The semi-organic nonlinear optical single crystal of L-glutamic acid hydrochloride was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature. The cell parameters of the grown crystal were estimated by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The presence of various functional groups was identified from Fourier transform infrared analysis. The transmission spectrum of this crystal show that the lower cut-off wavelength lies at 248 nm. Thermal analysis was performed to study the thermal stability of the grown crystal. The Kurtz powder second harmonic generation test shows tha

Abstract A new semi-organic non linear optical crystal, L-leucine phthalic acid potassium iodide (LLPPI) has been grown from an aqueous solution by slow evaporation method. The grown crystals were subjected to different characterizations, such as single crystal XRD, FT-IR, UV-Vis, TGA, SEM, EDAX, micro hardness, dielectric and powder SHG. Single crystal structure was determined from X-ray diffraction data and it revealed that the crystal belongs to triclinic system with the space group P1. The vibrational frequencies of various functional groups were derived from FT-IR spectrum. Thermal stabil

To achieve good quality bulk size crystal growth, an assessment of the nucleation kinetics of a semi-organic L-leucine hydrobromide (L-LHBr) crystal was carried out using double-distilled water as solvent medium. The effect on metastable zone width (MSZW) with increasing temperature and on induction period with varied supersaturation level was determined experimentally and was found to be very well in accordance with the nucleation theory prospects. Thereafter, various other nucleation parameters, such as Gibbs free energy and interfacial energy, were also determined. The knowledge of these nu

A comparison of their crystal structures with each other, with the structures of the pure components (L-serine polymorphs, DL-serine and maleic acid) and with other amino acid maleates is important for understanding the formation of the crystal structures, their response to variations in temperature and pressure, and structure–property relationships.
