Full textThe population ageing is a universal process that does not affect only the individual, but also the family and the community. In Brazil, the number of senior citizens is increasing and because of that it is necessary to discuss about the care of the elderly, especially the hospitalized one, as well as to reflect about their perspectives concerning themselves, the family and the professional caregivers. The goal of this qualitative research was to identify and to comprehend the perception of the hospitalized senior citizen concerning themselves, their family and the professional caregiver. The research subjects were 19 hospitalized senior citizens - 60 years old or more - who were able to answer the oral interviews, which were performed, based on a previous script and after several observations, in the period of 2007 and 2008, in a private hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The criteria used to subdivide the analysis in four categories were defined by the answers and not by the questions. Here they are: Talking about the senior citizens: some concepts and prejudices; The auto-care and the care rendered by family and professionals; Loss of autonomy and institutionalization: the relationship between the elder and the caregiver; Professional caregiver in the health area; From the female caregiver to the male one: the inequality between the genders; Life quality and the caregiver’s health; The hospitals beginning; Ethics and public health policies for the elderly. By the analysis of the contents, four categories were identified: first - "the elder speaks about himself and his disease"; second - "the perception of the elder regarding the caregiver: the familiar and professional scope"; third - "the perception of the elder regarding the hospital institution"; fourth - "the perception of the elder regarding their rights and duties." Based on the analysis realized, it was possible to conclude that many senior citizens did not have clearness about their pathology; the hope regarding life and the cure of the disease was almost associated to the religiosity and faith; the preoccupation of being a permanent patient, with irreversible dependence of medicines or caregivers, losing, thus, their autonomy. Considering the institution, although it was verified an ethical and parsimonious assistance, it was not always evidenced by the senior citizens. The ones with serious pathologies affirm to feel safer in hospital because of its indispensable technical support, desiring, so, the professional caregiver. Besides the explicit intention in the public policies of considering the senior citizen someone in a new phase of life, with specific needs and cares, it was not always verified, making it possible to believe that the rights of the elderly are still unknown by society and also themselves. The geriatrics and gerontology specialties and their new concepts have not reached, yet, all the senior caregivers or families. From that situation, there is the urgency of an educational process around the new paradigm that aims, among other things, to "pay a debt" to the senior citizen, rescuing the individual that modernity has relegated to a peripheral and invisible place.

Full textThis study aimed to determine the relationship between religiosity and depression of senior citizens living in retirement homes in the Lima Metropolitan area – Peru. The sample was composed of 150 informants: 88 women and 62 men, whose ages ranged between 65 and 90 with an average of 77.84. Two instruments were applied: Age Universal I-E 12 (Simkim & Etchezahar, 2013) and the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15) (Gómez-Angulo & Campo-Arias, 2011). Results revealed that the social orientation of religiosity has a weak but significant correlation with depression whereas the personal orientation showed no correlation with depression. Based on these data, the hypothesis is discarded. In addition, results of correlations among variables regarding sociodemographic record were obtained. Finally, implications and suggestions for future research were discussed.

Full textThis paper focuses on the Senior Tour, a segment that, despite its potential, has received to date, very little attention both by the academic community and by the various economic sectors operating in the tourism industry. This is an exploratory study that aims to investigate who is the senior portuguese tourist, what are their characteristics and needs, which leads him to travel and what is the contribution of public and private institutions to promote/support the practice of tourism in this segment. In the theoretical model, it’s pretended to define the basic concepts, characterize the senior as an individual who enters in a new phase, in which the signs of aging are accentuated and the free time becomes a potential threat, and, finally, investigate what is being created and offered nationally and internationally, in terms of promotion of Senior Tourism. In this field is also presented the project “Férias Sénior” (Senior Holidays), promoted by Serviços Sociais da Administração Púbica (Government Social Services), where the researcher remained in the workplace for a year, in order to have direct contact with the population under study and decide the line of investigation to take. This experience leads to the practical approach of this work, studying the portuguese senior tourists, through the application of a survey to 200 persons aged 55 or more, in order to understand the motivations of senior to the practice of tourism, as well their preferences and behaviors on tourist consumption. The most relevant results indicate that the Portuguese senior tourist prefers to travel in Portugal, with hot weather, especially in the North and Algarve. Prefers cultural and landscape circuits tourism, health and wellness, nature, and beach tourism. The main motivations that lead the senior traveling is "try new things / visiting new places", "visiting museums and historic sites", "seek intellectual enrichment", "physical and mental recovery", "to stay with the family" and "rest and relax".

