Abstract:
Since the development of CCS and other process algebras, many extensions to these process algebras have been proposed to model different aspects of concurrent computation. It is important both theoretically and practically to understand the relationships between these process algebras and between the semantic equivalences that are defined for them. In this thesis, I investigate the comparison of semantic equivalences based on bisimulation which are defined for process algebras whose behaviours are described by structured operational semantics, and expressed as labelled transition systems. With the increasing computational performance per Watt provided by multi-/many-core architectures, several industries are facing a transition from single-core to multi-/many-core systems. In this context, the partitioning and integration of mixed-criticality applications on top of multi-/many-core architectures is a serious challenge for embedded-software architects. Comparative constructions allow individuals to be compared according to different properties. Such comparisons form two classes, those that permit direct, comparisons (comparisons of measurements as in Seymour is taller than he is wide) and those that only allow indirect comparisons (comparisons of relative positions on separate scales as in Esme is more beautiful than Einstein is intelligent). Traditionally, these two types of comparisons have been associated with an ambiguity in the interpretations of the comparative and equative morphemes (see, Bartsch & Vennemann, 1972; Kennedy, 1999). Real-time systems are amongst the most safety critical systems involving computer software and the incorrect functioning of this software can cause great damage, up to and including the loss of life. Because of the high level of functional programming languages, their semantic simplicity and their amenability to formal reasoning and correctness preserving transformation it thus seems natural to use a functional language for this task. These composite representations subsequently facilitate responses to target items, but it is only with a combination of items (e.g. a knife and a tyre) that is

In reality each Latin American country has unique characteristics with sectors that collectively span much of the risk/reward spectrum. For example, Mexico is perceived to be highly correlated with the United States while Argentina and Brazil seem less so. On the other hand, the interrelation betw

Abstract:
An analysis of waveforms, power spectral density and array responses was performed using geophones and broadband seismometers, co-deployed as part of a geologically motivated study. Broadband seismometers record excellent waveforms but, due to cost and deployment effort, wavefields are usually spatially aliased above ~0.1 Hz. Industry rapidly deploys many thousands of inexpensive, passive geophones to record full, unaliased seismic wavefields; however, waveform quality is limited below the instrument's natural frequency of ≥2 Hz. In 2012, coincident passive and controlled-source seismic surve

Given its vast population, India has one of the highest absolute numbers of people with intellectual disability (PwIDs) in the world. Studies have placed the prevalence as high as 3.1% of children aged between 2 to 5 years and 5.2% of children aged between 6 to 9 years. India recently passed the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act), to align itself with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This thesis applied the complementary methods of the review of academic and grey literature, document analysis of the RPwD Act, and in-depth inform

<p>Color has been significant in visual arts for as long as the art-forms have existed. Still images and movies have long used colors and color grading effects to affect the viewer and characterize the work. In recent years attempts have been made to bring these techniques of stylizing also to interactive games. This dissertation aims to compare two different approaches of performing real-time color grading for games. Focus is put on examining the two ways from a number of different perspectives and from there draw conclusions on advantages and disadvantages of the approaches. The results show

The objective of this research is to analyze residential, unsecuritized and securitized real estates’ ability to hedge inflation in Sweden and compare it to stocks’, bonds’ and gold’s ability to hedge inflation. This research is based on both descriptive statistical and econometric analysis methodology with use of both quarterly and annual data series. First are the correlations between assets and actual, expected and unexpected inflation analyzed. Inflation betas are then estimated for all assets based on an ordinary least square model. The results indicate that, during the researched period 1
