Not many people think of design when they hear the word forklift. It is a vehicle associated with labor, a machine that has the purpose of making work more efficient and profitable. Though that is true, for a company producing forklifts can the design be a very important factor for a lucrative business. A forklift that can express high functionality is more capable to compete on the market. This thesis describes the product development of a forklift for the company Semax. The work is a design project and focuses on the visual expression of the product. The goal was to improve the exterior to be more cohesive and more aesthetically pleasing. The report covers certain methods that can be used during a design project of this nature. It will explain the process in the order it was conducted and describes research, findings, ideation and result.

Este trabalho analisa os principais métodos ágeis utilizados em empresas startup, como scrum, extreme programming, kanban e lean, isolando suas práticas e mapeando-as no Kernel do SEMAT para escolher os elementos essenciais da engenharia de software que estão relacionados a cada prática de forma independente. Foram identificadas 34 práticas que foram reduzidas a um conjunto de 26 pelas similaridades. Um questionário foi desenvolvido e aplicado no ambiente de startups de software para a avaliação do grau de utilização de cada determinada prática. Através das respostas obtidas foi possível a identificação de um subconjunto de práticas com utilização acima de 60% onde todos os elementos essenciais da engenharia de software são atendidos, formando um conjunto mínimo de práticas capazes de sustentar este tipo específico de ambiente.<br>This work analyses the main agile methods used in startup companies such as scrum, extreme programming, kanban and lean, isolating their practices and mapping them on SEMAT Kernel to choose the essential elements of software engineering that are related to each practice independently. 34 practices were identified and reduced to a set of 26 by similarities. A questionnaire was developed and implemented in software startups environment to evaluate the usage degree of each particular practce. Through the responses obtained it was possible to identify a subset adopted by more than 60% of respondents where all the essential elements of software engineering are met, forming a minimum set of practices capable of sustaining this specific type of environment.

This study investigates the reported language use of one bilingual Semai community, a linguistic minority in Peninsular Malaysia. The Semai is the largest indigenous group in the peninsular and the language, Semai, is generally an oral language. Semai bilingual speakers are faced with choices in language behaviour that will determine whether or not the Semai language will be maintained. Given the fact that the future of the Semai language depends on its actual use, this study was undertaken to examine the reported language use patterns and the factors that contribute to maintenance or shift in one Semai community. Data for this study were collected primarily through self-administered questionnaire as well as semi-structured interviews and participant observation.;Quantitative and qualitative analyses suggest that there are no gender and age effects in the reported pattern of language use and that the community is experiencing stable diglossia. While Semai functions as the in-group language, Malay is reserved for out-group communication and used in formal domains. Additionally, results show that there is intergenerational transmission of the language to the younger generation. The reported language use patterns in the sample population appear to suggest a trend towards maintenance. Findings in the study also reveal that respondents in the sample population have a high perception of Semai vitality and a positive attitude toward their language, which they perceive as being a substantial part of their cultural identity. These findings suggest that socio-psychological factors are important and contribute to maintenance efforts in the community. This study concludes by positing that demographic factors, the values and attitudes of the people and religious homogeneity found in the community play an important role in the maintenance of the Semai language.

A leishmaniose é causada por tripanossomatídeos do gênero Leishmania que infectam preferencialmente macrófagos. Vários factores influenciam a forma e a severidade da doença: a espécies de Leishmania e a resposta imune do hospedeiro. Considerando a importância da ativação dos macrófagos na infecção, o potencial papel de CD100 na modulação da ativação dos macrófagos e os nossos dados anteriores de que CD100 solúvel (sCD100) aumenta a infectividade pelo parasita, pretendemos caracterizar os efeitos do CD100 na infecção por Leishmania (L.) amazonensis. Descobrimos que ambos, promastigotas e amastigotas, são mais infecciosos na presença de sCD100 e que o receptor CD72 é o responsável pelo aumento da infecção. Experimentos in vitro indicaram índice de infecção similares entre macrófagos nocautes para CD100 e selvagens, mas curiosamente, os animais nocautes infectados desenvolveram lesões significativamente menores do que os selvagens, sugerindo que sCD100 presente em outras células pode influenciar a formação da lesão.<br>Leishmaniasis is caused by trypanosomes of the genus Leishmania that preferentially infect macrophages. Several factors influence the form and severity of the disease: the species of Leishmania and the host immune response. Considering the importance of the activation of macrophages in infection, potential role of CD100 in the modulation of macrophage activation and our previous data that CD100 soluble (sCD100) increase the infectivity of the parasite, we intend to characterize the effect of CD100 in infection with Leishmania (L.) amazonensis. We found that both promastigotes and amastigotes, are most infectious in the presence of sCD100 and the CD72 receptor is responsible for the increased infection. In vitro experiments indicated similar infection rate of macrophages to CD100 knockouts and wild type, but interestingly, the infected knockout animals developed significantly smaller lesions than wild type suggesting that sCD100 present in other cells may influence lesion formation.

