Full textSenior adults face a quandary through the process of aging. While enjoying the benefits of retirement, the senior adult also struggles with issues of health, independence, loneliness, and society’s stereotypes concerning their relevance and usefulness. With the aging of the population and graying of the church membership, the necessity to mobilize and equip senior adults becomes critical in maintaining a healthy church. As senior adults face an ever-changing society filled with technological, organizational, and social transitions, they need assistance in coping with and managing these age-related issues.
The project includes training materials to mobilize and equip the senior adults attending Crowley Assembly for effective ministry within the church and to the local community, thus validating the significance and relevance of senior adults in the local church. The project focuses on four ministry interventions: a four-part sermon series for the congregation, a ministry opportunities seminar for senior adults, an age-related issues management seminar for senior adult leaders, and the development of a senior adult ministries manual. Post-sermon, pre-seminar, and post-seminar surveys identify the understanding of and attitude toward material presented in the respective sermons and seminars. The project promotes a biblical awareness of the importance and value of senior adults in the congregation at Crowley Assembly and encourages acceptance of intergenerational ministries. A closer evaluation reveals the keys to the project’s effectiveness and identifies improvements for future projects.

Full textThe fight against terrorism is a contemporary concern shared in state diplomacy, though no such common definition exists in international affairs. From an organizational approach, senior civil servants of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs are thought to share a global vision on terrorist violence and a savoir-faire that should allow them to make effective decisions in their efforts to prevent and fight against it. However, in a constructivist approach, the war on terrorism draws its inspiration from inter-subjective relations that activate a set of belief systems or different Operational Codes (OPCODES). These beliefs systems, though dependent French diplomats’ background (Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA) or the Concours d’Orient), contribute to their decision making process. Thus, these beliefs play a role in the way decision makers see the world, the enemy, but also as to how they perceive themselves in their duties. These pre-existing beliefs which have been forged through personal experiences and commitments are responsible for shaping a decision making process that is not solely based on security concerns. They are in fact, also determined by material, emotional, cognitive and moral motivations for a state such as that of France

The objective of this study is exploring manpower utilization for senior human resource planning and design policy issues in the Senior Workforce Development Service Center, Ministry of Labor Republic of China (Taiwan), and making policy recommendations for the areas of concern. For this purpose, two techniques of data collection, in-depth interviews and literature reviews, are used. The results show that the center should allocate resources for social and economic services, since it also depends on social context factors and expert deliberation based policies, thus adjusting the content of services in a different direction. The senior workforce development service center and related departments, the manpower utilization planning and its design, the main development in employment matchmaking, as well as training initiatives, diversification of services and resources, all need to be strengthened and the related initiatives assessed, to establish a systematic senior human resource planning mechanism.

Abstract Drugs will not only damage human health, but also affect the stability of the social security. Among them, supply and demand in the distribution channels and the battles for benefits are often the causes of high crime rates of Taiwan society. Many social observers and scholars believe that apart from legal norms, the key to eliminate the problems of drug abuse is "education." The fundamental way of anti-drug education is the implementation of the "campus" anti-drug education. The Ministry of Education established the Chunhui group to be dedicated to student drug abuse prevention since 1990, including the urine tests for drugs and counseling from schools at all levels and specific personnel, teams of anti-drug campus talk, student clubs named as Springfield, Springfield counselor volunteers, cooperation of Chunhui group and substitute civilian servicemen, the trial counseling groups, and so on. The purpose is to work from the campus, to create new ideas, looking forward to eliminating a "sick culture" of drug addiction through a campus-to-community approach. (The deep promotion of Echinacea Campaign implementation plan of Ministry of Education, 2013). "Campus anti-drug" is one of the important projects of the "Campus Safety" of Ministry of Education. The campus anti-drug education and related measures have been carried out for more than twenty years. Now, with the development of the Internet, it created a No Net No Talk trend among the students. From traditional broadcasts, anti-drug folding leaflets, periodicals and CDs, still depending on the promoting themes to recent Network without boundaries, schools can get full anti-drug information. Taking the advantages of the Internet, "near", "fast", and "highly interactive" and producing publicity, it’s more efficient to have students be aware of the damage of drug abuse and to have deep-rooted knowledge of drugs. When President Ma attended the anti-drug meeting of the anti-drug exhibition on June 2, 2012, he announced the "Echinacea Campaign" of the anti-drug campaign officially started. Then, "Echinacea Campaign" website (check: http: //enc.moe.edu.tw) was enabled on June 24. It provides anti-drug cases, videos, administrative regulations and the related information, comics, posters downloads, and it links extramural guidance associations of students in all the counties and cities, Drug Harm Center, Ministry of Justice, Department of Health and other sites such as anti-drug resources Museum in order to implement effective anti-drug education and results of publicity, and to eliminate the harm of drugs done to the individual and the society.