With the beginning of the new millennium, the Brazilian society is being transformed. It is believed that, by the year 2025, one in five Brazilian citizens will be 60 years old. The youngsters are prepared to deal with new technologies but the previous generations, which are currently considered to be the elderly, are not. In fact, they live in a society which is highly technological. Based on these facts, the purposes of this research are: to characterize the potential elderly user as for the use of the Internet in UNATI - UEL and SENAC - Londrina groups; to identify the use of the Internet by the elderly; to verify if the elderly are familiarized with the Internet and to detect their feelings and aspirations towards the Internet. The methodology used in this research was the case study under a qualitative-quantitative focus. A different questionnaire with open-ended and multiple choice questions was used for each institution studied in this research. The results obtained led us to the following conclusions: 1) both groups understand the importance of the use of the Internet nowadays; 2) it is easier and more comfortable for them to accomplish their daily tasks with the Internet; 3) the Internet brings information and stimulates creativity.

The wireless technologies are developing dramatically. The third generation (3G) telecommunication provides us with wider and faster bandwidth. More GPS and wireless devices are benefiting specific groups. So far it’s a pity that most service providers concentrate their major applications on Game, Gamble and Girl (poor 3G). The better bandwidth would benefit more than above. In the near future the population is changing. The growing senior citizens are belonging to the common group instead of the special one. If the wireless technology and its solutions could help this group, it would also help the rest of family and social members using more efficient ways in visible or invisible aspects. The growing population of senior citizens nowadays show its market or potential demand. If the useful wireless technologies could be afforded, why not supplying? Chang-Gung Senior Citizen Care Village would be the first one candidate who might own wireless services. The Wireless Service Provider would also be easier to calculate operation cost within specific zone. Though the supply of m-service within the village is not difficult, the demand of service contains varied contents. The following chapters assumed the conduct of wireless application from the aspects of Dr. Chang’s m-service and conclusions of Dr. Chen’s famous books. ANOVA and Logistic Regression are applied in this dissertation. It’s a pity that I didn’t study further on the ones who are paying for wireless technologies’ services? It’s because my major clients are senior citizens and they could not represent those ones. The ones who pay for the service bills and the senior ctitizens are obviously different. Due to resource constrains, I cannot allocate these two groups to visit in the same time. I strongly recommand someone take following steps to clarify this question. Most senior citizens have limited income and may not afford wireless technologies in the beginning or in the long run, if the service is not regarded as a kind of charity or donation. To finish this thesis is just a start. It’s a small step closer to my dream. A dream that wireless technologies really help the senior citizens would come true hereafter. 60 effective copies mean a lot to me. It is not only to represent each 30 min visit, but also to know more interactions and feelings about the senior citizens. May every senior citizen live well with the great help of wireless technologies!

Taiwan is gradually stepping into the aging society. The proportion of senior citizens grows year by year. In Taiwan, living in the care facilities is not popularly accepted by the senior citizens. Therefore, the number of living alone senior citizens grows quickly. Nowadays, the research topics on the senior citizens mainly focus on health monitoring, medical care, and life support, but fewer of them care about the home security. However, in the aging society, home security is an important issue before all the other issues. For the living alone senior citizens, we need to monitor the accidents occur in the home, the physical diseases of the senior citizens, and intruders to guarantee the safety of the senior citizens. By combining the technology of Internet of Things (IoT) and face recognition, we designed a Home Security System for senior citizens. The environmental information around the home, and the visitor's information are monitored. When the designed system detects the abnormal status of the senior citizens, the families and the related institutions will be notified immediately. When strangers appear in front of the door, the designed system will help the elders to determine whether the visitors can enter the house or not. The system will record related visiting information about the visitors and use statistics for helping the families of the senior citizens to detect the abnormal states of the visitors.