Syftet med den här rapporten är att behandla frågeställningar utifrån projektet, vars mål är att utveckla ett Augmented Reality-ramverk för att skapa värde för en kund, BioOptico. Punkter som programmeringsmiljön Unitys lämplighet vid utveckling av mobila AR-applikationer, hur BioVision kan implementeras så att det ger värde för BioOptico, vilka erfarenheter som kan dokumenteras efter arbetet med projektet och vilket stöd SEMAT Kernel ALPHA ger för det här projektet behandlas i den här rapporten. För att besvara dessa frågor används verktygen Unity och SEMAT Kernel ALPHA state cards under utvecklingen av BioVision. Genom agil utveckling och framtagning av tidiga prototyper undersöks vilka implementationssätt som ger värde för BioOptico och vilken dokumentation av erfarenheter som kan vara intressant för framtida projekt. Som resultat dokumenteras de områden där Unity lämpar sig väl för utveckling av mobila AR-applikationer, vilka de viktigaste beståndsdelarna var för hur BioVision implementerades så att det ger värde för BioOptico och vilka erfarenheter och vilket stöd som ges av utveckling av BioVision respektive användning av SEMAT Kernel ALPHA:s. Som slutsats ses Unity som en lämplig utvecklingsmiljö för utveckling av AR-applikationer, medan SEMAT Kernel ALPHA kan vara användbart, dock överflödigt, vid utveckling av BioVision. De viktigaste lärdomarna att ta med sig från projektet är att planera, utveckla och dokumentera i god tid. Slutligen dras slutsatsen om att strukturen på projektet och inte bara produkten som skapas spelar en stor roll för hur applikationen kan ge värde för BioOptico.

En el presente estudio se analiza la danza sema de Mevlânâ Celâleddin Rumi como símbolo y comunicación no-verbal con Dios. Se recoge la rica experiencia de este místico para aproximarnos desde su visión a las realidades espirituales que vivía mediante las obras de sus discípulos, quienes compilaron las enseñanzas y aspectos de la vida diaria de su maestro. En el primer capítulo se estudia el pensamiento espiritual de Mevlânâ Celâleddin Rumi. Incluye algunas reflexiones de Rumi y del aspecto simbólico de sus recitaciones, esclareciendo los mismos desde su visión islámica de la espiritualidad, como así también comentarios de sus primeros biógrafos y compiladores sobre su vida y el ejercicio de la danza sema. En el segundo capítulo se lleva a cabo una aproximación semiótica a la danza sema analizando la danza misma del sema como un vehículo hacia el éxtasis místico. A continuación, se incluye una aproximación psicológica a la danza sema de Rumi y el estado místico aproximándonos a ellos desde la psicología y las neurociencias. Finalmente, también se ponen en valor, los aportes que el sema tiene, complementariamente, en lo terapéutico. Se analiza, asimismo, la influencia del maestro sufí en la psicología del derviche como guía, ayuda y compañero en su desarrollo.<br>This dissertation provides an analysis of the sema of Mevlânâ Celâleddin Rumi as a symbol and non-verbal communication with God. The rich experience of this Islamic Sufi is collected to be able to approach from his particular vision towards the spiritual realities that have been lived through. The works of his disciples who compiled the teachings and aspects of their master’s daily life is used. The first chapter analyzes the spiritual thought of Mevlânâ Celâleddin Rumi. It includes some thoughts of Rumi and the symbolic aspect of his recitations, clarifying them from his Islamic vision of spirituality, as well as comments of his first biographers and compilers about his life and the exercise of the sema. The second chapter, that examines the sema as a vehicle to the mystical ecstasy, analyzes the semiotic approach towards sema. Then, it involves the psychological perspective of Rumi’s sema. Besides, we can observe that sema and mystical state are viewed from a psychological and neuroscience. Finally, it emphasizes how sema can complementarily contribute to the therapy. At the same time, the influence of the Sufi master in psychology as a dervish, guide, supporter, and partner in the development is touched upon here.

La régénération axonale suite à des lésions du SNC est limitée par des facteurs intrinsèques et extrinsèques aux neurones adultes. Mon projet vise à déterminer, s’il est possible, en transformant le signal répulsif de Sema3A en attraction, d’améliorer la régénération des axones dans un modèle murin de lésion médullaire. Afin de tester cette hypothèse, j’ai utilisé un peptide mimétique de L1CAM capable de bloquer l’inhibition de pousse neuritique liée à Sema3A. Parce que l’activité du peptide dépend étroitement de la coexpression de L1 et Nrp1 sur les axones, je me suis intéressé à leur distribution dans la moelle épinière adulte. L’administration du peptide in vivo n’a de façon surprenante aucun effet sur la récupération de la fonction motrice ou sur la régénération axonale. Je me suis ensuite intéressé au rôle que pouvait avoir l’environnement sur l’activité du peptide. Un modèle de culture sur cryosection m’a permis de montrer que l’effet du peptide était perdu dans un contexte adulte. De façon intéressante, l’effet de répulsion lié à de la Sema3A exogène est également perdu dans ce contexte. Ces résultats indiquent que la modulation du signal Sema3A par le peptide mimétique de L1CAM n’est pas sufffisante pour améliorer la régénération axonale et la récupération fonctionnelle suite à une lésion de moelle épinière et suggèrent que Sema3A n’est pas directement responsable de l’absence de régénération axonale<br>Lack of axonal regeneration after injury of the adult CNS is attributable to specific features of adult environment and to a reduction in the growth ability of adult axons. We examined whether Sema3A that is upregulated at the site of spinal cord injury exerts a direct effect on axons. To test this hypothesis, we made use of a L1 mimetic able to block growth cone collapse and neurite length reduction that are mediated by Sema3A. Because activity of the peptide relies on the presence of L1 and Nrp1 on axons, we checked for expression of these in the adult spinal cord and show that L1 and Nrp1 colocalize on a subset of axons in the dorsolateral funiculus. Strikingly, delivery of L1 mimetic peptide to mice whose spinal cord was injured did not reveal any improvement of motor recovery or of axonal regeneration. To understand this failure, I developed an assay in which embryonic neurons were grown on sections of adult naïve or injured spinal cord. Injured spinal cord sections reduced neurite length compared to naïve sections, however addition of L1 mimetic peptide did not block this effect, confirming our in vivo results. Strikingly, addition of recombinant Sema3A in this model did not reduce neurite length indicating that adult spinal cord environment is likely to prevent Sema3A signaling. Together, our results show that modulation of Sema3A signal by the L1 mimetic peptide does not promote axon regeneration or motor recovery and suggest that Sema3A does not directly prevent axonal regrowth after spinal cord injury

