Banyuasin Sekayu, and (4) due professional care has a positive effect and not significant towords the audit qualitry of Inspectorate of Musi Banyuasin Sekayu. And the results of the simultaneous testing also show that independence, accountability, time pressure and due professional care have a positive and significant effect on the audit quality of Inspectorate Musi Banyuasin Sekayu.

Abstract:
This best practice study aims to determine the effect of supervision on improving the performance of education personnel at SMA Negeri 5 Sekayu. Implementation of activities from October 2021-December 2021. Research activities start from planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting as well as following up on the results of the activities. Data collection techniques started from interviews with instruments of supervision, documentation, observation and reflection. The data analysis technique was carried out descriptively. The results of the study indicate that the supervision of educational staff can improve the performance of education personnel and increase the professionalism of education personnel. Supervision carried out in addition to performance appraisal activities is also a coaching and mentoring activity carried out by school principals. The follow-up stage is carried out in addition to collecting data that has not been completed, correcting data that is lacking and needs improvement, also through self-development activities such as seminars, in-house training, and other self-development activities related to the duties of educational staff. The follow-up process for supervision of the time period cannot be determined because it aims to improve administrative competence for school administrative staff. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini best practice bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh supervisi terhadap peningkatan kinerja tenaga kependidikan di SMA Negeri 5 Sekayu. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dari bulan Oktober 2021-Desember 2021. Kegiatan penelitian dimulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi serta tindak lanjut hasil kegiatan. Teknik pengumpulan data dimulai dari wawancara dengan instrumen supervisi, dokumentasi, observasi serta refleksi. Teknik analisa data dilakukan secara deskrptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kegiatan supervisi tenaga kependidikan dapat meningkatkan kinerja tenaga pendidikan serta meningkatkan profesioanalitas tenaga kependidikan. Supervisi dilaksanakan selain kegiatan penilaian kinerja juga merupakan kegiatan pembinaan dan pendampingan yang dilakukan kepala sekolah. Tahap tindak lanjut yang dilakukan selain kegiatan mengumpulkan data-data yang belum terlengkapi, memperbaiki data yang kurang dan perlu perlu perbaikan juga melalui kegiatan pengembangan diri seperti seminar, in house training, serta kegiatan pengembangn diri lain yang berhubungan dengan tugas tenaga kependidikan. Proses tindak lanjut supervisi jangka waktu tidak dapat ditentukan karena bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi administrasi bagi tenaga administrasi sekolah.

Abstract:
Abstract. The study aimed to find out the validity, practicality, and potential effect of the developed reading materials with local culture based descriptive texts. The development research consisted of analysis, design, evaluation and revision was used. Then, formative evaluation proposed by Tessmer (1993) was also used. In order to review the product, there were 2 experts in expert review, 3 students involved in one-to-one, 9 students involved in small group which were given the reading materials and 18 students involved in field test. The questionnaires and a test were used in order to collect the data. The results showed that the developed product was valid after being evaluated in expert review which was categorized as highly valid. The product was also practical after being evaluated in one-to-one and small group which were categorized as very highly practical. Then, the reading assessment also could be categorized as effective since there were 12 students reached the minimum mastery criterion Keywords: development research, local culture, descriptive texts.

Kebutuhan parkir pada setiap daerah sangat bervariasi, namun pada umumnya sangat bergantung pada lokasi yang menjadi pusat pergerakan. Fasilitas parkir sangat tergantung pada kesediaan supply yang ada dan demand parkir tersebut. Sehingga bagi perencana perlu ada perhitungan kebutuhan parkir di lokasi tertentu. Namun fakta yang kerap terjadi pada beberapa daerah masih mengalami kesulitan dalam manajemen parkir baik secara off street maupun on street. Kondisi di lapangan, parking on street terkesan sering mengganggu ketertiban lalu lintas kendaraan. Situasi tersebut juga kerap terjadi pada Kota Sekayu. Dengan polemik yang ada cukup menarik untuk meneliti penataan parkir di Kota Sekayu dengan tujuan dapat memberi gambaran kondisi perparkiran yang ada, berikut segala informasi yang diperoleh sehingga dapat memberikan rekomendasi terkait dengan penataan perparkiran di Kota Sekayu Kabupaten Banyuasin. Pada penelitian ini metode yang digunakan yaitu analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Metode ini diharapkan dapat memberi gambaran mengenai kondisi aktual terkait perparkiran di Sekayu Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin dan setelah itu dilanjutkan dengan analisis lebih dalam lagi menggunakan pendekatan yang berkaitan dengan parkir yang dapat diukur secara kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan di dua lokasi (Pasar Perjuangan dan Petro Mall), menunjukkan secara umum kapasitas parkir di Kota Sekayu Kabupaten Banyuasin yang ada masih sesuai dengan pernintaan parkir yang dipertegas dengan nilai indeks parkir dibawah 100%. Namun untuk lokasi Petro Mall belum terdapat fasilitas parkir, sehingga disarankan pada lokasi ini perlu adanya penyediaan parkir.