Following the country’s rapid social changes, more and more senior citizens in Taiwan live in various kinds of residential homes. However, the information behavior of these senior citizens is rarely studied. This research reports a study of the information behavior of senior citizens in a residential home. The focus of this study is to explore the relationships between information and senior citizens’ lives. “Taipei City Chao-Ju Senior Citizen Home” was selected as the site of this study. Data are collected by direct observations and in-depth interviews. Participatory observations were conducted between April 2002 and December 2002. By December 15, 2002, there were thirty-six residents (14 were male and 22 were female), aged from 65 to 92, were interviewed. According to the findings, senior citizens’ lives can be constituted by five categories of activities: life activities, interpersonal interaction, health maintenance, recreational activities, and emotional activities. The functions of information for senior citizens in a residential home were four fold: enriching life, accomplishing goals, solving problems, and giving expression to one’s feelings. Although information was meaningful for half of the respondents, the other half of the interviewed residents did not feel that information was useful to them in their lives. The more apparent forces impacting senior citizens’ lives include philosophy of life, personality, how they grew up, life arrangement, and age. With regard to the features of respondents’ information use, findings reveal that respondents like audio-visual types of information. The characteristics of information that respondents need are twofold: practical and subjective. Based on the results, the authors devised four concepts and six propositions to describe the information behavior of senior citizens.

“Baby boomers” are getting old, which indicates the era of “elder boom” is coming. “Spirituality” are the key factors influencing senior citizen’s consumer behaviors. What they truly hope is relationships built by frequent interactions that may improve life qualia and be psychological comfort instead of product’s commercial impact. “Feelings” of “group interactions” can be seen valuable to help elders not to feel lonely. Importantly, they can also encourage “experiencing” and “transforming”. It could be asserted that the commercial impact that senior citizen products have is much greater than traditional products and services. “Social support” can be viewed as a decisive factor motivating elders to “successful aging”. In the “process of creating product value”, the business organizations which can meet elder customers’ needs can share the “social and philanthropic responsibilities” and win the loyalty from customers. They would be also willing to pay a higher price for buying products and enjoying their added values, which could increase a great amount of revenue for business organizations. Such business organizations, therefore, may enhance their competitiveness and further more become the most successful ones during the “loneliness economy”. As for managing systems, managers should establish an organizational culture of humanity care, develop a mutual trust relationship and increase employees’ and customers’ participation in strengthening group relationships. That is expected to create values for customers, employees, organizations, society, culture and economy. This study has applied qualitative research and selected community business groups and elder customers to be the focus groups for research. Five phases have been gone through to interpret the research concept structure, which consist of deep-rooted demands, content provision, role media, managing systems and valuable contribution. This approach is to concretely present relevant contents and phenomena and then can be referred by decision makers in organization.

The growing aging population in Taiwan has lead to a rise in the number of research on senior-related issues and senior services across the country to address their pressing needs. Consequently, senior physical and mental health issues have gained much wider recognition by society at large. This paper aims to investigate the development of resilience in seniors by using the life of an octogenarian as the framework to understand how resilience and adaptation to life’s unexpected challenges help reshape one’s priorities and value system. This research also delves into the width and breadth of one’s resilience with implications that reach far beyond an individual’s physical and psychological wellbeing. The subject of this study is an 83-yeard old female born and raised in mainland China. At the age of 17, she was separated from her family during the Chinese Civil War in 1949 and ended up in Taiwan, where she eventually settled down, never seeing her family again for over 40 years. Through countless hours of in-depth interviews, the researcher recorded faithfully every detail of the subject’s life stories from childhood to the present time. This case study examines how a young girl survived poverty at home and the civil war in an unknown island with courage and perseverance. It demonstrates the development of resilience in a senior citizen through analysis and supportive evidence. In addition, based on the study results, the researcher has made recommendations regarding life-time planning and learning for seniors to educators, social workers, or anyone who plans to enter the counseling profession.