An evaluation of thesis reports performed by students from the degree programme Computer Engineering, TIDAB, that was made by UKÄ, The Swedish Higher Education Authority, showed that there was a lack of consideration of environmental and sustainability aspects in the thesis reports, leading to many students not meeting the criteria in the degree objectives regarding this aspect. The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to improve students’ ability in considering the important aspects of sustainability in their thesis works, by providing them with guidelines which they can follow and implement during their thesis work that will enable them to reach the level ‘Very High Quality’. A literature study was performed thoroughly in conjunction with reviewing previous thesis reports and conducting expert interviews as an approach to find a solution to the problem. The outcome of the analysis was three methods that was developed, which the students can use as guidelines in their thesis work. A set of guidelines, a table with skill sets and the SEMAT Essence Kernel card for sustainable development was the resulting methods that will help the students to at minimum accomplish the criteria for ‘High Quality’ on the objective "Demonstrate an understanding of technology capabilities and limitations, its role in society and people’s responsibility for its use, including social and economic aspects, environmental and safety aspects" when the methods are followed.<br>En utvärdering av examensarbeten utförda av studenter från utbildningsprogrammet Datateknik, TIDAB, gjort av UKÄ, Universitetskanslersämbetet, visade att det fanns en brist på hänsynstagande till miljö- och hållbarhetsaspekter i rapporterna, vilket ledde till att flera studenter inte uppfyllde kriterierna i examensmålen gällande denna aspekt. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att förbättra elevernas förmåga att ta hänsyn till de viktiga aspekterna av hållbarhet i sina examensarbeten genom att ge dem riktlinjer som de kan följa och genomföra under sina examensarbeten, som gör det möjligt för dem att uppnå nivån ’Mycket Hög Kvalité’. En litteraturstudie genomfördes noggrant i samband med genomgång av tidigare examensarbeten, och intervjuer med ledande experter gjordes, som en metod för att hitta en lösning på problemet. Utfallet av den utförda analysen var tre metoder som har utvecklats, vilket studenterna kan använda som riktlinjer i sina examensarbeten. En uppsättning av riktlinjer, en tabell med kompetenser och SEMAT Essence Kernel kort för hållbar utveckling var de resulterande metoder, som ska hjälpa studenterna att åtminstone uppnå kriterierna för ’Hög Kvalité’ på målet "Visa förståelse för tekniska möjligheter och begränsningar, dess roll i samhället och människors ansvar för dess användning, inklusive sociala och ekonomiska aspekter, miljö- och hållbarhetsaspekter" när metoderna följs.

(some col.)<br>The Demosion Sema ["Public Tomb"] was an area of the Kerameikos in Athens that in the 5th and 4th centuries BCE functioned as the state burial ground--the repository of mass graves for those who had lost their lives in war. In an annual ritual known as the patrios nomos ["the ancestral custom"], the war-dead were eulogized and publicly mourned. Their mass graves [ polyandria ] were regularly marked by marble monuments with reliefs of soldiers in combat, under which the names of the dead were listed according to their tribe, but without demotic or patronymic information. This thesis explores the various aspects of the patrios nomos and the iconography of the funerary monuments of the state burial ground. By analyzing features of the ritual, such as the attendant funeral orations ( epitaphios logos ), and aspects of the imagery found in the polyandria , we are able to learn not only about the function of the Demosion Sema within the Athenian polis but also how Athenians mourned and remembered their war-dead within the context of a democratic ideology.<br>Committee in charge: Jeffrey M. Goiás aims to analyze the execution of the Social Assistance Policy financing by the
Municipal Social Assistance Department of Goiania-GO, SEMAS, problematizing
about the tense relationship between the guarantee of social rights of the working
class and the nuances of a conservative society. In the research on the financing of
the Social Assistance Policy, the studies relapsed on the State and social policy in
the context of the Brazilian society. And to understand the nuances of the object of
study in its concreteness it was necessary to problematize the sources and the
application of the financial resources allocated by the three entities of the federation,
in the municipal social welfare fund and in SEMAS. The starting point were questions
about the execution of social assistance financial resources in the municipality of
Goiania, Goiás, in the management from 2013 to 2016, inquiring about the fulfillment
of the planning of the actions in relation to the municipal assistance plan and fund In
Goiania-Go, based on the sources examined in documentary research. In the
analysis of data, the budgetary allocation of the financial resources for the basic and
special social protection of the programs, benefits and projects and the execution by
the SEMAS during the period under study were analysed.<br>Esta dissertação defendida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Serviço Social da
PUC Goiás objetiva analisar a execução do financiamento da Política de Assistência
Social pela Secretaria Municipal de Assistência Social de Goiânia-GO, SEMAS,
problematizando a tensa relação entre a garantia de direitos sociais da classe
trabalhadora e os matizes de uma sociedade conservadora. Na investigação, os
estudos recaíram sobre o Estado e a política social no contexto da sociedade
brasileira. E, para apreender as matizes do objeto de estudo em sua concretude, foi
necessário problematizar as fontes e a aplicação dos recursos financeiros alocados
pelos três entes da federação no Fundo Municipal de Assistência Social e na
SEMAS. O ponto de partida foram os questionamentos sobre a execução dos
recursos financeiros da assistência social no município de Goiânia, Goiás, na gestão
de 2013 a 2016, indagando sobre o cumprimento do planejamento das ações face
ao plano e ao Fundo Municipal da Assistência Social em Goiânia–Go, com base em
fontes examinadas em pesquisa documental. Na análise de dados, averiguou-se a
dotação orçamentária dos recursos financeiros destinados à proteção social básica e
especial, aos programas, benefícios e projetos assim como a sua execução pela
SEMAS no período em estudo.