Magistro baigiamojo darbo tikslas – įgyvendinti realiuoju laiku veikiančius objektų sekimo vaizde algoritmus lauku programuojamų loginių matricų įrenginyje (LPLM) ir ištirti šių algoritmų veikimą. Iškelti uždaviniai pasiekti 3 etapais. Atlikta analitinė objektų sekimo vaizde literatūros apžvalga, išanalizuoti objektų sekimo vaizde algoritmai bei jų įgyvendinimo galimybės LPLM įrenginiuose. Sukurti algoritmai ir programos įgyvendintos viename ir keliuose LPLM įrenginiuose (sinchroniškai) taikant VHDL programavimo kalbą ir veikia realiu laiku. Atlikti sukurtų algoritmų tyrimai ir gautų rezultatų analizė. Ištirtas objektų sekimo stabilumas keičiant apšviestumo lygį, fono sudėtingumą, objekto spalvą, judesio greitį, atstumą iki kameros ir posūkio kampą. Darbo apimtis – 69 psl. teksto be priedų, 72 iliustr., 70 bibliografinių šaltinių, 3 priedai.
The aim of master’s thesis is to investigate the object tracking methods and implement the object tracking algorithms in field programmable gate array (FPGA) devices for real-time execution. The aim is achieved by performing 3 tasks. The analytical review of object tracking methods is performed, reviewing the abilities of algorithms implementation on FPGAs. The object tracking algorithms are implemented in VHDL and distributed on one and few FPGA chips in parallel and works in real-time. The implemented algorithms are investigated and results are analyzed. The stability of different object tracking is investigated by changing the illumination, background complexity, object color, moving velocity, distance to camera and rotation angle. Thesis consists of: 69 p. text without appendixes, 72 figures, 70 bibliographical entries, 3 appendixes included.

Abstract:
Šiame darbe buvo ištirtas keleto pasirinktų objekto vaizde sekimo metodų pritaikomumas relaus laiko vaizdo transliavimo sistemose. Išsiaiškinta, kad standartinis blokelių sutapdinimo algoritmas, nors yra pats paprasčiausias iš tirtųjų, yra netinkamas naudoti tokiose sistemose dėl ilgai užtrunkančių skaičiavimų, kurie sukuria papildomą vaizdo vėlinimą. Fazinės koreliacijos metodo taikymo taip pat buvo atsisakyta, nes jo randami vaizdo poslinkio vektoriai yra pernelyg atsitiktiniai. Tiriant būdingųjų taškų paieška ir sutapdinimu grįstus algoritmus buvo išsiaiškinta, kad HARRIS randa daugiausiai taškų iš visų, FAST algoritmas veikia greičiausiai, nors randamų taškų skaičius ir tikslumas yra žymiai mažesnis, o SURF ir MSER algoritmai puikiai balansuoja tarp randamų taškų skaičiaus, jų tikslumo ir skaičiavimų vykdymo greičio. Padarėme išvadas, kad visi tirti būdingųjų taškų sutapdinimu ir paieška pagrįsti metodai, priklausomai nuo uždavinio pobūdžio, gali būti taikomi realaus laiko vaizdo transliacijos sistemos objektams vaizde sekti.
In this thesis we've investigated methods used in object tracking in video sequences, that could be applied in systems of real-time video streaming. We've found out that a standard block matching method, despite being the most simplistic one out of all methods investigated, is also the most time consuming and cannot be applied in real-time systems. Phase correlation method is much faster than block matching, but motion vectors calculated with this algorithm are too random and it would be impractical to use it in real-time object tracking. While investigating feature detection and matching methods we've concluded that HARRIS algorithm finds more feature points than others, FAST algorithm is the fastest, but not very accurate, SURF and MSER algorithms retains the balance between the calculation speed and accuracy of finding feature points. Hence all these algorithms could be applied in real-time video streaming systems to track objects, depending on the contents of the video sequence and the complexity of the task.