With the development of information technology, many elders have to keep up with its progressing pass in order to avoid some of life''s problems. In this study, we were participating in the older senior citizen’s computer-learning courses. By observing, interviewing and collecting questionnaires, we try to explore the older senior citizen’s viewpoints of interacting with information technology. Based on the statistical results of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Perceived Ease of use (PE) is the major factor to keep the older senior citizen on learning Behavior Intention continuously (BI) whereas Perceived Usefulness (PE) is not showing its significant impact on BI. It also supports the similar findings of Lin (2006). This phenomenon is a great contrast to that of non-seniors, which shows that PE will decline its impact on BI whereas PU takes the lasting impact on BI. On the other hand, we found that older senior citizens prefer easily learning to having a lot of contents or complicated step by means of qualitative studies. It seems that memory degradation''s problems shown with the older senior citizen is the important factor. Further study is worth to be conducted.

The purpose of this study aims to proceed to in-depth exploration which targets to the implementation experiences about home stay learning, short term learning, and semester system projects for senior citizens learning program in universities and colleges during 2008~2010, to analyze the current situation and experience of uncovered difficulties and problem resolution strategies, and to summarizes the construction of colleges for senior citizens to learn in the mode of implementation of the program development. The research method was applied by interview in twenty-five projects undertakers from 21 universities nationwide in the northern, central, southern, and eastern districts were interviewed within 3 years. Here are made some implementation modes and conclusion from undertakers’ point of view. The results can be as a reference to the development of colleges for senior citizens learning program. In addition, it could be contributed to the Ministry of Education in the promotion of colleges for senior citizens learning. In accordance with the research conclusion, it has been proposed major findings and recommendations as the followings: Major research findings (1). The current status for colleges sponsoring senior citizen learning projects, experiences, and problems Overall, the participation rate of senior citizens learning program in colleges continues to grow. Private schools are more enthusiastic than public schools. The fast growth is in the promotion of education sector. When the most schools implement the projects, they are constantly modified as “Learning by doing” to reveal their creativity, organization adjustment, development the related resource and to overcome the difficulties. Hence, the most students are quite satisfied, and teachers and administrative staff have accumulated experience and capabilities of senior citizens learning. However, in the level of administrative organization, the undertaker has not been defined yet. Adult education units are lack of experience and capabilities in the administrative integration and enrollment marketing. For the professional concept of senior citizens education, it becomes doubtful for education promotion units between two sides to the concept of dispute. In the human resource area, the professional teaching resources, planning or implementation talents required for senior citizen education were not prior established with appropriate cultivation and certification systems and it was found prevalent with implementation teams that were not professional nor vocationally and task-oriented specific enough and this resulted with a multitude of aftermath difficulties. Financial development and recruitment marketing aspects remained as the weakest links for education organization whereas in the learning environment, the hardware equipments including dormitories, classrooms, toilets, lifts and all of the accessible and friendly space conditions were found inadequate at best which demanded carefully planned risk-control mechanism and reinforcement in a remedial sense. In teaching aspect, each school was found severely lack of teaching talents dedicated to senior citizen education and under this premise, the educational strategies and techniques thus required more training curriculums, pre-class studies or seminars to sustain or even demanding consulting center to seek for resolution strategies at an on-demand basis. As for curriculum design and learning type, these were found with constant changes and innovations. (2) Viable strategies for problem resolutions in sponsoring senior citizen learning project at universities and colleges From the experience of sponsor, it must have administrative integration, enrollment marketing, and program project planning capabilities of professional literacy and philosophy for senior citizens. The organization needs to change its strategy such as: Establish dedicated “Senior citizen learning platform or office” or outsource management personnel and team-oriented enterprise operations. Universities and colleges located in metro area and rural surrounding location innately are handicapped by geographical locations and traffic inaccessibility which require added shuttle bus services. In the learning aspect, the learning environment could not match to the standards demanded by desired environmental friendliness for senior citizen learning; and these required substitute strategies for senior citizen learning dynamics specifically in aspects like improvement planning, reinforcement and the planning stage. As for the learning project and curriculum design for senior citizen at university level, it must have market segmentation characteristic that can differentiate between itself and similar senior citizen education institutions and proceeding to research and development for uniquely innovative thematic curriculum projects or engaging in competing strategic alliance; and these should be strategies worthwhile to ponder. (3) Implementation model for constructing senior citizen learning project development in universities and colleges This research has reviewed the three-year implementation statuses and experiences and used them as bases for ensuing in-depth explorations. Afterwards, five core concepts like “scenarios analyses”, “goal setting”, “activity planning”, “implementation” and “assessment” were subsequently developed as the skeleton with research findings generated from vital work contents as the structural diagrams during each phase. Lastly, these are summarized into project development implementation models for senior citizen learning targeting to universities and colleges. Within the structural diagrams at different levels, it provides these learning project developments with clarified pointers at each implementation process, including vital items in scenario analysis, evaluation elements for goal setting, precise procedures during activity planning, and the exploration findings in aspects like administrative organization, learning and teaching for implementation project as well as different approaches at appraisal phases that become a set of implantation mode as reference applications. Recommendations 1. Recommendations to universities and colleges It is recommended that the summation of implementation model for project development in senior citizen learning within universities and colleges could be served as an operational guide during project implementation phase. It is also recommended that during developing senior citizen learning project, it should review and cultivate a learning environment that possesses ideas, qualities and safety friendliness for senior citizen education in addition to cost-conscious and a brand-new system for senior citizen learning. In both teaching and learning aspects, the professionalized mechanism, project planners, implementation personnel and teaching talents with required professional knowhow must be pre-established for senior citizen learning project. And self-sponsored seminars, advancement studies or workshops prior the actual class sessions are also encouraged. 2.Recommendations for institutions that govern university education and administration It is recommended that Ministry of Education or civilian related organizations be providing talent cultivation as well as certification systems. Conceptual approaches studied by the competent authorities such as “educator for the senior citizen”, “learning planner for senior citizen” and “consultant center for senior citizen university”, etc, should be made available for renewed discussion as well as be implemented by other academic institutions or nonprofit organizations. As for ensuing phases, when universities and colleges have already accumulated enough implementation experiences and reinforced professional knowhow, the Ministry of Education could grant the schools with even more flexibility, latitudes and encouraging initiatives by focusing on the characteristic curriculum development at each school, and provide diversified subsidies based upon the merits from project differentiation.