ow of information that pass through these systems has meant that the security becomes an item of constant
concern. Even when considering the efficient encryption systems that exists today, which present relevant mathematical protection, some implementations in hardware of these systems will favor the leak of confidential information through side channels attacks, such as
power consumption and electromagnetic radiation. Performance issues have fundamental importance in the design of a physical system, however aspects which make the system
robust against side channel attacks has gotten more attention nowadays.This work focuses on hardware architectures based on the RSA public key algorithm,
proposed by Rivest, Shamir and Adleman in 1977, which presents the modular exponentiation
operation, calculated from several modular multiplications, as main operation. The
RSA algorithm involves integers in order of 1024 or 2048 bits, so the division inherent in
modular multiplications can become a major problem. In order to avoid these divisions,
the Montgomery algorithm, proposed in 1985, appears as an efficient alternative.
On this context, this dissertation presents a multiplexed architecture based on the
properties of the Montgomery's algorithm. Forwarding, an improvement to this architecture
is presented, implemented with the randomization of internal memories accesses, in
order to increase system robustness against specialized side-channel attacks. Thus, the
implemented architecture is exposed to side channels SPA (Simple Power Analysis) and
SEMA (Simple Electromagnetig Analysis) and the aspects of security and robustness of
the implemented system are evaluated and presented.<br>A constante expansão dos sistemas de comunicação de dados devido ao grande fluxo de informações que trafegam por estes sistemas tem feito com que a segurança se torne um item de constante preocupação. Mesmo ao considerar-se os eficientes sistemas de criptografia atuais, os quais apresentam relevante proteção matemática, a implementação em hardware destes sistemas tende a propiciar a fuga de informações confidenciais através de ataques por canais laterais, como consumo de potência e emissão eletromagnética. Mesmo sabendo-se que questões de desempenho tem fundamental importância no projeto de um sistema físico, aspectos que tornem o sistema robusto frente a ataques por canais laterais tem obtido maior atenção nos últimos anos. Neste trabalho apresentam-se arquiteturas implementadas em hardware para o cálculo
do algoritmo de chave pública RSA, proposto por Rivest, Shamir e Adleman em 1977, o qual tem como principal operarção a exponenciação modular, calculada a partir de várias
multiplicações modulares. Sabendo-se que o algoritmo RSA envolve números inteiros da ordem de 1024 ou 2048 bits, a divisão inerente em multiplicações modulares pode tornar-se
o grande problema. A fim de que se evite estas divisões, o algoritmo de Montgomery, proposto em 1985, aparece como uma boa alternativa por também trabalhar em um contexto de precisão múltipla e com números na base numérica de potência de dois.
Neste contexto apresenta-se inicialmente uma arquitetura multiplexada, baseada nas propriedades de execução do algoritmo de Montgomery. A seguir apresenta-se uma melhoria
a esta arquitetura com a implementação da randomização dos acessos as memórias internas, com o objetivo de aumentar a robustez do sistema frente a ataques por canais laterais especializados. Neuropilin (Nrp) is an essential cell surface receptor with dual functionality in the cardiovascular and nervous systems. The first identified Nrp-ligand family was the Semaphorin-3 (Sema3) family of axon repulsion molecules. Subsequently, Nrp was found to serve as a receptor for the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family of pro-angiogenic cytokines. In addition to its physiological role, VEGF signaling via Nrp directly contributes to cancer stemness, growth, and metastasis. Thus, the Nrp/VEGF signaling axis is a promising anti-cancer therapeutic target. Interestingly, it has recently been shown that Sema3 and VEGF are functionally opposed to one another, with Sema3 possessing potent endogenous anti-angiogenic activity and VEGF serving as an attractive cue for neuronal axons. We hypothesized that direct competition for an overlapping binding site within the Nrp extracellular domain may explain the observed functional competition between VEGF and Sema3. To test this hypothesis we have separately investigated the mechanisms of VEGF and Sema3 binding to Nrp. Utilizing structural biology coupled with biophysics and biochemistry we have identified both distinct and common mechanisms that facilitate the interaction between Nrp and these two ligand families. Specifically, we have identified an Nrp binding pocket to which these ligands competitively bind. The Sema3 family uniquely requires proteolytic activation in order to engage this overlapping binding site. These findings provide critical mechanistic insight into VEGF and Sema3 mediated physiology. Additionally, these data have informed the development of small molecules, peptides, and soluble receptor fragments that function as potent and selective inhibitors of VEGF/Nrp binding with exciting therapeutic potential for treating cancer.

Rapporten är en sammanställning av gruppens samlade erfarenheter och lärdomar av ett projekt vars syfte var att utveckla ett verktyg som ska visualisera svarstider mellan mobila klienter och datacenter. Genom att använda kontinuerlig prototypning har gruppen kunnat arbeta på ett användarna sätt för att uppfylla kundens verkliga behov. För att uppnå detta användes utvecklingsmetodiken Kanban. Under projektets gång anpassades metodiken för att bättra passa in i arbetet. Projektets användartester har lett till sammanfattande erfarenheter om visualisering av data. Visualiseringar som projektgruppen ansetts tydliga uppfattades inte alltid på samma sätt av användarna. Att visualisera flera parametrar på en världskarta anses vara problematiskt då kartan i sig endast består av länder. För visualisering av flera parametrar måste då även externa användas, exempelvis cirklar eller andra former.

