Background Axillary node dissection is considered a standard staging procedure in patients with breast cancer. The procedure is associated with significant morbidity and provides pathologists with many lymph nodes to evaluate. Methods A total of 174 women participated in a trial that included preoperative lymphoscintigraphy and intraoperative lymphatic mapping using a combination of a vital blue dye and radiocolloid mapping. Results The intraoperative lymphatic mapping correctly identified a sentinel lymph node (SLN) in 160 (92%) of 174 patients. One skip metastasis (0.7%) occurred in 136 wome

Abstract Understanding the underlying effects of ongoing selection is of interest to livestock breeding programs. Commercial livestock genotyping has generated datasets well-suited to explore how strong artificial selection has impacted the genome over very short time periods. We have developed a method for mapping ongoing polygenic selection in populations with temporally stratified genomic data called Generation Proxy Selection Mapping (GPSM). GPSM utilizes a genome-wide linear mixed model to identify allelic associations with an animal's generation number or some proxy (i.e., birth date). W

A common standard modulation for several high data rate wireless communication systems is Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM). It operates by splitting up large streams of data into several parallel streams with minimal data rates. Compared to single carrier modulation systems, OFDM offers various benefits. Some of these benefits are high transmission bit rates, great spectral efficiency, and sensitivity to frequency fading channels. However, there are drawbacks with OFDM. Among the major issues is the high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR), due to which the system complexity in

In this thesis I studied whether recent directional selection can be detected in two important genes, PHYTOCHROME A (PHYA) and FLOWERING LOCUS C1 (FLC1), related to the flowering time pathway. Advantages of multicarrier systems like better multipath propagation resistivity are redeemed by some disadvantages. The high peak to average power ratio of transmitted signal belongs to these disadvantages, for its inconvenience for high efficient power amplification. Despite widespread use of stakeholder approaches in environmental research, the tools and methodologies for mapping and involving actors are not particularly robust. Existing approaches can lead to methodological ambiguity, limited transparency in the process of stakeholder selection, and lack of robustness when monitoring and evaluating these processes. To respond to these challenges, we developed a tool for increasing objectivity of stakeholder mapping, engagement, and monitoring of co-creation processes. The tool provides a stepwise approach for users with little or no experience of partici

Abstract:
Wet gap crossings are one of the most complex maneuvers undertaken by military engineers, who, along with engineer planners, require better tools to increase the capacity for efficient use of limited bridging resources across the battlespace. Planning for bridging maneuvers often involves a complicated and inefficient system of ad hoc spreadsheets combined with an overreliance on the personal experience and training of subject matter experts (SMEs). Bridge Resource Inventory Database for Gap Emplacement Selection (BRIDGES) uses interactive mapping and database technology in order to streamline