Pirmajame skyriuje yra nagrinėjama LPLM(Lauku Programuojamos Loginės Matricos) (angl. FPGA) struktūra. Nagrinėjama vidinė LPLM struktūra t.y. trasavimas, loginiai elementai ir įėjimai/išėjimai. Toliau nagrinėjama „Altera“ firmos siūlomas programinis NIOS II procesorius, kuris gaunamas įkėlus NIOS II programos kodą į LPLM. „Altera“ NIOS II yra programinis bendros paskirties, 32 bitų RISC procesorius optimizuotas programuojama logika.
A first chapter deals with FPGA (field programmable gate arrays) structure. There are examined FPGA gates, input and output devices, an routing inside devices. Further an analysis of Altera's NIOS II soft processor, which is obtained by uploading the NIOS II code into the FPGA, is done. Altera's NIOS II is a general-purpose programmable, 32-bit RISC processor optimized for programmable logic.

Yokai é a designação comumente aplicada para nomear seres sobrenaturais como oni (ogro japonês), kappa (espécie de ser aquático), criados pelos homens para explicar fenômenos desconhecidos à sua volta, como epidemias e desastres naturais; dessa maneira, eventos nocivos ao ser humano tomaram a forma do yokai. Hoje, essas criaturas estão presentes no imaginário japonês sob a condição de personagens de anime (denominação das animações japonesas), mangá (histórias em quadrinhos nipônicas), games expressões modernas da cultura popular do Japão. A presente pesquisa buscou trilhar o caminho percorrido por esses seres até alcançarem o status de yokai-personagem. Os estudos concentraram-se nas principais representações dos ykai nas Época Heian (794-1192), Época Muromachi (1333-1573) e Época Edo (1603-1867), pois foi quando se verificou importantes mudanças nas expressões dessas criaturas, até culminar nos personagens criados pelo artista de mangá Mizuki Shigeru (1922- ), responsável por introduzir o yokai no imaginário nacional japonês no século XX. Pesquisas acadêmicas em língua portuguesa que tomam o yokai como objeto são escassas. Esperamos com esse estudo, apresentar essas criaturas na academia, e inseri-las no contexto acadêmico, despertando, quem sabe, interesse para futuros projetos.
Yokai is the designation commonly used to name supernatural beings as oni ( the Japanese ogre), kappa (a kind of aquatic being), created by men to explain the unknown phenomena around them like epidemics and natural disasters; this way, damaging events to men turned into a Yokai format. Nowadays these creatures are presented in the Japanese imaginary as an anime character (name given to Japanese animations), mangá (Japanese comics), games modern expressions of the popular culture of Japan. The goal of this research sought to trace the course made by these beings until they reached the yokai character status. The studies focused on the main representations of the yokai in the Heian Period (794-1192), in the Muromachi Period (1333-1573) and in the Edo Period (1603-1867), when several and important changes were perceived in the expression of these creatures until they culminated in characters created by the mangá artist Mizuki Shigeru (1922- ), responsible for introducing the ykai in the Japanese national imaginary world in the XX century. Academic research in the Portuguese language about the yokai is scarce. We expect with this study to present these creatures to the Academy and insert them in the academic context, awaking peoples interest for future projects.

Game space can be conceived of as being structured by varying levels of ruledness, i.e. it oscillates between openness and closure, between playability and gameness. The movement through game space can then be described as a vector defined by possibility spaces, which are generated organically out of the interplay between ruled and unruled space. But we can only define rules ex negativo, therefore the possibility of breaking the rules is always already inscribed in this vector of movement. This can be conceptualized as a boundary operation that takes the difference between ‘ordinary life’ and ‘play’ as its argument, and which thus generates the difference between ‘play’ and ‘game’.