This research shows the book’s originality as well as its philosophical influences and sequels. It also proves the uniqueness of a treatise which, probably for the first time ever, presented a thorough comparison between the three religions written by a fully-conversant author with a first-hand knowledge of all three cultures. Darbe sinchroniškai tiriama kalbėjimo veiksmažodžių semantinė ir formalioji struktūra, skiriamas dėmesys lietuvių grožinių kūrinių dialoginei kalbai ir ją įforminančioms kalbėjimo leksemoms. Kadangi šiame darbe lietuvių kalbos kalbėjimo veiksmažodžiai nagrinėjami semantiniu aspektu, todėl iš pradžių aptariamos pagrindinės leksinės semantikos sąvokos, apibūdinama kalbėjimo veiksmažodžių semantinė grupė (KSG).
Lingvistinėje literatūroje žodžio reikšmės ir jos raiškos formos vienovė vadinama semema. Į kalbėjimo veiksmažodžių semantinę grupę buvo atrinktos leksemos su sememomis „bendrauti žodžiais“, „perduoti informaciją, mintis, jausmus ir pan.,“ kurios įvardija kalbėjimo procesą. Sememos jungtos į KSG pagal jų komponentinės struktūros panašumą. Savo ruožtu sememos struktūra sudaryta iš minimalių semantikos vienetų – semų, kurios smulkiau nebeskaidomos. Kalbėjimo veiksmažodžių reikšmių analizė pagrįsta jų skaidymu į mažesnius reikšminius elementus, todėl tyrimui taikoma komponentinė analizė.
Kalbėjimo veiksmažodžių formaliosios struktūros analizė, t. y. derivacinių santykių tinklas, pirminių kalbėjimo veiksmažodžių šaknų fonologinė sudėtis, charakterizuoja tam tikros sistemos struktūros požymius. Šiame darbe nagrinėjama pirminių kalbėjimo veiksmažodžių šaknies struktūra, vokalizmo ir konsonantizmo padėties ypatumai, nustatomi būdingiausi šios semantinės grupės šaknų struktūriniai modeliai. Bazinių ir priklausomųjų morfemų skyrimas leidžia jungti žodžius į sistemines grupes... [toliau žr. visą tekstą]<br>The subject of the semantic and formal structure of the speaking verbs as well as dialogical speech of some pieces of Lithuanian fiction and, also, lexemes formed in it. As Lithuanian speaking verbs are analysed there in the semantic aspect, so in the beginning of the work the subject of the investigation is the meaning of the main semantic groups. Besides, the semantic group of the speaking verbs (KSG) is researched.
In the linguistic literature the meanings of the word and the unity of its expressiveness is called the semema. The lexemes with the sememas “to communicate orally”, “to transmit information, thoughts, emotions and etc.” were chosen to the semantic group of the speaking verbs. They describe the process of speaking. The sememas are included in KSG according to the principle of the similarity of their complex structure. The structure of the semema itself is built of the smallest semantic units called semes. However, there are good reasons to say that the analysis of the meanings of the speaking verbs proves that they are divided into the smaller elements. That is why the work presents the complex analysis of these verbs.
The analysis of the formal structure of the speaking verbs, i.e. the net of the derivation relationship, the structure of the basic phonemic speaking verbs’ branches, is characterized by the certain signs of the structure. L'optimisation de la purification des cellules d'îlots est essentielle pour faire progresser les thérapies cellulaires ciblant le diabète de type 1, nécessitant l'intégration de technologies innovantes, conformes aux normes GMP, afin de renforcer l'efficacité des processus, l'automatisation et l'évolutivité. Cette thèse analyse deux technologies majeures employées dans la purification des îlots. La première étude examine l'impact d'un nouveau système de refroidissement sur le processus de purification des cellules d'îlots. Ce système permet un contrôle précis de la température durant la purification par gradient de densité grâce à un refroidissement sous pression, stabilisant efficacement la température tout en préservant la stérilité de l'environnement de salle blanche GMP. Comme solution rentable et peu invasive, ce système de refroidissement présente également des applications potentielles pour d'autres équipements de thérapie cellulaire, dont la majorité est dépourvue d'option de refroidissement. Le principal axe de cette thèse porte sur l’adaptation du système Sepax C Pro - Sefia, une technologie en circuit fermé initialement conçue pour le traitement des cellules souches hématopoïétiques, à la purification des cellules d'îlots humains. Avec le retrait progressif du système Cobe 2991 en Europe d'ici 2025 et mondialement d'ici 2031, la plateforme Sepax C Pro - Sefia constitue une alternative automatisée et conforme aux normes GMP. Elle intègre l’automatisation des étapes critiques du processus de purification des îlots, réduit la manipulation manuelle et améliore la reproductibilité des processus, en s'imposant comme une solution innovante pour les applications cliniques et de recherche en transplantation d'îlots. À la suite de ces avancées, un brevet intitulé « Systèmes et Méthodes pour le Traitement des Tissus » a été déposé pour protéger la méthode innovante développée pour le système reconverti Sepax C Pro - Sefia, assurant ainsi la sécurisation de la propriété intellectuelle et facilitant son application future en milieu clinique. Grâce à l'intégration de ces innovations technologiques, y compris une méthode brevetée pour le traitement des tissus, cette thèse propose un cadre exhaustif pour le remplacement du système Cobe 2991, garantissant la continuité de l'isolement clinique des îlots et contribuant à des thérapies plus efficaces pour les patients atteints de diabète de type 1 (allogreffes), ainsi que pour ceux souffrant de pathologies pancréatiques (autogreffes)<br>The optimization of islet cell purification is crucial for advancing cell-based therapies for type 1 diabetes, requiring innovative, GMP-compliant technologies to improve process efficiency, automation, and scalability. This thesis evaluates two key technologies used in islet purification. The first study evaluates the impact of a novel cooling system on the islet cell purification process. This system ensures precise temperature control during density gradient purification by providing pressurized cooling, effectively stabilizing the temperature while maintains the sterility of the GMP cleanroom environment. As a cost-effective and minimally invasive solution, this cooling system holds promises to cool another cell therapy equipment the majority of which offer no cooling option.The core focus of My thesis is the repurposing of the Sepax 2C Pro- Sefia system, a closed-system technology originally developed for hematopoietic stem cell processing, for human islet cell purification. With the Cobe 2991 system being phased out in Europe by 2025 and globally by 2031, the Sepax 2 - Sefia platform offers a fully automated, GMP-compliant alternative. It automates key steps in the islet purification process, reduces manual handling, and improves process reproducibility, making it a ground-breaking solution for both clinical and research applications in islet transplantation. Building on the findings a patent: “Systems and Methods for Tissue Processing,” was filed to protect the novel approach developed for the repurposed Sepax 2 - Sefia system ensuring the intellectual property is secured and facilitating the future application of this system in clinical settings. Through the integration of these technological advancements, including a patented method for tissue processing, this thesis provides a comprehensive framework to replace the Cobe 2991 system, ensuring the continuity of clinical islet isolation and contributing to more effective therapies for patients with type1 diabetes (allografts) but also patients with pancreatic pathologies (autografts)