The main purpose of this study is to examine the status and development of the operation of excellent senior citizen welfare organizations, to understand the operational strategy of the operators and to construct applicable operational-strategic models in the hope of promoting the service quality of senior citizen welfare organizations. Adopting the In-depth Interview Method of qualitative research, this study focuses on organizations from the north, the central and the south, evaluated to be excellent in 2007 by the government, as its research subjects and selects 7 organization operators, 3 residents of the organization and 2 professionals for in-depth interviews. As the results of the study show, due to essential differences in finance, scale, philosophy and ideas, these excellent senior citizen welfare organizations enjoy different competitive edges and demonstrate different operational styles. An excellent senior citizen welfare organization will specify its ideas, procedures and values during its course of operation and produce a nonmalignant interactive norm with the society. The following five factors related to the operational strategy of excellent senior citizen welfare organizations are constructed based on the results of the study: 1. specific target market and orientation strategy; 2, sufficient and good-quality care workforce strategy; 3. diverse leisure and recreational activity strategy; 4. people-oriented service strategy; 5. evaluation cooperation for the pursuit of excellence strategy. These five factors compose the ‘flying wheel strategy’ for the operation of an organization. In other words, the operation of the organization will be difficult at the beginning, just like the first lap of the wheel is also the most difficult part, yet after the organization successfully positions the market, the ‘flying wheel effect’ exerts itself for its operation, pushing the organization on the right track and enabling the organization to a sustainable development under an institutionalized operation. Lastly, the study recommends that since senior citizens admitted to a welfare organization tend to form a passive attitude towards life, it is advisable that organizations should provide them with more social support programs so that they may enjoy a fuller and happier life. In addition, the government should also timely revise relevant legal regulations based on the development of the market in order to meet the actual needs of the operation of an organization. According to the statistics from Taiwan Ministry of Interior in 1993, the percentage of senior citizens (the percentage of those over 65s in Taiwan population) is reaching 7%, turning into an aging society. By November 2007, the percentage of senior citizens is up to 10.2%; the population of senior citizens is over 2.33 million. However, Taiwan senior citizen complexes need much more improvements in both living surroundings and facilities. Under the changes of family structure and social environment, senior citizens move into the apartments, but the process of moving in and the changes in life style both affect those seniors psychologically and physically. How to assist the seniors to build a better interpersonal relationship and thus re-construct the sense of home and community through” minimizing the space organization” and “developing diverse space” become an significant issue. Thus, this thesis analyzes the connection between lifestyle clusters and space levels from the aspect of environment behavior. Furthermore, the mutual influence between individual life and social activities in senior citizen apartments is also discussed. Through the thoughts and life experience of the seniors, this paper proposes practical improvements and the layout of life clusters in the apartments. By looking into the seniors’ participation in social activities , the scale of space they use and the average time of staying in apartments, the life styles of the seniors can be categorized into three types: the indoors , the sociable and the outdoors. From the aspect of activities, the outdoors seniors are more diverse than the sociable. The activities of the indoors are dull, compared with the other two types. The group of the sociable has more opportunities to encage in social interactions with others whereas those in the groups of the sociable and the outdoors have less social activities. Based on the current regulations of standard facilities and designs of senior citizen complex, this paper divides the designs for lifestyle clusters in the apartments into 3 layers—inhabitation unit, basic cluster and life cluster. Furthermore, analyzing the seniors’ behaviors from the aspect of space and organization, the lifestyle clusters of the seniors can be divided into four categories—inhabitation unit, small cluster, basic life cluster and life cluster, which are elaborated as below. 1. The main concern in the design of inhabitation units focuses on how to support the seniors to have an independent life through better designs of living space. The designs should consider the diversity of the seniors’ lives, providing ample living space and facilities as well as suitable interior designs for couples. 2. Small clusters are the core combination of inhabitation units, which consist of four to six units. Through sharing living space, each unit gets acquainted with each other and thus builds up neighbor relationships as well as sense of belonging. 3. Basic life clusters refer to the independent living space for the seniors, offering them the space and facilities in daily life, such as public dinning rooms, kitchens, washing machines, living rooms, entertainment rooms and balconies. The clusters are built up by two to three small clusters. 4. Life clusters stand for the social life for the seniors. These groups provide them entertainment and social activities which increase the opportunities of getting to know each other. According to the plan for senior citizen complexes, when three basic life clusters constitute a life cluster, it is necessary to have multi-functional recreation rooms and public space for outdoors activities. Regard to private space, semi-public space and public space, due to the trend of space-minimizing, the quantity of individual inhabitation units should be reduced and enlarge the dimensions of apartments. The total dimensions should be 40% lower than floor dimensions, which increases the space of semi-public and public space. The dimensions of semi-public space should be 20% higher than total floor dimensions. Public space should be adjusted according to the scale of complexes, around 15% of total dimension. Senior citizen complex is one of the housings for the seniors. Urban senior citizen apartments have small scales and communities as well as convenient transportation which help to prolong and re-construct the seniors’ life circles. Along with suitable designs of lifestyle clusters, these plans enable senior citizens to have stable, carefree and safe later years.

