Abstract:
For the system with unknown statistical property noises, the property that the energies of the system noise and the observation noise are limited is utilized in this paper. On this basis, two novel fusion algorithms are proposed for ship integrated navigation with the relative navigation information, broadcasted by the Automatic Identification Systems (AISs) in the adjacent ships. Firstly, an H∞ fusion filtering algorithm is given to deal with the navigation observation messages, under the centralized fusion framework. The integrated navigation method based on this algorithm cannot deal with t

In this paper, the impact of the fusion framework on the fault diagnosis process is discussed. The centralized fusion framework makes it difficult to locate and estimate the sensor fault. Based on the fault detection method, the sequential fusion framework could locate and estimate the sensor fault and realize the fault-tolerant estimation of system states. In the sense of minimum mean square error (MMSE), based on the sequential detection of bias fault of sensors, a sequential fault-tolerant fusion estimation approach is presented to estimate the sensor fault and the system state, simultaneou

Background: Sports related cervical spine trauma may range from minor injuries to severe life-threatening fractures with spinal cord injuries as following paragliding accidents. Case Description: A 52-year-old male sustained C4-C5 and C6-C7 fracture-dislocations (American Spinal Injury Association-D) attributed to a paragliding accident. He underwent a C5 corpectomy with C4-C6 anterior fusion. Three years later, he again sustained a paragliding accident, now resulting in a C6-C7 fracture-dislocation that required a C6-C7 anterior discectomy fusion. Abstract:
Data sets of increasing size and complexity require new approaches for prediction as the sheer volume of data from disparate sources inhibits joint processing and modeling. Rather modular segmentation is required, in which a set of models process (potentially overlapping) partitions of the data to independently construct predictions. This framework enables individuals models to be tailored for specific selective superiorities without concern for existing models, which provides utility in cases of segmented expertise. However, a method for fusing predictions from the collection of models is req

Reliability of the performance of biometric identity verification systems remains a significant challenge. Individual biometric samples of the same person (identity class) are not identical at each presentation and performance degradation arises from intra-class variability and inter-class similarity. These limitations lead to false accepts and false rejects that are dependent. It is therefore difficult to reduce the rate of one type of error without increasing the other. Abstract:
In this study, a method is developed for modelling and classifying behaviour of maritime vessels in a piracy situation. Prior knowledge is used to construct a probabilistic graphical model of maritime vessel behaviour. This model is a novel variant of a dynamic Bayesian network (DBN), that extends the switching linear dynamic system (SLDS) to accommodate contextual information. A generative model and a classifier model are developed. The purpose of the generative model is to generate simulated data by modelling the behaviour of fishing vessels, transport vessels and pirate vessels in a m

However, most of previous target detection studies are based on the unrealistic disk model, and use a single sensor’s decision as the decision of the overall network. This simple detection scheme may result in high false alarm probability and deteriorate the detection performance. Therefore, data fusion is required to improve the performance of detection.