Historiquement séparées, sûreté et sécurité sont pourtant deux problématiques intimement liées. Si les trop rares initiatives de décloisonnement, adaptant notamment des outils d'un domaine à l'autre, ont abouti à des résultats convaincants, ce décloisonnement reste encore timide et son potentiel considérable. De plus, la récente convergence de risques de sécurité et de sûreté implique des interactions inédites entre exigences et mesures auparavant distinctes, dont la caractérisation nécessite une perspective globale. Dans ces conditions, ces travaux de thèse ont d'abord visé à mieux cerner les notions de sûreté et de sécurité. Ils ont conduit à un cadre référentiel dénommé SEMA (Système-Environnement Malveillant-Accidentel) permettant de positionner ces concepts l'un par rapport à l'autre selon les contextes. La complémentarité des outils de chaque discipline a ensuite été explorée. Cette démarche s'est concrétisée par l'adaptation des BDMP (Boolean logic Driven Markov Processes), issus de la sûreté, au domaine de la modélisation graphique d'attaques. Ils permettent de dépasser bien des limites des techniques classiquement employées. Enfin, l'extension des BDMP a été mise à profit pour fournir un formalisme intégratif, permettant de capturer graphiquement et de caractériser des situations où risques sûreté et sécurité s'exercent conjointement. Pour chacune de ces trois contributions, limites, améliorations et voies alternatives ont été identifiées. Elles n'auront sens que si les communautés de la sûreté et de la sécurité accentuent leur rapprochement, dont cette thèse se veut à la fois une manifestation et une invitation.

Daressy, les deux stèles conservées au Musée du Caire (RT 2/3/25/7 et JE 44901) constituent les seuls exemplaires connus à ce jour du décret de l’an 23 de Ptolémée Épiphane ; exclusivement rédigées en hiéroglyphique, elles présentent toutefois une parenté formelle et phraséologique avec les décrets des synodes sacerdotaux de ce règne dont certains ont été publiés dans les trois écritures d’usage pour ce type de documents(hiéroglyphique, grec et démotique). Cette étude se propose de fournir une édition normalisée suivant une édition synoptique de ces deux monuments accompagnée d’un apparat critique, d’une traduction, d’un commentaire philologique, de photographies et de fac-similés ; de même, afin d’effectuer l’étude philologique de ces textes, un recueil de traductions réactualisées des trois décrets antérieurs (Décret de Memphis II et les deux décrets dits « de Philae ») est présenté à partir de la version hiéroglyphique. Cette documentation épigraphique officielle, spécifique de l’époque ptolémaïque, constitue des sources de premier ordre pour l’étude des événements politiques qui eurent cours à la fin du règne dePtolémée V Épiphane (204-180 a.C.). Daressy, the two stones from the Cairo Museum (RT 2/3/25/7 and JE 44901) are the only known copies to-date of Ptolemy Epiphanes’ decree written in year 23 BC ; although exclusively written in hieroglyphic text, they clearly present formal and phraseological similarities with the decrees from the priestly synods of that reign, decrees which some of them were published in the three used kinds of writing (hieroglyphic, greek and demotic). This study aims to provide a normalized version following a synoptic version of those two monuments. It is accompanied by a critical apparatus, a translation, philological commentaries, photographs and facsimiles. Also, in order to present an accurate philological study of the texts, an upto- date translation of the three previous decrees (Decree of Memphis II and the two other said “Decrees of Philae”) is provided, based on the hieroglyphic version.This official epigraphic documentation, specific to the Ptolemaic period, forms a strong knowledge base that provides valuable insights on the political events which occurred at the end of Ptolemy Epiphanes’ reign (204-180 BC). The understanding of the relationship evolution between the Alexandrian Crown and the indigenous clergies relates to two problems. On one hand, the heterogeneity of the corpus acts these synodal decrees are part of. On the other hand, the paradox that constitutes this Ptolemaic dynast’s reign, presented as a key factor in the decline of the Alexandrian authority (in Egypt as well as in the Eastern Mediterranean regions), when numerous decrees were published stating the openhandeness towards the divinities and the Egyptian people