The purpose of this study is to use content analysis to find out gender ideologies in senior high school's Citizen and Society textbooks. Study will be based on volume one to four of the course textbooks of Citizen and Society class, with particular focus on texts published from Lungtung and Nani . After setting up the research purpose and objectives, the study will go through literature reviews to understand the meanings and developments of gender equality. And based on the previous studies, the standards which conducted domestically and internationally, the study categorized the quantitative analysis into six areas: Imbalance, Stereotyping, Invisibility, Linguistic Bias, Fragmentation, and Cosmetic. Quantitative and qualitative analysis then would be conducted based on the six areas mentioned above. To examine whether course textbooks implied indirectly the gender ideology, and how are the gender issues represented? Whether the representation is completed? Whether the textbooks carry gender stereotype phenomenon? And when describing particular issues, whether particular gender focus is excluded? Whether language texts implied linguistic bias indirectly ? The study concludes the following: 1. Gender "Imbalance" is significant. 2. "Stereotyping" is concentrated more on the areas of career projects, household work division, and segmentation of color based on genders . 3. Textbooks doesn't show "Invisibility" significantly, and that homosexual and multi-gender examples are minimum. 4. Texts of " Linguistic Bias" are rare. 5. Systematic introduction of gender relationship and respect equality are shown in texts from both publishers. 6. A slightly significant of "Cosmetic" are shown in text covers and some of the figures in the texts. Overall, the results of the study which focused on the Citizen and Society textbooks from two publishers did not reflect the gender ideology significantly. Thus, based on the conclusion above, the study makes few recommendations as followed: 1. Increase the proportion of female samples. 2. Increase the career types for female samples, and lesser the career segmentation. 3. Use different figures for different genders doing household works. 4. Avoid label females with the color pink when choosing colors. 5. Increase homosexual and multi-gender issues and related descriptions.

