The article substantiates the introduction of the problem of graphics into linguistic research. The research material was two diaries of Tomsk Old Believers written by a man (in 1915-1923) and a woman (in 1956-1975) in the late semi-uncial. These texts have graphic and content archaic elements. They use a specific chronology, the September year, the overnight boundary (the generally accepted 6 p.m.). These and some other features are considered as symbols of confessional traditionalism. The written records of the Ukrainian language are a valuable source for studying the development of the language system of the Middle Ukrainian period. Didactic Gospel of Reshetylivka is analyzed in this article. It is a unique written record that reflects the development of the religious style and the whole language system on the territory of spreading the Middle-Dnieper dialect in the 17th century, which formed the basis of the Ukrainian literary language. The article analyzes the handwritten anthology of resolutions of church congresses (sobory), polemical letters, and other essays of the Filippovtsy, donated to the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (WLLAS, F19-331) in the autumn of 2018. Literacy is a basic element of Old Belief culture. Alongside with early printed books being retained and reproduced, script books and manuscripts have always been an integral part of the movement. Abstract:
This paper examines the phonetic value of the semivowel in Gavrilo Stefanović Venclović’s Služabna knjiga. The work was written between 1711 and 1716 in the Old Church Slavonic language using old Cyrillic script. The script is of the semi-uncial type with elements of cursive writing. The analysis is based on photographs of the manuscript (РГБ, Собрание Н. П. Румянцева Ф. 256 № 401). The text was transcribed using the Transkribus software platform, while most of the excerpted examples were processed using the AntConc software.