<p>Med anledning av att flera kriser av extraordinära slag har inträffat i fredstid har förmågan att hantera dessa fått stor uppmärksamhet. Ett exempel är stormen Gudrun som lamslog delar av Sverige i januari 2005. För att kunna hantera sådana kriser behövs en fungerande beredskap och här har kommunerna en viktig roll. Om kommunerna har en väl utvecklad krisberedskap kan samhället bättre klara av en kris. Genom utvärderingar och erfarenheter från kriser har det visat sig att samverkan mellan kommuner är av stor betydelse för en god krisberedskap. Därmed är det av intresse att studera hur en sådan kan utvecklas mellan kommuner. Vilka faktorer är viktiga för att samverkan ska utvecklas? Är ömsesidig förståelse mellan kommunerna av betydelse? Vilken vikt har förtroende och tillit för samverkan? Inverkar geografin och demografin på kommuners samverkan? Påverkas samverkan av resursberoende och ekonomiska faktorer? Vilken betydelse har politiska beslut för kommuners samverkan? Detta är uppsatsens fokus där samverkan mellan fem kommuner kring krisberedskap studeras med stöd av policynätverksteori med kollektiv handling.</p><p>Studien visade bland annat att faktorer såsom geografisk närhet, demografi, ekonomi och resursutbyte var viktiga för samverkan och skapandet av policynätverk bland de fem kommunerna. Även en samstämmig problemdefinition, förtroende och en ömsesidig förståelse mellan aktörerna inbegreps som betydelsefulla liksom regelverk samt Krisberedskapsmyndigheten (KBM) och Länsstyrelsen i Östergötland.</p><br><p>Through several crises of extraordinary nature in peacetime the capacity of emergency management has been brought up on to the agenda. Recently, in year 2005, Sweden faced a big storm named Gudrun that caused total devastation. In order to cope with crises like Gudrun a proficient emergency management has shown to be essential in which municipalities have a fundamental function. With a well developed emergency management at the local level society is better equipped to manage crises. According to research on and experiences from crises, cooperation and networking among municipalities is crucial for an efficient emergency management. Consequently there is an interest in studying how cooperation between municipalities can develop within the area of emergency management. Which factors are important for the development of cooperation? Is mutual understanding among the actors important? Which implications do trust and confidence have upon cooperation? Are resource dependencies and economic factors central for the shaping of policy network? Do the geographic and the demographic characterise municipalities’ cooperation? Do political decisions have any significant role in the shaping of policy network? This is the focus of the essay where cooperation between five municipalities in emergency management is studied using policy network theory with collective action.</p><p>The essay shows that geographical, demographically and economical factors as well as resource dependencies are important for cooperation and the development of policy networks among the five municipalities. Also important were a common foundation, trust and a mutual understanding between the actors. Additionally, new regulations and two authorities – Swedish Emergency Management Authority (SEMA) and the County administrative board of Östergötland – also influenced the cooperation in a positive way.</p>

The rapidly growing number of autonomous data sources on the web makes the need of effective tools of creating semantic mappings increasingly crucial. Moreover, the goal of allowing applications to have more expressive semantics requires a change in focus. While most previous work focus on creating mappings in specific data models for data transformation, they fail to capture a richer set of possible relationships between schema elements. For example, current schema matching approaches might discover that ’TA’ in one schema equals to ’grad TA’ in another one, even though the relationship can be modeled more accurately by saying that ’grad TA’ is a specialization of ’TA’. This increased semantics of the mapping in turn allows for applications involving richer semantics. In this thesis we concentrate on the following problem: given initial match (correspondence) information produced by current schema matching techniques, how to construct a complex, semantically richer mapping that can be used across data models? Specifically, we aim at detecting the relationship types of ’Has-a’, ’Is-a’, ’Associates’ and ’Equivalent’. Technically, we achieve this goal in mainly three steps: (1) exploiting various types of semantic evidence for possible matches; (2) finding a globally optimal match assignment; (3) identifying the relationship embedded in the selected matches. This dissertation consists of a contextual reading of the texts of Jeremiah on semah (23:5-6; 33:14-16), together with the related texts in Isaiah (4:2; 11:1-2) and Zechariah (3:8; 6:12). The context I am reading from is the present political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) and the leadership crisis since independence. I first approach the Masoretic Text (MT) in a synchronic way and I do not focus on a rigorous study of the texts in discussing their form, source and redaction criticism. To analyse the texts on "branch" in Jeremiah, Isaiah and Zechariah, I pay particular attention to the literary context of texts. My synchronic approach seems to de-contextualise the texts under study from their socio-historical context. However, in chapters Three and Five I place these texts in the broad historical context of the Davidic kings from about the time of Jeremiah until Judah‟s return from Exile. The analysis of the current Congolese leadership situation is confined particularly to the governance of President Mobutu Sésé Seko. In particular, the focus is on the second period of his presidency, from 1975 to his dismissal on May 17, 1997. Faculty of Humanities<br>This thesis is a study of the Sasa Sema’s Lion Series of biographies written for
young readers. The Sasa Sema project is concerned with archiving the stories of
famous historical figures and contemporary heroes. The research examines the
shifts or the trends these biographies take as compared to what has been in
existence in discourses on children’s writing in Kenya in the past. I argue that the
issues that these biographies are concerned with are a novelty in Kenyan
children’s literature. By writing biographies of historical figures in Kenya, the
authors are not only making an intervention by creating new models for
children’s literature, but they also show that the story of the nation cannot be
enacted outside the heroic struggles of its peoples. I further argue that the Sasa
Sema project is significant because many writers of children’s literature in Kenya,
and in East Africa in general, write mostly about childhood stories rather than
historical figures. Also, the characters used in the biographies are adult
characters rather than young fictional animal and human characters that have
characterized children’s literature in the past. I conclude that these changes
broaden the scope of children’s literature in Kenya.
The changes in writing for children in Kenya, evident in the biographies under
study are examined across the chapters that make up this thesis. Chapter One
attempts to locate the biographies under study within Kenya’s children’s literary
tradition by looking at the trajectory this literature has taken from pre-colonial
time to the present. Chapter Two examines how orality as a stylistic device is
used in the texts under study first, to create literary appreciation and secondly, as
a means of summoning literature from different cultural backgrounds in which
the texts are based. The chapter argues that the use of oral art forms evokes
identity and signals cultural diversity in the Kenyan society. Chapter Three
addresses the question of female heroism and gender stereotypes in children’s
literature. This chapter intimates that biographies, whose narratives draw from
real life situations, help in revising the representation of the female character in
children’s literature. Chapter Four examines how individual stories are used to
narrate Kenya’s history of decolonization for the children. This chapter also
avows that the process of colonization created heroes through colonialist
institutions such as schools and prisons. Chapter Five examines how the Sasa
Sema project argues for the recognition of minority groups that have been
marginalized in narratives of nation formation, while Chapter Six discusses the
biography of Dedan Kimathi a Mau Mau freedom fighter. The female narrator in
Kimathi’s biography, who is also positioned as a participant in the war portrays
children’s literature as a vehicle for paying homage to women’s role in the Mau
Mau war. In Chapter Seven, I attempt to harmonize the conclusions reached in
the previous chapters.