Abstract:
I will consider the Influence of Chinese mathematics on Seki Kowa. For this purpose, my thesis is constructed in four parts, introduction, I the studies of editions; Shu. Shu. Jiu Zhang and Yang Hui Sum. Fa, II the conception and extension of method for making magic squares, and III the analysis for solving indeterminate equations. In the introduction, I will explain some similarities between Chinese mathematics in the Song dynasty and Seki Kowa's works. It will become clear that the latter was influenced by Chinese mathematics. Then I introduce some former opinions concerning which Chinese mathematical book influenced him. I shall show that two Chinese mathematical books, Shi Shu. Jiu Zhang and Yang Hai Suan Fa, are particularly important. Some Chinese mathematical books were republished and studied by Japanese mathematicians, but these two books were not accessible to Japanese mathematicians. Thus we must study them for considering questions of influence. I will consider two subjects, the treatment of magic squares in Yang Hui Suan Fa in chapter H and the method of solving indeterminate equations in Shu Shu Jiu Zhang in chapter III. Before considering the contents of these subjects, we must know more about the available versions of these two books in chapter I, otherwise we cannot know whether Seki Kowa could have obtained them. It seems certain that Seki Kowa studied the Yang Hui Sum Fa, but I cannot know whether he studied the Shu Shu Jiu Zhang. However, Seki Kowa's method of solving indeterminate equations is very similar to that of Qin Jiushao, especially when their methods of changing negative constants into positive are similar. La conspiration decouverte, ses promoteurs, contraints d'avouer leurs crimes, avaient ete "juges" et justement chaties a la grande satisfaction du peuple. Des milliers de personnes ont ete deportees au camp boiro qui etait a la fois un camp de reeducation et un camp d'extermination. Le lien entre ces deux notions fait l'objet de cette these. Nous avons voulu, en outre, faire le lien entre les systemes politiques autoritaires et l'institution totalitaire de reeducation. C'est generalement dans les periodes politiques critiques que la necessite de transformer le systeme educatif ou de reeducation se fait le plus sentir. Aussi, les "revolutionnaires" exigent-ils un changement de l'institution scolaire a la mesure de leur volonte de batir la societe nouvelle. Le but avoue est de faconner un homme nouveau qui correspondrait a la societe qu'ils veulent edifier. Les systemes educatifs centralises entre les mains de l'etat et du parti contribuent a l'"integration" politique des individus jusqu'a leur desintegration psychique et physique, car le totalitarisme tend vers des solutions "totales" ou "finales".

As poverty alleviation projects are being established in communities in order to reduce the impact of unemployment, crime, and inequality as well as other factors propagating poverty, numerous projects fail to democratically meet the needs of the poor majority. Development initiatives brought forth by government and non-governmental organisations, which adopt a top-down approach in order to accelerate development, do not always have a positive effect on the community, especially on the poor majority, which development is meant to empower and benefit. This results in the short life span of the project and leads the community into immense poverty. Thus, the focus of this research paper was to evaluate the extent to which poverty alleviation projects such as the Seki Women’s Foundation, contribute towards the alleviation of poverty in its community, located in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth. This evaluation study focused more on aspects of development concerning community participation, empowerment through skills training and project sustainability. The objectives of the study were to investigate the values, aims and objectives of the Seki Women’s Foundation; how these values, aims and objectives were fulfilled; the challenges faced by the project towards effective community development and the determinants of the long-term sustainability of the project. The research study adopted a qualitative approach, which allowed the researcher to collect meaningful knowledge from the volunteers and stakeholders by conducting semi-structured interviews and a focus group which were guided by open-ended questions. The data was thematically analysed where important concepts were coded in order to obtain accurate information so that valid results could be reached. The main findings of the research study suggested that the contribution made by the Seki Women’s Foundation towards poverty alleviation and community development is to empower the volunteers and community through skills training in baking, gardening and sewing. The volunteers share these skills amongst community members, enabling them to be self-sufficient and implement the skills in their own surroundings. The project builds strong partnerships with the stakeholders by being accountable and transparent about the utilisation of funds through report formulation. Although the project implements some principles of community development, the full participation of volunteers in the development process remains a concern, especially in decision making. The challenges faced by the project are concerned with burglary of clothing containers, stealing of vegetation and garden tools and the community not buying the products sold by the project. The research study recommends that the volunteers reason with the community and instil trust and honesty to avoid crime. The project should instil authentic participation in all development processes and form a partnership with local shops in convincing them to sell their produce as this will allow some income to generate within the project and community.