Most senior citizens were retired persons. They have much more leisure time than others. If economic condition permits, they would like to take tours and visit some famous sightseeing spots. Nevertheless, due to their physiological aging, the time and destination might be limited by their health. Consequently, health evaluation and disease control before setting out become an important issue. This study was conducted using quantitative questionnaire survey. Eight hundred copies were sent out and distributed to each county and city based upon the population. The range of survey includes Taiwan is land and off-shore islands. Among them, 775 copied were correctly answered with recovery rate of 96.88%. The subjects were above 50 age male or female citizens covering all level of education. The result of study indicated that foreign tourism keeps booming in this century, which is one of the favorite activities for the elder. Those who have physical disabilities are usually conveyed by relatives and friends to enjoy the pleasure of travel. For most convenience, the elder will be pleased to be arranged by travel agent to visit near-by countries. On the other hand, independent tourist will go farer and stay longer in their trip. Because the fare of economic class is much cheaper than business class, most people will select it and expected to be put in the window seat with good view. It is no double that sitting long in a crowed seat without exercise may cause the risk of deep venous thrombosis, particularly for those who have cardiovascular disorders. This study showed that most people have sensed the potential risk during the route of traveling. Nevertheless, their comprehension is still not enough and need to be educated.

Since 1993, Taiwan has entered an ageing society. As the times evolve, the imbalance in the population structure continues to grow in Taiwan. In the wave of declining birthrates, Taiwan’s situation is the worst in the world. According to this phenomenon, the National Development Council also estimated that 2018 Taiwan will step into an “aged society” and even anticipate that by 2026, the elderly population in Taiwan will exceed the threshold of 20% and move toward hyper-aged society. According to the Ministry of the Interior at the end of March of the year of 107 in Taiwan, the registered population of people over the age of 65 was 3.31 million people, accounting for 14.1% of the total population, and officially entered an “aged society”. Facing the aging population and the impact of changes in social structure, family patterns, and family care functions, the demand for care cannot be fully borne by the family. The financial risks associated with potential long-term care needs have become a major challenge for Taiwanese people. The purpose of this study is to explore the elderly people in the long-term care of commercial insurance purchase intentions from the perspective of marketing strategies to explore the people buying commercial insurance intentions and provide relevant recommendations to the government and insurance company. A total of 107 online questionnaires were distributed in this study, and a total of 105 valid questionnaires were issued. As well as through in-depth interviews, people understand that people have a certain understanding of long-term care insurance, but most consumers are reluctant to spend too much money on insured long-term care insurance. It can suggest that the government and insurance companies should promote knowledge of long-term care insurance to the public. The willingness to take care of long-term care insurance increases.

However, in centers without contracting, the high frequency users had higher service satisfaction. Four significant differences were found between centers with or without contracting: “service satisfaction”, “environment and facilities”, “management and administration” and “service attitude”. The users of contracting centers gave better performance score than the users of centers without contracting. No significant difference was found in “service outcome”. There were five factors influenced the users’ service satisfaction in contracting centers: “environment and facilities”, “management and administration”, “service attitude”, “service outcome” and “interpersonal relationships”. These five factors explained 75% variance of the regression model. However, in centers without contracting, three factors influenced the users’ service satisfaction: “management and administration”, “service attitude” and “interpersonal relationship”. These three factors explained 72% variance of the regression model. Furthermore, the researcher ranked the scores of service performance of the eight contracting centers and compared them with the rank list evaluated by Bureau of Social Affairs in 2004.