This thesis examines the nature of the articulation of the economy of the
Tapah Semai, a Malaysian aboriginal (Orang Asli) group, with the wider
Malaysian economy. Its primary aim is to document the extent of the
market linkages to demonstrate that the prevailing image of the people as
subsistence farmers with limited involvement in the market economy is misleading.
This view is portrayed in the literature and is held by the
Malaysian government which bases its policies in respect to Semai (and other
Orang Asli) upon it. On the basis of an indepth village study and a regional
socio-economic survey covering all the Semai villages in the Tapah region, it
is demonstrated that the Tapah Semai are now deeply enmeshed in simple
commodity production as well as commodity consumption.
In a detailed examination of how a sample of six households in the study
village, Sempak, allocated their time to production, it is demonstrated that
the people spent treble the time on commodity production, such as fruit collecting,
forest product gathering and rubber tapping, tha* they spent on subsistence
production such as swiddening, fishing and hunting. It appears that
the villagers allocated more time to commodity production because it was
more efficient and productive than subsistence production. For the sample
households in Sempak, it was found that in terms of imputed market value,
subsistence production produced only one eighth the value of a equal amount
of time spent in commodity production. As a result of its low productivity
relative to commodity production, subsistence production is in decline. It appears that the villagers’ current focus on commodity production is also
linked to their ever increasing desire and dependence on market goods. These
market relations are underwritten by a pervasive system of credit and indebtedness
which is necessary for the maintemcnce of regular trading relations
with several middlemen. A detailed examination of the expenditure of the
sample households indicates that about half of their total expenditure was on
foodstuff which formed almost all of their food consumption.
The commoditisation of the Semai economy is seen to have engendered
several changes in intravillage social relations such as the development of
private property, the ascendancy of appropriative practices, the appearance of
intravillage entrepreneurial enterprises, the commodification and decline in
sharing and labour cooperation, all of which are creating incipient social differentiation.
This thesis ends with a discussion of the future of the Tapah Semai as
simple commodity producers. Although the Semai economy is quite resilient,
given its broad nature and flexibility, its continued viability is dependent
upon several factors beyond the people’s control. The most crucial factor is
legal tenure to an adequate land area. However unless the Malaysian government
recognises the current nature of the Tapah Semai economy, the future
of simple commodity production among the Tapah Semai is precarious.

Universal Semantic Language (USL) is a semi-formalized approach for the description of knowledge (a knowledge representation tool). The idea of USL was introduced by Vladimir Smetacek in the system called SEMAN which was used for keyword extraction tasks in the former Information centre of the Czechoslovak Republic. However due to the dissolution of the centre in early 90's, the system has been lost. This thesis reintroduces the idea of USL in a new context of quantitative content analysis. First we introduce the historical background and the problems of semantics and knowledge representation, semes, semantic fields, semantic primes and universals. The basic methodology of content analysis studies is illustrated on the example of three content analysis tools and we describe the architecture of a new system. The application was built specifically for USL discovery but it can work also in the context of classical content analysis. It contains Natural Language Processing (NLP) components and employs the algorithm for collocation discovery adapted for the case of cooccurences search between semantic annotations. The Rumi Cultural Events Centre explores how the built environment can reflect a cultural phenomenon such as the evolution of Muslim communities in Western secular society of Canada. The centre has been designed for second generation Muslims, whose simultaneous exposure to religious and secular values change their outlook on
religion and culture (Greif, 2007; Amor, 2006, Hadjiyanni, 2007; Kohut, Allan & Wike, 2006; Akyol, 2011; Mandaville, 2001; Distin, 2001). They reinvent the notion of Islam in a secular context, and create a synthesis that embodies religiosity, culture and secularism. The Rumi Centre is a new typology of space that emerges from a need to
synthesize the new Muslim identity and values in order to create a non-traditional cultural environment.
The Rumi Centre is not a religious institution. It is a culturally appropriate and contemporary events venue where forward looking and traditional Muslims come together with the local community.