Five-needle white pines (Family Pinaceae, Genus Pinus, Subgenus Strobus), and in particular whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis), limber pine (P. flexilis), and foxtail pine (P. balfouriana) are foundation species in upper subalpine and treeline forests of several National Park Service Pacific West Region parks, including Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (SEKI) and Yosemite National Park (YOSE). The Sierra Nevada Network Inventory & Monitoring Program, in collaboration with the Klamath Network, Upper Columbia Basin Network, and Mojave Desert Network have implemented a joint long-term monitoring protocol to assess the current status and future trends in high elevation white pine communities. Key demographic parameters within white pine forest communities will be estimated by monitoring individual trees within permanent plots through time. This report documents the results of the 2021 field season, which was the eighth year of monitoring in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (SEKI) and Yosemite National Park (YOSE). The 2021 goal was to complete the third full re-measure of the second of three rotating panels (Panel 2) for each species-park population: YOSE-whitebark pine, SEKI-whitebark pine, and SEKI-foxtail pine. Each panel consists of 12 permanent 50 x 50 m (2,500 m2) plots that were randomly selected for each of the three populations. The full sampling array thus includes a total of 36 whitebark pine plots in YOSE, 36 whitebark pine plots in SEKI, and 36 foxtail pine plots in SEKI. Data from plot surveys will be used to characterize white pine forest community dynamics in SEKI and YOSE, including changes in tree species composition, forest structure, forest health, and demographics. The first full measure of all Panel 2 plots was completed over two years in 2013-2014, then a full remeasure of both parks? whitebark pine Panel 2 was conducted in 2016, with 10 of 12 SEKI-foxtail plots sampled that year. A third remeasure of all Panel 2 plots was not possible in 2021 because a smaller crew size was necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, the crew visited 37 sites, and sampled 31, during the 2021 field season. One plot in the YOSE whitebark pine frame was uninstalled before reading and one plot in the SEKI whitebark pine frame was uninstalled after reading, both for safety concerns. Four plots were not visited due to lack of capacity with the reduced crew size: one in each of the YOSE and SEKI whitebark frames, and three in the SEKI foxtail frame. A plot from Panel 3 in each of the parks? whitebark frames was measured, for a total of 11 plots measured in each whitebark pine frame. Nine plots were measured in the SEKI foxtail pine frame. Within the 31 plots completed, a total of 5,728 trees was measured. Species composition, forest structure, and factors affecting tree health and reproduction, including incidence and severity of white pine blister rust (Cronartium ribicola) infection, mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae) infestation, dwarf mistletoe (Arceuthobium spp.) infection, canopy kill, female cone production and regeneration were recorded. During the 2021 field season, crews continued to count the total number of mature cones per tree for whitebark and foxtail pine, use crown condition codes to assess crown health, and tag individual seedlings to be tracked through time. All three of these procedures started in 2017 and are to be evaluated by each of the three participating networks over several years, to determine whether they should become permanent changes to the monitoring protocol. In YOSE, 11 whitebark pine plots were re-measured, from Panels 2 and 3. A total of 2,810 trees were sampled, which included 586 live whitebark pine trees and 2,097 other live conifers. An additional 127 trees (including 17 whitebark pine) were recorded as dead. The forest crew noted little sign of white pine blister rust (WPBR) in Yosemite in 2021, and just a single inactive canker was observed on one whitebark pine in Panel 3, Plot 42, near Dana Meadows. This infection was new to plot 42, and it expands the total number of plots where white pine blister rust has been documented in Yosemite to six. The crew also noted little mountain pine beetle activity, documenting beetle galleries on 15 lodgepole pines in three Panel 2 plots. Dwarf mistletoe was not observed. The average number of live whitebark pine trees per plot was 53 (SD = 56). This was a low cone crop year for whitebark pine, with two percent of live whitebark pine trees producing female cones. Cone bearing trees averaged 2 (SD = 1) cones per tree. Whitebark pine seedling density averaged 90 (SD = 157) seedlings per hectare. The largest number of whitebark pine seedlings found in a plot was four, and three of the eleven plots contained whitebark seedlings. In SEKI, 10 of 12 Panel 2, and one Panel 3, whitebark pine plots were re-measured. Within these plots, 1,246 live whitebark pine, 30 live foxtail pine, and 861 other live conifers were sampled. WPBR was infrequently documented in the SEKI whitebark frame as well, with indicators of infection in Plot 31 near Window Creek and Plot 44 near Upper State Lake. These were the first infections documented in these plots, bringing the number of plots where WPBR has been documented in the SEKI whitebark panel to nine. Although WPBR was documented in Plot 27 near Charlotte Dome in 2016, it was not documented this year because putative cankers showing three signs of infection in 2016 showed only two or fewer signs in 2021. Mountain pine beetle activity was observed in one live lodgepole pine and two recently dead whitebark pine, within three plots in the SEKI whitebark sample frame. An exception to the low levels of mountain pine beetle activity was outside Plot 31 in the Window Creek area, where the forest crew noted many recently dead whitebark pine with signs of beetle activity. Dwarf mistletoe was not encountered. The average number of live whitebark pine trees per plot was 113 (SD = 86). Less than one percent of live whitebark pine trees produced female cones, each producing on average 2 (SD = 1) cones. Whitebark seedling regeneration averaged 303 (SD = 319) seedlings per hectare. The largest number of whitebark seedlings found in a plot was eight, and eight of the 11 plots contained whitebark seedlings. Nine of the 12 SEKI foxtail Panel 3 plots were remeasured. Within these plots, 413 live foxtail pine, 67 live whitebark pine, and 402 other live conifers were sampled. Ninety-two dead or recently dead trees were also documented, 65 of which were foxtail pine. No signs of blister rust infection, mistletoe, or mountain pine beetle were observed in the foxtail plots sampled. The average number of foxtail pine trees per plot was 46 (SD = 33). Fifty-four percent of the foxtail pine trees produced female cones, averaging 14 (SD =15) cones/tree. Only one foxtail pine seedling was recorded within the 9 foxtail pine plots, resulting in an estimated 14 (SD = 41) seedlings per hectare. Eight whitebark pine seedlings were also found within two plots.