As Taiwan''s social and economic environments have changed rapidly, its birth rate has decreased drastically and the family structure has been altered, institutional care for the senior citizens who can not take care of their daily lives on their own becomes necessary. The quality of institutional care has thus received a lot of attention from the senior citizens, their family members, and related groups of the society. In order to help such institutions provide the necessary functions, professional and high-quality care-taking, and assure people that it’s safe to send their elders at home to such institutions, the relevant government sectors are entitled to supervise such institutions. Evaluation of these institutions is also an important mechanism to safeguard and upgrade their quality. This research aims at evaluating senior citizens’ institutions that are supervised by the Ministry of the Interior. The Study analyzes, compiles, and sums up the design and practical functioning of the appraisal system of Taiwan’s senior citizens’ institutions, including their design concept and positioning of the system, appraisal planning, business model, appraisal indicators and assessment methods. This research also explores issues and practical aspects related to the appraisal system and provide suggestions to help improve these institutes based on the findings of the Study. The realm of this research is based on the appraisals of these institutions conducted by the Ministry of the Interior in 2001, 2004, 2007, and 2010. The research focuses on the welfare system and its practical aspects. This research finds that (1) In order to meet the requirements of service quality and performances, the evaluation for these institutions has become more and more important; (2) The government has enforced tighter control on these institutions through appraisal; (3) The recruitment mechanism of appraisal committee members and the conformity of the appraisal standard need to be improved; (4)The appraisal indicators fail to cover all essential items and the standards of assessment does not take the scale of institutes into consideration; (5) The following problems exist in the process of implementing the appraisal of these institutions by the Ministry of the Interior: a) Institutional self-appraisal is not fully implemented and tends to pass with false high scores; b)The evaluation standards between the central government and local governments are inconsistent; c)Appraisal indicators are too complicated with too much emphasis on details, resulting in difficulty for item-by-item appraisal; d) The time spent on the appraisal is too short to have a comprehensive picture of the institution under inspection; e) Too much emphasis is placed on reviewing the written documents. Thus, the whole process has become just a formality. f) Suggestions for improvement are given based on personal experience and may not meet real need of the evaluated institutions.

The research topic of this thesis are aspects for the participation of elderly people in a welfare-oriented youth ministry in a deprived area in order to identify how elderly people can help shape church in the face of demographic and social challenges (in- terculturality, generation conflicts and milieu differences) and strengthen its profile of community diaconia. Based on social-scientific and missiological prolegomena the center of this re- search is an empirical-theological study on commited elderly people in the welfare- oriented youth ministry Richtsberg Mobil in a deprived area. Collecting data through ten qualitative, problem-centered interviews the phenomena are evaluated by using the Grounded Theory. As a result of the data analysis six basic variables can be assumed that have an impact on the participation. The study is then utilized regarding its implications for missionpractice and missiology that can both assist the studied project Richtsberg Mobil as well as comparable intergenerational and welfare-oriented projects.
