The objective of this research is to explore the feasibility of a chipless RFID tag that stores a data signature in the form of complex frequency plane singularities. To this end an existing chipless RFID tag, the notched elliptical dipole tag, was analyzed first with simulations and then measurements. In this thesis work, some basic concepts about desulphurizationof hot metal have been done based on a literature study. Two experimentaltrials have also been carried out to study the slags: one consider as areference and in the other trial, the amount of calcium carbide was reduced by150 kg. The average carbide efficiency has been improved from 21.3% in trial 1 to 26.0% in trail 2. The incorporation of the nanoparticles into lubricants (oils, greases) is however not straightforward. <p> Commercial vanilla ice cream and other frozen desserts from the United States were analyzed for ice crystal length using low-temperature scanning electron microscopy (LT-SEM). Average ice crystal length was determined using multiple micrographs of each sample/product. Out of the products tested, 11 out of 15 samples had an average ice crystal length above the consumer sensory threshold limit of 55 µm. The elemental composition of the samples of modern and archaeological ceramics was determined using the energy dispersive X-ray analysis, flame atomic absorption spectrometry, titrimetric and spectrophotometric analysis methods. It has been shown that the qualitative and quantitative composition of all the samples is different. It has been established that silicon and aluminium are the main elements in all the samples. This thesis compares soot created during accelerated filter loading by lowered rail pressure, with soot from normal filter loading. First, zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized with small amounts of transition metal ions to create materials called dilute magnetic semiconductors (DMS).