In total, the crew visited 36 sites during the 2022 field season, all from Panel 3. Within the 36 completed Panel 1 plots, a total of 6,398 trees were measured. Species composition, forest structure, and factors affecting tree health and reproduction including incidence and severity of white pine blister rust (Cronartium ribicola) infection, mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae) infestation, dwarf mistletoe (Arceuthobium spp.) infection, canopy kill, and female cone production were recorded. White pine blister rust (WPBR) aecia were observed on five whitebark pine in one plot in YOSE in 2022, and no trees in any plot had inactive cankers showing three or more indicators of WPBR. WPBR had previously been documented in this plot, so the number of plots where rust has ever been observed in Yosemite remains unchanged at six. However, an infection documented in plot 42 in 2021 was not observed again when the plot was resampled in 2022, so it is possible this number should be five. Mountain pine beetle activity was observed on one live whitebark pine and three live and one dead lodgepole pine in YOSE in 2022. Despite documentation of many stands impacted by beetle attack in the field crew notes, the quantified rate of MPB attack was lower than in 2021. Twenty-one percent of live whitebark pine trees produced female cones. Cone-bearing trees averaged 7 (SD = 10) cones/tree. Whitebark pine seedling density averaged 80 (SD = 152) seedlings per hectare. The largest number of whitebark pine seedlings found in a plot was 51 and five of the twelve plots contained whitebark seedlings. All 12 Panel 3 SEKI whitebark pine plots were measured in 2022, and installation was completed on four of these, so this Panel is now fully installed. Within these plots, 2,179 live whitebark pine, 10 live foxtail pine, and 297 other live conifers were sampled (including 5 live western white pine). The average number of live whitebark pine trees per plot was 181 (SD = 125). Although the crew observed white pine blister rust in seven SEKI whitebark Panel 3 plots, no active cankers (aecia) were observed, and no trees displayed 3 of 5 indicators, so no infections were quantified. Mountain pine beetle activity was observed in 18 live and 23 dead whitebark pine and 1 live and one dead lodgepole pine within three plots in SEKI. Dwarf mistletoe was not encountered. Seven percent of live whitebark pine trees produced female cones. Cone-bearing trees averaged 3.7 (SD = 3.6) cones/tree. Whitebark seedling regeneration averaged 700 (SD = 752) seedlings per hectare. The largest number of whitebark seedlings found in a plot was 19, and two of the 12 plots did not contain any whitebark seedlings. In the foxtail pine Panel 3, all 12 plots were measured in 2022, and installation was completed on two of these, so installation of the panel is now complete. Within these plots we measured 309 live foxtail pine, 302 live whitebark pine, and 380 other live conifers, including four live western white pine. An additional 112 dead or recently dead trees and 22 unidentified snags were also measured, 19 of which were foxtail pine. The average number of foxtail pine trees per plot was 26 (SD = 26). No signs of blister rust infection or mistletoe were observed on foxtail pine. Mountain pine beetle activity was observed on one dead foxtail pine, one live whitebark pine, and seven live and one dead lodgepole pines within four plots. Sixty-two percent of the foxtail pine trees produced female cones. Cone-bearing trees averaged 33 (SD = 53) cones/tree. Seven foxtail pine seedlings were recorded within five plots, resulting in an estimated 72 (SD = 98) seedlings per hectare. Eight whitebark pine seedlings and three lodgepole pine seedlings were also found within three additional plots.
